We really enjoyed soaking in our "private" hot tub after a long day of walking around. ..Once we got used to the office building windows 40 feet away where people were working late. The room was surprisingly small, but well maintained. We were a little disappointed that the whole room was for sale (the usual candy and robes, but also coffee cups, stuffed […] animals, umbrellas, socks, condoms, and full bottles of wine), especially considering the limited space. I so enjoy this hotel, and have stayed here before on business. However, last time it took 20 minutes to retrieve my car. This time I asked for a taxi to go to the airport. The front desk called the valet, who said he'd get a taxi. I went outside--no one was around, but there were TWO taxis parked within sight of the hotel. After I waited for a while, […] I walked half a block, hailed the taxi that was just waiting and went to the airport. The driver explained that the valets tend to call friends or acquaintances and my experience was not uncommon. As a guest of the hotel, I believe my needs (a taxi) should be more important than the relationship between the valet and some preferred driver. I will seriously rethink staying at this hotel again. Great place, good service, very very comfortable beds. The only downside comment was my wife gave was the bathroom lacks "horizontal space". Didn't bother me at all, I'm bald.

Nice hotel, nice enough room. Old building, completely gutted and new. Very Small lobby. No hotel bar. Attached restaurant. Room carpet smelled. Parking expensive.

The staff members were extremely nice and helpful

We had some issues w/housekeeping who cleaned our room after our first morning and forgot to leave clean hand towels. We also had no hair dryer in our room. Hotel is undergoing renovation and our room was directly adjacent to the reno area - very messy and noisy during the day. Good points are the wine happy hour - though it is only an hour (5-6 p.m.) […] could be extended a bit. The Hotel Vintage Plaza is an amazing, restful location. The room was gorgeous, and the location is excellent. The food in the restaurant below is fantastic. The location is wonderful. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

Excellent location in the Pearl district, very close to everything. Valet service is great at a reasonable fee. Bed was comfortable (king), however all pillows that were supplied were no support down. Even using 3 pillows my head still almost touched the mattress. Great hotel and location, just BYOP.

We were really pleased that when we arrived there was a printout on the desk about close kid friendly restaurants and activities. The hotel isn't kid/family oriented (meaning it still is cool and has a wine reception), but kids aren't looked down on either, which was very much appreciated.

The room, was a perfect size, and the view was great. Staff was very accommodating and nice. There was a smell in the elevator bay due to remodeling, but not too offensive. That was the only detractor from this great stay.

Hotel Vintage Plaza is a great place to stay in Portland. Convenient, clean and dog-friendly. Also they have a wine reception every evening. Lovely!

The hospitality was wonderful. However the pictures I had viewed of my room online while booking were VERY misleading! The room looked much larger in photographs then it actually was and I was not too pleased about that. I also don't appreciate my hotel room feeling like a merchandise store. Everywhere you look there was an item with a price tag on […] it. Robes in the closet that you had to purchase and even down to a cute little stuffed animal on that bed that was for sale. Thank goodness my daughter was not on this trip or I would of had to fork out the $35 just for the stuffed animal placed on our bed at arrival. I can understand charging for items but don't place them all over my room. If I want to purchase a robe from you then I will call the front desk and ask. I did however enjoy my stay, just not sure I will come back for such reasons listed above! Lees meer

The staff was always friendly and very responsive. I think we got a great value for the price and would definitely stay there again!

Great location, friendly staff and well-appointed rooms, plus one of Portland's best restaurants does the room service. You can't ask for more! I love this hotel and stay here every time I'm in Portland.

I loved the hotel, staff was friendly and accomodating. Room was nice, clean...good price value..But when I got our bill, they charged us 35.00 a day to park our car...that was almost 1/3 of our hotel room rate. It was more than the rental of the car. Considering the town is empty at night. I can't amagine that parking prices were based off demand...Next […] time I wll ask how much parking will be...Yikes.! Very nice hotel and room. Location is near, but not in, the Pearl District where there is a high density of good restaurants. But its only an 8 minute walk to there. !0 minute walk to the train station (or can take the MAX). Internet was free once you signed up for their loyalty program.

Simple, boutique hotel in a great location. Old building but reasonably well maintained and decent renovation (probably a few years back). Stayed in a two queen bed suite on 9th floor. Not much of a view but decent light. Bathroom was small but modern enough. One drawback of the room was the lack of table/counter space. The downside of minimalist decor […] I suppose. Overall for the price paid I'd check it out again when we are planning another trip to Portland. Lees meer

The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Great location to be downtown portland. There are a lot of great restaurants walking distance from the hotel. Best of all is there are great hotel if you are traveling with your pet. They are extremely nice to your pet and can tell you the pet friendly restaurants and parks. Made my trip great! First the service from Hotels.com was great! We got a deal by making our reservation on the day we checked in. The hotel is very boutique and the decor is mod, but retro. The bedding was fabulous, so much so I am ordering pillows from their website. Great location to shopping and light rail. Pazzo's Restaurant is amazing! JUST GREAT, AND WALKING DISTANCE TO SO MANY THINGS OF INTEREST.

Very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Centrally located and very hospitable staff. The only complaint I could think of was that the room was on the small side but usually to be expected in an older building and a downtown city location. Hotel is renovated so don't let the older building description scare you. Would definitely stay again.

Right in the heart of downtown Portland, greeted with a lovely happy hour consisting of local wines and extremely friendly staff, our stay was awesome!

I loved this hotel. The fireplace in the lobby along with the warmth of the welcoming staff--I knew I chose the right hotel. The rooms were beautifully appointed--understated, but just right. Lobby was a great place to relax and the nightly wine tastings of local wine was a wonderful prelude to any number of the cities restaurants. We loved this hotel and it's location. It was just a few minutes walk to everything. They also do a wine hour in the evenings with a few snacks from the resturant, Pazzo. The only down side (and why I gave it 4 starts instead of 5) was that the windows were old and every time a bus or loud car would drive down our street, the windows would rattle and […] shake. Good thing I always travel with ear plugs. My friend stayed in the hot tub room on the 9th floor, which was really cute and had a nice little balcony. Great stay overall. Lees meer

This hotel is only two blocks away from a red-line train stop in the heart of downtown. If you're flying into PDX, just hop on the red-line and it'll take about 40 minutes to get here. The location is superb- plenty of restaurants and coffee shops within a stone's throw, tourist attractions and public parks within a 1 mile radius, train and bus stops […] within walking distance and car rentals that will pick you up from the hotel. The front desk employees are all extremely familiar with the Portland area. Any question I had for them was answered in good detail. The room was cozy and relaxing. My only complaints were that my window faced another hotel building (you should request a street-facing view), the goose down pillows were far too soft for me (I like very firm pillows; these got as flat as a pancake under my head) and the room had a very awkward layout. The room was in the shape of a U, with the door being at one tip, the bed in the crux and a desk and chair at the other tip. The bathroom door was placed right next to the main door and opened up such that anyone in the hallway could peer into the bathroom if the main door were opened. We stayed here for five nights in October 2011.following a 25 minute cab ride from the airport we arrived at the hotel to be greeted by sharply dressed bellman happy to take our bags straight to the room .The hotel staff was very happy and helpful and quick .when we got to our room and went in we were happy to see a stuffed animal on our nicely decorated […] room and bed .The stuffed animal really made us feel relaxed kind of like being at home after a long flight .The next morning we had breakfast at the hotel restaurant ,I tryed the salmon omlette which was excellent .we had read some reviews that said it was noisy at the hotel ,we stayed on the 5th floor and only heard the garbage truck early one morning.We would highly recommend this hotel due to it's great location walking distance to the infamous Voodoo Doghnuts. I chose this hotel based on its proximity to the Tri-Met trains and buses. It was all so easy to catch the train at the airport and exit at Pioneer Square. The bus routes I required were within two blocks as well. The hotel itself was wonderful, very clean, spacious and modern. The staff was professional and friendly. The hotel apparently invests more in wine kitsch than it does on creating a quality guest experience. We checked in earlyish and were told that the hotel was already full and assigned a low-floor, tiny, dark room staring into the belly of an office building that stood about 20 feet away. We were dished a face load of attitude when we asked to change […] rooms. The new room was better, though the A/C rattled and the disco downstairs pulsed with wedding dance music late into the night. Great hotel in most aspects, but one big shortcoming was the variety and volume of noises in the "Starlight Room" we stayed in. We could hear street noises. We could hear building settling noises. We could hear mechanical noises. We could hear the guy in the next room's peeing noises. And god forbid someone in an adjacent room should open/close their […] blinds--it sounds like the world is coming to an end. Maybe other rooms with smaller windows and not at the top of the hotel are quieter, but I would definitely not recommend a starlight room (unless you don't mind sleeping with ear plugs -- which we did the 2nd night). Great overall experience. Nice room and lobby layout and friendly staff. I typically slept too late to enjoy the free coffee and didn't make it back in time for the free happy hour, but those are always nice to have available. Quiet at night and in a nice part of town. My wife and I had a great time in Portland - and it was 100 times better with the hotel we stayed in! We would definitely stay at this hotel again!

Rated at 4 stars, the Hotel Vintage Plaza should have been rated at 3 1/2 stars instead. My traveling companions and I were completely put off when we opened the doors to our rooms and were assaulted by a musty, stale, old-building smell. The smell was bad enough to make us reconsider our choice in hotels, but we had paid everything and it was too ate […] in the evening to go looking for another hotel. We were also less than pleased to see rusty towel racks in the bathrooms. Although the rooms were fairly clean and tidy, the carpet felt like there was a thin layer of grime or dirt on it. We were disappointed in the lack of a swimming pool, but we also understood that the hotel is situated in the middle of downtown Portland. On the positive side of things, the people attending to our needs (valet, reception, concierge, cleaning ladies, etc.) were all very courteous and friendly, and they all went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We really appreciated Brian's wit and humor (front desk, evening shift the evening before we left), as well as Michael's efficient and professional service as we checked out on the last day. The free coffee service in the mornings were wonderful, even if they ended a bit too early for our tastes (9:30am). We missed the wine tastings in the evenings, but Brian graciously arranged for us to get a chance to try the wine! Of the two hotels we stayed at during our trip, the shampoo and conditioner at the Hotel Vintage Plaza were the best quality. The hotel is in a prime area of downtown Portland - just a few blocks from Pioneer Square for some shopping, and a few blocks from one of the biggest areas/blocks for the yummy food carts. Our rating of the hotel itself was a 3. Our rating of the hotel's employees was a 5. Our overall rating of our entire stay was a 4 out of 5. Lees meer

We have been traveling for 9 months and this smaller hotel was a magical experience! Personal, clean, decoration amazing, personal touches: 5 pm drinks in the lobby! We have made many return visits to the Vintage Plaza and feel like we are going home to friends when we arrive. Michael at the desk is w3onderful as is Lia and Angel and Marcel at the door are wonderful. Beautiful front and lobby. The rooms are not what is pictured on the web-site. Stain on the sofa, cobwebs, dust, the faucet in the shower was coming off of the wall, and my husband wiped off black film from the light switches. Over priced for this much filth.

Kimpton is my favorite hotel chain, because rather than having some sterile cookie-cutter for every hotel they really go out of their way to emphasis a unique style for every property. Their hotels reflect the character of their surroundings, and provide a luxurious and well appointed alternative to the Starwood/Marriott/etc business chains. The Vintage […] Plaza was no exception, and my only regret was that I was only able to stay for one night. I stayed with my daughter in a standard 2 queen room. I was able to enjoy the complimentary wine hour, and was so happy to see a k-cup coffee maker with a few extra servings for the next morning. The hotel is even pet-friendly, and their Diva of Pet Relations, Georgie, is possibly the best hostess I've ever met. Price to value is amazing! I'm not sure where else I could stay in a 4-star hotel in a big city for the price we paid. Small nit: the towel rack in the shower was quite rusty. Fortunately, when I reported this to the front desk they assured me that rooms were undergoing some maintenance and she put my room at the top of the list for replacement of the towel rack.
