Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow

Het hotel was precies zoals we hadden gehoopt. Alle leuke dingen zijn op 2 min. loopafstand. Er is een ingang van het centraal station naar het hotel. De stad zelf is ook erg leuk! De winkels zijn erg mooi. Veel leuke eettentjes. Leuke pubs en clubs. Alles is perfect. Het hotel zelf is erg mooi, de kamer is super mooi, het bed is ligt super lekker. […] De badkamer is mega groot. Het enige min puntje wat ik zou kunnen bedenken is dat de mensen die snachts thuis komen soms wat luidruchtig zijn. De bus vanaf het vliegveld stopt voor de deur. De metro naar de voetbalclubs is om de hoek. Ik raad iedereen heel erg aan om hier naar toe te gaan! Wij zullen hier zeker weten terug komen. Lees meer

I stayed at Grand Central Hotel 1 night and had a great experience. From the minute I walked into the building I felt welcomed. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were modern and full of great amenities. I will most definitely be staying at the Grand Central Hotel on my next visit to Glasgow.

The hotel was quite luxurious would have liked another night there. Downside the final bill was a bit confusing. Highly recommended

I stayed at this hotel on 14th April from my fiance's birthday. Staff were friendly, hotel in good location and our room was very nice!! Enjoyed a few cocktails at the end of our evening at The champagne bar, which overlooks Central Station so brilliant for people watching! Overall a nice stay and would recommend to friends!

Have now stayed in this hotel 3 times and will do again as it is so centrally located. The quality of the hotel is very impressive and value for money second to none for a hotel of its class. We stayed in a standard room - which was anything but! Very spacious and well decorated, lovely high ceilings and a decent sized bathroom. It was Easter weekend, so very busy but all the staff, while obviously working very hard, were very friendly and helpfull. We didn't have breakfast but will next time to enjoy the hotel a bit more. We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It has an excellent location and it is obvious that a lot of money has been invested around the entire hotel. We had a very comfortable room and a very spacious en suite bathroom inclusive of bath and a power shower. Great location!

Great first impression of the hotel, when we arrived 3 hours before check in, the concierge were ever so happy to hold our suitcases while we went for some lunch and shopping. The service was excellent, hotel staff were very approachable, all happy to help. The room was beautiful, clean, tidy and finished to a high standard. One little perk that […] was greatly appreciated was the mirror in the bathroom - when showering mirrors naturally steam up. However, there was an area of the mirror in front of the sink that remained steam free at all times... very nice touch, very useful! Would thoroughly recommend this hotel. I was worried we would hear the trains constantly, but we did not hear them once. Only noise was from roadworks at night but this was due to having left our window open to cool the room down slightly (it got a little warm at night and the radiator would not turn off completely). Location of the hotel is excellent. Close to shops, pubs clubs and train station... Wouldn't look at any other hotel on my return to Glasgow. Very happy customer! :) Lees meer

This hotel adjoins Glasgow Central railway station, and is therefore very convenient for people arriving by trains from the South. There is direct access from the station, but the bedrooms are not affected by any noise therefrom. The Restaurant is very good, and the Chamagne Bar outstanding.

Got off train at 8.30pm. In my room by 8.45. Relaxing, spacious rooms in a central location. Friendly staff and good quality breakfast. Will stay again.

Old hotel but competely refurbished a year ago - and what a terrific job they've made of it too. I'm particularly fussy when it comes to hotels (I've marked them down one for service because the waitress forgot to bring me more coffee at breakfast - mean I know!) and expect the best - I will stay here again, and so should you.... Large room, comfortable bed, excellent service and great location.

Grand Glasgow Central is perfectly located for EVERYTHING. Great shops such as Frasers, Hamleys, Marks all within walking distance. Too many restaurants make it difficult to choose. The beautiful Princess Square a 5 minute walk away. The hotel is big and elegant with a lovely affordable champagne bar. Of course trains on your doorstep to all over the […] UK. Absolutely loved staying here - and the little details helped make all the difference, such as a curved shower rail so the shower curtain wouldn't stick to you, and the bathroom mirror not steaming up! And the bed was so comfortable!

Great location easily accessible to station and central for city. Glasgow was a great break ideal for the Rugby only 45 minute journey to Edinburgh and excellent value for money.

Great hotel, very friendly, well located. Only criticism was the lack of a mini-bar in the room. Woudl definitely stay there again.

My husband booked the Grand Central Hotel for my birthday and we had a lovely time. We were in the basic room however there was plenty of room and the decor was very nice. The service at check in and check out was very good and any of the staff we dealt with in between those times were helpful. The decor and rooms are amazing, just like the pictures. Very comfy beds! Only downside is one half of the hotel looks over central station so you need to be a heavy sleeper! Also my boyfriend left his passport in the hotel room and when we called to see if it had been found after we checked out in the evening we were told that the housekeeping deal […] with lost property and will not be back until tomorrow morning! Luckily we could get a flight back to London with other I.D but thought the staff were unhelpful on this occasion. Surely if you find a passport in a room you call the guests?! The hotel itself was very nice, clean, comfortable and well presented. However, our room was above a taxi rank in the city centre and only had old single glazed windows. The noise from the drunk people and taxis was unbelievably loud meaning it was literally impossible to sleep until after 4am. Glad we only stayed one night, no fresh milk for tea, "milk stix" provided were off, extractor in bathroom didn't work so smoke alarm was activated by having a shower. Party kept us awake til 1am - we were offered another room after enquiring when we would have peace so why were we put in a room above a party in the first place? Very nice hotel, friendly staff and good modern rooms. Very clean and would definatley recommend to others. Only downside is parking but this is a city hotel and they do give you discounted rates.

We stayed here for three nights and although the building and rooms were lovely and well maintained the reception we had on arrival was frosty! Reaching the reception desk by phone in advance was impossible - no one would pick up for two days straight - and when we arrived they had no note of our booked early arrival. The receptionist was annoyed and […] short with our enquiries, which ruined the initial old-world charm of the entrance a bit! The best thing about this hotel is its location. The bus from the airport almost stops at the door and the train station couldn't be any closer. The hotel staff were very helpful especially the concierge. I only had one concern. I booked online and had requested a room with two beds. We were given a room with one very large king size bed. It seems that […] online bookings are not given the same priority as bookings done by phone or in person. So if you need something to be a certain way, I would definitely recommend you book by phone to confirm your needs before finalizing your booking. Lees meer

Wonderful hotel and brilliant location, rooms were so clean, we had a great stay and would definately return and recommend it. the only negative is that i had two breakfasts sent to the room and it cost £50 which is rediculous and it wasnt even that nice!!

The hotel is in a perfect location for everything you desire but the communication from the staff was not good I was mislead on the phone rates I had a huge phone bill when checking out was very angry also the tv in the room was very bad remote didn't work channels would lock up told maintinence about it and they didn't have an answer also the heater […] in the room was from 1923 you would think after spending 22 million on upgrades they would have modernized the heating system you need to take these items into. Very good location with little noise from the neighbouring train station. Rooms are very good value and the staff, including the excellent porter,are to be commended.

The hotel was wonderful and the location ideal. The staff were very friendly and always available to answer any questions. The only bad thing I could say is that housekeeping will knock on your door early to see whether you want your room cleaned, so put a Do not disturb sign out if you don't want to be awakened at 8:00 a.m.

We spent three nights at the hotel. The purpose of the visit was to do christmas shopping in Glasgow city centre. The hotel was the perfect location with ideal parking facility. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. Our only complaint was that the room we were given was not the one in the deal that we had booked,also, the bathroom fan was not working, […] we felt that the room was not prepared for guests as there was no tea /coffee facilities or toiletries in the bathroom. I have stayed in this hotel on a few occassions now. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a central location. I was disappointed this time due to the noise from the christmas party that was going on in the hotel. I was on the second floor & the party was below me, music played loudly until 1am. The doors in the corridors slammed all night & was […] very annoying. I was also surprised at the quality of the mattress which was very uncomfortable. I could feel every spring & had to lay on the duvet to make it comfortable. Perhaps its time for the hotel to invest in some new mattresses. Also the housekeeping began knocking on doors to clean the rooms at 8.30am which woke me up after having stayed awake the night before due to the loud music from the christmas party. The hotel and staff were generally good. Except our first room the bed was rather small. The hotel happily moved us to a room with a king bed for the rest of the stay. The hotel has recently had a £20 million makeover, so everything is brand new. Extremely spacious rooms with high ceilings. The entrance to the hotel is either on the street or direct from Glasgow Central station, so an incredibly convenient location. The checkin staff and concierge were extremely friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Only minor […] downsides were lack of climate control in the rooms and the faintly audible train announcements. Brings back the old Grand Style Hotels missing in todays modern hotels.

This hotel is in an excellent location for exploring the city centre on foot and also right next to the train station and a short 5 minute walk to the subway. Also the airport shuttle bus stops at the corner of the next street just across from the hotel. There are lots of eating and shopping close by. My room was a bit small but was no different from […] what I would expect for a centrally located older European hotel. The bathroom was very nice and modern . I interacted with the concierge staff on a few occasions and they were always very helpful and accommodating.. The staff at check in were much friendlier than I would have expected from a large city centre hotel and it was lovely to be in one of the old British Rail hotel buildings. The large staircase, the wide hallways and the Victorian proportions are so beautiful. However, there were issues. They seem to have communication problems: first of all the confirmation […] email we received said that we MUST present “government issued photo ID on check-in”. We found this odd and wondered what they would do if we didn’t have it with us. In the end we did take our passports but we were never asked to show any ID at check in. Then, the room information said that breakfast was from 7:30am to 11am. We were looking forward to a nice, leisurely breakfast until we noticed a sign in the lift saying that breakfast finished at 9:30am. We rang reception to check the times and, indeed, breakfast finished at 9:30am. We would have had an unpleasant surprise if we’d relied on the information in the room. Despite the beautiful building and the four star qualification the overall impression was of a budget hotel. It was a good size room but there was only one armchair, yes we had tea and coffee but only one biscuit. There were certainly no extras that I would expect in a four star hotel like robes, stationary, notepad and pen by the phone, shower cap, bottled water, etc. For some reason the bathroom door has a large, frosted glass window in it which means that if your partner uses the bathroom in the night the light floods the bedroom. Our window actually overlook Glasgow Central Station -- those announcements start awfully early and we could hear every word while we were trying to sleep. It really started to go wrong with the internet access which they charge extra for. It was so slow that my web pages kept timing out. After an hour online I managed to write one email. I tried it again the next morning and it was no better. Then there was the breakfast which has a list price of £16.00. All self-s Lees meer

Fun to be in and see this totally renovated Grand old hotel. Rooms was big and roomy & all in all quite comfortable. Staff efficient tho a little aloof. Location at the train station was perfect as we had to catch a 6:30 train to London. Wish it were a little cheaper, but you cant have everything. Why do hotels insist on these damned duvets? They are […] too much usually, but there's little you can do but take the cover off the duvet and hope that it is sufficient since there is never an extra blanket! Lees meer

Wonderful old world quality with modern appointments. Great stay, attached to central station so very convenient for trains to Glasgow area airports.
