Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne in Melbourne

This hotel was lovely. Not much to look at from the outside but once through the door the decor was lovely. Reception staff were nice & concierge was helpful with information & also organising skybus pick up. We had queen Felix room which was lovely but room was small & not really ideal for family. Our 4 yr old had to share our bed & they just managed […] to fit a portacot in but it was a squeeze with luggage etc... The hotel is in a great location opposite Flinders street station, close to federation square, free tourist tram stops just outside. Overall good stay but would definitely have to pay for larger room next time if travelling with family :) Lees meer

As loyal customers who have stayed with you on two other occasions and who booked well ahead of our visit, we were very disappointed that on arrival, our room request had not been met. The room was very tiny and set up as a queen room rather than a twin bed room. Our request for a quiet room was ignored. Instead we were located next to a very noisy […] engine of some kind - possibly an airconditioning unit - that kept us awake all night. The next day we were moved to another room that was a bit larger, but was next to the lift and closer to the engine. So, not only did we have the the engine noise to contend with, but also loud voices of people exiting the lift. Rather than be judged as difficult we put up with this, but it somewhat spoiled our holiday. The final disappointment was the staff's failure to provide an early wake-up call requested the previous evening. The excuse of the computers being down is not acceptable. As travellers could easily miss an important flight, there needs to be some kind of manual backup system. Staff admitted that they had a list of requested wake-up calls and that we were on that list, so why wasn't a personal call provided to our room? Repeat business is the most powerful kind of PR that accommodation services can attract. We will no longer spread the word that your hotel is our favourite place to stay in Melbourne. Lees meer

I had the best experiance at the hotel .it was close to everything that you need for a great holiday. The staff are extremely helpful and freindly i would highly recemend this hotel and i know when ever i visit Melbourne this is where i will be staying.

We visited Melbourne to attend the Comedy Fesitival. Due to the fabulous location of the Rendevous we managed to also see the Roman Exhibition, meet a friend for lunch and see 2 films at the Nova plus 2 Comedy Festival events and finished off at the Vic Market on our way home Sunday morning.

Good location but the Flinders street is always full of traffics. No other comments

In the heart of Melbourne

The entrance, reception and ground floor is very impressive. Magnificent decor. The room was very disappointing, small, stained carpet, hole in carpet. Very small bathroom,shower over bath with no hand hold. No shelf space. You can sit on the toilet and wave to someone in another room. The hotel was acceptable but not great and the pictures on the website really do not convey what it looks like in reality. The room was clean but tiny. Altogether not as "grand" as advertized.

We were pleased to be able to have a room where three adults could have a single bed each. The location is very good, next to the trams, trains, tennis, shops. Price OK.

I stayed in the Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne during the Australian Open and while the location is very conveniently located directly across from the tram and easy walking distance to Melbourne Park and many other attractions, the hotel itself is desperately in need of serious upgrades and cleaning. There were spiders in my room at check-in, the walls […] are covered in black scuff marks, the beds are terrible with zippers joining two beds to make a Queen size bed and the television is terrible...it is impossible to see anything. The television in my room was a old 15 inch CRT tv. As a result of the poor tv in the room, I tried to watch the tennis match (semi-finals) in the hotel bar. There were many people in the bar also watching the tennis. The Restaurant and Bar Manager decided to close the bar in the middle of the match telling us that we were not drinking enough to keep it open. Despite complaints to the Restaurant and Bar manger and the front desk manager, the bar room remained closed. The front desk manager said that the bar was closed 30 minutes earlier then normal - the tennis match finished 1 hr after they closed the bar room. The front desk manager did offer a free breakfast buffet as compensation. I strongly belief this hotel is in desperate need of major renovations and upgrades and am not at all impressed with the poor attitude of the hotel's management or the cleanliness of the rooms (particular when it attracts spiders). We stayed here for the Australian Open and it's a great location. Very close to the first stop for the free tram to the tennis. Overall I was very pleased. Only complaint is that the shower had a glass wall with no door so water tended to go on the floor in front of the toilet but it dried up in about 2-3 hours.

Close to transportation ang good central site for seeing the city

After quality accommodation in SA, this hotel was appalling. 4 1/2 stars??? I've stayed in better 3 star accommodation. My gripes are: * Bed was hard as cement - couldn't sleep * Cockroaches * Don't what "Do Not Disturb" means * Bump knees on bath when using the toilet * Sad furnishings * Noisy * Leaky toilet * Shower in bath * Very small fridge * No […] tourist info or maps * Watch out for extra charges * Access into the building & within the building is poor. Public transport right at the front door, the rooms are average size but well catered for and the staff are first class always ready to help with any query. I stayed at Hotel Rendezuous mainly because it is near the Melbourne Convention Centre where I was attending a conference. It is definitely a good and value-for-money alternative (only 10-15 min walk) to those expensive hotels near the convention centre. The location is excellent and there are plentiful restaurants, fastfood outlets, convenient stores, […] ATMs, etc. In-room internet access is limited to 3 hour per day (but you have to ask for the login code everyday). That said, this hotel has several shortcomings (especially the yet-to-renovate old wing). The room is small, not-so-thorough house keeping, poor lighting and lousy soundproofing. Lees meer

old heritage hotel.opposite flinders street railway station.very convenient to all melbournes attractions in the cdb area including MCG,CROWN CASINO.YARRA RIVER AND FEDERATION SQUARE.excellent food houses everywhere.hotels rooms were only average and required updating.very old tv in room.

The hotel is right in the middle of the CBD and lots of food places. Opposite the main railway station and on 2 tram lines. All very convenient. A large supermarket within 1 minutes walk. Close to Etihad stadium, too. Will stay there again.,

Impressed with the level of service and friendliness of the staff. Good location and rooms were ok for the basic package. Didn't get one of my wake up calls which was annoying though as I was was on a business trip this was important to me.

We were in the middle of the city and close to public transportation I would recommend the hotel for anyone who was in Melbourne as a tourist who really was not concerned about big hotel amenirties. Enjoyed our stay and was pleasantly surprised how good facilities, room comfort and accessability. Have recommended that this hotel is value for money and would definately book a room when next in Melbourne. We had a stink in our room we ask the clerk at the front desk if he could smell it while he was opening our door for the second time as the card didn't work. The clerk gave me a glare and said sorry I have a cold I can't smell anything at this time and said if you would like another room I will just go and see if I can organize it. My wife and I had […] got up at 4am that morning drove an hour to the Sydney city only to find out the Harbour bridge was closed due to some divorced man complaining about his children. Lucky we left an hour early ! 8;40am we arrive just in time to catch our plane. Our plane leaves on time at 9;15 we arrive Melbourne ( excited ) Catch a taxi to this hotel we drop our bags go for a look around grab lunch have a coffee go back to the room boom a unique smell we thought one of the floor staff had used our toilet. We tried to have a afternoon nap but just couldn't handle the smell 2pm by now and buggered. So we went for another walk came back around 7pm door don't open. I go talk to the clerk , clerk comes to room opens door I ask if he could smell this bad stench I then get his reply I have a cold lol. We are so tired by this time! They tell us there are no rooms left and they will send someone up to try fix the smell. They did send a maintenance guy who just went straight to the bathroom with out asking where the smell was and try to fix the smell. Which he did ! well I thought anyway. We fall a sleep after a hugh day starting at 4am. I wake up at around 3am to go the loo and bang the smell hit me in the face I dry reached and could not go to the toilet. I went back to bed to try and sleep with the blanket over my head. We woke up at 9am still a little tired packed our bags went down to the front desk complained about the smell and said we can't stay in that room we will leave so they changed us into a smaller room funny how they had no rooms left. The hotel was very well situated, everything was clean, and full of history. But sadly it has potential that has not been explored by current management. The hotel was in an excellent location and close to everything from transport, the casino, highly renowned Degraves st and the Melbourne aquarium. Disappointing when we got there that our key cards didn't work so we had to go downstairs and change them, our kettle did not work either so we had to ask for another one, the TV is old and a bit fuzzy. But […] then again you don't go away to watch TV! Most of the hotel staff were not as helpful as they could have been - we asked directions to a renowned restaurant and three people behind the desk could not work it out and resorted to Google maps. So we caught a cab there! In saying this the last day we were there we got a very helpful guy at Concierge and was able to give us directions on the top of his head. Would I stay there again? Yes I would due to the close proximity but the service is not overly fabulous. Lees meer

we booked a room for 3 people but it wasn't set up when we arrived. They put a fold out bed in the room when we were out and it made the room very cramped. The bed was extremely uncomfortable to sleep on, this was dissapointing as we had paid top dollar for the room

Perfect for those wanting to stay right in the heart of Melbourne & close to all major CBD attractions. Great King size bed -ideal for the business or personal traveler

Nice cute hotel, great bed, adequate space but there was a small problem, the shower drain smelled sewerage. Overall nice and neat.

Loved it, Loved it. Enjoyed every minute of our stay. Very comfortable and convienient to everything. Would certainly stay at the Rendevous Hotel again.

The Rendezvous Hotel is an older building and the rooms are not huge, but are sufficient. I would have liked to have a flat panel television along with a better (larger) selection of channels. High Speed Internet was also not the best. Limited to 3 hrs per day of "free" service and it was not very reliable in terms of speed and quality. The hotel […] is well situated for being close to downtown and Southbank. A lot of great restaurants nearby (The Meat & Wine Co. over on Southbank was excellent) and the tram service is also easily accessible. There are a myriad of parks and gardens within easy walking distance. The Royal Botanic Garden is a 15 to 20 minute walk from the hotel. Free entry and easily a place where you can spend 2 - 3 hours enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Lees meer

I recently stayed the Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne and was highly impressed. The hotel is located right in the heart of Melbourne. It is within walking distance to all of the major sites, if you choose not to walk it is directly across the street from the main train hub. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. Frienfly staff. Room was spacious if a little worn (walls had filler showing at roof join) and the bathroom was cramped. Overall very good, well priced and very convenient location

The lighting in the room was on a timer. The full lights went on when you entered the room and dimmed after a few minutes. In order to keep the lights bright you had to open the door and wald thru it. This was a ludicrous situation. The Hotel was convenient, the gym was great. The room was big but not alot in it. I thought the bathroom needed a bit of an update. We stayed a week and it would have been nice to have draws to put clothes in.
