Strathcona Hotel in Toronto

Ligt redelijk centraal doch niet in de buurt van shopping centrum. Voor de rest normaal hotel. Niets bijzonders

Prima hotel in overeenstemming met de sterren. Wel heb ik 2 van de 3 nachten wakker gelegen. De eerste avond was de gang verhuurd aan dronken tieners die luit schreeuwend over de gang renden midden in de nacht en op deuren begonnen te bonken. De tweede nacht hadden een aantal mensen muziek aan gezet met het volume op vol en met veel geschreeuw. In beide […] gevallen ben ik niet gaan klagen, ik schatte in dat dit weinig zin zou hebben. Het hotel is schoon, netjes en de lokatie is perfect! de kamers zijn inderdaad wat klein, dus als je van plan bent veel tijd op je kamer door te brengen is het misschien niet zo geschikt. Als je net als ik alleen in het hotel bent om te slapen is het ideaal.

aan straatzijde te veel herrie. Ramen dicht en airco aan. Benauwd derhalve. Geen bijzonder hotel.Volgende keer in een moderner hotel als een oud ding, en dat is het, toch niet veel voorstelt.

Everything about this hotel was good except for the noise coming into my room from the street. My room was on the 7th floor facing York Street. As a very active street, I'm suprised that the hotel had made no attempt at noise prevention. Unfortunately this was so noisy that I had a terrible nights sleep. The hotel is well maintained and run and was most convenient and satisfactory for having a place to stay in Toronto. It is not a new hotel, but is kept clean, has friendly staff. I would recommend this hotel it is great value for the money.

Room was nice and clean but I did not care for the soap and shampoo dispensers in the bathroom. Restaurant bistro's breakfast was fantastic. Great location and within walking distance to lots of great restaurants and nightlife. The only thing we had a problem with was no hotel parking. ACC is close by so on game night there was no parking to be had […] for blocks and blocks. Ended up circling the hotel and then parking far away. About a 10 minute walk. Overall, It was quite nice. Great location in between the Financial and Entertainment districts. There is no need for a car from this location, because everything is within walking distance. You can see the Hockey Hall of Fame, CN Tower and The Air Canada Centre by walking a few blocks. The Toronto PATH has entrances that are a block or two away depending on what way you plan […] on heading. Only downfall of my stay (January 2012) was they are currently in the midst of some renovations, which were not distracting or obvious to guests other than only one working elevator. The rooms are on the small side, but clean and beautifully furnished. They are perfect for a visit to a wonderful city like Toronto since the majority of your time should be spent on the streets and sights around the city. Lees meer

conveniently situated close to all transport connections - train / airport shuttlebus. Twenty steps (big ones mind you) to the underground footpath system which kept us entertained for hours.

The location is fine if you travel by train or on foot. Not good if you drive to the city. NO Parking at hotel. The beds were very uncomfortable as well. The walls are too thin, you hear everything. Even other guests walking around on your head. I did not get any sleep at this hotel. The rates were good and the people very friendly.

The hotel was in a fantastic location, 5 mins from cn tower and air canada centre, staff were very helpful and rooms were clean and laundry changed regularly. I booked an executive room and was not allowed to check in as i did not have a credit card for deposit, so i got moved to a standard room as this is the only room in Which you can leave a cash […] deposit! After 4 days of speaking with staff i eventually got the room i paid for! 2 nights instead of 6! But all in all it is a nice hotel, just make sure you have a credit card. Lees meer

We were greeted well, check in was fast and easy and we found the appearance very pleasing. When we entered our room it was very clean and renovated well, but from what was advertsed as our room we found it very small and at night we could hear the neighbours through the walls. The pillows were very comfortable but the beds were not. I woke up with […] a sore back and having to write the nursing exam the next day on 4 hours sleep, because of being uncomfortable, was not fun. The room was comfortable and clean but very small. If we were staying more than one night then I would have asked for another room. The staff were indifferent to us. We are a young couple and felt like we didn't matter. The hotel night was given to us as a Christmas gift as we went to the hockey game at the ACC. It was the first time that any of the […] family stayed at the Strathcona Hotel and for the customer service we received, we might look around some more next time an event comes up that we need to spend the night in Toronto. Location of this hotel is amazing however the rooms are very very small. Two single beds per room and no space to move around. If you are staying with more than 1 person be prepared to be getting in each others way, while getting dressed, showering or doing any type of routine activity.

Had a room on the 2nd floor on York street but since it is downtown Toronto, there is not much noise once everybody is gone home. The room was perfect, only issue was that the heating had not been turned on when I arrived in the room and it was minus 25C outside. It was really cold in the room and it took a while to warm up even if it was not that big. […] But it was perfect if you work late downtown. Lees meer

Good value great location to explore downown Toronto

Friendly reception as well as concierge. Clean room. Good Location. The only set back was the ventilation/heating system. Radiator made lots of noise. The heater/air conditioner was not able to maintain the room at a stable temperature. Temperature went from extremely cool to warm. Very uncomfortable.

The hotel was a delightful surprise! They are remodeling the rooms and we stayed on a floor that had been done. Spacious room, furniture is danish modern, wood floors, bed very comfortable, great closet space. Bathroom had a tub and shower. Staff friendly and helpful. No doorman or on site parking so no tipping for those services. There were several […] parking garages nearby and the frontdesk recommended the one that was least expensive and secure! This hotel was perfect for my trip - the room was clean and a great price. It wasn't luxury, but it wasn't bargain basement bare-bones either. It was a decorated very tastefully and was CLEAN, which is really important to me. Also - the hotel is non-smoking. Great location downtown, no parking but plenty of parking options all nearby. This hotel is close to everything: Union station is only 5 minutes walk, Eaton's centre is also walking distance. The staff is very helpful and the room is very clean.

The hotel was really nice, very clean and excellent location. What is needed is a hook up with a close parking lot for out of town visitors who do drive into Toronto.

Really enjoyed my stay here - the staff were extremely friendly and the room had everything I needed. Highly recommended.

I've stayed at the Strathcona twice now, for 3 nights. I have always stayed in the Executive rooms, as the others would be far too small. Rooms are not large, but are clean and well maintained. Beds are comfortable. However, the sounds of the street are almost overwhelming even into the night. My last stay I requested a room at the back side, off of […] York, and the sounds of the street still woke me up. Quite a lot of light also comes into the room from the hallway from around the door. My coworker actually had to stuff towels around her door to try to minimize the light infiltration. However, it has a great location, and if you can get a deal on the rate, is a reasonable price as well. I'd stay again, but next time will bring ear plugs and an eye mask. Lees meer

Great near train station and gym facilities excellent! Referred by hotel, great customer service helpful! The rooms however are little too small.

We enjoyed our stay at your hotel. The room was small but nice and clean. We slepted good with no noise or desturbance. The only problem I had was the misunderstanding I had about the $47.67 that I was charged for, but when I got your e-mail explaining the charges I understood and was ok with it knowing I was getting it back. Great location and sufficient quaint rooms. I totally felt like I was in Europe!

The Strathona's website describes this hotel as: newly renovated in 2010, trendy rooms, contemporary furnishings, comfortable 9 in mattresses, desk in every room. There are many pictures of nice, clean and spacious rooms. We totally disagree with this advertisement: our room was very small, with old furniture, carpeting and bathroom. Two narrow and […] uncomfortable beds, no desk, only this sorry corner shelf under the TV set, the heating unit was very loud and impossible to set at the right temp.- either too hot, or cold. We have learned that only 3 top floors were newly renovated. This should be clearly stated and some "real" pictures included to warn the potential guests what they can expect. It was so bad, that we had to cancel 3 of the 4 nights we have booked, and moved to different hotel. Lees meer

We checked in and were offered an upgrade which was not actually available that night. The room originally assigned to us was being used by other people-(a maintenance crew?) It smelled strongly of paint/bleach perhaps. The bed was unmade when we arrived. The rooms are tiny with laminate flooring. Easy to maintain but noisy. We could hear fellow guests […] walking in the rooms around us. The bedside tables have built in lights which cannot be controlled individually. A small point, but important when your partner likes to read at night and you may not. One small office chair does not really even allow two people in a queen room to have a drink or a snack together without sitting on the bed. Overall I felt we were charged too much for very little comfort. I would not go back to the Strathcona, nor would I ever recommend it. My partner and I both feel the hotel should be promoted strictly as a budget hotel in a great location. Lees meer

The location of this hotel is fantastic...close to Union Station so access to trains and subway is very easy. Other attractions close by - CN Tower, Rogers Centre, Eaton Centre etc. Visiting with my sister -in- law so we had a twin room. Very clean, beds and pillows comfortable. Room a bit on the small side. Would not want lots of luggage in room. We […] stayed on the second floor and some noise at night time (bins being collected, usually around 4.30am!). Otherwise very happy with room. Tip: we discovered there is 15miles of underground shops....which is very handy when weather is bad. This can be accessed via Union Station or Royal York Hotel which is opposite the Strathcona. Finally we took bus from airport to Strathcona Hotel which was very convenient...on time and very reasonable. Book on line before you go and you get an extra discount. 70 dollars return for both of us. Much cheaper than a limo which costs at least 60 dollars one way ! Would definitely go back to this hotel and recommend it to visitors travelling to Toronto. Lees meer

The only complaint I had is the size of myroom - barely enough room for two single beds, no real desk. However it had updated decorating and was well maintained. Just small. I am sure not all the rooms are as small as the one I had.

Small room but very comfortable. Spa next door was a great experience. Great location. Temperature and air controls work great. Only minor thing was had to go down one floor to obtain ice and vending machines.
