Hotel Barocco in Rome

Loved this hotel - thanks to previous reviewers! Decent location; great service; lovely rooms (albeit small); tasty breakfasts - good value (I've stayed in worse hotels for much more in Rome).

lovely hotel with very friendly staff. nothing was too much trouble. Room was very comfortable although a little small. Great breakfast and service. Hotel location was really heavy for the Trevi fountain and the Spanish steps.

The hotel staff provided excellent service and met all of our needs despite the winter weather. The breakfast service was outstanding as well.

The hotel is on the periphery of center city but as this is a small city, it didn't matter much, though we enjoy walking.

For the cost- not worth the location- close to the Metro but overpriced and an old interior- with the cruise ship feel in the interior corridors. Great service at the counter and at breakfast. Why not just Wiifi all the time for the cost of the hotel? Look elsewhere.

The hotel was well located for exploring Rome. It was located right next to a metro station and within walking distance to the Spanish Steps, etc. The breakfast was fine; in a lovely dining room, cheeses, ham, baked goods, etc.. I chose Hotel Barocco because of the description in the hotels.com website (hotel refurbished in 2010) and the reviews. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. My experience was that this is NOT a 4 star hotel, and that this hotel is NOT a good value. If I were doing it again, I DEFINITELY would choose another hotel. * Be aware that not all rooms have […] been renovated, despite what the hotel description implies. The room given to us was very dated and in much need of a renovation. The furniture was old and dingy, the walls were scuffed and dirty, and the bathroom dingy and dated. * There is no real lobby, just a small, sad sofa near the entrance. * On the plus side, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was good. I would have been satisfied with this hotel if I had paid half of what I did. We stayed in hotels in Venice and Florence that we true to their star rating and description and we lovely stays. I live in Manhattan, so I get the big city hotel thing. This one didn't meet expectations - didn't come close. The bottom line is that you can do better in Rome than Hotel Barocco, and you should. The Hotel Barocco is right off Barberini Piazza which is an easy walk to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon and Piazza Navonne - great location. We took the hop on/hop off bus across the piazza so it's convenience is great. Hotel is small - small entry way and rooms are small but I guess it's Rome. Our room, 23, had a horrible smell like a […] sewer in it and we complained but they couldn't get rid of the smell. We stayed because our sons were in the room next door and it was on the second floor but we should have changed. 4 days in it was too much. It's beautifully decorated in elegant style though, the bed was great and the bathroom clean and large with a rain shower. Our shower didn't drain very well (perhaps the cause of the smell) and I ended up taking a shower in a pool of water. The breakfast was fabulous with an egg menu to choose from - great scrambled eggs. Lots to choose from for cheese, meats and fruits. The bartender, Nicola, is a true gem - perfect English, great martini and the BEST Bruschetta. He even gave me his recipe which is very doable and delicious. We asked for non touristy restaurant recommendations but got lots of tourists. Maybe it's just that Rome is swarming with tourists in June but I would rather have had a smaller, typical Italian restaurant. The food was good but like I said filled with tourists. I preferred our lunches when we just wandered into places. Staff is very friendly and helpful. All in all we'd recommend this hotel just not room 23 as our son's room, 22, was fine. Lees meer

Very nice, clean hotel with helpful people

Great staff, very welcoming, clean and excellent accommodations. The breakfast was superb and was quite a feast if you wanted it. Very conveniently located neat the Trevi fountains. The area is bustling with many restaurants but the noise level was fine in the hotel. Definitely will go back again.

We had the most wonderful time in Rome, the weather - splendid; the people - fantastic!; the hotel was brilliant in every way and its location was just perfect. It looks like Rome has really got under our skin - we will be returning frequently and will not be looking for any other hotel. The hotel was very clean and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The best part of the hotel was the fantastic breakfast every morning that included made-to-order eggs and specialty coffees. The location was great, right by the Barberini metro station and there were tons of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The Trevi Fountain and Spanish […] Steps were within easy walking distance and the #95 bus takes you into the Parco de Medici. The rooms were typical European size (small) but very comfortable and we liked the plush carpeting. Having read a previous review where the hotel management stated that wireless internet would be free as of March we expected it to be so, but alas the cost was still somewhere around EUR$15/day if you wanted internet, so we didn't use it. The hotel staff were very helpful with directions and recommendations for restaurants. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would return! Lees meer

From the moment we arrived the hotel staff were nothing but friendly, polite and helpful. We booked the standard room which was adequate for the city break but extremely comfortable, modern and classy. Breakfast was excellent as was the service. This was our first visit to Rome. The Hotel Barocco was beautiful and the room was perfect. It exceeded our expectations. Everyone was so helpful and recommendations were wonderful.

We were given a room with a poorly functioning a/c and a mildew smell in the annex which is not part of the main hotel and not what I booked. When asked to have the room changed they told me they did not have any despite the fact that I saw at least three people check in after me and be given rooms in the main building. I was told I had been upgraded. […] Well this was not an upgrade. After requesting many times they finally moved me the next day after I spent a sleepless night in 85 dgree heat. Also I paid for 15 euros for wifi and it did not work inn the building I was in. It only worked in the main building. When talking to the front desk guy he told me that the a/c was working but that Americans tend to like freezing cold rooms and that most a/c's in Europe don't cool that well. Well I stayed in 3 other 4 star hotels and one b&b and they were all able to cool the room to were I needed which was only about 75 f where I keep my house. If he felt this was an American issue then why not just switch me to a different room and put a European in the one he gave me. By the way the room I was moved to was way better than the supposed upgrade in the annex building but the a/ c in this room did not work well either but it was slightly better. The morning front desk person was more helpful than the one at night but overall it is a joke that this is red a 4 star hotel. I travel a lot and have been throughout Europe and Italy and this is at best a 2 star. Stay away from this place if you like a/c or actual value for what you paid. Lees meer

Hotel Barocco has charm, comfort and a perfect location. The ambiance was wonderful. The staff was friendly and incredibly helpful. I happened to be traveling with my parents, but this hotel would be a perfect romantic getaway as well. Breakfast was included and we found it to be a perfect start to our day. This was my 4th trip to Rome so I knew Barberini was the ideal location, a short walk to everything. The room was lovely - obviously decorated quite recently and had new plush carpet. The bed was super comfy andthe bathroom was lovely too. We had a small balcony off the bathroom which was nice. Via Vittorio Venetto is a really busy noisy street but […] worry not, the windows are new and block out all the noise so no problems with that at all and you have a nice view of the fountain. We only stayed for the evening, but the hotel was very classy in terms of rooms, appointments, and staff. We had only two reservations, which have to do with the fact that (1) our room overlooked the Piazza Barberini, which meant that there was a fair amount of traffic noise late in the evening and very early in the morning, which was not a problem […] for two in our party but a problem for one light sleeper in our party, and (2) the air conditioning was cool but not really cold. The hotel staff was very helpful regarding every aspect of our stay. They arranged transportation for us to the airport, offered assistance with touring, responded to every request with graciousness and promptness. Centrally located. Very convenient. Very Clean. Nice facilities. Food is very very expensive. Service is average. Not comparable to even a one star hotel in Asia. You stay here for the location, not because of its charm or warmth.

Very spacious room and bathroom with great amenities for an European boutique hotel. Awesome location!!! Metro station is just around the corner, less than a minute walk. Safe and quiet neighborhood, but still has restaurants, deli, and pharmacy open late at night within a minute walk. Service is superb, personable and helpful. Excellent location and very knowledgable and helpful staff.

Great location, and so if the price is right i'd stay here again. however, they had a very outdated room key arrangement in which I had to hand my key to the concierge every time I left. Also the rooms were very dated. However, the staff were very pleasant and the breakfast was nice.

We were happy with almost everything in regards to Hotel Barocco -- Great location, clean and well decorated room, nice staff. Our only issue was that the air conditioner wasn't working. It didn't really bother us until our last night (scorcher). When I asked someone to come check it out, he just played around with the thermostat and said "just see […] what happens." Overall we we're happy with the hotel and especially pleased with the location. Our particular room was not what we expected. Although it was very quite, it was dark and the bathroom shower small with a shower curtain that sticks to your body. We saw other rooms which were laid out better. Barocco on erittäin siisti ja ystävällisen palvelun pieni hotelli. Hotellissa näkyy ikääntyminen joissain julkisissa tiloissa kuten hississä, mutta hotelli on erittäin siisti. Huone (meillä oli se perushuonetta parempi, n 20 m3 jättisängyllä varustettu) oli erinomainen ja varustelultaan juuri tehdyn oloinen. Aamupala on liikemieshotellien tasolla eli […] erittäin hyvä Sijainti Barberini-aukiolla ehkä paras mahdollinen lyhyellä matkalla; metroasemalle 100 m, Fontana di Trevi ja Espanjalaiset portaat muutaman minuutin kävelyn päässä. ７／３より2名で３泊、スーペリアダブル利用です。 まず場所が駅近で至便でしたし、またスタッフもフレンドリーな人が多く気持ちよく滞在できました。 部屋は他のホテルの同クラスと比べ気持ち狭目、カーペットも若干古めながらキレイにはされてました。 朝食も美味しかったです。 また利用したいホテルです。

Hotell Barocco var et veldig fint hotell. Det lå fint til, ikke altfor sentrumsnært så det var stille, men vi kunne gå til handlegater og til ulike severdgiheter. Ellers var det bussholdeplass i nærheten, hotellet hjalp til med billetter og hvilken buss vi kunne ta. Det var lett å finne da det lå rett ved en piazza. Hotel confortable. Los empleados realmente amables y fuimos tratados muy bien. La habitación que nos asignaron estaba en el primer piso de un edificio anexo que contaba con un amplio baño. La habitación muy limpia y la cama comoda. No estamos acostumbados a la falta de espacio pero no resulto un punto de honor. Hotel Barocco ligger med indgang ad en lille sidegade - og man skal se sig godt for for overhovedet at få øje på at der er et hotel. Inden for er forholdene små men hyggelige. Rummet vi fik var ikke stort - men god seng og nydeligt badeværrelse med brus, bidet osv. Servicen på hotellet var super. Overdådig morgenmad og der blev ordnet rum 2 gange dagligt, […] så det var næsten umuligt at stå ud af sengen og forlade rummet uden at den var blevet redt når man kom tilbage. Ganske lille TV - og lidt gammeldags system til Trådløst Internet - der ikke fungere specielt godt når man som os kun skulle bruge Internet på vores telefoner. Særdeles venligt personale. Særdeles centralt belliggende kun 5 min gang fra Den Spanske Trappe og lige ved siden af Metro-station Lees meer

Hotellet hadde god service, flott beliggenhet og en god atmosfære - anbefales - vi skal tilbake.

We were very happy with the hotel - very pleasing accomodation, good service, a really great breakfast with freshly prepared egg dishes at no extra cost. The hotel staff were also very service-minded and very helpful, booking restaurants and shows at our request. I would recommend it highly.

Io e la mia fidanzata siamo rimasti molto contenti dell'hotel a partire dall'arrivo fino alla fine del soggiorno. Hotel Barocco er et koselig lite hotel i hjertet av Roma. Det ligger veldig sentralt til, med enkel og kort tilgang til undergrunnsbanen. God service, smilende og veldig behjelpelig personell gjorde vår tur til Roma til en positiv overraskelse. Kan anbefales.
