Vriendelijk personeel, prima locatie, goed bed, lekker zwembad, zeer goede prijs/prestatie en een prima restaurantje.

goed schoon hotel op venturA BOULEVARD ...kamers zijn gedateerd ook al staat er gerenoveerd (oude dikke tvs en gedateerde badkamers. ) bedden redelijk tot hard .. gratis wifi op de kamer maar in de lobby of business center 7 dollar voor 3 min, geen ontbijt wel cafe in hotel (ziet er wel leuk uit) locatie is goed staat dichtbij U. Studios. toch nog 25 […] min van universal studios ..maar aangezien LA zo groot is moet je echt een auto hebben ..afstanden zijn groot dus qua locatie ..redelijk dicht bij hollywood,universal, venice beach(35 min) santa monica pier(35 min) afhankelijk vh verkeer natuurlijk. Behoorlijk hotel relatief dichtbij Universal Studio's en Hollywood. Mooie ruime kamer (gezin met 2 kinderen) met terras en zicht op zwembad (specifiek aan te vragen bij reservering). Koelkast, koffieapparaat en flatscreen TV aanwezig. Personeel correct. Gangen waarin de kamers zijn gelegen geven een ietwat ouderwetse indruk en ruiken nogal muf (is een […] te verwaarlozen minpunt). Groot zwembad met jacuzzi en bar. Restaurant aanwezig. Gelegen op Ventura boulevard (talloze mogelijkheden tot eten en drinken) en dicht bij autosnelweg (goede verbindingen tot alle bezienswaardigheden in Los Angeles; enkel Dinsneyland is relatief ver - 45 min ). Parking van het hotel is betalend (11 dollar per dag/overnachting). Ontbijten kan in Starbuck . 20 à 30 tal minuten van LAX airport (afhankelijk van verkeersdrukte). Lees meer

The Lodge staff were all friendly. The rooms are simple and clean. No luxuries such as fridge, microwave, body cream, robes. Great on site diner where most of the staff is friendly except for one rather tall, large young women who turned when I was trying to get someone's attention and told me in an annoyed voice that my server was right behind me. […] I only needed a pen to sign the check. Excellent neighborhood w/ a grocery store and starbucks across the street and cute downtown Studio City 5 mins away by car. Highly recommend for families on a budget but not for people who require more details. My only criticism is that the pillows are horrible and I used my travel pillow to sleep on. Otherwise excellent location. Ten minutes to Universal Studio and 15 to downtown Hollywood . Lees meer

We enjoyed big heated outside pool in a cold day. It's very warm water. There are starbucks, supermarket, restaurant,around the hotel. I like it.

I was there for business and it must have been spring break. I was next to a room that was having a party till 2AM. The walls are very thin and you can hear everthing going on in the next room. I did call down to the lobby and they sent someone up to shut them up. I asked to be moved to a different room the next day which they did.

Only stayed overnight and we arrived early so luggage was safely locked away until our room was ready. Free shuttle to Universal Studios was great and bellman and his staff were very helpful and accommodating. Patio Cafe was well priced, and food pretty good and the kids saw our big the servings are here. Staff were friendly.

The rooms was average room and the pool is huge. Overall stay was great, except i dont like how they charge for parking per night. The hotel had a nice cafe dinner inside but wasnt able to try the food. I would stay here again due to the hotel being close to universal studio's, downtown LA, and many restuarants close by...

An older hotel but clean. We would probably stay there again

This hotel is old but it does what it can. The rooms are clean and comfortable but they don't impress. I was at an event next door so staying here was convenient. The new owners have tried to modernize where they can but were certainly on a limited budget. For instance, the old bathroom faucets had new handles on them but the spout was much older (and […] of a different style). The shower nozzles were new but still only about 5' high (and I am over 6' tall). Why didn't they spring for one of those "S" shaped pipes that raises the nozzle to a reasonable height? Wear and tear shows everywhere. A lot of exterior electrical conduit was haphazardly placed and clearly a retrofit done on the cheap. The exterior and parts of the interior is quite dated and heavily coated with paint that is chipped in noticeable places. The elevators have graffiti scratched into them. The TVs were still CRT models, not flat panel LCDs. None of this impacts your security or your sleep but it does destroy any ambiance you may have hoped for. The restaurant has limited hours and a ho-hum comfort food type menu. The tiny lobby bar opens around 5pm and was long closed by the time I got back to the hotel at 11pm. great hotel very clean,friendly staff old hollywood feel great cafe to have breakfast excellent food!

Checked in at 3 hoping to relax for 2 hours. Screaming children in room next and I had to turn tv on very loudly to block them. This went on for 2 hours. It was a big birthday party. At 1 AM college students were having an all night party that lasted til 5:30 AM. I didn't get any sleep and management never tried to stop noise. This place is a definite […] no no no!!!! I liked this hotel. Nice rooms, nice, big pool (too chilly to swim while I was there), very pleasant staff, good price. It is located on Ventura Blvd. and, apparently, close to a firehouse. I would recommend a room off the street. The restaurant has pretty good food and choices.(and does room service). Free Wi-Fi also helps. We are very happy with our stay at the Sportsmen's Lodge. It has become our first choice when visiting Los Angeles.

Sadly, after staying at the Sportsman's Lodge for over 50 years, I would not do so again. It's just going downhill, FAST. There was no TV remote in my room, the towels were thin, and now they're charging $11.00 parking. Also, I was bitten by a spider on my hand while sleeping, and it became infected. I know this could happen at any hotel, but it did […] happen there, because I'm sure, as one more cost cutting idea, they are not spraying for insects or spiders. Sportsmen's Lodge has been around for years and has a long history in San Fernando Valley, and you can tell that it may have had some charm at one point in time. Unfortunately, the hotel looks tired inside and out. Knowing some of it's history, I didn't expect it to be completely moderized, but it's obvious that they've done their upgrades in stages, […] and even those look like they need updating. I will say that the staff was exceptionally very friendly and helpful, and they hotel has free wi-fi, which was great since we needed to work during our trip. If you're looking for a place to lay your head overnight, it's fine, but there's no reason to hang out there on your vacation. Lees meer

Sportsmans Lodge is one of those iconic hotels from another era that could really be something special,but misses the mark.First,let me say,its location is really great.Sitting on a big piece of land in Studio City,the hotel is safe,convienent,and a little bit charming,but very "dated".The hotel never feels musty or dirty,it just needs a cosmetic overhaul […] to bring it uop to speed....Here are a couple of tips 1.Make sure there are no proms,or school events going on there during your stay.We had a bunch of hard partying high school kids being really loud until the wee hours(the rooms are soundproofed decently,but not great...). 2.The coffee shop is pretty good for breakfast,and fairly inexpensive... We have been looking for a quiet, clean, reasonably price place to stay when we go to the L.A. area and came across Sportsman's Lodge off of a Yelp review. Have stayed there twice and enjoyed both visits. The staff is super friendly. Rooms are clean and quiet and there is lots of parking. This is a very cool, well maintained old hotel. For the price you can't beat it.

This motel is advertised as "classic Hollywood" which is why we chose to stay there. Well, it missed the mark. We were expecting the good vibe of a boutique hotel coupled with classic mid-century detail. There was very little good vibe for us. It's ok but seems to attract a lower income, working class type guest, plus a lot of older retirees, which […] is fine, but not what we would expect from a place being marketed as it is. The deco has a few mid century details in the lobby, but the rooms and common areas are definitely stuck in the 1980's. Check out the old astro turf that surrounds the pool and the mauve and forest green decor of the rooms and corridors. Updates are needed to match the mid-century image the want to go for. I have stayed at the Sportsmans many times and have enjoyed my stay every time. The only complaint I have is that the restaurant doesn't open until 7:00, which is too late when I have meetings in downtown LA at 8:00. Never the less, I will stay at this hotel again.

Room: The room was clean, comfortable, spacious and included a balcony. The carpet in the room and hallway areas are dated along with the wallpaper. Clean towels, sheets and bed spread. Mini-fridge and desk area. Hotel Staff: Good Parking: AMPLE parking in a safe environment. There is a $10 daily parking fee which is lame since it's self-parking and […] nothing fancy. When we arrived there were 8 tour buses in the hotel parking lot and still ample room normal guest parking. Pool: Highlight and focal point of the hotel. Plenty of space and a mini-bar to grab drinks. Our first night they were showing a movie over the pool area. This was our second stay this year and plan another during the holidays. The staff are especially friendly and helpful, from check-in to check-out. We really appreciate the safe and comfortable feel.

My husband and I were not satisfied with the location of our room, we only get 1 week every 6mos. to take time for ourselves and we picked the room to be a pool view, well we were given the end unit room and you could see half the pool. But the most upsetting was that our main view was of the roof top of the hotel and alll the a/c and pipes running […] everywhere with a sliding screen door that could hardly slide and torn.. so to say the least we did not even use our balcony and kept the sheers closed so not to see the entire mess of the hotel rooftop.. That end unit should be told to your customers, because it clearly is obstructed and should not be an extra charge. what a disappointment and $ extra for nothing used. plus the resturarant was closed for dinner. another plan that we were to have used the restuarant for dinner. And last but not least the lodge says they supply coffee, yea it was for 1 cup of reg. and 1 cup of dec. with a pkg. of 1 sugar packet and 1 dry creamer.. so we went to dennys for brkfst. instead. when they say cofftee than there should be a choice for reg or dec. for both the guests not 1 of each and then toss up who gets what. the only part of the room that was the best for us was the bed was comfortable and sheets sets too. The blanket extra for use in the closet was torn all over and stained. We would be aftraid to book another room thinking we are getting one thing and then all else is changed or tacky. We were promised adjoining rooms as we have kids and even when we arrived they told us no problem. But when they finally go us our rooms, they were on different floors! And the employees did not seem to care at all.

Many activities revolve around beautiful pool and setting. Restaurant was fine,. Rooms need to be updated with new furniture and carpeting. Especially carpeting and lamps. Have stayed at this hotel many times and will continue to do so,. However, it is outrageous that they charge the guests for parking. It is a large parking lot - and since the room […] rates are high- including parking should definitely be included. That scam might change our minds about staying there. Lees meer

The sportsman offers a nostalgic stay in Hollywood of yesteryear. The hotel and pool are very accomodating.

Loved the "retro" feel of this hotel. Pool area is big and clean and seems easy to get to from any part of the hotel. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean and big. Only disappointment was upon checking in I forgot to mention we had a meal discount and although the clerk looked at my reservation printout he did not mention it either. Therefore, […] we missed out on that. We did have a meal in the hotel cafe which was delicious, but the service was very slow. Don't go there if you're in a hurry. Even with that, we enjoyed our stay there and would stay there again. The price was reasonable and the location is great. Seems like it's only 15 minutes to anywhere we wanted to go. Close to Hollywood, Universal's Citywalk, Burbank, etc... Lees meer

Not a bad place to stay, but did not find the hotel staff to be very friendly, had to get high speed internet from room fixed and pool music is VERY loud.

Service was bad I had reservations for non smoking and when I got their they said they only had smoking rooms available and they were rude I kept insisting until they gave me a non smoking I waited for ever. The hotel is too old and expensive I won't stay their again.

First room we were given was occupied by someone else. It was corrected.

The property is in need of upgrading. The reception deck was not very inviting. The desk was enclosed with small opening for service.Overall the property was ok,however I not sure I would stay again.

Sportsmen Lodge is a nice alternative to chain hotels. Clean and friendly with easy access to Universal (close by car, or they offer a shuttle). Our hotel of choice when visiting Universal Studios L.A.

I put up tenants from my apartment who had a bad leak. The were treated very BADLY, the management was rude to them and to me. They were made to wait in the lobby when I had already paid for their rooms and the management asked me to come in person to secure their rooms while I had already paid with my credit card. Very friendly staff upon check-in. Needed extra towel and they were brought to our room within a few minutes. Hotel is older property, but well maintained. Great parking on site. Only complaint is the charge for daily parking in addition to room rate. Since everyone will tend to drive here it is the same as charging a higher room rate for everyone.

This is an older hotel but still in pretty good shape. We were in Hollywood for the week to attend a conference and just needed a place to stay. This hotel workout great for that purpose. We were able to save a lot of money by staying here then at the location that held the conference. I would definitely recommend it over any of the more expensive  […] hotels. Lees meer

I loved staying at this hotel! It was in a very convenient, central location on Ventura Blvd. Our first impression was of movie trucks and catering trucks for Glee. 2nd impression was of an awesome balcony overlooking the pool. 3rd impression was comfortable beds and cool room. 4th impression was the awesome delicious cafe! Very Clean, Friendly Service, Delicious Large Portions of Menu items, Conveniently and centrally located, Clean Pool Area, plain rooms-nothing fancy but we didn't spend much time there-perfect for in and out all day...beds comfortable. Bathroom sink fixture too small for the sink, dripped all the time, bathtub faucet didn't completely shut off when […] shower was on but all in all the bathroom worked to our satisfaction. The Sportsman's Lodge is a little tired but plenty comfortable and groovy. New management is refurbishing the hotel but I hope they don't obliterate what's great about it, the aura of swingin' days gone by. large heated pool & good food from the cafe are a big plus. Location on Ventura Blvd can't be beat. Why not stay somewhere with character?
