"Time of year and direction of the wind!"
This hotel is easy to find, easy to check into, has a lovely staff. The room is efficiently designed (I love the shower arrangement!), and well stocked. The noise level on the west side is a higher than the east side since the highway is 100 feet west of the windows, but there it was not unbearable and the fan in the HVAC unit helped neutralize. HOWEVER, […] the room was noticeably dusty -- the lamps, the surfaces, and even the floor along the walls were coated in fine white dust. The room was infested with little black gnats that, while they did not bite, were annoying as they flew around the light sources (like my computer and phone screen). MOST DISGUSTING was the smell of the sewage treatment plant which is immediately to the south of the hotel. It absolutely stunk. Finally, there was the electrical situation: The refrigerator and microwave were plugged into a power strip which was in turn plugged into an extension cord which was wrapped behind the wardrobe to an outlet over the desk. The power strip and appliance cords were bound together in zip strips to hold the cords into the strip and the strip to the wall. There was only one other outlet in the room on the opposite side wall into which was plugged on lamp and an alarm clock. There were two other lamps in the room that could not be plugged in. All of the above was brought to the attention of the staff, who humbly apologized but did not offer to move me to a different room or make any financial compensation. Lees meer

"The Sleep Inn at Jasper was great!"
The staff was very helpful....when we checked in there was no bathtub in our room, Dakotah was so nice and switched our room so that I could have a nice bath. Everyone was very nice and the room was great.
"PLEASANTLY SURPRISED"
I was glad I read the reviews on this hotel so I knew what to expect. Most of them were dead on. The waste treatment plant didn't pose a problem as only once you could faintly smell something in the air. For the money and the area it was nice. Would stay there again definitely.

"Going to Holiday World"
After reviewing other hotels on Hotels.com and comparing the prices (we needed 2 rooms), I booked the Sleep Inn. Then I read the reviews and was worried what people had said about the waste treatment plant. However, even though we were there in a major heat wave, the air had a particular smell- but nothing gagging or THAT noticable. The hotel staff […] was friendly and I appreciated the breakfast to get us on our way. We did have an issue with one of the card keys, but the worker was very apologetic and quickly solved the problem for us. Great for the price and we will use again. Lees meer

This hotel was very clean, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, our room was a bit smaller than what I had imagined but it was very clean and modern feeling. I would definitely stay here again.

Our non-smoking floor smelled like an ashtray. The toilet would only flush if we took the lid off the tank and hit the flusher manually. (The front desk person kindly instructed us about this after we complained.) We spent the entire stay with the tank lid off the toilet. The bathroom door also locked whenever closed. "Not What I Expected"
The hotel was not what I expected. Reception was nice, but they were certainly not overly friendly. The hotel is right beside a waste water treatment plant and on the other side of town from many of the retail and restaurant venues. The office chair was horribly uncomfortable, so it made desk work difficult. There is no tub. I walked in the bathroom […] and it was a bit like being on a train. The actual room was about the size of 1/2 the size I expected. I won't stay there again because the price did not equal the value of the room. Nevertheless, it was very clean, well-kept, and orderly; however, there is a huge push there to not have your bed linen changed, which was kind of off putting. As someone who stays in hotels on a regular basis, it was my least favorite accommodation in the past 3 years. It is also to note that the closest main attraction -- the great Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana, is on a different time than Jasper. Jasper is an hour ahead of Santa Claus. Lees meer

"Not the best, not the worst. It does the job."
Pretty good hotel. Beds were not overly comfortable. Room was clean though a bit raggity. Room was small. The room fridge and microwave were good to have. Breakfast was fairly good, with lots of carbs, waffle, pastries, cereal, fruit and yogurt. There were very few customers and they put a bunch of yelling screaming, banging kids next to us which did […] interrupt sleep the first night. There was compensation for next visit at our complaint. Second night was quiet and slept much better (maybe due to exhaustion) Would stay again. Good price..not fancy, but there are good points to this Sleep Inn in Jasper. "Too far away"
This hotel states that it's about 20 miles from Holiday World, but it felt like 50 miles!! It was too far away and it was also next to a Water/Sewer Treatment facility. And when I say next to, I mean in front of. It had rained and the essence of pooh was wafting through the air and seemed to come through the vents in the hotel. Oh and we had some extremely […] noisy people in that hotel! All in all, it was not a great experience for me and my family. We ended up leaving in the middle of the night, due to the smell and noise. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. Lees meer

"Not bad"
The hotel prices for the entire area are pretty high, but that considered, it wasn't too bad. At least there were waffles.

Hotel was fine, employees were very helpful and responsive. Only downside was the location of the water treatment facility close by. Wasn't terrible but when the wind was right you could smell a bit of something in the air. "Better than expected but be aware if you have small kids...."
This hotel was used by me and my daughter when we went to Holiday World. It's about 1/2 hr away from HW. All the reviews are very accurate with saying how new and remodeled it was. Everything was very clean and the staff very friendly. The bed was very comfortable, which is a lot for me to say, and lots of soft pillows. There are only 2 things I would […] advise: 1. the rooms only have either 1 queen bed or 2 full beds in each room - they are small rooms. 2. there are no bathtubs - only shower stalls - which are VERY nice and roomy. This just posed a problem having a toddler who hates showers. So, overall, I was very satisfied, felt safe and got my money's worth. It just really isn't the place if you have little kids and you're staying more than a night. Oh, one more nice thing - Shoney's is right next door (attached parking lots) and offers 10% off your ticket when you show them your room key. Papa John's Pizza is also 25% off when you have it delivered to your room. Lees meer

"Excellent Room for the Money!"
I was not expecting such a nice room considering it was moderately priced and only had a 2 star rating. Even thought the hotel is 18 years old it had recently been remodeled and was like new. It had comfortable beds, awesome shower, great cable TV, and nice pool and an good continental breakfast and a very helpful staff. It was in a nice area of town […] so I didn't have to be concerned about anyone tampering with our motorcycles. I've paid a lot more for a room that wasn't nearly as nice as this one. Lees meer
