The New Yorker Hotel in New York

Met subwayhalte 34th street/Penn station op nog geen 100 meter afstand, de ideale locatie om New York te ontdekken! Lopend naar het Empire State building, alle faciliteiten in de buurt! Het hotel zelf is groot en goed georganiseerd. De kamer was wat aan de krappe kant, maar prima voor 2 personen voor een week. Elke dag werd er keurig schoongemaakt, […] en toen het lichtknopje kapot ging werd dit zonder te vragen meteen vervangen. Toen de wc niet goed doorliep was ook dit meteen verholpen na vragen bij de balie. Wij zouden de volgende keer weer dit hotel kiezen. Lees meer

Hotel is prima maar is echt en hotel. Geen warm personeel maar de schoonmaker was daarentegen erg vriendelijk. Kregen een upgrade naar de 37e verdieping en die kamer was prima erg ruim, badkamer is klein maar fijn. Zit dichtbij alle locaties die interessant zijn. Jammer dat er voor de metro geen dagkaarten te koop zijn. Nu alleen 7 daagse kaarten ipv […] dagkaart. Maar het gaat hier over het hotel en deze was prima. Ontbijt niet geprobeerd trouwens. New York werd gisteren op de Radio omschreven als meest onvriendelijke stad van de USA en dat sijpelde wel een beetje door hier in het hotel helaas. Inmiddels al enkele keren in dit hotel verbleven. Uitstekende locatie, restaurant (24/7), en kamer. Heel vriendelijk personeel.

Hotel with a lot of history and full off original details. the room we had is classified as "renovated", this was alright for the room although the attached bathroom was rather small , (original size - 1920ies) and "renovated " by painting the tiles. prima hotel, had 1ste nacht een kamer waar wat dingen niet klopte, maar kreeg na melding een betere kamer toegewezen.

Prima hotel op een goede locatie eigenlijk alles op loopafstand. Verder stoppen de bus, metro en trein aan de overkant. Beneden in het hotel zit Tick Tock diner waar je 24 uur per dag kunt eten. Kamers zijn schoon en zien er prima uit. Voor Amerikaanse begrippen zijn de kamers erg klein maar ja wat ben je nou op je kamer wanneer er zoveel te doen is […] in de stad. Alleen de medewerkers van de receptie zijn zeer onvriendelijk eigenlijk geen goed begin voor je aankomst maar tegen alle voordelen mag dit enige minpuntje niet zwaar wegen. Lees meer

Deb ligging van hotel is uitstekend. Nabij belangrijke bezienswaardigheden maar ook op 100m afstand van een grote metro/treinstation (Penn Station). Onze kamer was proper, maar erg klein. Hadden een ander beeld toen we geboekt hebben.

Verschillende hotels in New York gehad, Dit is echt de minste van het stel. Net gerenoveerd, maar dat is in de badkamer niet te zien, vieze plekken op de tegels, in de hoeken en ook kranen, wc deksel e.d. waren gewoon aan vervanging toe. Bovendien was de badkamer gewoon vies, overal haren en het stonk naar een put. De schoonmaaksters maken vanaf 7 uur […] gigantische herrie, praten enorm hard in het Spaans tegen elkaar en dit gaat een lange tijd door. Ook de ligging is niet ideaal, weinig te beleven in de buurt in de avond, zit zelf liever dicht bij Times Square, waar je bovendien veel meer kanten op kan met de metro omdat er meerdere lijnen bij elkaar komen. Ik boek dit hotel nooit meer, voor hetzelfde bedrag kan je gewoon beter krijgen in New York! Lees meer

zeer duur hotel in relatie tot de grootte van de kamer en de geboden faciliteiten. Fraaie art deco lobby die echter zeer rommelige indruk geeft. Tijdens ons verblijf van 5 nachten waren er maar liefst 2 congressen/ symposia die zich met name in lobby en 1e etage afspeelden. Massaal, onpersoonlijk (wat op zich prima is) maar geen gastvrije uitstraling. […] Lijkt wel een beetje een backpacker hotel; ook niets op tegen maar dan wel voor een derde van de prijs. Lees meer

This hotel is excellent. Service was great, friendly people and important sights are at walking distance. Around the corner from Empire State, a few blocks away from Theater row, the Circle line boat tours, many NY bus tours, Times Square etc etc. At 8th avenue so plenty restaurants, deli's, shops, banks and subway stations nearby. Including Port Authority […] bus station and Penn station. Very satisfied about the hotel, my room and it's location. Would recommend and will definitely return there on my next visit. Lees meer

Zeer tevreden. Alles perfect. Bij het inchecken moet je wel 225 dollar borg geven- kan met visa betaald worden- die je daarna terugkrijgt. Cotrole bij het binnenkomen van het hotel gaf een veilig gevoel !

Wij waren zeer tevreden over ons verblijf in het New Yorker hotel. De locatie is top, op wandelafstand van vele attracties o.a. Times Square, Macy's, Madison Square Garden, Empire State, Rockefeller Center, 5 th Avenue en ook de metro is vlakbij. Kleine maar nieuw gerenoveerde kamer in de stijl van het hotel. Sommige receptie-bedienden zijn niet te […] genieten, maar anderen dan weer heel vriendelijk, ook 1 van de bellboys was zeer behulpzaam bij het boeken van onze airport shuttle (zowel Airlink als Super Shuttle bedienen het hotel en zijn een stuk voordeliger dan de shuttle van het hotel zelf - best 24u op voorhand boeken via het net of telefonisch). Ook de Tick-Tock diner bereikbaar via de lobby van het hotel is een aanrader voor het ontbijt. Lees meer

keurige kamer met voldoende ruimte om spullen op te ruimen. Bedkamer is gedateerd, maar heeft wel een goede douche met warm water. Goede bedden.

licht zeer centraal ,goed prijs .

Ben erg tevreden over dit hotel. Kamers waren redelijk luxe en netjes. Het enige wat ontbrak was een minibar en een kluis. Vond het ook erg stil ondanks dat het op straat erg lawaaig is. Oh ja het bed is iets aan de korte kant (1.9 m schat ik) maar door schuin te liggen had ik daar geen last van.

Een keurig en net hotel op een goede locatie op manhattan. Vanuit de metro loop je zo het hotel binnen. het is dan ook goed te doen om vanaf het vliegveld (JFK) met het openbaar vervoer naar je hotel te gaan. Een paar blokken lopen en je bent op broadway en times square en je zit om de hoek bij macy's. goed hotel. terras is niet open voor bezoekers. kamers zijn klein maar voldoen uitstekend. Gewoon goed dus. Centrale ligging maar dat heb je al snel in NY city.

My review is for the Towers rooms. These rooms are small suites and mine had windows looking toward the Empire State Building, it was clean and comfortable, with a small fridge, coffee/tea maker, two lcd tv's and a compact bathroom. Located just a block and a half from Penn station it has a subway entrance around the corner on west 35th street. These […] rooms come with free wifi and continental b/fast in the 39th floor lounge, on weekends you will get a voucher for b/fast at the Tick-Tock diner which is part of the hotel and the b/fasts are substantial. No safes in the rooms (an omission that the hotel should rectify particularly in the Towers rooms) but safety deposit boxes are available at reception and access is quick and easy.The staff were very helpfull and free wifi and luggage storage was provided as I waited in the lobby for my room. This is a large and very busy hotel with people constantly checking in and out. I would certainly use this hotel again when I return to New York. The elevators are a little slow and old but you must remember this is not a modern hotel. The lobby area is quite grand.There is a gym and a Business centre located downststairs from the lobby but I did not use either. Lees meer

We had a great time. My first trip to new York .the hotel was less than a block from penn station so we didn't need a cab and a lot of our sightseeing destinations were in walking distance. I would stay at the new Yorker again.

The hotel is very clean, beds super comfortable.The staff very friendly ,professional and helpful. The food at the diner was excellent as well as the staff.The hotel is conveniently located to all sights of interest.We'll certainly return. Highly recommend it.

The only thing good is its access to the Garden.

The hotel was at a great price, with a small but nice room, friendly staff, very convenient location, subway stop on the corner, several major sites within easy walking distance (High Line, Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden, Times Square, etc.) Lots of good pubs, bars and restaurants nearby too. We stayed for 3 nights in April 2012. Don't booked the Metro Queen room. We opened the door and turned back around. Upgraded on the 2 Double which provided more room. The furniture is somewhat cheap and the decor is dated. Although we did have a view on the Empire St Bldg. The location and price were the selling points. Not a choice for luxury.

When we first walked in the lobby it seemed very old and people were sitting on the floor lobby there should be more chairs, but after the place became quaint and the Tic Toc Restaurant had great food and service . Our room however was very small and no view and no extra blanket for the bed and the tv had no info channel ,very frustrating you have to […] keep turning channels.we found everyone very helpful in the hotel and the police presence outside made us feel very safe, will be back to new York again but probably a newer hotel. I was surprised to find out from someone else. In the hotel that the father of radio and Alternating current and many amazing inventions lived his last 10 years in the New Yorker hotel unbelievable one of his best friends was Einstein there should be a story of Tesla in the main lobby they have a car named after him oh well over it was a nice stay. Just about everything with this hotel is average. There was nothing special or great about the hotel, the rooms or the service we recieved. However, this is New York, and who wants to spend all day in the Hotel when your in this city? The location for sight seeing and travelling was perfect and for that reason the New Yorker was the right choice for […] us. I have no doubt that there are far better hotels but they also come with a much larger price tag. As a young couple on a tight budget we wanted a comfy, pleasant place to sleep that wouldnt cost the earth, and if your in the same situation then I would recommend this hotel. Lees meer

The bathroom is too small; without a surface or area where to place essential toiletries. The wash basin is so tiny, I hit my head with the narrow glass shelf above it while I attempted to wash my face. I had to use the covered toilet as table and stool for my clothes. The bed was quite comfortable and well appointed.

My family and I booked this hotel for a 5 night stay in April. The location here is absolutely perfect. Surrounded by delis, Penn station metro stop literally across the road and a very short walk to Macys and 5th ave. The room itself was quite small, but hey, New York right? The room and bathroom looked as if it had seem better days, but nothing a […] fresh lick or paint won't fix. Having said that, it was kept very clean and that's really all I ask for. Service at the hotel was generally ok, but I found the concerige that was on that day disinterested and not very helpful. She was very impatient when I was asking questions, and I felt like she was talking down to me. A very big let down. Okay hotel otherwise, and I'd probably would stay there again. Lees meer

No hot water on first night of stay, courtesy of a Con Ed error--they cut off the gas supply to the hotel, which disabled the boilers. Not the hotel's fault, but their communication was poor--a simple notice near the elevators would have saved guests time and trouble. Rather noisy at times; thin walls. But for NYC hotel prices its a pretty good value. Blue line subway station just around the corner. 34th street shopping is also around the corner and its a 10 - 15 minute walk to the theater district. Rooms are small as are 90% of NYC hotel rooms. Hotels needs to be renovated. Plus there was no hot water due to a gas line problem which we were never notified of. Rooms and bathrooms are old.

Sometime on the day before our last night, a pipe broke, flooding the hallway; we returned to find an area inside the door sopping wet, a towel laid out. Can't blame the hotel for that...and it wouldn't have caused an inconvenience...but repairs began, I kid you not, at 11:30 pm, with the cordoning of the entire hallway and loud heavy hammering on the […] outside wall. We called to room service and were told that this repair was on-going through the night; there was nothing we could do; but perhaps we'd like a complimentary breakfast? We had to scream to get an alternative room (we were told there were none, then got one), shifted at 1 am, and made it through the rest of the evening. But they seriously thought we should have endured *hammering with tools on the walls of our room at night!!!!* It was as if we ended up being an inconvenience to the hotel. Lees meer

It was a nice hotel with an historical atmosphere and a very convenient location. A little warn around the edges with tiny rooms but pleasant enough and a good breakfast at the Tick Tock Diner

The service at the New Yorker was perfectly affable, location was convenient and the price was ok for NY .... But the room was the size of a dorm room closet and was about as clean. Checked out of here and for less money stayed at the Cassa Hotel which was fantastic! Stay away from this place at all costs

A nice hotel, especially for the price. Walked everywhere from here and loved it, you could use the tube but if you're for enough them walk - you see so much more. Got a nice twin aspect room looking over the Hudson and some side streets. Small room but I'd imagine that's standard for this city. Bathroom ok although the shower couldn't make it's mind […] up if it wanted to be hot or cold! Hotel at first looks a bit run down however this shouldn't have any pact on your stay. Just remember that of you want perfection in your hotel, you need to go up town and pay more than twice as much. It is what it is and it's good at it...I'd thoroughly recommend it and would away here again. Lees meer

I took my three boys to new yourk and we had a blast. the hotel was very nice but showers need updating and the elevators are very noisy

Great location to subway, walking distance to many attractions. Very easy getting to/from the Lincoln Tunnel.
