Hotel Epsom in Genève

Goed en mooi hotel. Goede ruime kamer. Personeel zeer vriendelijk en meedenkend. Wij gingen voor de autosalon. Werd geadviseerd door personeel om met openbaar vervoer te gaan. Kregen een gratis dagpas voor ov van het hotel. Het restaurant is goed, mooie kaart, goede wijnen. Ontbijtbuffet zeer uitgebreid.

This is a nice clean hotel for a reasonable fee. It is 8-10 blocks from the train station, so pulling our luggage that far was harder than anticipated. The breakfast buffet (no close by alternative) is way too expensive: 30 swiss francs per person, for four of us it was 120 swiss francs or $150 for a breakfast. Plus, they have the unexplainable WiFi […] policy - it is free in the lobby for non-paying customers but it costs you in your room as a paying customer. Lees meer

I stayed two nights in Hotel Epsom on my arrival to Geneva in the morning, the staff were kind to allow me to check-in early. The room was small, but it was OK.

I was searching for a hotel with a lake view but didn't want to pay the $600+ rates at the well known hotels on the lake. I spotted Hotel Epsom and noted that they did have lake view rooms at rates substantially less than the lakeshore hotels. Even though this hotel is set back from the lake by a couple of blocks, the hotel is high enough and the buildings […] in front are low enough that you actually can get a lake view from some of the rooms (make sure you ask and there will likely be an upcharge). Service was great and the staff was very helpful. Location is very convenient to the tram lines and it's possible to walk from the train station, but I would recommend taking either the #15 or #13 trams instead. Only drawback is that the location is a bit commercial. However, it offered a good value and nice view (from my room), I'd stay there again. Lees meer

To assist other travellers, Hotel Epsom is a 7 to 10 min walk from Geneva's main train station. If you have lots of heavy luggage you can catch the tram only a few stops and Hotel Epsom is right there down the street. Otherwise, there is no need to pay for a taxi to get to the Hotel. It is a pleasant walk and fully paved. We enjoyed our stay in the […] Hotel for 1 night. It was very quiet, modern and clean and had a real bathtub as well as a shower. Hotel Epsom is also a very close 5 min walk to the shores of Lake Geneva and 2 tram stops to the UN headquarters. If you have an unusual train or plane journey departure time, the Hotel can mind your bags for the day. There is no extra charge for this. We recommend this Hotel and would stay there again. We liked the hotel and the prices was very good compared to similar offers. The location was a little bit futher off, which we didn't mind.

High standard service and facilities. Although I think breakfast should always be included in the rate. I was charged separately for it, but the variety and quality of food on the counter wasn't worth that much money. Not that it was of poor quality or anything, it just wasn't outstanding.

The Epsom Hotel is part of the Manotel group. The qualitative standards are very much comparable among the Hotels of the group. Rooms are clean and large enough. Personal is kind. The differences in the number of stars within the Hotels of this group are not related to different wualtiative standards, but to existing services. The three Stars of the […] jade Hotel are therefore not meaning that the quality of the rooms is less, but simply that the Jade Hotelm which smaller than the Epsom, has no restaurant. Lees meer

The hotel is in excellent condition with a modern lobby and restaurant with lots of natural light. They alsohave a bar. Great location- two blocks from the lake front and a 15 min walk to the train station. Lots of good restaurants close by including Lebanese and Indian and fabulous Gelatomania which always had a line out the door at Place de Navigation. […] Rooms are modern and have free wifi. Staff was efficient but not friendly. Got the feeling that they are used to business travelers. Small but adequate fitness room with free weights, stairmaster, treadmill. Would stay here again. Quiet and comfortable room. The Epsom is well located for the main train station (Cornavin, 5-10 mins walk) and the lake. 15-20 mins walk to the old town. Some folks might not like the fact that The Epsom is in The Paquis which has lots of bars and restaurants but is also the red light district (although a Swiss red light district is pretty discreet). Disadvantages […] of this hotel: - breakfast is not included and CHF30 is a lot although it was a very good buffet (but cheaper to have breakfast in the excellent rooftop restaurant called Manora in the Manor department store about 10 mins walk away); - our double room only had one bathrobe and one pair of slippers to share between two people; - the bathroom had one of those ridiculously short shower screen that meant it was almost impossible to have a shower without flooding the bathroom floor. Good value hotel with four star rating. Interior looks to be recently renovated. Our room was next to the elevator and we had some noise commencing early in the morning which didn't bother me, but woke my wife up a few times. Staff were very helpful. Location is good, but not many restaurants or bars nearby.

very average and not that great value -location also not ideal-would not return-

We only stayed one night on our way through town. Got lost on the way there partly due to nearby construction. Weren't able to find too many cute restaurants without walking a bit. Water was also farther away than I though based off the map. Certainly a nice enough hotel. Front desk very friendly. Checkout could be smoother. always stay here or in one of the other manhotels when in geneva. clean, well located, well staffed...bfast hugely expensive but that's the case everywhere in gva; i just go to a nearby supermarket to by something there instead. not too pricey for considering what you get (again, it's gva!) - free internet, etc. really great spot.

The only negative point was the cleaning service. If I am spending a weekend in Geneva, I dont need a cleaning service that wakes me up in the morning with their talking...

We booked at the very last minute (same day than check-in) and at arrival everything went smoothly, as well as that we were upgraded to a better room with a balcony! What a pleasure. The rooms are of good quality, excellent matrasses & a spacious balcony for taking your complementary coffee. The reception staff were courteous and helpful at every enquiry. […] When the ice cube machine was on the first floor turned out to be broken, room-service provided us with ice, promptly and at no extra cost. We are very satisfied, and will gladly recommend it to others. The hotel's location is convenient, 2 stops on the tram from the main station, and it is easy to reach a street full of restaurants just nearby, as well as the lake promenade. It would've been nice if the hotel had a swimming pool, but I guess that's only a priority in mid-summer... We didn't make use of any of the other features like the fitness centre, nor did we have breakfast, but our general impression was one of quality. Lees meer

Overall I was satisfied with my stay. The room was decent for the price in Geneva. I do wish I had gotten it several months earlier when there was a special b/c then it would have been a really good deal, but I was satisfied. Few points to note: Desk staff extremely helpful with ideas for local travel, making dinner reservations, etc. Staff in the […] bar were "around" but I often waited 10+ minutes for someone to appear to take an order. I had dinner one night in the restaurant and had a primary server that didn't speak English. As they team serve, it wasn't an issue, but I was suprised as everyone else at the hotel spoke great English. Location great - near a metro stop and within walking distance of quite a lot. I did expect it to be a little more 'hip' or boutique hotel- like from the pictures, but that was not the case. It's just a hotel and the room was nice but not all that trendy. I would consider it for future stays but I would also look at what other options were available at comparable prices. Lees meer

Reception very helpful and professional and cheerful Accommodation first class . Location within walking distance from the station although if you have luggage 2 stops on the tram is easier than walking.The free bus pass was very useful . I would stay here again and recommend it to others

Beautiful hotel in a gentrifying area 10 minutes from the main Cornavin station (you can walk it easily). Food in the restaurant is great, but expensive. the Bar menu is more reasonable. Rooms are icely equipped and super clean. The major drawback is the mattresses - like sleeping on a slab of concrete. Hotel Epsom is the place that you absolutely want to stay in Geneva. It's really convenient to go to main tain station and the lake Geneva. Especially Lake Geneva is just 2minutes walking distance. Hotel service and the facitlites are the one of the best. clean and pretty big size of the room also the big point. Overall, I have nothing but good things to say about the quality of my stay at this hotel. The room was very modern and clean; the bed comfortable and the room temperature could be set to personal preference (not something which can be performed at many hotels within Europe). The breakfast was typical of most hotels, continental with some hot items. […]  The concierge and front desk were extremely helpful in recommending day trips and calling for Taxi service. The only drawback I would cite is the location of the hotel in proximity to the main parts of downtown Geneva and many of it's central attractions (Old part of Geneva, Parc de la Grange, shopping, etc.). You can walk to many of these areas, however, it is about a 25 - 30 minute walk. You can also use public transportation - tram or bus. Lees meer

Very good hotel, very helpful staff

My flight from ORD was canceled in a day when ~ 100 flights were canceled, pushing my arrival in Geneva back one day. I immediately phoned Hotel Epsom, and was assured by the young woman at the desk that my Sunday night reservation was good for Monday night at the same rate. "No problem", she said. Upon arrival, the reception told me that the Monday […] rate was the rack, or full, rate. After some considerable discussion, he did knock that down slightly. Given the time and a conference in town I had little choice but to accept their offer, and ended up paying 2.6 time what I had though I was to pay. I was still out a sizable sum as I had two rooms for my family. Reception, though courteous, was repeatedly confused, thinking I'd booked via another travel site, and showed little willingness to accept responsibility for the situation they put my family in. From this experience I conclude that either reception is very poorly trained, or they cannot be trusted, or both. In short, you may get a good quality hotel at a bargain. If anything goes wrong, they will clean out your wallet w/ a smile on their face. Lees meer

Booked this for a weekend break with girlfriend. Hotel in very good condition, staff very helpful, all extremely clean (hotel and staff) and the room was very good. Didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on food, though restaurant looked very clean, smart and tempting, and nice bar area. Fitness room looked good, but no pool. Only disappointment […] is the location, about 25 minute walk to the centre of Geneva, and local area doesn't have a 'safe' feel about it, though we had no issues at all. Got caught out paying 20 francs in taxi to go from station to hotel, about 4 minutes traffic permitting, and most of that was queuing time to get out of the station car park! Had I looked at a map before hand, its only a 10 minute stroll and we did head back on foot. (Ok, I guess if you're travelling light.) You can't see the lake from the hotel its a few minutes stroll but nice and flat. Travel pass for the city included in your room rate, but not breakfast, though they did provide us with 50% off breakfast vouchers (usually 30 Swiss Francs - ouch). Be aware that there is a City Tax added to your bill on departure based on the length of stay. 3.60 F per night (about £2) each. Overall a very nice hotel. Lees meer

Chose this hotel having read previous reviews. Decided to pay the expensive rate because of positive comments. We could hear traffic noise from our first floor room but it did quieten at night. Did not take breakfast due to price. Room well equipped. Nice toiletries, replenished, pleasant bathroom with bath and good shower. comfortable bed. The Epsom is great. The only complaint I have is that the AC wasn't working when we were there and it was a little hot. The restaurant was very good. Many complain about the neighborhood - near the red light area. It is, but turn right exiting the hotel (which is in a quiet spot) and you never see the red light district. Me and a colleague were both booked here, we had rooms which were always way too hot. They were at least 85 degrees through the night. I complained several times, but nothing was done. Since I was staying on business the internet is very important to me in order to work, the internet connection is awful, and hardly works. This was experienced by myself […] and my colleague. The Epsom was a great hotel! Very clean and helpful staff. Our room was especially nice and clean as well. The hotel is in the Paquis district, which is the young and some would say "hippie" area. But it's not that far of a walk to downtown/oldtown area of Geneva. The hotel restaurant was also great! Superbe séjour dans cet établissement. Hôtel de qualité avec chambre spacieuse confortable et bien située. Le personnel est souriant sans être trop "collant". Je recommande tout particulièrement cet hôtel pour les jeunes couples en weekend amoureux.

Wir sind sehr freundlich empfangen worden und bekamen sehr gute Informationen, die unseren Aufenthalt in Genf bereicherten. Der Safe im Zimmer ist zu unterst im Schrank. Wir konnten ihn nicht bedienen. Zimmer und Betten konfortabel.

Hyvin toimiva ja miellyttävä hotelli rauhallisella, mutta keskeisellä paikalla Genevessä. Aamiainen hyvä. Kokemusta vain viikonlopusta, joten vaikea sanoa, miten toimii ruuhkaisena arkipäivänä.

Epsom is conviniently located not far from the railway station, in the vicinity of the lake, ithin the alking distance from the dontown and in a nice residential area. The services are very good, rooms are nice. One of the problems - breakfast is not included, but there are plenty of small cafees around. It is highly reccomended.
