The staff was friendly and the location was perfect. We had an interior room, which meant no windows and I had never heard of that before. I was concerned at first, but the AC worked and the room was quiet and comfortable. Honestly, we only used the room to sleep….main objective was to spend time discovering the French Quarter and the location of the […] hotel was perfect for this. The hotel offers rooms with windows and balconies too. It has a lovely courtyard and pool. The free Wi-Fi and continental breakfast were unexpected and appreciated. I will stay here again Lees meer

The convenience of this place is worth half the price. It's a block from Cafe du Monde and across the street from Jackson Square. Nice little courtyard. Rooms are small but nice. We didn't have a window but that didn't matter to me. It is older but well kept. Service was good. Parking issues but they park on the roof with a valet and a car elevator […] so it works out pretty quickly. I would stay again, especially if I am going to be doing things around the French Quarter. The hotel is perfect for the traveler who plans to just sleep there. The Location: WOW! right in the heart of the French Quarter, just mear steps to Jackson's Square, a block and a half from the river, a block from Cafe du Monde, and on a quiet street!!! Could not have asked for a better location!!!! So close to the trolley that runs along the waterfront […] so you can get anywhere in the city and within walking distance of everything in the French Quarter!!! The hotel is charming. We had an inside room with no window. The bedding was good and the room had everything we needed though it was a little small. In the end, the size of the room did not matter because we just crashed there! The hotel does offer a continental breakfast which was enough to get us through our showers and off to a better breakfast. They offer tea, coffee, orange juice (only), pastries, and apples and oranges. It was okay but I have certainly had better continental breakfasts, I am a healthy eater and was frustrated by the lack of cereal or whole wheat offerings. Lees meer

There were no windows in my room. They were working in the swimming pool, so there was a lot of noise and I couldn't enjoy the nice garden ans it was impossible to swim. And, nobody told me this situation when I reserved... But, whithout these inconveniences, this hotel may be nice.

You couldn't ask for a better location within comfortable walking distance to all French Quarter sites. But, the open courtyard and hallway that our bedroom without windows was located in made for all outside noise to be magnified in our room at night. Very nice location right next to Jackson square and St. Louis Cathedral. Room was ok. carpet was dirty and found a cockroach in the room.

This hotel is fantastic, as long as you don't look under the beds with your flashlight or behind the tv or nightstand. But its New Orleans after all what can you expect. We were able to reserve a room during Mardi Gras weekend for an excellent rate! Our room was at the end of the hallway and had to huge windows that overlooked the accessible balcony. Lovely wall of exposed brick in the room and the plantation shutter doors on the bathroom were a nice detail. I had an inside room that was very small without a window. Mattresses need to be changed and linens were worn but over all clean and friendly staff. Hotel parking is $ 30 which is crazy for a week night. Would stay there again if the price is right. Great location but do not expect luxury.

Negatives: Couldn't sleep. Was awaken by sneezing several rooms down one night and snoring from the neighboring room the last night. A/C made a clicking noise that was excruciatingly annoying (I recommend the high setting, it drowns out most of the ambient noises, but it is very loud in itself). Great break from the standard "motel chains." Although an historic site, it was it great shape with many updates. Loved the outdoor courtyard area - great for that first cup of coffee in the morning or a relaxing evening drink before turning in. Staff were excellent and went out of their way to make sure our needs were taken care of. Great location […] for walking to sites in and around the bourbon street area. Secure parking. I booked this room along with another couple traveling with us. They had stayed at the Place D Arms sister hotel and highly recommended it. The location is fantastic...less than a block off Jackson Square in the French Quarter. That is where the fantastic ends! I booked an inside room. This hotel is very good. The staff is excellent, and the rooms are adequate. You cannot beat the location either. It is right in Jackson Square, and a 10 minute walk from almost everything. I am going to stay there again next time.

the best is location...can't beat it if you are trying to stay in the quarters

Check in was congested, and our room was not ready until after the promised time. But the room was clean and comfortable.

Great hotel, sweet service and location is hard to beat–close to the St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square. I'll surely stay here again, no doubt!

You can't beat the location of Place D Armes. It's right in the middle of the French Quarter, a few blocks off Bourbon (not too close for the noise to be an issue, but close enough to easily make the walk back if you go a little wild on Bourbon street) .The on-location valet parking is pretty clutch (though it is a little expensive-- if you drive, factor […] in a few extra bucks per night). The hotel staff are amazing and very helpful. The rooms very comfortable and kept clean with daily maid service. I might suggest asking if the room you are booking has windows however. I'm OK being a cave-dweller so the fact that I was surprised with a windowless room didn't upset me, it only made me chuckle and reminded me that I should ask more questions. (windowless rooms are great for sleeping in.. not that you'd want to in New Orleans). Overall, I'd recommend Place D Armes to anybody going to New Orleans. Lees meer

Nice place, if you wanna sleep in a dungeon. No window in a room. How they even can call they breakfast as breakfast. Jus coffee, juice and some biscuits. Nothing to do with beakfast. Location is great.

I have stayed in the Place D'Armes several times and was very pleased with this hotel. I was pleased with the hotel the last time I stayed, except for one thing. Previously, I was not charged for the use of their parking. This time when I went to check out, I was charged about 50% of the cost of our room to park. Perhaps, their parking rates are not […] too high, but being charged this much with no warning did not seem right to me. Being retired, I can pick my time to visit New Orleans, and I calculated my expense by my room costs. But I had no idea the parking rate would break my budget. While we were there, we heard others checking out that were very angry and surprised about the amount they were charged for their parking. I would recommend this hotel to others, but would warn them to check on the cost of parking before doing so. Lees meer

This hotel is great, has a great location close to the french quarter and far enough away from the party street (bourbon street) so its quiet but close to everything! the only flaw i would say is in my room i had no windows but thats the only thing!

the room we had was dated, the tv was tiny and ancient and the room smelled pretty musty. there were no windows, which was pretty diaspointing. the walls are very thin and much can be heard from the neighbors. breakfast is a few pastries, oranges and cheap coffee. we had a 6 night stay, and on night #5 we were awoken at 4am to the sound of water dripping […] from the ceiling. we got up to check it and water was streaming down from the bathroom ceiling. we could hear someone upstairs stomping around loudly...not sure what was going on, but within minutes our room started to smell like sewer. the office was nice enough to move us to another room, luckily they had one left. the new room was in another building (there are nine different buildilngs I believe) and was quite nicely updated and smelled of new paint rather than stale air. however, they did not offer this until after a second call and while we waited 20 minutes for someone to show up (they sent someone to the upstairs room first). it then took us a while to pack up and the rest of our night's sleep was basically gone. There was still no window in the new room but at least there was a door to a balcony over the courtyard down the hall. I'm not sure which buildings have been updated or how many, but if we were in the second room I would have been more apt to give this hotel maybe 3 out of 5 as it is a great location. The hotel is just a block from bourbon street in the heart of the french quarter. The room was too pricey for what we got, especially since one night of sleep was ruined by what happened. Lees meer

This hotel is great! And we also got it at an amazing price! The courtyard is lush and green, with a swimming pool, which is usually taken (well, we were there in the summer!), at night it was calm and empty. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The location was central in the French Quarter. We were able to walk to all restaurants. We walked to all sites except the World War 2 Museum, and we took a taxi there.

Not a luxury hotel, however the rooms are clean, staff is very friendly and its location is incredible: two blocks from amazing Bourbon street and the Mississipi river, too. Price is very reasonable! Breakfast consists of croissant, butter, jam, juice, and apple, only. For me it is okay, since I do not eat much in the morning.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I assumed that I would be sacrificing general niceties and amenities for the location, but it was great. The rooms were nice, had many amenities and the scenery was wonderful. The only down side of our stay was the front desk people. We interacted with 2 different women who were both rude and had a very poor […] attitude, but the rest of the staff was great. in the middle of all the action, close to restaurants, shops. Be sure to reserve a room with a balony overlooking St Ann and you will experience the best of New Orleans!

Not the newest of places but definitely worth the money and the location! The staff was very helpful and friendly. Parking did add over $30 to our one night stay but it was still worth it to be able to leave the car there for our entire stay and just walk everywhere we needed to go. the hotel description did not clearly indicate, that an interior room has no windows at all. Therefore, we have chosen an interior room, but my wife has a claustrophobia. The hotel was unable to provide an other room.

We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton in Dallas before we arrived in New Orleans. Place d'Armes was just a nice, really. Our room was charming, spacious, & comfortable. Karen & Jim B San Rafael, CA

This hotel is right off Jackson square close to everything. I have stayed here twice and enjoyed the hotel. However, I booked two books thinking that they would be together and they were not, not only did we wait all day for our rooms the clerk said your rooms were not together but 1 is up and 1 is down I thought close enough so 1 room was ready at […] 3pm and the other at 4pm which is what they say is check in time. We arrived at 830am checked our vehicle and luggage. The clerk said to come back at 1pm and they would get us our rooms. When the second room was ready the two rooms were at complete opposite ends of the property no where near being close and the clerk failed to mention that. Very pleasant hotel with lovely courtyard and pool. Great location in the French Quarter. Interior room was quiet and clean. The continental breakfast had a nice assortment of danish, croissants and fruit. We would definitely stay there again.

Place D'Armes may be THE most convenient French Quarter hotel. One hundred feet from Jackson Square and a block and a half from the French market and Cafe Du Monde's beignets. Valet parking is convenient (but pricey; $28/day). Price includes continental breakfast (which is not as good as it used to be). My boyfriend and I both loved this hotel. The location is awesome and the beauty of the hotel is absolutely charming. There are details to the hotel that make it so lovely in an old-world, quaint and sweet way. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Be aware of the following: The hotel is old but it's well-maintained. We could not hear anyone else […] through the walls so it felt like we had a lot of privacy. Also, some rooms do not have windows. I think the size of the rooms also slightly differ. We loved ours; ours had a bedroom and a separate sitting room with a sofa and second tv. We had a very tiny window but I think that's part of the charm of the hotel that each stay at the hotel would offer a different experience. Beautiful courtyard!! Here's a small testament to the hotel's loveliness: We encountered several other guests taking photos in the hotel while we took photos ourselves. The hotel is just that pretty. We had room without windows but who needs windows in New Orleans! The hotel is in the perfect location!!! and it is really beautiful. The only down grade is that the hotel is outdated. The staff is really friendly (I only had issue first day - the girl had attitude would not even say hi or look at me, over charged my credit card etc, but next day problem […] was resolved in 5 min). Beside the one crew member everyone were very friendly and nice!) Definitely if I am going to go back to New Orleans I am going to stay at this hotel! Lees meer

This was my 4th stay in NOLA, and my 1st at Place D Armes. You can't find a better location, right next to Jackson Square, a block from Cafe Du Monde, and a block from Bourbon St. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and the courtyard is delightful. If you want the real New Orleans experience stay at this hotel. It is a couple blocks from Bourbon St. close to all the action but quiet enough to sleep in late. The service is great and there's an amazing courtyard to sit and have coffee.
