We found the furnishings to be badly scuffed up and in poor condition. At $124 per night i expected a lot better quality in the rooms and the decor. The beds were not at all comfortable. The room and the hotel were clean. I would not recommend this hotel, at this rate we expected more.

Hotel is badly in need of renovations, looks like nothing has ever been updated. Bathroom full of water damage. The price is outrageous for what this hotel offers. The only reason we booked he is because its the only local option.

Says continental breakfast is included but that is only on weekdays. It should specify that more clearly, especially when a person is booking for a Saturday night. Its a basic hotel, nothing fancy so the price should be better compared to other hotels in the area. Bed was hard, but room was quiet.

I had to be in Aurora on short notice for a family event (funeral). This is about the only hotel in town and it seemed to be nearly empty on a Mon-Tues stay. There was no heat in most part of the building. Window seals were all leaky. Here is the actual words from one of the guest... "You know ,it is terrible with the hotel, there is serious leakage of cold air from outside due to window cracking , the room is so cold and there are not enough heat. Staff were polite and attentive. Breakfast was wonderful. Rooms and hallways all need updating. Motel is showing it's age.

I will never be staying again. This was the 3rd time staying and it just keeps getting worse. The place needs an UPDATE. Cigarette butts in the stairwell. Swipe cards never work. The only thing I can give praise for is the Gentleman at the front desk. Do they think that anyone would want to stay for Breakfast???

To stay in a hotel, I only ask for two things other than location close to destination, a comforable bed and a pair of clean pillows as they are pretty close to your body and senses for the next 8 hours. Clean pillows refers to fresh pillows, not clean pillow cases. The pillows are overly used for a looong time in the room. The mattress is like the […] one that was offered in the dorm, hard and smelly. No complimentary breakfast on Sat and Sun,even it was confirmed in the booking breakfast included. The staff is polite and courteous. The washroom is reasonably clean. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. There are many choices with better offering for the same price in the neighborhood. I asked for two rooms nexts to or close by on the same floor. We got one the the 1st and one on the second floor. The room on the first floor were up til after 4am. because of the noise / party in another room down the hall and people going and coming alnight long to the party room screaming out. Even after the front desk was called.

Very good Breakfast for sure. The eggs are made as per your choice. Many of the facilities have been discontinued and therfore the hotel has a sort of gloomy look. But the rooms are well maintained and staff is helpful. It is far off from Toranto City and the Bus service is complex to understand initially ( VIVA, GO and YRT, TTC etc) If you have to […] travel every day to city by public transport then this is not the hotel for you. The cost of Tickets for a family shall be more than the money you save on a downtown hotel. It seems the management is trying to cut down on cost by reducing overheads on most of the services. A nice hotel way, way, way past its prime. Suffering signs of neglect and indifference. As it is the only hotel in this community of 50000+, it suffers from a lack of competition. Horribly understaffed, and underserved by the ones that remain. Needlessly expensive for the quality delivered. .All in all ... a disappointment.

The lobby looked OK but the rooms, hallways and restaurant were not impressive. Carpets were dirty in the rooms and in the hallways. Beds reminded me of summer camp (hard), TV,s old. This hotel has had some rooms refurbished, however the halls and room smelled of smoke despite being a non smoking. Beds were old and poor support. Breakfast area poorly lit and dingy with same old musty smoke odour. Badly needs an upgrade.

The staff is awsome, The first room the air conditoning was broke it was dark and gloomy a musty smell. We were moved to a different room it also smelled musty. The bed spreads are very old I didn't want to touch it. The rooms need major renovations. The rooms were over priced for the bad conditon the rooms are in. Check in was easy. We knew that we would be arriving in the morning and that check in wasnt until 3pm. So I called the day before (more than 24 hours notice) and asked if the room could be ready when we were due to arrive. They said that it would be ready and it was. Off to a good start. Got to the room, room was booked for 2 adults, yet, there was […] only one set of towels in the room!!! When we went out for lunch, we stopped at the front desk and requested more towels and they delivered 2 bath towels within 15 minutes. Ok.. I can live with that. The bed however was atrocious. There were 2 pillows on a very small sized "queen" bed The pillows were extremely soft .. no firmness what so ever. However the bed was HARD and LUMPY. Woke up both mornings with lower back aches and extreme fatigue. It was not a restful weekend. Also, the "free breakfast" is only available Monday-Friday. Tried to give us the incorrect room, argued that Hotel.com was to fault. Nasty receptionist, but finally looked at the reservation and provided what we paid for.

Hotel receptionist was rude - no customer services skills whatsoever. She did't even welcome us when we approached the counter. The room wasn't even ready when we checked in and took all our bags upto the room(the receptionist didn't tell us that the room is not yet ready) We had to wait 20 minutes for the room. The room that I booked through hotels.com […] was a king size bed and a sofa bed... when we got upto the room it was a queen size bed with a ripped apart sofa....the receptionist said there was nothing that she could do.... Room was clean, ready when we arrived, and the front desk staff, both at check-in and check-out, were excellent. Friendly and courteous! Room was nice, with all the necessities. Beds are a bit firm, and pillows a bit soft, but hotel was quiet, even though it was almost fully booked.

Facility in need of repair and updating. Main glass doors were not operating carpet ripped and stretched out. Elevator was questionable as to safety. Then I entered the room. sink faucet leaking, stains on the carpet, blower on the Ac Heat unit made a rubbing noise. Bad night!!!

This was ounce an above average hotel. The building and interior sadly needs a facelift, but the rooms are in very good care, hense the price is a LOT more reasonable than other hotels in the area. If you need a comfortable clean place to stay It's a very good deal.

We enjoyed our stay in the Howard Johnson in Aurora.Stayed for 2 nights and found the room quite comfortable.Sound proofing between rooms leaves a bit to be desired as noises in adjoining rooms and corridors seem very loud in the room. Reception very friendly.One slight problem we had was that we asked reception to book another 2 nights in a downtown […] Howard Johnson.We were assured that the booking had been completed but when we went to the hotel thay stared back at us blankly. No booking! You have a good day! Back to the Auroura Hotel it is about 1 hour of a drive from downtown and the airport.Taxi sevice from the airport is $90.Definetly need a car as you are out in the sticks even though you are still in an urbanised area Lees meer

worst check-in experience of my life. Finally got the wrong room with the wrong bed(s) at 5:00 pm. I phoned early afternoon to confirm my accomodations and was then told I took more than an hour to get there so they gave my reserved and prepaid for rooms to someone else. Absurd. there was a lobby full of people without rooms.

Checked in and went to go into the room but the door was open a little so we knocked and there was already a family in the room. Went to see what happened and they took a long time to straighten it out. Then we went to the new room and when we got into the room there was 2 beds in the room that were different heights. I have spent one night at Howard Johnson Toronto Aurora (Jan. 26th, 2012). My experience there was nothing less than excellent. The room was wonderful, and the staff was very helpful.

They looked after us very well even after the mix up in the room bookings.........we booked a King room non-smoking and hotel.com had us in Queen room.... the management changed the booking for us and found us a King room....we were very pleased.

This was a convenient place to stay. We were visiting friends. The hotel was dated but clean i went to the desk to get a cork screw and they had none for a night it was fine. The lady at the front desk was pleasant. would never stay there more than i night. I was a room to sleep in is all.

Terrible staff! Rude and unprofessional. The lobby was filled with smoke from the wedding guests smoking at the front of the building. Hotel was dated and old. Lamp shades were stained and the shower was mouldy. The shower head was also broken and soaked the floor.
