St Giles Hotel New York - The Court in New York

Hotel met grote kamers, zeker voor New York. Wij waren er eind maart en verbleven 7 nachten in The Court. Buiten koud, binnen ontzettend warm. Airco deed het wel, maar maakte een hoop lawaai. Ramen konden niet open. Zou overigens ook geen optie zijn, want de kamer lag aan de Lexington Avenue met veel geluid van de weg. Goede bedden en prima douche. Geen […] goede betaalbare ontbijtfaciliteiten in hotel, in de buurt kan je wel goed op z'n Amerikaans ontbijten. Geen wifi, maar ook geen computers voor de hotelgasten. Vonden wij een gemis. Wel internetgebruik mogelijk tegen betaling (duur). Er is wel een bar in het hotel (de Lex-bar) maar het is er erg lawaaiig/ veel Amerikanen. Een goede gastenruimte/ gezellige lobby ontbreekt. Het is echt een hotel om alleen te slapen. Hotel ligt in een zakenbuurt waardoor er 's avonds minder valt te beleven in de directe nabijheid van het hotel. Is voor ons een minpunt. Je loopt wel heel gemakkelijk naar Grand Central om de metro te pakken naar andere buurten. Is ook 's avonds prima te doen. Je zit ook dicht bij het Empire State Building. Lopen naar Times Square is ook te doen, maar voor ons niet belangrijk (3e keer in New York). Het is maar net wat je wil. St. Giles heeft overigens 2 hotels naast elkaar. Op basis van het lezen van de waarderingen en de prijs hebben wij gekozen voor The Court. De ander lijkt ons achteraf toch beter en leuker. De indruk van de lobby met caf'e/restaurant maakte op ons een meer gastvrije indruk. I.t.t. de The Court ligt dit hotel niet op de straathoek met Lexington, waardoor wij vermoeden dat de kamers ook rustiger zijn. Lees meer

Great hotel with excellent location. Nice rooms, try to avoid rooms againt the street - very noisy. Helpful staff.

I stayed at the St.Giles for a visit with my daughter who goes to college in NYC. The room was not your typical NYC hotel room. Very spacious. The staff was very friendly and accomodating (especially Jenn and Aamira). The location is excellent. This will be the "hotel of choice" when we return to NYC.

This was the largest hotel room I have ever seen in NYC - bigger than my apartment was when I lived there. Room was very clean on the surface, but I do an extensive check. Found lots of hair under the pillow topper, but luckily nothing worse. Heater did not seem to be in sync with the thermostat, but the room was comfortable enough. I stayed at the Terrace Suite and it was great. For the price and location you won't find a better value. TV in the living room was busted but who cares when you're in NYC? Staff was friendly and helpful as well as prompt. 2 thumbs up!

Hotel room was the largest our family of four have stayed in. Furnished well. Creak floors. We had a street view room, Lexington Ave, and it was pretty noisy. My family can sleep through anything so it did not bother us. It definitely will bother light sleepers. Convenient to Times Square and subway. We will definitely stay here again.

I stayed at the St. Giles while on a business trip. I probably would have enjoyed the stay more if I were not traveling for business. The music in the lobby bar was extremely loud--not ideal for business travel during the week. And while I was upgraded to a larger room, which was nice, the sheets were dirty (footprint on my sheets?) as were the tow […] els. Lees meer

My wife, daughter and I stayed at the St. Giles last week in a mini suite. The rooms were big, clean and comfortable. The Staff was friendly and helpful. There was no problem (or extra charge) for a late check-out. The location was quiet yet within walking distance from the action. The negatives are that the restaurant was only open for breakfast and […] room service was breakfast only (but there were enough food places around to make up for that) and the common areas were small. There seem to be some building works next door as there was scaffolding over parts of the hotel but that never disturbed us. I would definitely use this hotel again. Lees meer

Very large rooms ( we had an ex suite). Bedroom faced Lexington Ave so was very noisey. I suggest they hang some curtains on the window to block out some of the noise. I would also suggest brighter lighting in the rooms (are they trying to hide something?). Excellent location close to transportation and walking distance to Times Square.

We had an excellent stay at the Hotel St. Giles. Large, comfortable and quiet room. We'll definitely stay there again.

I arrived at the hotel at 10.30am and requested an early check in. The gentleman at the front desk was very accomodating and helpful. Rooms are very large for NYC standards and very spacious. Hotel is very close to transportation and great restaurants. I prefer a firmer matress but overall, great hotel!

The room was a nice size for the money and location BUT the room was tired looking... upholstery ands carpeting are old and the heater was literally falling apart and made a lot of noise. I was never able to connect to the wireless but only realized on my last day there that it was free and so I probably would have made a bigger effort to connect. We stayed here for a weekend in NYC to celebrate our son's 18th birthday, 3 people in the room. Very very happy with the hotel. I picked it because the reviews indicated spacious rooms, and that was definitely the case. Basically it was a 1-bedroom apartment, more than enough room for 3 people. The location at 39th and Lexington is very convenient, […] it's an easy walk to the Empire State Bldg, Chrysler Bldg, Grand Central, and Rockefeller Center. Times Square is a doable walk as well. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. We're glad we picked this place and will definitely use it again for future trips to New York. Lees meer

We had a wonderful but short stay. So convenient as we took the train from our home and arrived at Grand Central which was a short and easy walk to the hotel. The room was small but very adequate for our visit. My husband commented on the sheets and they were very soft. How wonderful to open the blinds in our room and have a beautiful nightime view […] of the Chrysler Building. Usually you are looking at a nondescript building. We were looking for a hotel on short notice at a very busy time in December. I found the St Giles on line and took a chance. When we arrived at the hotel, the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. They even asked if we would like to have a suite at the same price. Needless to say, we had a very enjoyable time. Got a Junior Suite at the St. Giles - The Court. Our room was ENORMOUS. For once, a hotel in NYC that was not the size of a closet! Room had a full living room, a spacious bedroom, a walk in closet, even an entry hallway! What a nice room to come back to after a full day of sightseeing.

Very convenient location. Comfortable bed and nice bedding. The lobby was nice. The treats in the afternoon were very nice and the cider was welcome after a cold day of shopping. Would stay here again.

The guy checking us in was so nice and helpful, as well as the doorman! It seemed like they took the time to make us feel welcome and comfortable.

Having heard much about hotels with bed bugs, loud lobby parties, extra small rooms and exorbitant room rates I was a little apprehensive of the St. Giles hotel. But let me just say that those apprehensions vanished as soon as I walked to towards the front door. The doorman opened the door and greeted me promptly the lobby was quaint but chic. The front […] desk was speedy, courteous and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. You can hear street noise but at least for me it was not a nuisance. I rather found comfort falling asleep to the sounds of the city. I would definitely stay here again in a new york minute. Lees meer

A boutique hotel with everything! We would definitely return.

Our room was a suite, very large and spacious, even for 4 people sharing a room. I would stay here again. Tip: get a room above the second or third floor; the hotel has very loud music saturday night in the lobby area that I can imagine would disrupt sleep one floor above. Our room on the 4th floor was quiet.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The problem that we had with the hotel was that it sounded like the cars and trucks on Lexington Ave. were in our room. It was soooooooo loud. You could also hear the people in the room next door a bit too clearly. Make sure you bring a fan or a phone with a white noise app.

Checked in and was given a suite...bedroom, living room, bath. But the bedroom was on Lexington and very noisy all night long. Got maybe 3 hrs sleep for two nights. Ask for inside room or forget about this place. Rooms are dark...for mood, ambiance, but I like to see that the place is clean. Light is essential these days. Sheets were nice, temperature […] of the room was manageable, but so noisy. No soundproofing in walls or windows. If you have long hair, bring your own hair dryer. I'm in NYC once or twice a month for the past 5 years. Probably would not stay here a second time. Sorry, didn't work for me. Lees meer

I stayed at yhe St. Giles for 3 nights ..have stayed at this location when it was the W, and much newer ..hotel is clean, but shabby looking ..carpets need to be changed, radiator was noisy.. room was close to street - woken up every morning by garbage trucks .. Room card did not work frequently ..my husbamnd came later, and the card I left for him […] did not work several times ..good size rooms for NY, great location , just needs a facelift Lees meer

Having never stayed in NYC I spent a lot of time looking at convenient hotels in my budget. I was not disappointed with the booking. The hotel was very convenient for midtown Manhattan and just a couple of blocks from Grand Central Station. My bedroom was clean and very comfortable and apart from the taxi noise from the street (but to be expected and […] didn't interfere with my sleep!) was extremely well appointed. Great room for 2 adults and our 13 and 15 year old sons. We were able to walk to Times Square, Union Square, Grand Central Station easily. Excellent location. Jr. Suite is 2 full size rooms with comfortable sofa bed. We will stay again.

Was in NYC for one night on business. Found this hotel on hotels.com. Great price, great location, overall terrific hotel. The rooms are extra spacious with two large, VERY comfortable beds in them. Nice amenities in the room. Bathroom was the giveaway that this must have been an apartment building at one point, you know, the industrial type flush handle […] you find in public restrooms! No big deal though, just noticed it! Nice toiletries, pedestal sink which means no place to put stuff but again, not a big deal and certainly not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination! The hotel staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. Didn't get a chance to check out the hotel bar but it was very nice in appearance. Would definitely stay there again. Lees meer

We had a great stay at the St. Giles ... I would recommend it to anyone who needs a place to stay near Murray Hill/Grand Central. I would stay there again.

Amazing staff, very clean, even had a terrace in my room. Great hotel and value. Highly recommended.

Clean, comfortable, easy check in and out. Larger than normal rooms. Good bar and friendly staff. Convenient to all mid-town locations. I would come back again.

WE had a great stay in the Empire Suite, the biggest room I have ever seen in NYC! Beautiful!
