We hadden een kamer met uitzicht op de tropische tuin, prachtig. Kamer van alle gemakken voorzien. Wel veel problemen gehad bij het inchecken: men vroeg om onze creditcard als borg voor eventuele uitgaven die wij tijdens ons verblijf zouden maken. Onze card werkte echter niet en dat werd als een (abnormaal) groot probleem gezien; ondanks dat wij aanboden om tot 500 dollar cash te 'betalen'; men wilde ons zelfs in 1e instantie als gast weigeren, terwijl het hotel natuurlijk al via hotels.com betaald was. Zeer onaangenaam en men ging pas meewerken nadat we erg hebben opgespeeld; uiteindelijk 100 dollar borg betaald. Geen leuk begin van een verder overigens prima verblijf daar.

Prima locatie om van daaruit San Diego te ontdekken. Naar o.a. de Zoo, het Balbaopark en ophaaladres van huurauto gebracht en opgehaald met shuttledienst van het hotel, ideaal. Schone kamer, van alle gemakken voorzien. Redelijk ontbijt met plastic bordjes en bestek.

Het hotel ligt in de zogenoemde hotel circle, een een groep van meerdere hotels rondom een snelweg die door de stad loopt. Het hotel was goed geprijst en zeer schoon en netjes, wat dat betreft een grote aanrader. Met een (klein) zwembad, spa en fitness al met al zeer comfortabel en een goedkoop alternatief voor de dure hotels op centralere plekken. Nadeel is wel dat je niet naar de stad kan lopen en altijd met een bus of auto moet, en zoals gezegd niet op een romantische locatie. Bus/metrostation is wel in de buurt op circa 10 minuten lopen, halte fashion valley (groot winkelcentrum). Personeel zeer vriendelijk, ook mogelijkheid om auto te huren (verhuurder zit in het hotel).

Hotel op zich was ok, maar de buurt was vreselijk (tenzij je van wirwars van snelwegen, autogarages, drankhandels en sexshops houdt). Vlakbij is het oude San Diego (samen met het nabije vliegveld de reden om hier te gaan zitten, de avond voorafgaand aan mijn vliegreis terug naar Nederland), dat is op zich aardig, hoewel Valkenburgachtig.
Ligging.
Westin San Diego ligt heel handig vlak bij de luchthaven in het hartje van San Diego, dicht bij Museum voor Hedendaagse kunst van San Diego, Maritiem museum van San Diego en Vliegdekschipmuseum. In de buurt vind je ook Westfield Horton Plaza en Repertoiretheater van San Diego.
Hotelvoorzieningen.
Westin San Diego heeft een buitenzwembad, een spabad en een fitnesscentrum. Een draadloze internetverbinding is beschikbaar in openbare ruimtes (tegen betaling). Dit hotel met 4 sterren beschikt over zakelijke voorzieningen waaronder een businesscentrum met 24/7 toegang en audiovisuele apparatuur. Dit hotel biedt diverse eetgelegenheden, zoals 2 restaurants plus een koffiebar/café en een bar/lounge. Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een spa, een conciërgebalie en meertalig personeel. Gasten kunnen gratis gebruikmaken van een luchthavenshuttle (op beperkt tijden) en een shuttlebus van en naar de cruiseschipterminal. Dit is een rookvrije accommodatie.
Hotelkamers.
Elke kamer biedt uitzicht op de stad of het water. Westin San Diego heeft 436 kamers met airconditioning die zijn voorzien van een kluis en een koffiezetapparaat/waterkoker. Alle bedden hebben een pillowtop-matras met premium beddengoed. Bij betaling van een toeslag kunnen gasten op de kamers gebruikmaken van een snelle internetverbinding (draadloos of via kabel) . Elke 32-inch flatscreen televisie heeft kanalen via de kabel en betaalfilms. Elke kamer beschikt over een bureau, ergonomische stoelen en een draadloze telefoon met voicemail. Elke badkamer is voorzien van een bad/douchecombinatie, badjassen, designer toiletartikelen en make-up/scheerspiegels.
Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een gratis weekkrant en een föhn. Bovendien kun je op verzoek gebruikmaken van voorzieningen zoals hypoallergeen beddengoed en een telefonische wekdienst. Een huishoudservice is dagelijks beschikbaar. Op de kamers van Westin San Diego mag niet worden gerookt.
Afhankelijk van het hotelbeleid kan voor extra personen een toeslag worden aangerekend.
Bij het inchecken dien je in het geval van incidentele kosten een erkend identiteitsbewijs en een creditcard voor te leggen.

De luchthaven van San Diego ligt vlak bij het water en ten noordwesten van het centrum. Je vindt bij de luchthaven het Diego Convention Center, het PetCo Park-stadion en de Gaslamp Quarter's. De restaurants en bars van deze wijk zijn het middelpunt van het nachtleven van de stad. Balboa Park en de San Diego Zoo zijn de groene strook van deze stedelijke jungle. Op Coronado Island heb je een prachtig uitzicht op de skyline van de stad.

I thought that I got a lot of value for the price I paid for this hotel. However, I believe there is a bit of a disconnect between Hotels.com and the hotel. When I booked, I requested two beds for two adults and ended up getting a king bed only. Apparently, the reservation did not come through that two beds instead of one would be needed. "No Full Length Mirror :("
This is my second time in the last two months staying at this location. I really do like this hotel and at the front desk is my favorite person Leon. He is always super helpful and kind to me when I check in. The only thing ladies, is to make sure you ask them if the room has a full length mirror. "Parking will be Extra$$$"
The hotel was nice and the people were great! I still don't like the fact that you have to pay to park your car there and it's not cheap and they charge you per night! Be sure to factor that in when you chose to stay downtown as I think that all hotels in the downtown area will charge you for parking. THE GASLAMP IS ABOUT 7 BLOCKS AWAY...NOT AN EASY WALK UNLESS YOU HAVE FLATS ON...BUT OVERALL NICE HOTEL. POOL & JACUZZI WERE UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

"Amazing, except for one thing!"
I absolutely loved everything about this hotel except for the fact that parking was $24!!!! Valet parking was $32!!!! Per day, no less. My advice: the parking structure directly across the street only charges $15 if u are in after noon and out by noon. After a typical weekend stay that's close to $30 in savings!!
"Westin Gaslamp - great overnight"
I bought a night at the Westin during a sale they were having and I definitely feel I got way more for my money. Parking as anywhere downtown will be was pricey but the room was clean, nice and comfortable.

For the past few years I've been staying at the Western because of the comfort and location. However, this last time 3/9/12 thru 3/11/12 the condition and the vallet parkings service were horrible. My room was not the room I requested and I had a bad television along with the sink being clogged up. To make matters worse I was late to a dinner due to […] the vallet parking taking more than 1/2 hour both on Friday night and Saturday even though I had called in advance to have my vehicle ready. "Not 4-star"
Nice hotel, but wouldn't call it 4-Star. They rip you off on parking as well. We paid $42 and only stayed one night.

"Great Hotel But"
This hotel has an ideal location near both the Gas Lamp district and Seaport Village. The room had an amazing harbor view as promised and had been recently renovated. Our only complaint was that the pool was closed for renovation and so we were sent up the street to another Westin, the pool there was fine but sorely lacking in amenities, and getting […] poolside service took forever as it needed to be done via the emergency phone through the hotels room service. "Fantastic"
This is my second time staying at the Weston in SD and I cant say how much I enjoyed my stay. The service was fantastic, our view was fantastic, and everything else was fantastic. Youre in walking distance from all the happenings in SD so its very convenient. If youre in SD for a night or even the weekend, I recommend the Westin.

"Good for the money"
Had a wonderful visit to San Diego. Hotel and workout room was what I expected. Concierge service was great. Appetizer food at bar, not very good.
Only complaint is that the pool was closed, but u can use the one at the westin by hortan plaza which is walkable.. but no poolside bar..
"Westin most bang for you buck"
Hotel was great pure comfort without breaking the bank. Will definitely stay again on our next trip to Dan Diego

"construction"
the whole hotel was under construction :( i came here to relax with my boyfriend and lay by the pool and read (even though it was a little chilly), but the whole pool was chained off and drained and under construction. Also, the front of the hotel, where valet normally, was in shambles. Valet was 32 dollars a day!! And they didnt even offer self parking. […] Disappointment because I thought we were getting a good rate on a luxurious hotel. Dont let the low rate fool you, Now i know its because its under construction. Lees meer
"Not So Good"
Very poor customer service from the gal at the front desk to the vallet.
We were given a handicapped room because the room we booked was not a guaranteed room since we booked on hotels.com. we were told the handicapped rooms bathroom was set up a little different. I didn't know that meant that the water from the shower runs into the room which makes it very dangerous for not only a regular person but most importantly a disabled […] one. also when I turned the water on the water started out brown which is very disgusting. The phone in between the beds did not work and only the phone on the desk which for a disabled person would be far. The trash cans also didn't have any trash bags. I was very disappointed with my stay here. I thought the Westin was supposed to be one of the higher end hotels but this visit proved me very wrong. Lees meer

The overall hotel stay was good but the bathroom reeked of urine. Sort of ruined the stay.

This hotel is very, very nice. I spent nearly twice the amount on a different hotel the night before and felt that the Westin was a steal comparatively. Large, clean rooms, comfy beds, and single cup Starbucks brewers in the room. What else do you need? The location is within walking distance from all the nightlife in the gaslamp district. "Westin on Broadway in SD (Beware Parking Charges)"
Before booking this hotel be warned there is mandatory valet parking that charges $32/night/car. Had I know this, I would have stayed at any number of nicer hotels for a comparable price.
I stayed at the hotel with a group of girlfriends last Sept...i remember the experience to be "ok." i decided to book again for a last min getaway with the boyfriend. i was pleased this trip. customer service was excellent and the room was nicer than i remember. i was afraid when i realized we had a corner room, but it was huge! bed was amazing comfortable […] and the room was very clean overall. i would def recommend and most likely stay again next time i head out to SD. "Modern hotel but noisy night"
Hotel was modern and pretty clean but at 2:30 in the morning there was a major disturbance with a couple yelling and banging on door maybe even kicking the door. Called the front desk to make sure they were aware, but should have been offered a discount upon check out.

already forgot rm #. It was to the side of a utility room heard hard knots on headboard wall side during my stay. Long narrow room a tittle bit of an L shape TV was way over to far wall....way to far from bed. Should not have been used as hotel room.
