We hadden een kamer met uitzicht op de tropische tuin, prachtig. Kamer van alle gemakken voorzien. Wel veel problemen gehad bij het inchecken: men vroeg om onze creditcard als borg voor eventuele uitgaven die wij tijdens ons verblijf zouden maken. Onze card werkte echter niet en dat werd als een (abnormaal) groot probleem gezien; ondanks dat wij aanboden om tot 500 dollar cash te 'betalen'; men wilde ons zelfs in 1e instantie als gast weigeren, terwijl het hotel natuurlijk al via hotels.com betaald was. Zeer onaangenaam en men ging pas meewerken nadat we erg hebben opgespeeld; uiteindelijk 100 dollar borg betaald. Geen leuk begin van een verder overigens prima verblijf daar.

Prima locatie om van daaruit San Diego te ontdekken. Naar o.a. de Zoo, het Balbaopark en ophaaladres van huurauto gebracht en opgehaald met shuttledienst van het hotel, ideaal. Schone kamer, van alle gemakken voorzien. Redelijk ontbijt met plastic bordjes en bestek.

Heerlijk hotel, niet ver van Sea World, San Diego Zoo, uss Midway, Gaslamp, Old Town en het strand. Allemaal binnen acceptabele tijd per auto te bereiken. Super mooi hotel met ruime kamers. Het is wel een gehorig hotel, wat vooral in het weekend lawaai met zich mee bracht van buren. Door de weeks was de marine aan de overkant van het water met trainingen bezig. Dit vonden wij niet heel storend, maar het geluid is er wel. Verder zit ontbijt er niet bij in en is heel duur als je dat nog bij wilt nemen. Dat is echt een minpunt. Als je dit hotel boekt, hou er rekening mee dat het twee locaties zijn. Wij zaten in de tower en het 'grotere gebeuren' was verder op. We hadden wel een lobby, servicebalie, restaurant en verwarmd zwembad, dus dat is prima voor elkaar. De starbucks en de grote lobby van de foto's zit in het andere gedeelte. De kamers zijn echt super ruim! We hadden een ruim zitgedeelte en eettafel erbij, en dat voor een gewone kamer. Uitzicht op zee was erg mooi.
Ligging.
L'Auberge Del Mar - Destination Hotels & Resorts ligt heel handig vlak bij de luchthaven in het hartje van Del Mar, dicht bij Racebaan Del Mar en Staatsstrand Torrey Pines. Een andere bezienswaardigheid in de buurt is Universiteit van Californië-San Diego.
Hotelvoorzieningen.
L'Auberge Del Mar - Destination Hotels & Resorts heeft een volledig uitgeruste spa, 2 buitenzwembaden, onoverdekte tennisbanen en een healthclub. In openbare ruimtes wordt een gratis snelle internetverbinding (draadloos en via kabel) aangeboden. De zakelijke voorzieningen bij deze 5-sterrenaccommodatie zijn onder andere een businesscentrum met 24/7 toegang, vergaderruimtes voor kleine groepen en vergaderruimtes. Dit hotel in luxe stijl heeft een restaurant, een koffiebar/café en een zwembadbar. Het personeel kan op verzoek een conciërgeservice, hulp bij excursies/tickets en een huwelijksservice regelen. Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een spabad, een kinderclub en een spa. Parkeerruimte is tegen betaling beschikbaar, maar beperkt. Dit is een rookvrije accommodatie.

Elke kamer heeft een balkon met uitzicht op de oceaan, het zwembad of het binnenplein. L'Auberge Del Mar - Destination Hotels & Resorts heeft 120 kamers met airconditioning die zijn voorzien van iPod-dockingstations en een cd-speler. Alle bedden hebben een pillowtop-matras met lakens van Egyptische katoen, driedubbele lakens en premium beddengoed. Gasten hebben gratis (draadloos) breedband internet op de kamer. Elke 42-inch lcd-televisie heeft premiumkanalen via digitale ontvanger, een videogameconsole en een internetverbinding via tv (toeslag). Alle kamers beschikken over een (laptop)kluis, een kluis en een luidsprekertelefoon met voicemail en gratis lokale gesprekken (hiervoor kunnen beperkingen gelden). Elke badkamer is voorzien van een aparte badkuip en douche, badjassen, designer toiletartikelen en een föhn.
Elke kamer heeft een koelkast, een minibar en een espressomachine. Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een gratis krant en een koffiezetapparaat/waterkoker. Bovendien kun je op verzoek gebruikmaken van voorzieningen zoals hypoallergeen beddengoed en een telefonische wekdienst. Een turndownservice wordt elke avond aangeboden terwijl een huishoudservice dagelijks beschikbaar is. Op de kamers van L'Auberge Del Mar - Destination Hotels & Resorts mag niet worden gerookt.
Afhankelijk van het hotelbeleid kan voor extra personen een toeslag worden aangerekend.
Bij het inchecken dien je in het geval van incidentele kosten een erkend identiteitsbewijs en een creditcard voor te leggen.

Het oude Hollywood ging voor de nodige afzondering naar Del Mar. Tegenwoordig zijn jockeys hier de belangrijkste attractie. Iedere zomer komt de Del Mar Racetrack met paardenrennen tot leven. Het renseizoen begint met het einde van de San Diego County Fair in juli. Del Mar maakt deel uit van North Country, de buitenwijk die als de buitenrand van het grootstedelijke San Diego wordt beschouwd.

Amazing location and rooms are clean, modern and well appointed. Pool is a bit disappointing as it is small and looks over the parking lot. Breakfast incredibly expensive and not so great. Family friendly place.

really enjoyed staying here at the hotel. The restaurant with her. All the staff was friendly and helpful. some of the staff is not very knowledgeable about the hotel is the surrounding areas but other than that I would give this a 5 star!

Great location, competitively proced for similar quality hotels. A few steps from the beach with ocean view from many rooms and all the common areas. Definitely our "go to" hotel for this area!

No tub in our room (nice shower though) full size beds made me long for the days when two queens were standard. Excellent service and location. Friendly and accommodating toward my family. 4.5/5
"Excellent luxury value and location"
A very fine luxury boutique hotel with ocean view, lively hotel lobby with bar and live music on weekend evenings. Attractive architecture and landscapping. Decent restaurant with inside/outside eating options. But right across the street you also have many good restaurant choices. Also a short walk to the beach and beach side parks and play areas for […] kids. The coastal train does pass close by the hotel but we don't mind it because the train is part of life and the history of this area. The rooms are well maintained but not large. We wish the two beds were queen instead of just double. Swimming pool is very nice, clean and heated and surrounded by glass fence to block any wind. Also a good jaccuzi. Our kids were able to swimm for over an hour each day during February stay. We felt the prices were all reasonable for the quality received. Lees meer
"Very Nice"
My wife and I stayed at L'Auberge in January. The weather was perfect and the hotel was not crowded. We had a room with a small garden seating area, and would probably opt for a ocean view should we return. The rooms are very nice and comfortable will all the amenities. Breakfast was excellent as were the staff persons throughout the hotel. There is […] a nice small market across the street for picnic/wine supplies for the beach. We did not use any of the resort facilities. However, I do wish resort hotels would prominently display the "resort fee" in the price for the room. Although only $14, I find it irritating to have to read the really small print to find this charge listed, especially and a relatively expensive hotel like L'Auberge. Further, there is no parking at the hotel except valet at $25/day. One day it would be nice to see the "fee" included in the cost of the room and disclosure of the parking situation. "Need More than One Night"
In order to enjoy L'Auberge Del Mar, you need to stay more than one night. Unfortunately, my wife and I only had a one night stay and were unable to take advantage of the spa or other facilities the hotel has to offer. We hope to return in the future for a longer stay.
"Great hotel..but a few things you should know....."
Loved the hotel but be aware there is an additional $25 a day parking AND $14 a day resort fee, so you will be paying over and above your rate....$39 per day. Also the fitness room is below average...I have seen better fitness rooms in Motels!
"Not a 5 star hotel"
If you're not picky, and you don't travel all that much, this hotel is a good choice based on location. But, on a service and amenities level, this is more of a 4 star property. Basically, if you want something, you have to ask for it. That includes help with your baggage, showing you to your room, maid service, turn down service, etc. They will help […] you, but only if you ask. I'm not used to that with a 5 star property. I travel extensively, and I typically stay at the Ritz or Four Seasons, this is not that kind of experience. The rooms are nice enough. Well appointed with plenty of space for your belongings. I was a bit put off by the fact that my room was so close to the fire pit/roof top area that I was practically in the middle of 2 weddings. It was awkward to sit on my balcony without feeling like a lurker. There was an odd smell on the second floor that was a bit like raw sewage. I have no idea what it was, but thankfully, that smell did not make it into my room so I was okay. The spa was top notch. I loved my treatment and my therapist. I would HIGHLY recommend the spa. The location of the hotel is amazing. It's close to some great restaurants, a gourmet market, and good shopping. Lees meer
"L'Auberge Del Mar in Del Mar, CA"
Stayed for four nights in June 2011. This was our second visit. First visit was about three years ago. I love this hotel and would have stayed longer if I had the time. It has all the amenities I prefer which include nice clean spacious rooms, great restaurant, a fitness room, tennis courts, short walk to the beach, shops and restaurants close by and […] even a small market across the street. I watched the sunset over the Pacific Ocean and was extremely content. I will stay no where else when in San Diego North County. "Conveniently located, small piece of heaven!"
I LOVED this hotel. The decorations are charming & inviting. Its honestly the cutest & most charming hotel I've ever stayed at. There are a ton of restaurants & shops walking distance away. The outside patio has a fire pit & water feature. The beach is maybe 2 minutes away. The beds are soft & inviting with a stylish duvet on the down comforter and […] a fortress of pillows. The rooms even come with a mini keurig complete with coffee, decaf coffee or tea options. No detail was missed in designing the hotel. I normally stay at Westin or Ritz hotels. Acoustics in Room 119 was terrible. There was no insulation between the rooms, especially through the shared room doors. There were noisy people in next room and you could "partake" of the conversation as if you were both in the same room. Unfortunately, they decided to have a party all night. "L'Auberge Del Mar"
Loved almost every single thing, especially the surroundings, the staff, and the comfort. Only a couple of little disappointments: the coffee maker and the clock in our room did not work. Also, although the beds are comfy, the blanket was not.(strange material). A rather big disappointment was trying to have breakfast both at very pretty areas both […] inside & out. "Surprisingly Uncomfortable…"
I arrived late to this establishment expecting to have an experience befitting a hotel rated so highly, priced as it was, and having touted the comfort of the bed. You see for the most part I believe that a hotel is largely as good as its beds – we are after all sleeping over at a place which is not our own. In reflection, the bed was the largest disappointment […] of my brief stay. The sheets were almost hard and the bedding (duvet) was rough and slightly itchy. That notwithstanding, the parking was very expensive and for the price the valet was a bit aggressive about a tip! Living in Vegas by way of New England (where tipping is an art), the rule of thumb is this: If you have to pay for Valet, a very modest tip is in order – if however, Valet is complimentary, you tip about what parking would have cost up to about $10. Evidently, the Valet in this luxury hotel destination did not get that memo… I will not stay again, nor do I recommend this establishment unless you get the accommodations for free, or at a massively discounted rate. "Nice hotel"
Enjoyed our stay and would stay there again for sure. However, we had a problem with noise below our room with a service door that slammed continuously during an outdoor function. When we called about it, they were VERY accommodating and moved us to another (even upgraded) room.

we went to this hotel for our babymoon. one of the best hotels in san diego. it has privacy, luxury and a beach 100 feet down a private lane.
