Very convenient with lovely views.

Situated right on the lake. absolutely beautiful room, lovely view of the lake,great service, staff all too happy to help when ever called upon all hours of the day and night. Easy wall to the town centre and restaurants near by.

Excellent quality, good service, great food and an awesome room with a view. Will definetly stay there again.

we booked on Hotels .com a budget double,when we arrived at our room it was not what we had thought we had booked via your sight. we have over the years stayed at Ridges on many occasions,and been very happy with the rooms that we had booked via other means. Reception was very good and were able to up grade us this however cost us.even though we booked […] a budget room, i feel the site side did not show the room we were given , i have checked the site to day and the budget room does not look like the one we were given, I have viewed other acc sites and they show the same room as the site,I think that this is some what mis-leading.advertising. Hotel room booked was not what we got manager was very off handed and not helpfull very abrupt room not cleaned properly rubbish from day one still there when we left towels not changed view good breakfast very nice if you went early cold if not staff need good lesson inservice before I would go back

We had a very nice stay the rooms were nice, our friends room needed a refurbishment but ours was very nice. The bar could have been opened at check in time 2pm,raining one day and we had to hang around our room til 5pm before we could have a drink and game of pool. Good basic hotel to base yourself for touring the Queenstown area. Nothing flashy but provides the basics at a reasonable price.

The hotel has the most convenient location and looks quite grand. Be careful when you select your rooms. All the ones on a special deal are located in the 'back quarter' and have no view of the lake. These rooms at the back have not been maintained well. The bathroom is pretty basic and needs some work. The room itself could do with a coat of paint-it […] looked old and tired. Lees meer

I enjoyed every aspect of my stay at Rydges in Queenstown. Very nice room with balcony overlooking the lake and wonderful buffet breakfast

We had high expectations but the room was little more than a closet. Actually, we have stayed in better backpackers than this. We got no sleep because there was very little ventilation and no air conditioning when it was really hot. There was a massive crack which circulated the room. It was old and tiny. So I had lake facing room and on the 3rd floor. Big problem for us was the balcony is really part of the roofing so you had to walk right out to the railing and you shared this with all the other rooms on that floor, in other words not private. So I walk to the edge of the railing, turn around and I can see into everyone elses room. I had to keep my […] curtains closed, i hate people watching me. We asked for an upgrade to a private balcony and we were given one the following day, Thankyou I appreciated that. The rooms are very very clean. The size was fairly small, you know what's it like trying to live tidy in a small hotel room for a few days, impossible. Excellent location, in fact one of the best. Overal the quality of the stay was fine, however, there were a few issues. The first was the lack of parking on site, and only the road was available. This of course can mean a considerable walk to your vehicle, depending on time of day you check in. The room was good, but the bathroom was small. The water pressure in the showers was so great it caused […] the shower curtain to fold into the bath resulting in flooding the floor. The heated mirror was giving off so much heat it was uncomfortable. You are close enough to town, a 5-10min walk from downtown, so location is not an issue unless you require assistance. We stayed in Rydges for 6 nights in January and were very happy with the hotel. The room was very clean and the staff we very helpful. We had a wonderful view from the window as well. The only negative thing was that the cars could park in front of the balcony but the window was higher up and there weren't that many cars, luckily :-) We still saw the […] lake and the boats passing by :-) The hotel is also perfectly located - just walking distance from the town centre, which was brilliant and very convenient :-) Lees meer

It's old fashion, built in 80s hotel with poor service and shabby rooms ... There is a maze of lifts to go on 7-9 floors and in front of you - parking ... We recently stayed in Queenstown at Rydges (November 2011) after booking a low/reasonably priced room through hotels.com. Rydges appears to be divided into two sections, and the low priced room booked through hotels.com was in a kinda grungy part. The front of the hotel looks great, with pretty views of the lake and the Remarkables, and the staff were […] very accommodating and friendly. However, the room was very, very basic; for example, the bathroom was similar to one you might find at a campsite (single shower stall with a metal floor; two taps for hot and cold water; not much space and only 1 towel per person). The hotel fronts the main street leading out of town, and our room facing the back of the hotel was also was a bit busy/noisy (we could clearly hear the restaurant staff when they would take their breaks). The room is fine, but extremely bare bones (if you're from the US, think Motel 6). We stayed at two other hotels in Queenstown, and this was our least favorite. It's a little bit of walk into the main part of town (close to 10 min.), although there is very nice park opposite the hotel, bordering the lake. I would recommend friends and family to check out the other hotels we stayed at before looking at Rydges. Especially since the photos of rooms on the Rydges website did not at all reflect the low quality of the room that we actually stayed in. Lees meer

I was stayed at this hotel for 4 nights.It's beautiful lakeside , quiet and comfortable.But very far away from the town centre.There is no any transport to town.Only by taxi. And one thing that no safety deposit box in my room and NZD$50 missed in my luggage.So stupidly didnt lock it.

Good price Close walking distance to Town Centre The only problem we had was that they gave us a free upgrade from Queen to King which turned out to just be 2 single beds joined together.

great location, great bang for the bucks, join their club for even better deals, only negative is squeaky floors

We have stayed at this hotel twice in the last 2 months and love the location and the fact that there is plenty of free parking but the decor of the hotel and especially the budget room we last booked are marginal to say the least. I would probably choose to pay another $10-$20 and stay in another hotel. Staff were friendly though.

Fabulous motel, great service, nice rooms and what an amazing view. Definate value for money.

Excellent hotel location, but with a budget room you get what you pay for. The budget rooms are towards the back of the hotel, old, the carpet needed serious cleaning, and noisy from people/cars on Brunswick street. We were initially on the 8th floor, right outside the air con unit, but after mentioning it to the staff, they were very helpful and at […] least moved us up one floor (which was quieter, and the bathroom was cleaner). However, the price we paid for was extremely reasonable, so I would probably go back in the future. Just have low expectations before you arrive, as the quality of the room is akin to a private room in a backpacker's hostel than a 4 star hotel. Lees meer

We found the bathroom continually hot. Was this an airconditioning problem. Also, the shower curtain was very annoying in that when the shower was on the curtain billowed inwards and stuck onto the person having the shower. I guess something to do with a draft created by the high pressure water. But an unpleasant sensation all the same.

Excellent location next to lake in Queenstown with only a 7min walk in to the town centre. The hotel was well maintained and our lake facing room was exceptional. The hotel food was good and the staff very helpful and friendly.

Located right oppostite the lake a few minutes walk from the town centre. The hotel provides a comfortable nights stay with views of the lake from many rooms at affordable prices, as well as the outdoor areas around the pool and spa. This is a very good value for the money. The bathroom was sort of dated and the rooms facing the lake get a little loud with road noise but it is well worth staying there for the view and other amenities.

We only booked the cheapest accom without a view, but it was really good for the price. The second time we came back and stayed they even upgraded us and gave us a great room with a fantastic view, for no extra charge. This was the best value for money hotel we have ever stayed at.
