The Mansfield Hotel in New York

Mooi, niet al te groot hotel met gratis koffie in de lobby en dicht bij time square en fifth avenue. Kamers zijn mooi ingericht maar wel klein. Wij hadden een kamer met een raam dat uitkwam op een schacht dus daglicht was er nauwelijks en ventilatie ook niet. Maar ik weet van de vorige keren dat je dat ook anders kunt treffen.

Great hotel in excellent location. The staff was very friendly and professional. Rooms were clean and nice..they look just like in the pictures.

This hotel has a great location!! It's just a couple of blocks from time square, central station and 5th avenue. Service id outstanding and there are a couple of good restaurants near by. The only minus could be the Size of the Room -kind of small , but it's Ok of you just use it to rest and keep going. Great option in NY. We'll go back... For sure

We booked our hotel and the rate said double bed or queen bed. Most hotels that say that either give an option when checking in, of if there is more than one guest automatically give you the queen bed. We were given a double bed. When we went to ask about getting a larger bed we were told "we are all booked" then the worker turned away from us effectively […] ignoring us. The room was dirty. We expected a small room, it is New York City, but there was huge dust build-up in the corners. The framing for the bathroom door was seperated from the wall and you could see all sorts of dust build up in the opening. All the fixtures has dust on them. Our bedding had "HOSTLE" written on it in black marker. Every time we passed the reception desk the workers were complaining (sometimes about work and sometimes about personal issues). The internet didn't work in our room for the entire 4 days we were there. They told us the internet was down for the entire block, but I find it difficult that the internet would be down for an entire city block in NYC for that amount of time without it being fixed as buisness can't run without it these days. The neighborhood is nice, and it is very close to theaters, Broadway, Time Square, and Radio City Music Hall. Lees meer

The Mansfield Hotel is a delightful place to stay. Only 10 mins max from most attractions. Very clean & staff is customer service oriented. Will absolutely go back again.

All was great. One suggestion, though: a light in the closet would have been helpful. The room was somewhat dark overall, and it was impossible to see into the closet. Great coffee machine in the library!

The room was noisy all night. It had a window air conditioner installed in such a way that it let all the street noise through. Room was clean.

Nice hotel, friendly staff. First we got a room with view of a wall, but we could change the room without problem. It´s free wifi, but very bad connection.

Hotel was in a very convenient spot for us as we were visiting Time Square and Radio City Music Hall. We were a bit surprised at how tiny the room really was compared to the pictures in their website. Excellent location in the heart of NYC! Friendly staff. Very clean & tidy room. The smallish room size did not disturb as we did not go to NYC to spend time in the hotel room. Can warmly recommend!

Excellent stay in the Fitzgerald Apartment. Staying at the Mansfield, like a couple of the other classic hotels on the block (the Iroquois or Algonquin) feels like going back in time. This is not the place if you're looking for super sleek and modern. Tiny bathrooms, tiny elevators, etc. But the old charm of the hotel remains and necessary modern updates […] (good bed, internet connection etc) made for a comfortable stay. The bathroom had hair all over the floor and bobbi pins so obviously no one cleaned the floor. The bed was very uncomfortable! Tiny room but that is to be expected in nyc. The location was the only good part of this hotel.

If you like to stay in your room and pamper yourself don't go here. The rooms are really small lucky they even fit the bed. If you are 2 people you will be cramped. it's a perfect room for one person who is out all day seeing the town. Oh and forget the internet you are never getting on it. It's Clean, charming, friendly staff.

The only issue is lack of internet service. We could rarely get it (20 minutes total), 2 days x 10 minutes.

Oddly enough this hotel offers cable TV of course but excludes the FOX-news channel! Rooms are quite small. Staff was nice and friendly. Work out gym was nice.

The room was very small and sort of hard just to get around. Being there 3 nights it would have been nice to have a dresser for my clothes; but, the room was unable to accommodate even a small dresser. Had to store my luggage in a corner which further limited space. BEWARE!

great hotel but no wifi made my business trip a nightmare. There should have been alternate/offered service with a nearby hotel, etc. The room was great/big.

I travel to NYC a lot on business and have stayed in a variety of Midtown hotels. This was the first time I've booked Mansfield, however. Now, I understand that hotels in NY are generally a little cramped up as far as real estate goes. But Mansfield must really be near bottom of that list - it is really really cramped up. The lobby, the corridor (god, […] the corridors), rooms, bathrooms - everything's half the size it should be. But don't worry - there are the pros as well: Pros: 1. Location - 44th street is known for the row of high end hotels - Times Sq, Bryant Park, Grand Central are all within a two minute (or 5?) walk. 2. Great Housekeeping - I could see the extra effort they put in arranging my stuff 3. Club Room - although really small, it was very cozy and a good place to talk or just read a book. Also, free coffee/tea 4. Decent room rates for the neighborhood. 5. Free wi-fi - Most good hotels in NYC charge for the wi-fi. Although in my room, the signal was so weak I couldnt connect to the wifi anyway. Cons: 1. SMALL dark room 2. SMALL bathroom (just a seat and a tub, really) - with an external SMALL glass basin. This was a definite turn-off. 3. SMALL cramped up corridors which reminded me of a dorm or hostel 4. In-room Intimacy kits (condoms, etc) for sale - although convenient, makes the hotel seem very shady, although it might not be. Lees meer

I recently stayed at the Mansfield Hotel. It's a smaller old hotel just off of 5th avenue in Manhattan. The lobby offers a very nice social room that is reminiscent of the famous old New York hotels. The room I had was somewhat small and had wooden flooring. There was only one small closet and no dresser to put my clothes into. The bathroom was an average […] size though. Because I was only on the 2nd floor in a room facing 44th street, there was a good bit of traffic noise. It was especially loud at times. However, the price was good for the area and was just two blocks from Grand Central Terminal. I did order a late night sandwich from the limited late night menu to try something and it was really not worth the money. I did not try anything off the main room service menu so cannot say anything about that. Overall, I would say that I had a good experience at the Mansfield and would consider staying there again. Hotel as a whole wasn't bad, though the staff could use a training in enthusiasm. They seemed bored. Perhaps remind them they are working in the hospitality field and customers are coming from OUT OF TOWN and want to feel welcome.

My husband I prefer staying at the Boutique Hotels. We loved the charm of the wrought iron staircases with marble steps, old bookcases and old ceiling fixtures. Our nine year old found the staircases to be very “Cool," she made us going to and from the 9th Floor a few times. The hotel served our purpose. The location was great for Broadway and Subway. […] If you are into spacious bathrooms to put your “Stuff” for a family of three, or would like to unpack you clothes into the dresser, the Mansfield is not the place for you. As others have stated........the room is small, but who cares. I was in the room from about 11:00pm to 7:00am to sleep and as long as there was a bed it was great. The location is fantastic with about a 3 block walk to Times Square and nearby subway stops at Grand Central Station.

We've stayed at the Mansfield occasionally for years. One of our favorite spots. Would definitely go back, especially when they have special lower rates. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

I stayed for one night due to business nearby in midtown. The hotel is gorgeous, the service was excellent and unobtrusive, the room was lovely, and the Aveda amenities were great. The bathroom was a little small, but modern design, first class fixtures, and the rainshower shower head was great. My room was a little chilly, and I couldn't figure out […] how to warm it up, but the bed was comfortable and I was warm enough (I'm always cold, though). The 24 hour exercise room is also essential for me. While it also was a bit small, it had the free weights I needed and an upstairs loft area for my to do my circuit workout, so it fit my needs. Hotel was conveniently located. Rooms were very dark and lighting wasn't that great. Could not regulate the heat in the room and it was stifling.

Very beautiful rooms very nice staff. Conviently located blocks from time square and lots of restaurants.

I've been to NYC many times and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the Mansfield after reading all of the other reviews. I usually spend nearly twice what I paid for this hotel per night and enjoyed it more than any other hotel that I've stayed at in the surrounding area. This place is really cute and our room was fabulous. Cute, clean, and cozy. […] The room was really modern with great decor. We stayed for four nights at the Mansfield, were new to NYC and the location was unbeatable, staff were all helpful, and the rooms were very tidy indeed. The entry level room was a little small, however we were kindly upgraded to a larger one. The bar downstarirs is pleasant and the lounge area is great to kick back and do work. I loved the decor and the service was phenomenal. Hot coffee, expresso, and cappuccino was available free of charger in their parlor/library. It was conveniently located just a few blocks from time square and the theater district. It just lacked some of the more modern elements that I come to expect from a hotel these days. My fiance and I wanted to have a special night out to celebrate our engagement. While we appreciate the finer things in life we also appreciate a good deal, especially now that we're saving for a house and a wedding. The Mansfield was the perfect combination of old New York class with modern touches at a reasonable price (for Manhattan). The bed was […] very comfortable and the room was cozy. I was worried it would be too small but there was plenty of room to unpack and settle in. The Bar downstairs was excellent for a few drinks after our dinner out. We knew that it would be a night we would always remember and I'm glad the Mansfield lived up to the challenge. The Mansfield hotel is ideally located for a short break to see the sights of manhattan

This location is fabulous- an easy walk to Grand Central, Times Square, and Bryant Park. The rooms are small, but that is to be expected in New York City. They are comfortable and well arranged.

Hotel was located in a perfect location. Very close to times square and grand central. Perfect for going out and seeing the city. Rooms are small, but well kept and cozy. Just right for the location and price. Would stay again!

The room was nice but extremely small. The bathroom was seperated but what seemed to be a shutter style closet door. The rooms did not have control to the heat so I spent all night sweating, and when I layed on the bed not one but twice did a HOT lightbulb fall on me. Although this hotel was very close to Times Square I would not recommend staying.

Had one of the best nights sleep ever! Our room was so quiet which has never happenened while staying in a NYC hotel. The staff was very friendly and the price was just right. I cant wait to stay again!

This hotel has a great location, walking distance to Grand Central, Times Square Rockafella Center, Central Park. Hotel Staff very friendly, clean updated room. Great price for being in Manhattan.

Despite its great location, the Mansfield was a huge disappointment. One of two elevators was out of order, so we had several long waits to get up to or down from our 6th floor room, plus one time having to use the stairs. The hotel's wi-fi was slow and spotty, to say the least. The small sitting room off the lobby was closed "until further notice" […] for ceiling repairs, but the hotel didn't offer any other place for guests to sit, apart from a small and uncomfortable metal bench near the front door and cold drafts from the street. We often didn't have enough towels and had to wait till 5 or 6 p.m. for more. Then, to top it off, when we checked out there was a minibar charge on our bill, even though we hadn't used the minibar. They fixed it, but c'mon. We'd stayed at the Mansfield last May and liked it; unfortunately, it seems to have gone way downhill since then. Lees meer

Everything about the hotel was great, except the size of the room and bath. It was very clean and newly done, but very small. The restaurant, gym, and coffee bar were very nice. We really liked the location....fun bars and restaraunts to choose.
