HOTEL SAVOY in Kansas City

The staff was great - especially the service for complimentary breakfast. Our rooms were very spacious. There is a lot of history in this hotel. It's a nice getaway for a night or two.

The suite was clean, but the couch in living room needed to be replaced. The bed was ok. The suite had a very musty smell when we first got there, probably from being closed up for sometime. This hotel is literally falling apart..great for people who love history, but literally, only the rooms are TOGETHER in any way.. and only some of the rooms are reno'ed. The rest of the hotel is literally falling apart with caved in ceilings, falling down wallls, etc.. they rent apts out in the non-reno'ed part of the bldg. They should really market […] it as a night in a haunted hotel..they would get more customers. But the staff was great, the breakfast was awesome. Not in the nice part of downtown KC..i wouldn't go running at night there..the breakfast was the most amazing complimentary breakfast i have ever had though- lobster bisque, oysters, caviar, etc. The room was comfy, but our AC wouldn't go below about 78 so we sweat all night. The bathroom was nice, the room itself was up to date. If you are looking for an adventure, here you go! but don't expect LUXURY. Lees meer

I booked at the Savoy because I was too late to get a reservation at the President where my step-son's wedding was being held. It was the final weekend of the Big 12 Basketball tourney and luckily found a nicely priced option via Hotels.com. On entering the Hotel I felt as if I was taking a step back in time to the 1930's, what a cool place, and that […] was just the lobby. Up the old elevator an into the hallway the theme was the same, and then as I stepped into the room, the furnishings, wallpaper and fixtures we in many cases original. Claw foot tub, wall sink base, right down to the bedspread made me feel like I was living a part of history. Over night it got pretty chilly, and about 4 AM the pipes began to groan as the steam heat came to life, I rolled over and kind of chuckled to myelf about how cool it would be to bring my kids back here some time. The original dining room and lobby are so full of character it should be on the register for historical places. All of this and a very friendly staff made my stay in KC a great time. Lees meer

The stay was great mainly due to special feeling you can get in the hotel. It is a very old one with some parts renovated (but renovated in a way that you feel to be in 1920s). I got a very nice suite, with A/C and also there the feeling was like to be in a new room of 1920 (the wal paper, the furniture and everytjhing seems to be coming straight from […] the past. Some other parts are still to renovate and this gives the hotel a magic atmosphere, quite misterious. Last but not least, everybody is very nice and helpful in the hotel and the breakfast can be a real "Gala Dinner" with any kind of food. If you take all of this it in the right way, it is a unique experience, otheriwse it can be just disappointing. Lees meer
