Charterhouse Causeway Bay in Hongkong

In Hong Kong zijn er kleine kamers in hotels maar dit sloeg alles, er past amper een bed in! Daarnaast was er amper schoonmaak waardoor we allerlei afval onder het bed hadden van vorige toeristen!! Ook de badkamer was vies. Niet aan te raden dit hotel.

Nice hotel, good value, close to convention center.

Spent one night there, so can not comment on service and most other things. There are only three things that are important and need to be summarized to understand what this is: 1. It is in a good (not the best) location 2. It is very run down 3. It is cheap It has a smell. The furniture is beat up. The beds are worn. The rooms are tiny. The view from […] my side of the building sucked. The bathroom is in a desperate need of restoration. This is the only hotel in HK/China/Taiwan I ever stayed in in any price category that had no toothpaste and a brush in the bathroom. The breakfast ($19) was so mediocre, I already forgot it. Under any other circumstances I would not ever stay here again. But! The Star Ferry pier is 10 minutes walk away. Same with the Convention Center. Same with MTR. 5 minutes to a tram or a bus. Free internet (wired). And all of this for a very, very reasonable price (under USD100 in my case) when everything else around runs at least for twice as much. So if you are on a budget and need a decent location close to the infrastructure, or could care less where are you are asleep after a long day of tourism, this is a good value choice. BTW, the hotel does not provide the adapters from HK to the US or Euro chargers. There is a packed adapter in the room, but if you open the package a HK $90 (US $12) charge will appear on your bill. It is much wiser to dive into one of the small electronics stores and get one for HK $20 or less. Lees meer

As always, in line with expectations. A convenient and good place to stay when on business in HK. Perfect if you only really need somewhere to sleep. Taxis easy to get and only 10 mins from Central. the hotel is located just about 5 min walking distance from causeway bay Time Square building. and all around the hotel, there are plenty of restaurants (high, mid and lowends) and more than you can handle shopping places. the room we stayed (for two people) were very very small and has probably 20" TV that has not been updated since Madonna began her […] career, but we are not much TV people, so it did not matter. Free cable room internet was great and also the hotel has a small gym where you can work out (two treadmills and few universal machines). they are also needs of improvement, but they do serve their purposes. Hotel people are very friendly and quite helpful which is a big plus and location is best to none. For the price of hotel, i strongly recommend this hotel for business and vacationers. Lees meer

I have been staying there every year when I go to HK for a trace show. The quality seems to have lowered. The bed is not so comfy and the quality of the air in the room was bad. Smelled like fungus and it seemed they had not replaced the AC filter. Oh well, other hotels are too expensive...

good loation for times square and wang chai slightley dated but good for a 3 star hotel staff pleasant my only problem was wi fi not very good but everything else good for the money

The location is very convenient. The room is well maintained. Good services too. ^^

Not only the hotel itself but especially for the kindness of the man who works at morning time at the concierge. Very helpful and one of the reasons to come back...

If you 're allergic to smoke particles, you must request a non-smoking floor room. And don't settle for other floors. If not, you won't be able to sleep since this hotel has a long history and particles immersed in all wooden furniture and carpet in the worn-out room.

Good central location for business

Hotel is in the heart of Causeway Bay, 5 min from MTR. Near Time Square. Would stay here again. Decent rooms, good price, great location.

Everything is good except size of the rooms. They are very small but it's a common problem for most of hotels in HK.

Good hotel in central Hong Kong, close to shopping. Rooms are modern (at least in some floors) but quite small.

A good choice for a budget stay in the city. Very clean. Beautiful woodwork that is rarely seen in hotels today, let alone in this class. Room was tiny though--with suitcase opened barely any room to move. Had to wait a long time for the shower water to get warm. But overall I thought it was decent value for money and I would stay there again.

Great location for the price we paid on hotels.com, convenient to shopping, restaurants and MTR.

Definitely a high price tag but it does have all the bells and whistles. Top notch staff are super friendly and helpful. Has business center, 3 restaurants (room service is cheaper, though) and close to bus/MTR/tram.

The standard rooms are small but ok for one person. Choice of european meals in breakfast / lunch menu was quite limited. Wi-fi signal strength in non-central rooms was quite weak. Service, location are excellent.

It's an inexpensive hotel in a relatively convenient location for Hong Kong visitors. My wife, I and two little kids stayed in a two-single-bed room. The room isn't big, but I think it's clean and neat, and it's adequet for our two-night staying. I would recommend it to budget tourists. The hotel was clean and the people friendly & helpful. The two problems I had were the rooms were too small (didn't even have a dresser) and the distance to the MTR was not as close as advertised. The station was 5 minutes away, but you needed to walk another 15 minutes to reach the trains.

This is not the most modern hotel but it is pretty nice for the money. Everything was clean. The rooms typically small as most Hong Kong hotels rooms seem to be. My only comlaint is that there were no bath towels in my room and it took 30 minutes after I called the front to desk to get them, when I need to get going to the airport. This was a 5 min walk from the underground, but close to bus transport. Bus to Central from outside the hotel. Transport to Airport is at a charge but cheaper and more convenient than the train. Overall pleasant stay. Good wifi in the room.

Service was excellent.Security is excellent. I arrived early i was upgraded to business floor, a room was cleaned and available before 10.0 am. Restaurant have large selection of good quality food at very reasonable prices. Rooms are small, but clean and good quality furnishings. I left a purse in my room with some money in it. I have stayed at this hotel now on at least 6 occasions and each time i have seen this hotel slide more and more. Apart from their signature rooms they have not spent any money at all aupdating any of their rooms. My most recent stay was in one of their business rooms and apart from free internet there wasn't any difference from the other rooms. The […] hotel is in a great location. in causeway bay you can go anywhere. That is what you're paying for. C'mon Charterhouse please update your rooms. It's hard to find an affordable room at a convenient location in Hong Kong, but this is it. Room was small but clean and comfortable, with free wifi, which is nothing to take for granted in Hong Kong because others charge for it. Easy walk to a tram line that takes you straight into Central Hong Kong in minutes.

Service was bad, porter was rude - could be due to peak season Location is Ok - if you know how to catch a bus, MTR is about 10 - 15 minutes walk Room Condition/Housekeeping - tooth brush, tooth paste and comb are NOT provided, room is small as usual but with view. Reasoble rates,Tiny room,staff very helpful,centrally located,you could do a lot worse

Upon arrival, the front desk staff told us that the room we paid for is not available. They put us in a King room instead of a double beds. Then following day, they offered to change our room, 3 different staff gave us 3 different time frame. And when we return nothing was in order to make the change. When we got to our new room, the TV isn't clear, […] can't change volume and it flickered on it's own several times, so sever that we didn't want to risk it burning out. The in-room fridge is not cold, and the bathroom drains all night and it's very noisy. The staff are friendly, and they do have free internet via ethernet. Their website does a very good job for foreigners, but the place is old and isn't made to handle so many guests in an old place. Lees meer

My wife and I found the hotel in a perfect location near tramway line, market, time square (mall). The room was well equiped though a bit small. The interior is very classic and reflects the splendor of once. It is maintained well, though there are some minor signs of wear and tear. The location was great , but the room was horrible. As stated in the other reviews, the beds and shower are extremely small and i'm only 5'5. Upon arriving in my room I found aprox 6 to 7 strands of hair in my shower. I called to have someone come and clean it, went out for 3 hours only to return to the shower still with the hair. I look in the beds […] and found hair in the sheets. The room had an awful order and looked like it had not been cleaned or updated in years. What was advertised on the site is far from what I got. The service used to take us to the airport played a game on his cell phone while driving the enitre time. At one point he stop at a location (not a another hotel) and had us waiting on the bus for 30 minutes. He returned alone and gave us no explaination for the wait. I would never stay there again. a very very tiny room with about 10m2. can't even fit in a double bed.

Location: Excellent location; vibrant Wanchai and Causeway Bay is at its doorstep; close to the MTR; surrounded by local food stores. Service: prompt; polite and very accommodating. Was invited to stay a few hours after check out to use the business center and the internet. Hotel staff took care of my bags in the meantime. I went for a long weekend and have to say that I rather shocked when I saw the condition of the room. The room is small, whereas this would not be so much of a reason to complain, furnished with very old, partly broken furniture and on top of that not clean. For the price I would have expected more and I would not recommend it at all.

Wonderful service. As i arrived to the hotel, my luggage was immediately handled and ready to move to our room. The people at the check-in counter was kind and helpful. The room was a bit small and the television was a bit confusing to operate, but was not a concern. Affordable and will come back to this hotel.
