Silver Springs Moran Hotel in Cork

We visited Silver Springs on 19th to 22nd February, 2012 for three nights having booked into a junior suite. There were problems with the room and the service during our stay and we felt that we had little option but to complain to the manager. On the night before our departure we complained to the duty manager and followed up after our departure with […] the hotel manager - a Mr Eoin Daly. Unlike many hotels there is a difference at Silver Springs and the manager listened to our criticisms agreed with some and disagreed with others but one fact emerged is that they care about their hotel. To make up for our bad experiences we were offered a revisit to the hotel at a small contribution. We visited the hotel again for three days - 20th to 23rd March and am glad to say that most but not all of the problems have been sorted. The only minor issue was the drink prices in the bar and restaurant. The restaurant price is a little higher than the bar price and whilst having some drinks in the bar on both trips the incorrect higher prices were applied in the bar. Overall, we believe that the management do care and with such an attitude a pleasant stay can be assured and if problems do arise a listening ear is not too far away. Recommended very highly. nice clean warm hotel, friendly staff, excellent room rate

the hotel staff were fiendly and helpful. the bar food, lunch toasted sandwich was burnt,and the salad had wilted. the room was uncomfortablly hot, and the heating could not be adjusted. for this reason i would not stay in the hotel again as a peaceful nights sleep could not be had

great location lovely entrance reception and breakfast service etc, room had been updated but was still very dated in areas esp the bathroom the only major issue i had was the walk to the leisure centre and the very poor standard of quality finish and hygiene to the poolside specifically and Jacuzzi

children should be kept out of bar area after 10pm otherwise atomsphere and music was excellant

A bit far from Cork City and expensive to get there by taxi. The bus service is not easy to use as there are no pedestrian crossings so it is very difficult to get across the road to the bus stop. Apart from that lovely hotel, friendly staff and good accommodation with pool facilities available.

The only bad thing was the swimming pool wasn't great.

Although not in the middle of things in Cork, the Silver Springs is what you would expect of a 4 star hotel, and then the rest. Great comfort, service and facilities at an excellent rate. As a regular business traveller, it is one of the best hotels in Cork i have tried so far.

Really great rooms - the suite is amazing. Clean and very nice. The steak we had at the upper floor restaraunt was delicious by American standards. The other food looked really good too. We had a great stay and the staff was very helpful. Stay away from room service (Our Irish breakfasts came to us cold and soggy and were expensive) and the lower restaurant […] (as the food here is not very good). Turns out that room service comes from the lower restaraunt... Budget about 22 euro each way to and from the Airport by taxi and about 10-14 euro into town centre each way - it all adds up. Also the pool was an off cite 7 minute walk up a hill and was a bit like a public pool. Not clean. Lees meer

Great hotel!The location isn't the best as it's about a 10 euro taxi away during off peak times but that would be my only complaint.Otherwise, well worth the price i paid and i'd stay there again.

WE stayed at Silver springs recently for one night (2 adults, @ Children. Excellent service, reasonable prices and excellent value for meals. Above all exemplary 5* service from Sam (Hotel restaurant).

When my partner and I arrived at the hotel we were greeted by the hotel staff by a rehearsed speech almost like the safety announcement on a plane. Although we did not ask for a smoking room this is what we were given and the room had a horrible strong smell of smoke which was in my clothes when we left. My partner and I left the hotel that night separately, […] each ordering a separate taxi from reception. We waited up to a 45 minutes each and then decided to go to reception, where we were abruptly told that they rang our room and we didnt answer so they would have to ring another taxi, this was not true. Very noisy location, rooms too hot and couldn't turn down the heat. Leisure centre is 6 minute walk and us very old the pool is cold and jacuzzi wasn't working. Bar food was nice and staff were friendly.

The hotel is way out from town. rooms are stuffy with no air conditioning you cant open the window as very noisy road. very noisy at night impossible to sleep people outside our window. leisure centre away from hotel up a steep hill. overcharge in the bar for wine 5. 70 euros on menu 6.00 euros charged at the bar.Would not stay again old fashioned hotel […] dated,no music or entertainment at night. We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and found it a very plesent stay. The only problem i found was i could not get yfiy on my computer.

Good for business, but do not expect to be downtown as the hotel is far away from everything.

Lovely staff, great food in bar and for breakfast. Lovely room. Very satisfied all round. Would definitely go back again.

We had a large sporting group mix of children and adults staying at hotel. The service was very good and the staff very helpful. All had a great time in the hotel and the sports complex. Enjoyed the bar menu and the entertainment in the lounge. We will use the hotel again on our next visit to Cork!

Hotel and staff were very nice however situated on the main road so noisy if you like to open a window. Room was very nice but bathrooms not so unless you like 80's style avocado!

i /we stay at silversprings cork 5/6 times a year every thing about it is goog from staff to food both bar food new menu and restaurant highly reccomend brendan ward dublin ireland

the hotel is lovely and the grounds it is in are beautiful. staff couldn't do enough for you. good food and bar menu was great. would recommend to friends and family.

The entry way, building, and restaurant all make this hotel look four stars. Once you get to the rooms though you find out otherwise. Other than the flat screen tv the room was very old. It feels like a late 80s early 90s hotel.

We stayed one night in this hotel.While it is a bit out of Cork because the parking problems in middle of Cork location is OK.The friendly staff were a delight to deal with. Room was very acceptable for a one night stay meals were of a good standard for the price..

We had a great stay at the Moran Silver Springs Hotel in Cork and hope to return again soon. The staff were very friendly and also professional. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast was delicious and the bar menu very reasonably priced. The only downside was that they do not really cater for Vegetarians, as they do not really offer any […] choices. This would not put me off staying through, as the friendliness and cleanliness of the hotel was excellent, but it would be a real 'bonus' if they could introduce a few more Vegetarian options in their menus. my wife and i stayed here for 3 nights&we were very happy with the hotel its staff&service.......

First impressions of this hotel as we drove up is very dated. The reception is new an the staff are helpful but the rooms and bathroom are old fashioned. Also the room we stayed in was very noisy even with the windows closed. As the hotel is right beside a busy main road this is a problem. Myself and a friend stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was very nice and clean. The staff were extremely friendly. The fitness centre is not attached to the hotel and is a few minutes walk away up a very steep hill. The hotel is located in Cork city, however it is a 40 minute walk into the city centre or €10 by taxi. I […] would recommend this hotel for a quiet , relaxingstay, however if you are looking for someting more lively, it is a little too far outside the cit centre. Lees meer

Big spacious family room - super B and B deal with use of pool. A good base for seeing Cork and around. Great staff, quiet rooms/clients, lovely food. Highly recommended for family break

We stayed here on stag doo but you would not believe this place is for such a thing. Too it's credit It meets the needs of all, has more than a touch of class if your looking for a more up market hotel to stay. It could be a business meeting, quiet break great location outside of town. Staff were fantastic. Would recommend a taxi in and out of town […] but we did enjoy the walk a couple of times. This hotel is very nice. Conveniently located off of main road. But, not within walking distance of any restaurants or activities. The fitness center you're allowed to use as a guest is great, but you have to drive 3 min up a very steep hill to access it. Also, there is limited parking near main entrance of hotel, but there is ample parking on other […] floors and you can get access to hotel on that floor. Overall, hotel was very comfortable, staff was friendly and we enjoyed our stay. I would stay there again. Lees meer

I have stayed in this hotel a number of times before. It is comfortable and well located on the edge of the city with good food and entertainment. On my most recent visit there was no TV remote control in the bedroom, the hairdrier did not work and the WiFi kept disconnecting every few minutes in the bedroom. We asked reception for a replacement TV […] remote control but none was delivered. Is the standard slipping at the Silver Springs? I may try it on another occasion but there is a wide range of very good hotels and guesthouses in Cork so I will probably try another hotel next time. Lees meer

satyed two nights and was glad for it. room was adequate but was often cold was quite a bit of dust in certain areas,food was ok as was room service , front desk staff were very pleasant to deal with but ny biggest problem was the pool and gym facilities , it was the main reason I chose this hotel and was annoyed to be told it wasnt within the hotel […] butin a fitness centre a 10 min. walk from the hotel. The pool and all its facilities were absolutely filthy with slime on the floor of the showers and grime built up on the walls of the pool . actually was worried I would catch something in there so did not stay long at all. I mentioned it to the front desk on checking out and the girl sen she would send an email to the related fitness centre . overall the hotel was adequate but is nowhere near the four star status it enjoys more like two stars, wont be staying there again and would not recommend anyone to do so. really enjoyed stay in this hotel, atmosphere was lovely and would recommend it to others.

Definitely recommend the junior suite. The jacuzzi was fantastic! Bar food and breakfast were both excellent!

very nice hotel-bit out from city but very friendly staff and reasonable prices for food and drink. yes would def recommend it.

Lovely hotel, staff very good. As a person who has to follow specific dietery requirments (coeliac disease) I found this hotel very helpeful, ate both breakfasts & dinner here, staff willing to help & cater for my condition. Hotel is slightly outside city so a car would be benifical (a taxi is approx €11 each way). Leisure centre close by, but it is […] a bit of a walk up a steep hill. I thought the rooms were as good as we needed, I wouldn't bother paying the extra 100e to have slightly more space or newer decor as the Clarian has. Taxi was cheap and quick to the city and back, €10 each way. We didn't have breakfast. Vary convenient for a night out in the city. Room was clean, comfortable, quiet and modern enough, nice furniture, […] bed, ES. Staff were v friendly. The only niggle was there was a smell of the previous smoker on the bed, even though it was a non smoking room. Lees meer

not convenient for town centre without transport, but great for a base if driving out...very close to all major routes in/out of cork.

Traveling through Ireland we had stayed at other hotels, but this was just that little bit better. A special notice should be given to the cheesecake. Also great service at the receptiondesk.

We stayed in the Silver Springs for a family weekend away and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had dinner in the hotel on both nights and the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was lovely.

Checked out the reviews before I went and it was exactly as they said... I got a room to the front - Very Noisy if your not use to traffic noise make sure you get a room to the back.. Bathrooms were small - but no smaller than your average hotel... Bar staff were very slow with service and the bell on the tables either dont work or they just ignore […] them... Girls on the front desk very helpful so dont be afraid to ask....if you need anything Overall not bad for the price not a 4 star experience though....Maybe 3.... Lees meer
