We hadden een kamer met uitzicht op de tropische tuin, prachtig. Kamer van alle gemakken voorzien. Wel veel problemen gehad bij het inchecken: men vroeg om onze creditcard als borg voor eventuele uitgaven die wij tijdens ons verblijf zouden maken. Onze card werkte echter niet en dat werd als een (abnormaal) groot probleem gezien; ondanks dat wij aanboden om tot 500 dollar cash te 'betalen'; men wilde ons zelfs in 1e instantie als gast weigeren, terwijl het hotel natuurlijk al via hotels.com betaald was. Zeer onaangenaam en men ging pas meewerken nadat we erg hebben opgespeeld; uiteindelijk 100 dollar borg betaald. Geen leuk begin van een verder overigens prima verblijf daar.

Prima locatie om van daaruit San Diego te ontdekken. Naar o.a. de Zoo, het Balbaopark en ophaaladres van huurauto gebracht en opgehaald met shuttledienst van het hotel, ideaal. Schone kamer, van alle gemakken voorzien. Redelijk ontbijt met plastic bordjes en bestek.

Heerlijk hotel, niet ver van Sea World, San Diego Zoo, uss Midway, Gaslamp, Old Town en het strand. Allemaal binnen acceptabele tijd per auto te bereiken. Super mooi hotel met ruime kamers. Het is wel een gehorig hotel, wat vooral in het weekend lawaai met zich mee bracht van buren. Door de weeks was de marine aan de overkant van het water met trainingen bezig. Dit vonden wij niet heel storend, maar het geluid is er wel. Verder zit ontbijt er niet bij in en is heel duur als je dat nog bij wilt nemen. Dat is echt een minpunt. Als je dit hotel boekt, hou er rekening mee dat het twee locaties zijn. Wij zaten in de tower en het 'grotere gebeuren' was verder op. We hadden wel een lobby, servicebalie, restaurant en verwarmd zwembad, dus dat is prima voor elkaar. De starbucks en de grote lobby van de foto's zit in het andere gedeelte. De kamers zijn echt super ruim! We hadden een ruim zitgedeelte en eettafel erbij, en dat voor een gewone kamer. Uitzicht op zee was erg mooi.
Ligging.
Hilton San Diego Del Mar bevindt zich in Del Mar, dicht bij Racebaan Del Mar en Staatsstrand Torrey Pines. Andere bezienswaardigheden in de omgeving zijn Legoland Californië en Universiteit van Californië-San Diego.
Hotelvoorzieningen.
Hilton San Diego Del Mar heeft een buitenzwembad, een spabad en een fitnesscentrum. In alle openbare ruimtes kan je tegen betaling de draadloze internetverbinding gebruiken. Dit hotel met 3,5 sterren beschikt over zakelijke voorzieningen waaronder een businesscentrum, vergaderruimtes en audiovisuele apparatuur. Dit hotel voor zaken heeft een restaurant, een koffiebar/café en een bar/lounge. Het personeel kan op verzoek een conciërgeservice, een huwelijksservice en zakelijke diensten regelen. Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een cadeaushop of kiosk, een 24-uurse roomservice en een stomerij-/wasserijservice. Parkeerruimte is tegen betaling beschikbaar, maar beperkt. Dit is een rookvrije accommodatie.

Hilton San Diego Del Mar heeft 257 kamers met airconditioning die zijn voorzien van een kluis en een gratis krant. Elke kamer is voorzien van een snelle internetverbinding. Elke 32-inch lcd-televisie heeft kanalen via de kabel, een videogameconsole en betaalfilms. Elke kamer beschikt over een telefoon met voicemail. Elke badkamer is voorzien van een föhn en gratis toiletartikelen.
Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een koffiezetapparaat/waterkoker en een strijkplank/strijkijzer. Bovendien wordt dagelijks een huishoudservice aangeboden. Op verzoek zijn voorzieningen als een telefonische wekdienst beschikbaar. Op de kamers van Hilton San Diego Del Mar mag niet worden gerookt.
Afhankelijk van het hotelbeleid kan voor extra personen een toeslag worden aangerekend.
Bij het inchecken dien je in het geval van incidentele kosten een erkend identiteitsbewijs en een borgsom in contanten of creditcard voor te leggen.

Het oude Hollywood ging voor de nodige afzondering naar Del Mar. Tegenwoordig zijn jockeys hier de belangrijkste attractie. Iedere zomer komt de Del Mar Racetrack met paardenrennen tot leven. Het renseizoen begint met het einde van de San Diego County Fair in juli. Del Mar maakt deel uit van North Country, de buitenwijk die als de buitenrand van het grootstedelijke San Diego wordt beschouwd.

Uitstekend hotel aan de rand van Del Mar. Heerlijk buitenzwembad aanwezig en genoeg ruimte om betaald te parkeren. Tip: Parkeer je auto ergens anders en bel de gratis shuttle service van het hotel om je op te halen en weg te brengen.

We have stayed at this hotel before and we really like everything about it. They are very friendly and they will shuttle you to most of the restaurants in the area as well as the Del Mar Fairgrounds! If you feel like walking for breakfast, there is a Denny's right next door to this hotel. This is a great hotel!

"Del Mar Hilton-Not very happy"
Have stayed here before and enjoyed it, things change. Hotel was under going a remodel and the pool was closed. This was not mentioned on the website. We travel often with our dog, I was very surprised by the amount charged for a pet friendly hotel (very expensive compared to others). Parking fees-very expensive and was not disclosed to us until check […] in. Being close to the fair grounds I am sure that parking of non-paying clients can be of concern. Clients staying the night should not have to pay for parking (at least not the amount charged). People not staying in the hotel should pay for parking. Beds-Those are the smallest Queen size beds I have ever seen-seemed more like double beds. Cold water faucet at the restroom sink was loose-whole handle and pipe moved when you turned it on. "Hotel del mar"
Everuthing was nice except for finding a random used comb under my pillows.... Strange! Tim was very nice. Was not happy with the vending machine holding $10 on my card for buying a water.
I was only disappointed in the fact that as a guest of the hotel I had to pay for parking.
"Hilton in Del Mar, CA needs renovation"
I would not recommend this hotel until they undergo a renovation. The room had torn curtains, evidence of mold in the shower tile, a badly worn king sized mattress/box spring and poor maintenance. Upon arriving at the room, we also found that the bathtub would not drain properly and the light bulb over the tub was burned out -- two issues that I believe […] should have been reported by room service and fixed prior to releasing the room for guests. Hilton has been busy diluting their brand and this is no exception. Facilities were clean and well appointed with friendly staff the hotel is located next to I-5 which is very noisy all night long. Turning on the air conditioner made loud noises like an old Motel 6. I will be careful next time to check location before booking.

surprised to see the Del Mar hilton literally right off of the 5. Was hoping to have access to Del Mar village and the beach - not the case though not far from a driving standpoint. Probably a good place if you want to go to the track but otw, not the best.

Tired property. Worn carpets. Excessive surcharge per night for parking. Nasty looking swimming pool. A total disappointment. Worst hotel stay of the past 112 months. Avoid like the plague.

I have stayed here several times and every time I come back I notice an improvment, this trip I noticed the landscaping at the front of the hotel..the drive up area has been totally redone and looks awesome.Great helpful,attentive staff...what more could you ask for. The hotel was nice and location was very convenient to everything around it. The hotel provides a shuttle service to anywhere in a 5 mile radius which is extremely helpful. Negatives of the hotel were that the shower was not properly cleaned when we arrived and that both the shower and sink did not drain properly. The breakfast buffet was good. Overall, […] a good stay. Everything about the hotel was terrific with the exception of the free shuttle service. We were taken over in time for the first race but waited until all the staff was leaving the track and still no shuttle so we took a cab back. The hotel was very clean and quiet. Could not hear the nearby freeway due to the unique double window, keeping all noise out. Housekeepers were friendly and helpful. Very nice property and convenient location to Del Mar Racetrack. Very good selection of dinner items in the bar. Hotel will be undergoing an extensive renovation later this year. Sounds like it will be even better.

This is a beautiful hotel, in a great convenient location to get into San Diego. The rooms are beautiful and clean and the front desk was friendly and helpful. Our one complaint would be the bar. First of all, service was abysmal. Had to wait 15 minutes to be acknowledged. Asked 3 times from 3 different people for water. And most annoying of all, there […] was a soccer team staying in the hotel so the bar was crawling with 10 year olds raising cain. NO parents in sight, they were all outside drinking on the patio. There is NO reason a hotel of this caliber should allow unsupervised minors to run wild around a bar. Completely ruined any chance of relaxation. I just spent a couple of nights at the Hilton Del Mar and have to say I was very happy with my stay. I stayed in a Deluxe King that was very spacious, comfortable and clean. You walk the halls and everywhere you look you see yesterday's food in the hallway as room service never picked it up. Switches and handles were dirty and had to wipe them ourselves. 2 valet/ bellmen and we had to handlemour own bags. Lazy workers. Front desk no difference. "A fine hotel, just not when the State Fair is on"
This was fine hotel, but more suited toward conferences than the individual traveler. The staff was helpful, but rooms, pool, food and other amenities were mediocre. Our major complaint is that it is right across the street from where the South CA State fair is held from Jun 10 - Jul 4. As a result, the traffic around the hotel was horrible! The hotel was right off the freeway which made it easy to find. The only thing that would have been nice to know before booking, that the fair was going on. When I walked in the hotel the design was nice and you can tell it has been around for a while. I hope they update it soon. I did receive a complimentary upgrade to view the pool, which was nice! This was a very nice hotel, pleasant location, great breakfast. However, we weren't aware of a local fair happening across the street. The traffic for the fair made getting in and out of the hotel on our own atrocious. A three story hotel with motel-like parking. Self-parking was very expensive. My room was very large, clean and comfortable. The room did not have a refrigerator or microwave. "careful of parking charges"
They charge 17.00 per day for parking....understandable to control their parking lot as there is the race track is nearby, but it seemed like a rip-off and feel there should be advance warning. The breakfast buffet was very good and included in the price.

I recently attended a conference that was held at the Hilton in Del Mar, California. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The pool and jacuzzi were sparkling! There was a great shuttle service to all of the restaurants in the area. My only problem was the flow of the hotel. I did not feel the elements came together […] to guide me to the hotel's other amenities. I still can't remember the name of the restaurant or where it was located on the first floor. Very nice and quiet during Memorial Day weekend. About a mile to the center of Del Mar, but the hotel has a shuttle service that will take you there and bring you back. If you are going to the races or the fair this is the place to be!

The hotel was very clean and the service was great. My only complaint is the cost of parking and the lack of complimentary internet. In this day and age it seems ridiculous and just plain greedy to charge for access to the wireless internet. It was also about $17/day to self park the car. This hotel is not in a downtown location where parking is at […] a premium. They have a good sized lot and charging that much to park is absurd. Since it is not a downtown location, a car is a must to see sights in San Diego. When you pay for a hotel of this quality it would be nice to have more complimentary services. Lees meer
