Wij hebben 4 nachten verbleven in dit prima hotel. Centraal gelegen vlakbij de Navypier en maar twee blocks gelegen van Michigan avenue!! Op loop afstand te doen! Het Hotel heeft ruime kamers en is schoon! Het ontbijt kost $ 18,-.p.p Wil je dit niet? dan is er direct naast het Hotel een bagle store waar je volop kunt kiezen, en een stuk goedkoper! Ook het personeel bij de lobby zijn zeer behulpzaam en de portiers erg vriendelijk! Al met al voor ons een leuke tijd en raden dit zeker anderen aan!

Vlakbij vliegveld. Mooi en modern. Ontbijt is op z'n Amerikaans. Gewoon slecht. Dichtbij vielgveld is makkelijk maar ongezellige omgeving. Goed voor 1 nacht.

Ligging.
Congress Plaza Hotel ligt in het centrum van Chicago, op loopafstand van Auditorium Building and Theatre, Art Institute of Chicago en Buckingham Fountain. In de buurt liggen ook Millennium Park en Skydeck Ledge.
Hotelvoorzieningen.
Dit hotel in Chicago biedt diverse eetgelegenheden, zoals een restaurant, een koffiebar/café en een bar/lounge. Tegen betaling kan in alle openbare ruimtes een snelle internetverbinding (draadloos of via kabel) worden aangeboden. Dit hotel met 3 sterren beschikt over zakelijke voorzieningen waaronder een businesscentrum en vergaderruimtes voor kleine groepen. Het personeel kan op verzoek een huwelijksservice, een cateringdienst voor evenementen en zakelijke diensten regelen. "Congress Plaza Hotel, Chicago"
Op internet aardig wat minder positieve recensies over dit hotel gelezen. Blijkbaar ligt het erg aan welke kamer je hebt. Wij hadden een king kamer op de 11e verdieping met een fantastisch uitzicht! Ja, er werd nog steeds af en toe gestaakt voor het hotel (maar niet alleen daar), ja de geur van het schoonmaakmiddel (?) is niet echt fijn (neem een geurkaarsje […] mee en bovendien ruik je dat alleen bij binnenkomst) en tja, het houtwerk mag hier en daar wel wat aandacht krijgen, maar.... de kamer was zeer ruim, schoon en netjes, het bed groot en heerlijk, de badkamer compleet en de lokatie fantastisch! Genoeg eetmogelijkheden in de directe omgeving. De volgende keer gaan wij gewoon weer naar Congress Plaza! Voor wie wil genieten van een fantastisch uitzicht; de 97e verdieping van het Hancock gebouw is tegen betaling te bezoeken (observatory), maar de hele 96e is een cafe met idem uitzicht waar je heerlijk kunt lunchen of alleen een kop koffie/fris kunt drinken! Dit hotel ligt op loopafstand van verschillende bezienswaardigheden binnen 'the Loop'. Een aanrader als je een luxe hotel zoekt, maar niet te luxe. De kamers zijn netjes en het personeel behulpzaam.

We hadden meer verwacht voor de prijs dat we betaalden voor de hotelkamer, ofwel zaten we in het verouderde gedeelte, weinig comfort en nogmaals verouderde kamers

"Congres Hotel Chicago; een aanrader"
Het congres Hotel in Chicago ligt aan Michigan Avenue; het shopgedeelte van de stad. Ook ligt het aan de rand van het Millenium Park, dus voor veel wat wils. Service is goed en vriendelijk. Het bed (voor mij) was te zacht en hobbelig, maar dat was het enige nadeel. Gezellige koffie bar 1 blok verder op Michigan.

Goed hotel voor wat we ervoor betaalden. Als je tijdens een beurs een hotel voor deze prijs kan boeken, moet je altijd tevreden zijn. Het hotel is duidelijk aan renovatie toe, maar het was zeker niet storend, het gaf het wel een extra dimensie van vergane glorie

Ruime kamer met lake view. Ramen kunnen open en de airco maakt weinig herrie. Douche prima.

The lobby of the hotel reminded me a bit of the Ambassador Hotel of Milwaukee. The mosaic tile work, high arced ceilings and gilt framing, and marble work is beautiful. The hallways leading to the rooms are clean and smells of flower scented soaps, which helped exemplify the hotels age and history. The room I stayed in was nice and not overly spacious. […] Given the hotel's age, I was able to look past the signs of wear and sag in the ornate woodwork. The mattress could have used an update as well. But overall, for the price, I would recommend the Congress to anyone who was looking for a convenient place to stay in Chicago. Beautiful, historic old hotel. We had gorgeous views of the lake and downtown area. Very enjoyable stay.

The room was big with nice tall ceilings. The shower had trouble heating up. But the bed was the MOST comfortable bed I have ever slept in!
"TRADE SHOW"
This is the 3rd time I've stayed here so I knew what to expect. Still VERY surprised to see the Striking marchers outside the Hotel door. Not very welcoming. This has been going on for about 7 years now.
The location of the hotel is great, it is a really neat hotel and the public areas are all in real good shape. The room we were in could have gotten a little more maintenance and restauration - but everyone has its own point of view. The parking structure is some kind of an adventure - I wouldn't recommend self parking.

We have stayed at the Congress many times over the last 15 years. We return because we like the atmosphere. It's clean and the staff helpful.

Old hotel, not renovated. Small bedroom and very very small bathroom. Nice staff who gave us a king size bed without extra charge. The location is good but a bit far from the very center of the city.

Great location! Very close to the museum and theatre district. The hotel was good value.
Hotel was conveniently located for the activities that our family was doing - training for runs, walking, shopping on State Street and visiting friends at the colleges. Only complaint was we had no way to cool the room. Was very warm, but we survived. The rooms we had were older but very clean. Since we had small children in tow, the larger size of […] the older rooms worked great for us. Overall , we had a good stay. Oh and very easy access and valet parking was great and reasonable. I did not receive my requested wake up call for either day that I stayed at your hotel. That is not good service. Otherwise the hotel is clean, quiet, and in a good location downtown. Your door man was very good both days in getting a taxi for me.
Used to be an old grand hotel , now just old. Pictures and lobby look much better than the rooms. Rooms are a good 20 yrs. past remoldeling. The interior room doors were pathetic, numerous coats of paint, paint peeling, chipped and damaged wood. $10 a day for internet , and no wifi, when most hotels wifi is free. "Pretty rough condition"
The price was right, but the condition of a non-renovated room is quite poor.

The hotel is old and not well taken care of, but the real issue I had was the staff has been on strike out front for over a year, so the hotel is dirty, the staff is disgrunteled and rude. The Congress was o.k. My first rooms previous guests were smokers. I couldn't stay in that room & the desk staff found me a new room immediately. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. Bed was fair.

I guess you get what you pay for. I chose this hotel for the low price primarily and the location secondarily. The facilities are in dire need of updating. The room was too cold. When I complained, they sent up a space heater?

"Overall, a great place to stay"
The location is one of the best. Being old, the rooms have character and good views. A/Cs canbe updated. But overall, a good stay, good service and a perfect location.

I realize the hotel is old, but the holes in the shower and in the walls in the hallway are repairable. The beds were the most uncomfortable beds I have slept in for a Hotel and the air in the room did not work so it was VERY stuffy and warm. I will say you have the friendliest staff!!

The hotel rooms are large and clean. While I'm sure during the warmer months the location is fantastic, the freezing wind blowing down Michigan Avenue makes walking around the neighborhood pretty unpleasant.

"Location couldn't be better"
This hotel could not be in a better location. The room was big and had character, the bathroom was a little small, but that's to be expected. We liked it.

There was absolutely no hot water not even luke warm. When we checked out i mentioned that, the lady said ohh sorry. No compensation, nothing! Very rude!

Almost cancelled due to many not so good reviews. Glad I stayed! The location and price were both great. The striking workers were a non issue, my room was comfortable and clean, the lounge was a nice hangout between other stops. Yes it's an older historical hotel, but well kept I thought. Would definitely stay there again!
"Perfect location, 5 days and no complaints"
Stayed 5 nights for business, 10th floor room was spacious, clean, and adequately equipped. Some traffic noise from the street did reach the room, but didn´t bother me. Perfect location in the city center, right next to the huge Millenium park and lake front so you could pop out for a nice walk whenever you had half an hour to spare. Not very friendly. The maintenance guy was great at helping us get the tv on. It was the end of April when we stayed (40 degrees outside) & they had already turned the heat off -they sent up a portable heater. Rooms were somewhat clean. Very expensive for what you get.

The concierges were A++. Ask for Jose, he can help you find anything!! It is on Michigan ave., so location is perfect! Walking distance to Art Institute, mellenium park & I even walked along Lake Shore Dr to the Navy Pier. Restaurants close & even a couple in the hotel. My only issues were the ladies that helped check in were not the friendliest. Also, […] the single room I was promised on hotels.com turned out to be 1single queen instead of one of the two options given when I booked(two queens or one king). The bathroom was tiny & left much to be desired,The light bulb hung from a hole cut in the ceiling. Normally some sort of plate would cover the hole, I assume. The shower curtain looked pretty cheap & flimsy. The room as a whole was pretty small, but for the location, I guess I understand the pricing.
