Gramercy Park Hotel in New York

Een bijzonder en zeer aangenaam hotel. Centraal gelegen, juist ook geschikt voor diegenen die New York hoofdzakelijk te voet en per taxi willen verkennen. Met mogelijkheid je terug te trekken in privaat park. Aangenaam dakterras voor ontspannen ontbijt. Zeer goede eetgelegenheden in de buurt (bijv. Trulli) en in het hotel. Schitterende aankleding met […] veel moderne kunst (Warhol, Botero, enz. enz). Enig minpuntje is dat je ook als de airco uit is altijd wel een aanhoudend bromgeluid hoort (vermoedelijk van ventilator/aircomachines), maar dat is bij dergelijke hotels in al weer wat oudere gebouwen vermoedelijk onvermijdelijk. De locatie van dit hotel is rustig, bij Gramercy park. Deze rijke en rustige omgeving geeft rust en is in deze drukke stad heerlijk. Hotel ligt wel verder van winkelgebied Madison, Fifth en ook Soho...

Should have free wifi at least in the lobby.

Was on the seventh floor and they had a fire on the top floor around 2AM. Checked they internet and it happened last year also. Check it yourself on the net. They spent the next day and night cleaning the top floor and kept us up the entire night moving furniture around and mopping up the water. No one at the desk cared. Also they charge $17 a day for […] wireless service. But they do not tell you there is a charge. There are better choices in NY. Lees meer

The only good thing about the hotel was the location and the decor of the room. Besides that it was over priced, they suggested a horrible restaurant, and the bar downstairs played music so loud until four am on week nights that we were up all night bc of the rattling walls and we could even sing along with the music it was so loud. Low key glamor. Beautiful neighborhood, lovely service, good food, cool bar scene. It was perfect for my needs. I chose a higher level room category and they upgraded me to a suite and I could not have been happier. I will stay there gain.

Gramercy Park Hotel seems somewhat past it's prime. Incredibly dry air, impossible to control temperature in room and, at least on the 3rd floor, you might as well be in the disco down stairs. There was no business center, and wifi was 16 bucks a day, so it was frustrating to attempt to use my computer with a wireless card as phone reception was very […] poor. This was a nice hip hotel without all the attitude. Love the location near quite gramercy park but close to everything.

We stayed here over the Christmas weekend and generally found the hotel to be comfortable and pleasant. An interesting plus is the artwork on display, primarily in the lobby. Two drawbacks: our room while comfortable lacked reasonable storage space for clothing. Second, the service generally seemed a bit off, particularly in the restaurant in the hotel. […] Our waiter at breakfast didn't notice that both of us left virtually all of our oatmeal. When he brought the check, I commented that it had been inedible, which basically prompted him to argue the point.....clueless. That said, I'd probably go back. Lovely room , calm , place smells all over of the Gramercy candle , dark and welcoming , great NYC position , quiet , but in between everything

Definitely a hotel with attitude, although the bellmen were very friendly and helpful. The pour perfume through the hallways, so the smells are overwhelming, and the dim lighting annoying. Room was delighful, if a bit cramped. Wi fi was spotty, and the only frustrating room event was not enough outlets to plug in phones, etc. Definitely not for the […] serious business traveler. I love this hotel. The room was gorgeous (they gave me an upgrade) and the staff was warm and welcoming. We at several meals at the restaurant. Some of the best meals ever! It was a perfect weekend. We will definitely be coming back.

Overall was very nice for a night or two stay. Wonderful location for those who don't want to be in the 'middle of it all.' Just felt that the service in the rooftop restaurant was really lacking for a higher end hotel. They made me wait for a table at breakfast (early on a Sunday morning) when there were tables available and then no one came to 'introduce' […] and take my drink order. When my drink was finally brought they still didn't ask me for my food order and I had to tell them I wanted to order. All in all felt somewhat invisible. Lees meer

The hotel property is very well decorated and maintained, especially when you can remember what it had deteriorated into a few years ago. The restaurant was very good and the Terrace was peaceful respite for breakfast. The rooms are small but well appointed in a Moroccan theme. The bathroom was tiny and poorly lit--impossible to put makeup on! I stayed at the GPH the night before my wedding and it was quite a treat. I didn't mention anything to them when I made the reservation, but my wedding planner had dropped my wedding dress off in the afternoon and when I showed up they'd upgraded me to a larger room and had even given me a yummy cake! The service was professional, quick and thoroughly […] nice. The hotel was really quiet -- I had a view of the street and there was very little traffic and no noise, even though it was a Friday night. The amenities were also top quality and the lobby was lovely. I live nearby. If you're from out of town and looking to get away from touristy New York, this area is a good choice. There are big familiar stores clustered around Union Square, but it's also a real neighborhood with real restaurants and stores and delis. It's easy to get to the big attractions, but also easy to ignore them and just blend in with the locals. Union Square is a major subway stop with a ton of taxis and it's easy to get around town from there. Lees meer

loved the hotel--esp the terrace bar, the room was charming although a bit small--had a European feel.

A gorgeous boutique hotel...dark and lovely... wonderful staff... a perfect escape in lovely Gramercy Park, across the street from Gramercy Park, near charming Irving Place, easy walk to many neighborhoods...

The hotel is in a great location and has a superb restaurant. Service is great. The only downside is that the room has too much furniture and therefore feels small and the lights are a bit too low.

We enjoyed our recent stay at the Gramercy Park Hotel. The rooms were nicely appointed. But they were also rather small, as were the bathrooms, and very dark.

Checking in was very easy and the hotel is absolutely beautiful! Unfortunately our bath tub could not be used and we didn't really want to use the shower. The water that came out of the tub was brown with black stuff floating in it. The shower water was also brown but not as dark, it kind of ruined the experience, as one of the reasons I picked this […] hotel was that it had tubs in the rooms. When I told the front desk about it upon check out they just said that they would look into it. I was expecting more of a response than that out of a hotel at this star level. I really wanted to make this my NY hotel but I'm too much of a bath girl and I feel the reaction I got from the staff about the issue was below my standard of service for a hotel this nice. This visually amusing hotel was just what I needed for a quick, two night stay: great staff, good position for what I needed and being able to sit in a private park was an amazing bonus.

I would not recommend bothering to make the required reservations for this bar. It not only was boring the prices were outrageous and they will move you from your table that you have been sitting at to make room for guest who arrive later. Not a very good business practice since 2 of us spent 140.00 on two rounds of drinks in one our and they moved […] us to a table that had one seat. Lees meer

In town to see Yankees, spent 3 nights in a Loft Room. Hotel is convenient to the subway and located in a nice area. The rooftop restaurant serves an excellent breakfast. Room was comfortable and the service was superior. Staff was very responsive, accommodating, and friendly. The artwork is fabulous!

For a quick weekend trip to NYC, this hotel was perfect! An awesome cute park available for guests was a nice treat!

My husband and I tried this hotel for the first time, and were not impressed. It was dark and gloomy. The room was uncomfortable - both the furniture and the temperature wouldn't go below 74 degrees in the summer. The bathroom was cramped and outdated. The window shades didn't block the sun, which woke us up early in the morning. By far the worst part […] is that the hotel claims to actually have a SPA. What a joke! They had two small closet-sized rooms with curtains in the same small room as the "Aerofit" workout area. Therapists were highly unfriendly. It was a disappointment all around. The only good part was that it only took 10 minutes for the valet to bring our car in the morning so we could check out and leave. Lees meer

Our experience at GPH was surprisingly disappointing, We could not tell from one interaction to the next how we would be treated by staff. Most were friendly and courteous, while others behaved condescendingly and as if we were a bother rather than guests. When I aproached one of the concierges to aprise him of an issue we had, he told me it wasn't […] his fault and that he would tell the other concierge. then looked down and continued what he was doing before I approached him. The weekend we were there the rooftop restaurant and bar were not open to hotel guests because of private parties. The hotel itself is quite nice, and having access to Gramercy Park was a perk, but the treatment we received while there was less than stellar. Overall, I found that GPH does not compare with other high caliber hotels in NY, and I would not recommend it. Lees meer

The Gramercy Park Hotel was a wonderfully luxurious way to spend a weekend in New York City. The rooms were well-appointed and modern (although paneled with very dark wood -- not recommended for someone who likes "light and airy") and the service was superb.

This property exudes exclusivity and sophistication. The staff, including doormen, front desk attendant, and concierge, were professional and helpful. The patrons of the hotel seemed to be a fashionable and well heeled set. The hallways,lobby, and bars are dark as the interior is dark overall. The gym was small, but probably very typical of a space […] in Manahattan. Overall the property was quiet. Reservations for the Rose Bar were nearly impossible to secure as there were private parties scheduled to accommodate models and designers involved with Fashion Week - very hip and happening scene for those wanting to experience NY in this way. There were nice restaurants nearby and it was very convenient to access mass transit. Lees meer

This was a very chic boutique hotel, but I am not a boutique hotel person. The rooftop lobby was very nice, but I went to read a book there and it was so dark at night, you could not read. The rooftop area is meant for socializing, not relaxing by yourself. Also, the lighting in the room was very dark, including the bathroom. I could not see to put […] my make-up on. Stayed here after our City Hall wedding. The staff at the desk were fantastic: upgraded room, surprised us with a cake later, etc. Amazing. The other staff...not so much. At the rooftop bar, we were greeted by an inept server (didn't show us our bottle of wine or even let us taste, just poured the whole bottle into four glasses and walked away) who […] later mischarged our friend's card. Later, coming back to our room, the hotel staff ushering late-night folks up to the bar was very rude when we simply wanted an elevator to our room (they were all being used by the bar). Overall, very, very pretty and spacious rooms and a lovely place to stay. Also -- we didn't, but you can ask the hotel to let you into Gramercy Park next door, which is private and secluded. The staff was amazing, and so was the room. Loved this hotel.

Rooms are small but really well designed. Roof terrace is lovely though cocktails extortionate! Decor throughout hotel is fantastic. Main annoyance was rude girl on door of the main hotel bar the evening that we tried to go there - she wouldn't let us in without a reservation despite the fact that it was half empty. We had not been told at check in […] that it was necessary to make a reservation. Overall though, a great stay. Lees meer
