We hadden een kamer met uitzicht op de tropische tuin, prachtig. Kamer van alle gemakken voorzien. Wel veel problemen gehad bij het inchecken: men vroeg om onze creditcard als borg voor eventuele uitgaven die wij tijdens ons verblijf zouden maken. Onze card werkte echter niet en dat werd als een (abnormaal) groot probleem gezien; ondanks dat wij aanboden om tot 500 dollar cash te 'betalen'; men wilde ons zelfs in 1e instantie als gast weigeren, terwijl het hotel natuurlijk al via hotels.com betaald was. Zeer onaangenaam en men ging pas meewerken nadat we erg hebben opgespeeld; uiteindelijk 100 dollar borg betaald. Geen leuk begin van een verder overigens prima verblijf daar.

Prima locatie om van daaruit San Diego te ontdekken. Naar o.a. de Zoo, het Balbaopark en ophaaladres van huurauto gebracht en opgehaald met shuttledienst van het hotel, ideaal. Schone kamer, van alle gemakken voorzien. Redelijk ontbijt met plastic bordjes en bestek.

Heerlijk hotel, niet ver van Sea World, San Diego Zoo, uss Midway, Gaslamp, Old Town en het strand. Allemaal binnen acceptabele tijd per auto te bereiken. Super mooi hotel met ruime kamers. Het is wel een gehorig hotel, wat vooral in het weekend lawaai met zich mee bracht van buren. Door de weeks was de marine aan de overkant van het water met trainingen bezig. Dit vonden wij niet heel storend, maar het geluid is er wel. Verder zit ontbijt er niet bij in en is heel duur als je dat nog bij wilt nemen. Dat is echt een minpunt. Als je dit hotel boekt, hou er rekening mee dat het twee locaties zijn. Wij zaten in de tower en het 'grotere gebeuren' was verder op. We hadden wel een lobby, servicebalie, restaurant en verwarmd zwembad, dus dat is prima voor elkaar. De starbucks en de grote lobby van de foto's zit in het andere gedeelte. De kamers zijn echt super ruim! We hadden een ruim zitgedeelte en eettafel erbij, en dat voor een gewone kamer. Uitzicht op zee was erg mooi.

Het hotel ligt midden in het uitgaansgebied; veel restaurants in de omgeving en ook de winkelstraat is om de hoek. De bediening is gastvrij en zeer vriendelijk. Het ontbijt is echter simpel, maar dat schijnt in Amerika normaal te zijn. Kortom: als je op zoek bent naar een centraal gelegen hotel met alle gewenste voorzieningen in de buurt en ruime kamers, dan ben je bij Gaslamp Plaza suites op het juiste adres!
Ligging.
Vagabond Inn Chula Vista ligt in South Bay in Chula Vista, dicht bij Silver Strand State Beach. Bezienswaardigheden in de omgeving zijn onder andere Petco Park en San Diego Convention Center.
Hotelvoorzieningen.
Vagabond Inn Chula Vista heeft een buitenzwembad en een spabad. Dit hotel beschikt over zakelijke voorzieningen zoals een businesscentrum en een vergader-/conferentieruimte. Gasten krijgen gratis ontbijt. Het personeel kan op verzoek een conciërgeservice en hulp bij excursies regelen. Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een wasserij, koffie in de lobby en stomerij-/wasserijservices. Gasten kunnen gratis parkeren.
Hotelkamers.
Bij Vagabond Inn Chula Vista zijn kamers met airconditioning voorzien van onder andere een gratis krant en een gratis weekkrant. Elke televisie heeft premiumkanalen via satelliet en een internetverbinding via tv (toeslag). Elke kamer is voorzien van een draadloze internetverbinding. Het uitgespreide South Bay is bekend vanwege de ligging bij de Amerikaans-Mexicaanse grens. San Ysidro, ten noorden van de grens, staat bekend als 's werelds drukste grensovergang. Het hoofdzakelijk residentiële South Bay heeft centra met industrie, handel en militaire installaties. Het Knott's Soak City Water Park en het Coors Amphitheatre, waar grote concerten worden gegeven, zijn populaire toeristische attracties van South Bay.

I enjoyed my stay, The room was clean with no problems. I plan to stay there again the next time I in San Diego. The young lady at the front desk did a great job. She was very helpful and kind. A big plus for the hotel.

We just needed a place to lay our head without any major amenities required. This hotel for the price, was very clean, comfortable and met our needs!

The worst hotel experience ever. As soon as we start heading to our room we smell weed coming from the downstairs neighbors and we smelt it the next day. The next day after housekeeping cleaned our room, we came back to our room. My husband notied the bottom drawer of the dresser sticking out. He tried pushing it in but something fell behind the drawer […] and blocked it from staying shut. He pulled the drawer out and to our shock and disgust, it was an enormous pen- is. I immediately called front desk and she said she was the only one and she couldn't come to remove it. I would never stay here again nor recommend this hotel. And we were trying to have a nice romantic V-day weekend. Lees meer

It could be a great motel! But... It needs to be updated in a major way. It advertised breakfast, a Danish and coffee? I looked for a inexpensive motel close to Coranado ,but didn't expect such a dump.
"Comfortable rooms/easy acess"
The Vagabond Inn,Chula Vista, is a nice little hotel south of San Diego. It's frwy close and there's plenty of of resturants close by. Not an upscale neighborhood but felt safe and walked to nearby shops. Only negative, continental breakfast? Which continent??

I have enjoy the time I have spend at this motel. I think for the price and the room it is a great deal. All the staff and maids do a great job.

"Vagbond - Dec visit"
The bed was very comfortable, room was very clean and heater was quiet. Staff were very polite and helpful. Convenient to the Interstate and easy to find.

A good price for a good room to stay for a little. I was a little paranoid about the ants that I read from pervious comments but when I got there I was impress on how clean and comfortable the room is. And the best part no ants. I will recommend this place. =)

They charged me $5 for a lost room key. The credit card sized piece of plastic cost $5. And there is a nice view of the trailer park next door. I don't recommend this place.

Room kind of small, but not horrible. Did not like the bathroom because there was no bathtub- there is a drain under the shower spout and another one in the middle of the bathroom floor. The shower head is also not fixed- it's one of those portable ones. Otherwise, the rest of the room was fine.

There was a lot noise by the morning for the people cutting the grass very close at the rooms
"CHULA VISTA, VAGOBOUND INN"
VERY QUITE AND HAD A PLEASENT STAY. I HAVE USED THIS HOTEL FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND WOULD RECOMMEND TO OTHERS. I ONLY HAD TO ASK FOR ONE THINK AND THAT WAS THE HEATER NOT WORKING. BUT THE ROOM WAS NOT THAT COLD AND WE SPENT THE WHOLE WEEK-END IN THE SAME ROOM.

The room isn't spacious but it was enough for our needs and I felt we got a great bargain. Conveniently located near I-5, a few minutes to downtown San Diego, Las Amricas Outlet Mall in Chula Vista, Tijuana, Coronado, etc. Don't judge this hotel by "the look" from outside or by the surrounding neighborhood. Make sure to ask for a renovated room; comfortable clean bed & clean bathroom, fridge, microwave & wi-fi avail. Coffee & pastries avail […] in the morning, nothing more. this is a moderate hotel with a pool to hang out in the center of the parkade. close to imperial beach if your driving south to mexico good final stop before crossing boarder.

My family and I stayed in two different rooms each nite.When I attempted to contact management they were never available, I left my number with the front desk employee but I was never contacted by any one from the hotel, Both rooms were infested with ants. On the beds and in the bathroom. I will never stay at this hotel chain again.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a romantic get away and we just loved it! The bed was ultra comfortable and the location was great!!! I definitely recommend this to anyone who just wants to relax and have a good time.
"The Vagabond Inn in Chula Vista, CA"
Nice room, good location with easy access to the freeways. The price was great, but an ant invasion was not. In response to my first call, the office sent a maintenance guy who spoke no English, but nodded and smiled as he hauled into the room a can of ant spray and a big bottle of some sort of insect control liquid. He sprayed all over the walls and […] the floor. I was more frightened of the chemicals than the ants! Unfortunately, this scary drenching didn't stop the ant party and I called the office again. The maintenance guy returned with a tube of caulk to seal off the ants' access points. This largely worked and we saw only a couple of critters during the rest of our three-day stay. Two other issues: One, there was one hand towel and one face cloth in the room for two people. A housekeeping person brought extra towels but rationed them like they were gold. Two, the room was not as clean as I would have expected. The wall in the vanity area looked like it had not been recently cleaned. The bathroom floor didn't seem to be very clean, either. Interestingly, the inn provided free wireless Internet access, but blocked access to Yelp. Curious! Lees meer

It would have been nice to know at check in that a breakfast was served in the mornings and where the ice machine was. The location by the pool seems to me to be an unusual place. The shower head was loose and no preasure. The check in service people were less than friendly. Not sure how they maintain their jobs. "Definitely could have been better"
The hotel had ants. We requested to switch our room two days after arriving when it was brought to our attention. The front desk stated that this was an on going problem and not an isolated occurrance. The windows looked like they had screens which had been bent and with a trailer park behind the hotel Id be willing to bet that security may have been […] an issue for the hotel in the past. Some shady looking people were always drinking beers in the pool and spa area and the air conditioner in our first room smelled like urine. Lastly the tv stations weren't the same for every room. One room got channels that the other one didn't. Overall we both agreed we'd stayed in worse places in the past but this one was definitely on the list. Lees meer
"Late check out"
WE arrived at 12:30 am after 10 hours on the road. I asked if we could have a late check out and the clerk said "no problem" Perfect way to end the long drive, quite room, long sleep !"
