"The Peabody is Dead"
We were quite surprised to find that this hotel had been taken over by the Marriott the day before we arrived. It made finding the hotel a little tricky, but also meant we were subjected to just about everything being in the process of changing. The person at the front desk didn't know the new Marriott system and needed help, they couldn't find our […] reservations due to the system change, the rooms didn't have menus or books because they were changing (but hospitality would send up the old menus/books), etc. That list goes on. "Beautiful place"
My wife and I went to Little Rock for a getaway weekend and spent the night at the Peabody. There is nothing bad we can say about our experience. The valet parking was nice and the people were all courteous. The hotel was beautiful and clean. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It was the first time that we got to see the duck march. "Good hotel in downtown Little Rock"
It is a nice hotel in the heart of downtown Little Rock. Nice lobby, comfortable beds. The parade of marching ducks is a nice tradition. Only complaint was breakfast in the lobby, they were understaffed and our waitress was forced to wait on too many tables. Wish the hotel had an indoor pool. "Ducks were cute"
This hotel was nice or at least you could tell it used to be. Stains on the lobby chairs and couches were kind of weird. The room was nice enough and clean. We thought it was close to things we could walk to until they told us not to walk at night. That didn't made you not want to walk during the day either. "I had two nights"
Great location from what I needed and not far from the airport. I landed, claimed luggage, rented a car, checked in at the Peabody, and walked three blocks to the flying Saucer for dinner and beer in 45 minutes. Ate breakfast at the hotel. Add $20 for parking and $17.95 for a hotel movie on a standard definition tv with a hum. A little snooty check- in clerk . Doubt I'll be back. "Comfortable"
Everything was great except for one thing. We were put on the 6th floor and there was a noise of some sort above us that sounded like some kind of machine and it was constant and all night long. I was not happy at all. First we had to wait at least an hour to get checked in. We were going to a fundraising events and check in took so long that we had to leave or bags behind the front desk,go to our event and then they called us and told us that our room was ready. Then my husband had to leave our fundraiser go back and get the key to check in. […] And all they gave us was a free breakfast. The bathtub stopper didn't work, I couldn't take a bath. The Peabody was very nice. However once we tried to check in on a Saturday, there was only one person working, causing us to wait in line for about 20 min. Then, when the phone operator came to assist us she didn't know how to make a key causing our wait to be even longer. When we got up to the room, our key did not work. No coffee pot in the rooms. There was a call girl sitting in the lobby most of the evening. Just not an overall feeling of happiness there. Don't get me wrong. "Mediocre"
Location was great! We had a very short walk to downtown and took advantage! The place was very clean and the lobby/bar area was very nice in appearance! However, the room we stayed in was not what we were expecting. It was definitely a far cry from cheaper hotels, but I did not see where the extra money went. (We paid for the deluxe room) no mini fridge […] (only upon request), no pens for jotting notes about a plan for the night, the room was tiny, the tv was cheap and did not come with the "gaming console" that was listed in the description, AND on top of all that we made the mistake of opening the bar menu... $109 for a liter of crown! $96 for a case of cheap domestic beer! Holy cow! We went downstairs to check out the bar while we waited on some friends and even there the drinks were completely overpriced. We ended up finding a liquor and saved hundreds of dollars that way. The only complaint I had about service was about the bar. The female bartender had a sour attitude after I had to interrupt her and, whom I assume was, her boss bickering about something, just so we could get drinks. "Nice room, no view, loved the ducks."
My only complaint is that the hotel was fairly empty and they gave us a room with a view of it's own lower roof. It seems like it would have been very easy to give us a riverside view. StillI didn't specifically request a view, but it was advertised. The bed was maybe the best hotel bed, I've ever slept on. We walked to all the restaurants and clubs […] and the river market and museums with ease. The bathroom was very big and comfortable for a hotel. The valet parking attendants were very courteous. "Great backdrop for an overnight in Little Rock!"
Karen at check in was delightful, helpful and very personable. Our room had a wonderful view of both downtown, the capital and river. For tourists, being in the River Market area was convenieent as we were able to easily access restaurants and shops/attractions. I would recommend visiting the original home of the ducks and gorgeous original property […] in Memphis, our home town! Valet parking at $20 was reasonable to me, but the cost of breakfast at Cappricio, not so much. All in all, a great backdrop for our mother/daughter overnight trip! A bit inconvient on the coffee situation. Either need to make coffee available in each room or at a station in the hall on each floor, perhaps by the elevator. Sorry but do not like needing to leave the room go downstairs to retrieve coffee before I am ready. Nice place in general. First hotel We've been at in a while that has no coffee maker in the room. Stayed here New Year's Eve and paid for a $100 a plate dinner. The food was great, but the service was not so great. Brought the entrees before we were done with the soup. Spread our desserts around the table while we are halfway through our entrees? Really?
