We hadden een kamer met uitzicht op de tropische tuin, prachtig. Kamer van alle gemakken voorzien. Wel veel problemen gehad bij het inchecken: men vroeg om onze creditcard als borg voor eventuele uitgaven die wij tijdens ons verblijf zouden maken. Onze card werkte echter niet en dat werd als een (abnormaal) groot probleem gezien; ondanks dat wij aanboden om tot 500 dollar cash te 'betalen'; men wilde ons zelfs in 1e instantie als gast weigeren, terwijl het hotel natuurlijk al via hotels.com betaald was. Zeer onaangenaam en men ging pas meewerken nadat we erg hebben opgespeeld; uiteindelijk 100 dollar borg betaald. Geen leuk begin van een verder overigens prima verblijf daar.

Prima locatie om van daaruit San Diego te ontdekken. Naar o.a. de Zoo, het Balbaopark en ophaaladres van huurauto gebracht en opgehaald met shuttledienst van het hotel, ideaal. Schone kamer, van alle gemakken voorzien. Redelijk ontbijt met plastic bordjes en bestek.

Heerlijk hotel, niet ver van Sea World, San Diego Zoo, uss Midway, Gaslamp, Old Town en het strand. Allemaal binnen acceptabele tijd per auto te bereiken. Super mooi hotel met ruime kamers. Het is wel een gehorig hotel, wat vooral in het weekend lawaai met zich mee bracht van buren. Door de weeks was de marine aan de overkant van het water met trainingen bezig. Dit vonden wij niet heel storend, maar het geluid is er wel. Verder zit ontbijt er niet bij in en is heel duur als je dat nog bij wilt nemen. Dat is echt een minpunt. Als je dit hotel boekt, hou er rekening mee dat het twee locaties zijn. Wij zaten in de tower en het 'grotere gebeuren' was verder op. We hadden wel een lobby, servicebalie, restaurant en verwarmd zwembad, dus dat is prima voor elkaar. De starbucks en de grote lobby van de foto's zit in het andere gedeelte. De kamers zijn echt super ruim! We hadden een ruim zitgedeelte en eettafel erbij, en dat voor een gewone kamer. Uitzicht op zee was erg mooi.

Het hotel ligt in de zogenoemde hotel circle, een een groep van meerdere hotels rondom een snelweg die door de stad loopt. Het hotel was goed geprijst en zeer schoon en netjes, wat dat betreft een grote aanrader. Met een (klein) zwembad, spa en fitness al met al zeer comfortabel en een goedkoop alternatief voor de dure hotels op centralere plekken. Nadeel is wel dat je niet naar de stad kan lopen en altijd met een bus of auto moet, en zoals gezegd niet op een romantische locatie. Bus/metrostation is wel in de buurt op circa 10 minuten lopen, halte fashion valley (groot winkelcentrum). Personeel zeer vriendelijk, ook mogelijkheid om auto te huren (verhuurder zit in het hotel).
Ligging.
Bristol Hotel ligt heel handig vlak bij de luchthaven in het hartje van San Diego, dicht bij Opera van San Diego, Maritiem museum van San Diego en Vliegdekschipmuseum. In de buurt liggen ook Dierentuin van San Diego en San Diego Convention Center.
Hotelvoorzieningen.
Bristol Hotel heeft een healthclub en een fitnesscentrum. Draadloos internet is gratis beschikbaar in openbare ruimtes. De zakelijke voorzieningen bij deze 3,5-sterrenaccommodatie zijn onder andere een businesscentrum, vergaderruimtes en secretariële diensten. Dit hotel met een groen/duurzaam beleid biedt diverse eetgelegenheden, zoals een restaurant en een bar/lounge. Het personeel kan op verzoek een conciërgeservice, hulp bij excursies/tickets en een huwelijksservice regelen. Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere meertalig personeel, een wasserij en gratis kranten in de lobby. Parkeerruimte is tegen betaling beschikbaar, maar beperkt. Dit is een rookvrije accommodatie. De volledige renovatie van deze accommodatie werd in juni 2008 voltooid.
Hotelkamers.
Bristol Hotel heeft 102 kamers met airconditioning die zijn voorzien van MP3-dockingstations en een cd-speler. Een draadloze snelle internetverbinding is gratis beschikbaar. Elke kamer heeft een flatscreen televisie met premiumkanalen via de kabel en een videospeler. Elke kamer beschikt over een bureau, een (laptop)kluis en een telefoon met directe buitenlijn met voicemail. Elke badkamer is voorzien van een bad/douchecombinatie, badjassen, designer toiletartikelen en make-up/scheerspiegels.
Elke kamer heeft een minibar en een koffiezetapparaat/waterkoker. Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een kluis en een gratis krant. Bovendien kun je op verzoek gebruikmaken van voorzieningen zoals een turndownservice, hypoallergeen beddengoed en extra handdoeken/beddengoed. Een huishoudservice is dagelijks beschikbaar. Op de kamers van Bristol Hotel mag niet worden gerookt.
Afhankelijk van het hotelbeleid kan voor extra personen een toeslag worden aangerekend.
Bij het inchecken dien je in het geval van incidentele kosten een erkend identiteitsbewijs en een borgsom in contanten of creditcard voor te leggen.

De luchthaven van San Diego ligt vlak bij het water en ten noordwesten van het centrum. Je vindt bij de luchthaven het Diego Convention Center, het PetCo Park-stadion en de Gaslamp Quarter's. De restaurants en bars van deze wijk zijn het middelpunt van het nachtleven van de stad. Balboa Park en de San Diego Zoo zijn de groene strook van deze stedelijke jungle. Op Coronado Island heb je een prachtig uitzicht op de skyline van de stad.

I was a last minute attendee at a conference being held at the San Diego Convention Center on the waterfront. All of the hotels next to the convention center were booked up and, in hindsight, this turned out to be helpful. The Bristol was clean, well maintained, had free WiFi Internet access and was within a comfortable walking distance to the Gas Lamp […] District and the convention center. I found the 15 minute walk to and from the center in the evening a good way to get some exercise and stretch after the all day (and most of the evening) convention activities. I can't comment on the hotel service as I had little interaction. Although when I found out I forgot my razor at 06.00, I called housekeeping and within 5 minutes a shaving kit was at my door. So for a very reasonable rate I was able to get 4+ or 5 star service in my mind and what looked like a recently rennovated and redecorated room. I'd highly recommend the Bristol if you are planning a business trip to San Diego and need to be in a central location. Lees meer

"Great Hotel. Good Breakfast"
Very clean, trendy, comfortable hotel. Rooms were nice, service was great. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was excellent. Can't complain about my experience here. Be aware of nightly valet parking fee.

The guy at the counter when we checked in.... was awesome. The hotel looked awesome inside...the lobby and restaurant. The room had some obviously cheap, but creative work done to it...but it still looked good. Overall awesome.

"The Bristol Hotel is weathered and tired."
The bathrooms are old and dingy and the hotel as a whole has a very weathered feel. The people that work there are as nice as can be, but I didn't like the general atmosphere.

"clean modern hotel with an affordable price."
good location , walking distance to a mall and bunch of restaurants. Watch out for beggars though. Valet parking was like 26$ a day cheaper than other hotel valet. If you want cheap parking you could find a garage around the corner for $5 per in and out.
"Boutique hotel, walking distance to Convntn Ctr."
The Bristol was lovely; it was much more budget friendly than the big ones and had a beautiful lobby. I didn't eat or drink there but the discount coupons were a nice touch. The staff was helpful and very polite. The room was big and the window was huge! Plus, you could open them for air, which I always prefer. I loved the thread count of the sheets. […] Bathroom was spotless and there were two robes and plenty of towels. It was a business trip so I needed to be close to the convention center and the hotels around it for meetings and the walk was very short. Also very short walk to the Gaslamp district for restaurants and shopping. My only 'negatives' are very small: the staff directs you to things only two blocks away when you say 'within walking distance', the bathroom had no fan and the tub was a very slow drain, so it filled up during a shower. But as I said, those are small and I would stay there again. Oh, there is some noise if you are facing the street so light sleepers should request not to. Lees meer
Large comfortable rooms, updated and well cared for by a pleasant and helpful staff. Three blocks to Gaslamp District, one block to Trolly stop and four blocks to waterfront - a good location.

Besides being a very comfortable & stylish hotel, the warm, gracious customer service offered to me was well above average. Every single employee I interacted with was smiling & sincerely concerned with my comfort. I travel non-stop & this hotel will be remembered for all the right reasons!
We were in town to attend the Opera. The Bristol is one block away from the Opera House. From the hotel it is an easy walk to the waterfront and the Gas Lamp district The Bristol reminded us of the boutique hotels we have stayed at in Europe, we were completely satisfied.

"Bristol Hotel San Diego: Pretty much all good"
Nice room; good ammenities, comfortable bed, and clean. Good Bar/Bistro on site with decent Happy Hour prices, selection and quality of food. Not crazy about the Valet only parking at $26/night, but apparently (according to hotel staff) that's lower than the going rate for downtown San Diego hotels. Otherwise, no complaints.

"THe Hotel in San Diego in the middle of the city"
We travelled around the world and this hotel was reseanable price the onlt thing that was outstanding for me was free internet you could use skpe like you was at home where most hotels have charges and none had free download. Would recommed anytime..

"good but not great in SD's gas lamp quarters"
Air, bed, towels, carpet and room size were excellent. Facilities and operations are uneven, some elements being well above average and others are well below. What did not helped was the condition of the bath: a small L-shape fiberglass bath tub with second life paint chipping and with spots of candle wax and greasy surface... I could also distinctly […] follow my neighbor's cell phone conversation. The hotel's menu was not particularly inspiring so I went to the Sophia for dinner and to the Westin for breakfast which were both great choices. Lees meer
"Great Stay!"
I loved our room! The bed and pillows were sooo comfy! It was modern and simply beautiful. The staff was very friendly. The location was decent...there were quite a few bums around the area and we heard a lot of sirens as the night went by. The bathroom was also kind of small and there is no vent in there. Hotel was located close to the area we wanted and was very reasonably priced. The rooms were old but clean and comfortable. Unfortunately there is a Greyhound bus station across the road and a train track very close by so it was a bit noisy. The staff were very helpful.

This hotel is within walking or driving distance to the popular spots in San Diego, the only downside of this hotel is the high price to valet park at $26 per night (no exceptions) unless you want to park down the street at a public parking structure at $15-$18/ night and the noise from downtown, sirens, people screaming, etc.
"The Bristol Hotel-Good for Couples"
Two friends and I stayed at The Bristol, and we were disappointed to find two double beds (instead of two queens,) however did note the small room size would've made it difficult to fit two queens. The beds were comfortable, regardless, we were just a bit cramped in the room overall. I imagine if you had a king-room with two people it would be just […] the right size. When we attempted to engage the front desk to reserve us a table at a local restaurant, they did not do so, rather provided recommendations and sent us on our way. Given we did not have phone numbers, etc., and all the front desk staff advised they were "conceirge," we anticipated they would be a bit more accommodating to that tyle of request, and actually call the restaurant for us. Overall a decent experience, the accommodations were okay for a boutique hotel and were clean and charming. I'd recommend staying there, but not as a group larger than two, otherwise reserve multiple rooms. Lees meer

"Great FInd!"
Our stay at this hotel was a dream. The service was immaculate and the quality of the room we stayed in was outstanding. Everything was very clean and comfortable and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Can't wait to stay here again. The only negative would be the parking fees (which are similar across the city). Great hotel overall.
"Easy Access to Gaslamp & Local Tansportation"
The hotel was very close to the Gaslamp District for eating and shopping! I also attend a conference at the convention center and the San Diego Trolley went right by the hotel to the convention center. The hotels beds are "awesome"!
"Lovely Hotel & Staff"
I stayed at The Bristol for the tail-end of a business trip. Hotel was clean, rooms spacious, close to Horton Plaza and other amenities, but a good walk to the convention centre and harbourfront. Just a few blocks from the Gaslamp District and tons of great restaurants. Staff was very friendly and accommodating - easily directed us to some good restaurants […] and gave some good advice on how to get to some out-of-the-way places. My only caution is that, despite it being downtown, I did not like this particular part of the neighbourhood and would not feel comfortable walking alone in the evening. Very nice hotel in Downtown San Diego. Great location. One block from Horton's Plaza. Easy walking to Gaslamp District, House of Blues. Too many places to eat and have a drink within walking distance to count. Rooms are very classy. My only complaint is only vending is the in-room mini bar. I think that $3 for a can of soda is a bit outrageous but there […] is a 7eleven around the corner. Very nice overall stay. Lees meer

Very cute hotel. Loved the Andy Warhol color scheme. Little small of a room, but good for price. Comfortable bed. Loved the green aspect...particularly $10 off valet with hybrid car. Front desk very helpful, such as fixing double charge on parking.

We have stayed at the Bristol a number of times and it is always a pleasure. Besides being close to everything in the Gaslamp District it is very comfortable and stylish. It's a lovely hotel.

I love the Bristol hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is close to the gas lamp district and it's close to the freeway. I just wish they gave hetel guests a better discount on their vallet parking.
