Het hotel ligt midden in het uitgaansgebied; veel restaurants in de omgeving en ook de winkelstraat is om de hoek. De bediening is gastvrij en zeer vriendelijk. Het ontbijt is echter simpel, maar dat schijnt in Amerika normaal te zijn. Kortom: als je op zoek bent naar een centraal gelegen hotel met alle gewenste voorzieningen in de buurt en ruime kamers, dan ben je bij Gaslamp Plaza suites op het juiste adres!

Het hotel ligt in de zogenoemde hotel circle, een een groep van meerdere hotels rondom een snelweg die door de stad loopt. Het hotel was goed geprijst en zeer schoon en netjes, wat dat betreft een grote aanrader. Met een (klein) zwembad, spa en fitness al met al zeer comfortabel en een goedkoop alternatief voor de dure hotels op centralere plekken. Nadeel is wel dat je niet naar de stad kan lopen en altijd met een bus of auto moet, en zoals gezegd niet op een romantische locatie. Bus/metrostation is wel in de buurt op circa 10 minuten lopen, halte fashion valley (groot winkelcentrum). Personeel zeer vriendelijk, ook mogelijkheid om auto te huren (verhuurder zit in het hotel).

Hotel op zich was ok, maar de buurt was vreselijk (tenzij je van wirwars van snelwegen, autogarages, drankhandels en sexshops houdt). Vlakbij is het oude San Diego (samen met het nabije vliegveld de reden om hier te gaan zitten, de avond voorafgaand aan mijn vliegreis terug naar Nederland), dat is op zich aardig, hoewel Valkenburgachtig.
Ligging.
Humphreys Half Moon Inn & Suites ligt heel handig vlak bij de luchthaven in Beach Cities in San Diego, dicht bij NTC Promenade, Marinerekrutendepot en Marinebasis Coronado.
Hotelvoorzieningen.
Humphreys Half Moon Inn & Suites heeft een jachthaven, een buitenzwembad en een fitnesscentrum. De zakelijke voorzieningen bij deze 3,5-sterrenaccommodatie zijn onder andere een businesscentrum, vergaderruimtes voor kleine groepen en vergaderruimtes. Dit hotel met een spa biedt diverse eetgelegenheden, zoals een restaurant, een zwembadbar en een bar/lounge. Het personeel kan op verzoek een huwelijksservice, een cateringdienst voor evenementen en hulp bij excursies regelen. Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een nachtclub, een spa en een conciërgebalie. Parkeerruimte is tegen betaling beschikbaar, maar beperkt.
Hotelkamers.
Humphreys Half Moon Inn & Suites heeft 182 kamers met airconditioning die zijn voorzien van een kluis en een koffiezetapparaat/waterkoker. Gasten hebben een gratis draadloze internetverbinding op de kamer. Elke televisie heeft premiumkanalen via kabel/satelliet, een videogameconsole en een internetverbinding via tv (toeslag). Elke accommodatie biedt een bureau en een gratis weekkrant. Elke badkamer is voorzien van een föhn en gratis toiletartikelen.
Elke kamer is voorzien van een magnetron en een koelkast. Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een strijkplank/strijkijzer en openslaande ramen. Bovendien kun je op verzoek gebruikmaken van voorzieningen zoals massagebehandelingen op de kamer en een telefonische wekdienst. Een huishoudservice is dagelijks beschikbaar.
Afhankelijk van het hotelbeleid kan voor extra personen een toeslag worden aangerekend.
Bij het inchecken dien je in het geval van incidentele kosten een erkend identiteitsbewijs en een creditcard voor te leggen.

Bij warm weer is het enorm druk in het water bij Mission Beach en Pacific Beach, twee van de populairste stranden van San Diego. Op deze relaxte plekken worden af en toe boerenmarkten en kunstfestivals georganiseerd. Mission Boulevard verbindt de stranden met elkaar en loopt noordwaarts, richting La Jolla.

We hadden een kamer met uitzicht op de tropische tuin, prachtig. Kamer van alle gemakken voorzien. Wel veel problemen gehad bij het inchecken: men vroeg om onze creditcard als borg voor eventuele uitgaven die wij tijdens ons verblijf zouden maken. Onze card werkte echter niet en dat werd als een (abnormaal) groot probleem gezien; ondanks dat wij aanboden […] om tot 500 dollar cash te 'betalen'; men wilde ons zelfs in 1e instantie als gast weigeren, terwijl het hotel natuurlijk al via hotels.com betaald was. Zeer onaangenaam en men ging pas meewerken nadat we erg hebben opgespeeld; uiteindelijk 100 dollar borg betaald. Geen leuk begin van een verder overigens prima verblijf daar. Lees meer

My wife and I stayed one night and were satisfied with this Hotel. Good location to the area marina's, downtown, and Coronado. We would stay here again.

Location was very nice. Hotel could use some remodeling. Bathroom was nice. Living area was ok. Bed was comfortable. Pool area was nice and it was heated. Parking was free. We got a downstairs room on what was probably the older buildings. The room smelled like cleaning fluids and we had to air it out for a few hours. We recommend upgrading the air […] conditioning system since it was very loud even at the lowest fan setting and I don't know what was controlling the temperature because it was inconsistent. The property is outdated but well maintained. The personnel at the front desk were extremely helpful and went way out of their way when my wife suffered a major medical challenge. The location is excellent.
"Three Adults"
The room was better than I expected however, the problem with most hotels that I have stayed at is even when you inform them that three adults will be staying, they only have the room with amenities set up for two persons.
"nice for a quick stay"
We were going for a quick overnight stay in San Diego and decided on this hotel based on other ratings and the price. It was easy to find and when we arrived, because there was a rather extended wait time to check in, the receptionist gave us free parking and a room upgrade. The room itself was pretty nice. It's clear that "recently renovated" means […] that the room was redecorated, but not stripped to the bones and redone. We didn't spend much time at the hotel because we were in San Diego for such a short time, so I can't speak to the grounds, but overall it's got a fun tiki-ish style and basically does the job. inside of room was satisfactory door was hard to open as it would rub on the carpet. exterior of the building is dilapidated. the stairs are deteriorated wood as most of the exterior finish. my view of the pool equipment was less that desireable.

Room was nice. Balcony had caution tape from broken boards. Had the blinds open all night and was embarrassed to be woken up in the morning by workers repairing boards on balcony. I was sleeping on the couch with no clothes so that was really awkward, embarrassing and bad. If the hotel would have earned me that men would be on the balcony in the morning […] I could have been prepared for that. Lees meer

Had a wonderful stay at Humphrey's! As others have mentioned, having a vehicle is important if you are staying on Shelter Island since there are only a few restaurants within walking distance. And of course parking is an additional $10 per night. Our room was recently re-done and was beautiful. They were doing work on the building next to us but we […] didn't hear them at all. Great music and happy hour specials in the lounge, and the food in the hotel restaurant was very good (though a little pricey and upscale for us to eat there every night). Overall very nice and basically what I expected from the other reviews here. Would stay here again! Lees meer

My sister and I took our elderly dad to San Diego for a vacation. We were very impressed with the Humphrey's and of all the hotels we stayed in that week this one was the best. We had a view of the marina and a large suite. Definitely will come back. Thanks for the memories.

Outside of downtown enough to not feel like you are in a big city. Great resort like feel to vacation with the family and do the San Diego sites. Definately reques the remodeled rooms for your stay.

We recently took our son and family to San Diego for a quick trip. Humphrey's Grand Marina Suite was HUGE, and the views were spectacular. Staff was super accomodating and I would love to go back for a longer stay. Great location near lots of yummy restaurants and places of interest. :)

Very disappointed in the condition of the room. It was dark, drab and felt dusty and old. Not a good value for the price. I would not stay there again.

Easy access from this hotel to all attractions. Beds were very comfortable. Room was adequate. They do charge $10 a day for parking which they removed from my bill. It's a hike from parking lot to rooms.

I was overall very pleased with my experience at Humpreys. The room was ice, comfortable and the staff was more than nice, they were GREAT. My only complaint was the hallway and the lack of security in the hallways. The hallway doorways were propped open and not secure at all. (I close them each night). I will need to think twice about staying there just because our neighbor was up about 6:00 a.m. and you could hear the kids playing unable to sleep in. Also our room was a distances from our car. It's a beautiful place.But two mornings of that was not a vacation.

Loved this inn. A little off the beaten path but tucked in just enough to feel like you were in your own private spot. Everyone was helpful, pleasant and tentative. Would love to return!

My stay at Humphreys has been far the greatest vacation ever!!. I loved Humphreys hotel I couldnt have had chosen a better place to stay at. The hotel is surrounded with lots of byautiful palm trees and green plant as well as ponds and water falls. It has a wonderful pool and spa with amazing views. Thers a bay right behind the hotel and another across […] the street. Our room made me feel like I was home with wall paintings and I loved its CLEANLINESS!!.. "Nice place, out of the hustle and bustle"
This is a nice place with an outdoor pool, gym, lush walkways. Rooms are a bit dated with thin walls, windows high up so you don't see much of a view, there really isn't much of a beach nearby. Also, parking charges were hard to find out about beforehand and ended up costing $10 per day. Parking at night can be hard to find even behind the gate. Neighborhood […] is nice with a park nearby. When I booked the room I told them that we were celebrating our 31st anniversary, which I was told there would be some sort of congratulations waiting for us. But upon arrival there was nothing said and when I told the clerk, there was not even a verbal congratulation.
