In eerste instantie kregen we een kamer voor rokers, terwijl we duidelijk niet roken hadden aangegeven bij boeking.Dit werd gelukkig omgeruild, alleen de receptioniste deed wel overkomen alsof het lastig ging. Wij werden vriendelijk te woord gestaan. Hotel is in goede staat. Schone kamer. Jammer van de Happy hour, men was niet helemaal op de hoogte van wat de bedoeling was en niet alles was te bestellen.

Nice, clean hotel. Free garage parking (subject to availability). 6 euro bus fare to airport takes 40-45 minutes. #12 bus stop is a left outside hotel, then left at the next street, then right at the next major intersection. About a 5 minute walk.

The room was nice, clean and comfortable, however one of the lifts didnt work properly, there was no room service as the chef was not there at the weekend. There was no bar as the bar manager had resigned. No free tea/coffee in the room. The location was a bit out of the way but a tax journey of about 15 euros got you into the centre

Finding the building was straightforward - there's a red rose motif at the top if you are in any doubt - and we were able to park out the front for a little while to unpack. There are several car parks nearby which operate 24 hours which suited us fine. Described as a 'hotel', I would say ‘guest-house’ is more accurate - you feel like you are walking […] through someone's house - personal belongings, books and photos decorate the entrance and hall ways; none of your 'identikit' hotel makeover here. We stayed in the 'yellow room’, which was plain but tastefully decorated, with a separate but private bathroom. Both rooms were pretty large, our bedroom easily fitted a travel cot and the bathroom featured a separate shower cubicle and bath. The bed was quite firm – not to everyone’s taste but we both had a great nights sleep on it. Breakfast was unavailable at the time we stayed but we were given lots of great suggestions for where to look for the best Bruges breakfasts – all a stones throw. Although the hotel is not remarkable in itself, the friendliness and helpfulness of the proprietor and staff – Hans and Marianne – made us feel very welcome and safe, and the Hotel De La Rose will certainly be on the top of the list next time we decide to visit Bruges. I stayed here a few weeks earlier as well. It has a slightly faded air and some of the fittings need renewing. There's no convenient socket on the desk for your laptop and the WiFi is slow. Room was very clean and the rooms at the back (e.g those ending in 6 7 and 8) are especially quiet. The only advantage is that it's near EU Offices snd Schumann. metro.. Otherwise nothing close. Rooms are average. Even a tea kettle is not there. Imagine ordering bed tea through room service and takes quite a while . Oops. Not my cup of tea . Highly onto recommended

The great advantage is that it is a few minutes walk from the EC Schuman and Charlemagne buildings if you have business there. Another advantage is that there are lots of restaurants of all kinds nearby. However the hotel itself is old and, though very clean, it shows signs of wear with the fixtures and fittings. Eclectic distressed wooden furniture with a reasonable space for a laptop (though no socket at desk level) plus WiFi (free but not very fast). Pro's: the breakfast is very good, plenty of continental items along with eggs/bacon/sausage. They have recently refurbished the bar/reception area which looks very minimalist & smart. Pillow chocolates on arrival was a very nice touch. The shower was really good & powerful, a must in my book! Free Wi-Fi is also available. Con's: If you're a light sleeper […] there's a lot of traffic & the noise that goes with that so maybe ask for a room facing the back. My biggest disappointment though was the cost of room vs style of it. I stayed on the 2nd floor & the room looked NOTHING like the ones they show on their website (as well as on the Ipad in reception, my colleague had a room like that which is why I know they exist) - either their refurbishment plan isn't finished yet or it was the floor/room that they forgot! Old fashioned bed/decor/bathroom which is SO not in line with what they charge & show with their images...does not make me want to go back unless I got one of the new rooms or would happily try out one of the many hotels in this area. Forced to stay at this hotel as others booked up in the area. I had heard bad reports from colleagues and they were right. Rude service, no telephone in room, minibar empty, wifi not working and in spite of price saying "includes taxes" they insisted on charging me an extra 11 Euros.

The front desk staff was very friendly & helpful... close to the subway... although they do NOT have an airport shuttle like they say in the description... you have to take a bus for 3.50 euros. But overall a great place to stay!

The hotel has a very good location if you want to be close to the EU quarters. It is easy to get there via bus or subway, the room was clean, in good condition, rather big and reasonably priced. First time in this hotel although I always stay in this part of town. It was a freezing night and I was looking forward to a warm room. It wasn't to be! Alarms bells rang when guests were complaining at check in that they needed heaters in their room. Arrived at mine and it was lukewarm, with ice on the inside windows behind the curtains. City tax not included in the hotel rate so you get a surprise when you check out. When ckecking in (2 pm) and out (12 am) there is a huge line of people waiting because there is only one person working at the reception.

The hotel is trying to be top class, but it is not. Internet only works sometimes and if you sit at the desk without heavy curtains closed and a thick jacket on, the wind coming through the closed windows will make you sick.

We have stayed for 2 nights in the New Hotel Charlemagne and it was really bad experience. Reception staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. Plus uncleaned freezer in the room with pieces of food from previous guests.

This hotel is by far the lovliest hotel I have stayed at on my trip, and with competitive prices. It was a little walk out of the city centre, but It was worth it for the comfort, cleanlieness and safety of the surrounding neightborhood, easy to get to the nearest metro station, gettng to and from the hotel is easy. =)

At the weekend, the area the hotel is placed is not at all lively because it is the EU quarter. However, it is easier to enjoy the fantastic art nouveau architecture of Square Ambiorix and Palmerston. It is easy to reach Avenue Louise and the Grand-Place by metro, so the location is not a problem if you want somewhere quiet. This is an awful hotel, the word new in the name is a little deceiving, I am guessing it was new in 1970. The rooms and bathrooms are awful, cramped, musty, really several decades since they were last decorated, bathrooms are really bad. Older hotel, nicely upgraded. Two minor complaints--door was very hard to unlock, needing a "sagfe-crackers" touch andour "double" bed consisted of two twins pushed together. Didn't try the food as it seemed high for hotel food. Overall, given the in-city location with the very convenient metro nearby it is worth the price.
