Ace Hotel and Swim Club in Palm Springs

Rooms are great. I loved the whole theme. I read comments here about the walls being covered by big canvas and the bed is a mattress on the floor (it's not by the way, it's got short legs) but that's just part of the whole fun interior design of the rooms! On the other hand: you have to pay 20 bucks (+ tax) a night EXTRA (so on top of the rooms you […] already paid for) for what they call the resort fee. I assume that's to be allowed to go the main pool area, I didn't get a whole lot of explanation about it. The main pool area is filled with partying frat guys and girls, very concerned about their self image. So I did not go there once, yet still had to pay the resort fee. Wasted money! However, if your intend is to have a party vacation, then I would really recommend this hotel. As said: the rooms are awesome. Just make sure your credit card works. Mine didn't, due to traveling I guess (although it did work at some other places) and thus I requested if I could pay the guarantee in cash, but this is 500 dollar a night. Unfortunately I don't carry 1000 dollars cash on me and due to the time difference and it being weekend, I could not reach the credit card company. Luckily the staff was nice enough to arrange something, so I only had to pay 100 guarantee a night, but could not use the minibar nor get anything delivered to my room, which is fine, since I never do either of those. Overall, it was fine but since it was the end of Cochella Music Festival, the hotel staff was overwhelmed and not attentive or the service was lacking perhaps the staff was exhausted from the event.

I've stayed at this hotel since they opened a few years ago. Noticeable change in the staff serving drinks at the pool. Maybe they are understaffed? When you're paying 10$ a drink.....I would assume someone would be there to make sure you rack up a bar bill. I'm all ways ready to spend some $$$!! This converted hotel has got to have some stories... Such a beautiful transition. Inspiration and function meet desert getaway at its best. Love this place.

What a great hotel. Nice staff, great food, excellent pool, great amenities. A nice, relaxing oasis in Palm Springs.

When I went to check out, I was presented with a charge and a receipt for a meal at the restaurant that I didn't have! Someone ELSE had charged the meal to my room, signed my name on the receipt, and the hotel put it on my bill. Staff told me at check-out that the charges would be released, but they actually WERE charged to me 2 days later. This wouldn't have been my first choice as we were staying in Palm Springs to see the professional tennis tournament. This hotel caters to a younger crowd and has nice night-life, activities, bar, pool with bar and food service. The rooms were a little over priced for the size and quality, but that may have been because of the time of year. Because […] of the young crowd and bar, it could get a little noisy at night. comfortable, fun, and some bumping beats alllllllll night.

It's a good spot if you want to party. The pool was cool but the dj played slow, weird and boring music! The wall in our room looked like it had dried throw up stains all over it. No blackout curtains in the room, so when the sun comes up, you're up too. Some staff were nice and a couple weren't so nice. The dj at the hotel bar was all over the place […] with his music, but not in a good way. My girlfriend and I weren't the only ones complaining about that. A lot of weirdo people stay there. I love the ACE and usually stay there when I go to Palm Springs. The food is great and the atmosphere is usually comfortable. This trip I was a little disappointed in. They put us in a room above the staff break room. All through the night doors slammed with staff going in and out of the room. It was very hard to sleep. The hotel was not full by any […] means so they could have put us in another room easily. When we mentioned this to the staff they did not seem to care and stated that if we would have booked a more expensive room we would have had a better location. That was very disappointing. I really loved the pool area, and that it is open until 2am! I would recommend it just for that!

Had a great time. Our first rooms bed had dog paw prints all over it. We asked for the sheets to be changed and headed off to dinner/shopping. Came back a few hours later and they were not changed. I found this hotel online and I'm sure happy I did. I booked 2 nights for my girlfriend and I, and it passed the "Girlfriend" test. She told me that I'd done well, and that she'd happily stay there again. This hotel is about 4 minutes from downtown palm springs by car. Overall it was a cool place, the only things that I felt were not my favorite were; […] the drapes are a heavy light colored canvas, which makes the room a little too bright in the morning. The music being played at the pool was some of the worst I've heard. and the pool area itself didn't seem to have a lot of room, and the loungers filled up early and stayed full throughout the day. The showers had the showerhead directly overhead, which made a 2 person shower kinda tough. I wouldn't really recommend this place to people with children, it's more of a grown-up place. It may seem like Ive complained a lot, but it truly is a great place to stay, and i can't wait to stay again. The staff was a young, hip crowd and everyone was really nice. My boyfriend and I LOVE the ACE. The staff is great and the hotel is just perfect for a weekend or week getaway.

The curtains didn't close enough to keep light out in the morning. Very small room, but clean and comfortable. The gym had a couple of machines not working which only left 4 machines working. It could have been cleaner also.

I was traveling with my mom and son and didn't know were to stay when someone from another hotel reccomended if we wanted a fun experiance we should try aces from the front desk to the lounge to out at the pool the service was outstanding and the rooms are a novelty can't wait to go back

The hotel is overpriced for the once a motel that is now an updated wanna be "Boutique Hotel"- I did not like the extra $20 "spa fee" There is a small dirty "spa" with half the equiptment broken? and many locals that come to use the facilities- They are nice people but the place needs a good scrubbing-kinda dirty-with dirty linens and old room service […] dishes still laying around the grounds-Pick these up ASAP- They seem to nickle and dime you as well-Pay for the bikes-the broken spa-the parking- the check in and out is a nightmare-long lines and reservation people that are unprofessional- Seems they need a better manager that oversees the various problems and broken services- I will say that the bar and cafe are good and it makes it easy to eat and drink on the premises-BUT overpriced ! A nice pool but the constant music is too much-I did like that dogs and kids can be allowed in the hotel and pool area- Overall OK for the 30 and under trendy crowd who doesn't care about germs and parting all night- Lees meer

I have stayed at the Ace several times in the past. Always a good experience. Spend the extra $$ for the patio and fireplace. Bar is a little quirky but always interesting. The bar staff is friendly but could be a lot more aggressive about pushing the very creative cocktails they have on the menu. You get the feeling that they are very happy to sell […] PBR all night. We stayed at Ace Hotel PS 2 nights for Xmas with a dog in tow. The patio garden room was very nice and convenient. The "resort fee" of $20 per day is a bogus fee though.

We had to wait over an hour for our keys- despite showing up right at 3pm which is when check in was supposed to be. Everyone who worked their was rude about it. We missed the first day at the pool because the sun set when we finally got our keys. Awful front desk service. The room was dirty and the fridge had half eaten and drank items from the previous […] guest left in it. I called to have someone not it and clean it out- NOT because we had any interest in eating their overpriced food and drinks, but because I wasn't about to get charged for it. That took another hour for someone to show up and I was repeatedly lied to about it. The steam room was out of order- NO MENTION of this on the website- that was a HUGE disappointment to me. When I asked for assistance turning on the sauna- I was told "I'm going to lunch" by the spa worker, at 11am. I'll never stay there again. The icing on the cake was the $15 glass of wine served in a tiny plastic cups by a rude bartender. That place is a joke. Never again will I stay there. Lees meer

Absolutely Fabulous! We loved our stay and we had our 10 year old son with us. He enjoyed it as much as we did. So relaxing and comfortable for all of us. Thank you Ace, we had such a great time because of you!

Great hotel! Unique atmosphere perfect for couples and groups. Perfect for pets

The simple double room was not comfortable. The shower is overhead - coming from the ceiling. Not all women wash their hair everytime - so try not getting your hair wet. Plus the pressure was weak. Room would NOT cool down. Played with the airconditioning all night - had to open the window to get cool air inside. Complained the next morning and the […] receptionist asked if I had called maintenance - no not at two in the morning! She did not even log it so doubt if they will fix it. Beds were uncomfortable also. They have the fridge stocked with all their mini bar stuff so no room when you try to put your own stuff in there. Will definitely NOT stay there again. The hotel has a fun beach feel with interesting decor. The only drawback is that hotel guests are charged and additional $20-$25 resort fee upon arrival.

I've stayed at the Ace before, and I enjoy the kitchy modern atmosphere and the retro relaxed appeal. Resting after a long day on the job, I was able to partake of my favorite martini while sitting in the hot tub with other friendly guests.

I travel a lot, and the Ace is the only hotel I make a point to stay in again and again no matter what the price may be. I ran a marathon in Vegas, and booked a stay at the Ace for the day after and drove the 4 hours just because I was that close. Always great events going on, great amenities, amazing pool/spa, and some of the most comfortable beds […] I've ever slept on! I feel so refreshed after visiting, and Palm Springs is amazing. The hotel staff was friendly. The bed comfy, but the room was dirty. Stains on the window coverings and wall coverings. House keeping would leave food for 2 days. Its kind of a toss up whether or not I would stay again.

The ACE Hotel Palm Springs is basically an over rated motel. Don't forget to bring a pair of your own slippers (Non existant at ACE) to walk around the filthy (slimy stains) floors. Oh and don't forget to add a pair of ear plugs if you plan to get any sleep. Do yourself a favor and look else where for cleaner options.... Ace is really a gross motel […] . Lees meer

Not only did the room service guy take cash for our breakfast but he then claimed he didn't and they tried to charge us for our breakfast twice. They don't allow you to bring in outside liquor, but expect you to pay for their overpriced drinks. Granted their beer selection was good, and their restaurant cooks good meals I won't go back strictly because […] they tagged on a good 30 - 40 bucks of extra costs. The property is as appears on the website...the standard king bed room was a pleasant change from the usual hotel rooms. The front desk and outdoor bar staff were friendly and undertook their tasks in an exemplary manner. For a traveller without a vehicle, it is a GOOD walk into the centre, with the architecture being the highlight. Wireless is poor, […] with an update being in order. For those seeking evening activities, the hotel provided same. Food, is some of the best casual food in the city. Be a fun place for a group of mates to enjoy! Awesome place to stay. Rooms are very unique and clean. Staff was very friendly. The Kings Highway restaurant next door was very very good, best coffee ever. Music by the poolside was very good too. Def.would stay there again

Very disappointing place and not at all like Ace in NY. Arrived on a z Thursday and told room would be ready about 2:30PM. It was not ready until after 4PM and no explanation why over 1 hour after time listed in hotel.com. They charge $. 8.00 per night to park even though long way from downtown. On oth Friday and Saturday nights there was no place to […] park and had to park on street. So many locals use pool no chairs or chaise at pool on Saurday. LOVE IT. My ideal hotel. Coming back soon because I fell in love with Palm Springs. The bike rental is awesome and the pools are really great. The rooms are the perfect combo of nice enough to make you feel like your money is being spent well, but not too fancy that you feel bad if you're not in your hotel all day long.

An awesome experience, the best hotel I have stayed in in the USA Friendly staff and a totally unique hotel experience that captured the theme they were trying to portray with out going over the top.

We stayed from a Sunday night to Friday morning for our 12th anniversary in a Simple Suite. We are aged 32 and 42 and have a laid-back style. In recent years we've been staying in high-end hotels, but we used to spend many a low-budget weekend in Palm Springs when we were first together and so now felt like getting back to our roots without sacrificing […] service. We immediately felt right at home at the Ace. It was chock full of dive-y goodness. The front desk staff were truly pleasant and genuine. If there had been a line to check in, no worries, there were scores of different magazines to read, a cool old photo booth and a souvenir vending machine to play with while you wait. Our room had cool vintage furniture that was funky and interesting but well-made and functional. A refreshing change from the cookie-cutter hotel fair we're accustomed too. It was a great "couples only" room, with a huge doorless, double rainfall-head shower filling the space between the bedroom and living room along with 2 sinks. We had the opportunity to peek in 3 other rooms during our stay and each had different furniture, all fun stuff. Being late September, we didn't see hoards of college kids or families anymore, and the winter season hadn't kicked off yet. When we arrived in our room it was clean and the AC was ice cold, so nice since it was 103 degrees out. But the toilet was running and wouldn't flush. We called the office and explained the problem so they offered us the twice-the-price Ace suite for the night! While they were showing us the Ace suite, maintenance had already fixed the running toilet, so we decided to stay in our first room as it was farther from the potential pool noise just like we'd requested in our reservation and we'd already fallen in love with the Simple Suite's two person shower instead of the Ace Suite's one person shower/tub combo(although the private patio with a fireplace and hammock in the Ace suite was tempting). I stayed here for a night while on a business trip at 29 Palms Marine base. This is one of the coolest hotels I have ever stayed at. The room was very comfortable and I felt as if I was sleeping on a giant pillow. The gym was perfect for what I needed and the pool was very refreshing for an evening swim. I liked that the pool was deep enough to dive […] into and that it was salt water and not chlorine. for the 13 hours that I was there it seemed that I was on vacation and not on a business trip. All of the other "corporate" hotels in the area would have been more expensive and much less hip and less relaxing. Great ADULT hotel! This hotel is hip and stylish, and so are the guests. Very accomodating staff and the grounds were clean and manicured. Awesome pool with live DJ or music playing, poolside food/beverage service, and extended hours. My boyfriend and i checked in and went straight to the bigger pool. We sat on the side on of the pool, the one that was nearest to the center of the hotel. there were two drink service people, a young lady and a man. they would only take drink orders together, like it needed a team effort and never separated. They also only helped the side of the pool […] that i did not sit in. i was there for a total of 2 hours and was never asked by them if i needed a drink or if everything was ok. it was 108 degrees out that day...never once did even one of them look to the people on my side of the pool. they would walk on their side, take a drink order and walk back to the bar to get drinks for people on the other side. I think each of them should have serviced a different side of the pool. i really don't know why it takes two people to take an order and deliver it....the girl was just socializing the whole time. it was really disappointing, my friends go here all the time and recommended it...i will never come back. service at the front desk was great but the pool experience, especially on such a hot day just left a bad taste in my mouth. the price of the hotel was reasonable Lees meer

Okay, so I know it is still blazing hot in the desert in late August, and I understand very few guests stay at the hotel during this time, but I was here again staying the night due to travel for my work. With as few clients to actual pay attention to it was amazing to see how difficult it was to get service. In the bar and by the pool, the staff were […] hiding in back rooms talking and it took several attempts to even be acknowledged, let alone order a cocktail or get a towel. Also, I needed the WiFi to connect to my company's VPN and the service was so slow (56bps or less) that I couldn't even stay connected to my company's network long enough to even send an e-mail.
