We hadden een kamer met uitzicht op de tropische tuin, prachtig. Kamer van alle gemakken voorzien. Wel veel problemen gehad bij het inchecken: men vroeg om onze creditcard als borg voor eventuele uitgaven die wij tijdens ons verblijf zouden maken. Onze card werkte echter niet en dat werd als een (abnormaal) groot probleem gezien; ondanks dat wij aanboden om tot 500 dollar cash te 'betalen'; men wilde ons zelfs in 1e instantie als gast weigeren, terwijl het hotel natuurlijk al via hotels.com betaald was. Zeer onaangenaam en men ging pas meewerken nadat we erg hebben opgespeeld; uiteindelijk 100 dollar borg betaald. Geen leuk begin van een verder overigens prima verblijf daar.

Heerlijk hotel, niet ver van Sea World, San Diego Zoo, uss Midway, Gaslamp, Old Town en het strand. Allemaal binnen acceptabele tijd per auto te bereiken. Super mooi hotel met ruime kamers. Het is wel een gehorig hotel, wat vooral in het weekend lawaai met zich mee bracht van buren. Door de weeks was de marine aan de overkant van het water met trainingen bezig. Dit vonden wij niet heel storend, maar het geluid is er wel. Verder zit ontbijt er niet bij in en is heel duur als je dat nog bij wilt nemen. Dat is echt een minpunt. Als je dit hotel boekt, hou er rekening mee dat het twee locaties zijn. Wij zaten in de tower en het 'grotere gebeuren' was verder op. We hadden wel een lobby, servicebalie, restaurant en verwarmd zwembad, dus dat is prima voor elkaar. De starbucks en de grote lobby van de foto's zit in het andere gedeelte. De kamers zijn echt super ruim! We hadden een ruim zitgedeelte en eettafel erbij, en dat voor een gewone kamer. Uitzicht op zee was erg mooi.

Het hotel ligt midden in het uitgaansgebied; veel restaurants in de omgeving en ook de winkelstraat is om de hoek. De bediening is gastvrij en zeer vriendelijk. Het ontbijt is echter simpel, maar dat schijnt in Amerika normaal te zijn. Kortom: als je op zoek bent naar een centraal gelegen hotel met alle gewenste voorzieningen in de buurt en ruime kamers, dan ben je bij Gaslamp Plaza suites op het juiste adres!

Hip trendy. Wifi in hal beneden is gratis. Op kamer voor 24 uur vijftien dollar. Vind ik wel veel. Hotel is eigentijds. Drankjes aan de bar vrij prijzig. Hotel is Veel minder stijf en goedkoper dan het Hyatt. Wel werd er volop gebouwd en was dakterras niet open. Parkeren kan met valet parking (vijfendertig dollar per dag) of rondom hotel. Wel goed kijken of je goed staat ivm schoonmaken van de straat. Wij hadden boete van zestig dollar ivm neus van de auto de verkeerde kant op staan.
Ligging.
Crowne Plaza Hanalei San Diego - Mission Valley ligt heel handig vlak bij de luchthaven in San Diego, dicht bij Presidio Park, Marinerekrutendepot en Staatspark Old Town San Diego. In de buurt liggen ook Universiteit van San Diego en Fashion Valley Mall.

Crowne Plaza Hanalei San Diego - Mission Valley heeft een buitenzwembad, een spabad en een fitnesscentrum. Dit hotel met 3,5 sterren beschikt over zakelijke voorzieningen waaronder een businesscentrum en audiovisuele apparatuur. Dit hotel met een groen/duurzaam beleid biedt diverse eetgelegenheden, zoals een restaurant, een koffiebar/café en een bar/lounge. Het personeel kan op verzoek een huwelijksservice, een cateringdienst voor evenementen en zakelijke diensten regelen. Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een spa, een conciërgebalie en meertalig personeel. Gasten kunnen tegen betaling parkeren.

Crowne Plaza Hanalei San Diego - Mission Valley heeft 417 kamers met airconditioning die zijn voorzien van een cd-speler en een kluis. Alle bedden hebben een pillowtop-matras met premium beddengoed. Bij betaling kan een snelle internetverbinding (via kabel) worden aangeboden. Elke televisie heeft kanalen via de kabel en betaalfilms. Elke kamer beschikt over een bureau, een gratis weekkrant en een telefoon met directe buitenlijn met voicemail. Elke badkamer is voorzien van een bad/douchecombinatie, make-up/scheerspiegels, een föhn en gratis toiletartikelen.
Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een koffiezetapparaat/waterkoker en een strijkplank/strijkijzer. Bovendien kun je op verzoek gebruikmaken van voorzieningen zoals extra handdoeken/beddengoed en een telefonische wekdienst. Een huishoudservice is dagelijks beschikbaar.
Afhankelijk van het hotelbeleid kan voor extra personen een toeslag worden aangerekend.

Service was great and room was nice, but nothing special. There were loud people literally yelling outside the hallways in the middle of the night and nobody from the Hotel seemed to shut them up. The Hawaiian theme is cheesy looking and needs to go, it is just what you will get. for the price of the hotel. I would give it 3.5 Stars....

Great clean hotel. It's really nice and the restaurant was really good. Paying $12 bucks a night for parking was the only downfall because I'm already paying for the room. Other than that, I would stay there again. Convenient to Sea World and the Zoo.

Booked a family room for 4 with breakfast. Only 2 breakfasts included! Breakfast was poor. Car parking $12 per night extra. 3 towels in room, 1 dirty. Will not return
"Way below expectations"
The lobby gave the impression of a much higher quality hotel, but the rooms were on a 2 star level in my opinion. The motel style rooms were very small.

"Good location poor service"
I feel like the hotel put me in the worst room they had because I purchased my hotel thru hotels.com. The room was ok, definately not luxury - more old style. But clean so served it's purpose for being last minute. Easy drive to downtown gas lamp clubs.
"Very disappointed with our stay."
The grounds, pool, spa and staff were wonderful. Our room, however, was for a handicapped guest which made it very difficult when washing your hair as the shower spigot was too low. Also, the drawers in the dresser would not close and our heating system did not work. We had to manually turn it on and off throughout the night. On the days we were there […] four buses with high school guests arrived. They overran the pool and the spa. There were so many of them in the spa that it literally over-flowed. We could not use the spa or pool due to the number of people in it most of the time we were at the hotel. Parking is at a premium so don't plan to park too close to your rooms. We visit this area 3-4 times a year and are looking for a hotel within our budget to return to each time. I don't believe this will be our choice. Lees meer

I was staying here for the Conference at USD. Hotel and staff was very friendly and my room was very comfortable and clean! Highly recommend this place! However, the location if you do not have car is not convenient, you can not walk to anything, and there is no restaurants near by. I have stayed here on several occasions, and each time has been very pleasant. The staff go out of the way to help, the rooms are clean and very quiet to outside noise. Would recommend this hotel all the time... price was right...

was a bit skeptical at first (got reservations at extremely low price) but it turned out to be worth so much more! clean rooms, spacious, good service. even got massages which were FANTASTIC! definitely recommend to anyone
"A bit of a let down"
There was a weird naked dude who knocked on our door the first night. Otherwise, this place was not bad but there is nothing special either. The neighboorhood has nothing within close walking distance, but it was a short drive to the places we were visiting.

"Crowne Plaza Hanalei-Not what I expected"
We stayed at this hotel for two nights for a friend's birthday celebration in San Diego. Unfortunately, due to traffic, we were unable to arrive and check in until 11 PM. We were told that rooms were first come first serve, but if we had any problems with the room to contact the front desk. When we entered the room, there were immediate issues. This […] room was older, run down, and located in the "motel" part of the hotel separate from the towers. I have stayed in this hotel before and had been quite impressed with the accomodations. However, this separate building was not up to par. There were short, dark hairs littering the floor of the bathroom, which I assume were pubic hairs. In addition to that nasty surprise, I noticed that the shower head was extremely low on the wall- about 4 1/2 feet off the ground, necessitating ducking underneath it to shower. When one did shower, approximately 4 inches of water would accumulate in the bathtub. If those things were not enough, my boyfriend noticed that the chain lock had been installed improperly-backwards- so that anyone could reach in and push the chain right open. We called the front desk to ask about a room change. We were told that due to the two conventions that were taking place that weekend, there were no more rooms available in the main hotel. Disgusted and tired, we went to sleep with one of the chairs pushed up against the door. The next day, we were about to leave for a day on the town, when my boyfriend became concerned that we would be leaving our things in an unsecured room. He called the front desk who dispatched maintenance very quickly to our room. I commend them for their fast attention and effort to fix the lock on our door. We left for the day feeling a little more at ease. As I have stated, I have stayed at Crowne Plaza hotels in the past, including Crowne Plaza Hanalei. We had a great stay at this hotel. It was Hawaiian in decor, tastefully done and very clean. the staff was polite and receptive. Great pool and hot tub for kids. The front desk manager on duty went above and beyond the call of duty and helped us with our billing questions and accommodations. We were so pleased we extended our stay! The location was […] perfect for Seaworld and gaslamp quarter and Mission Beach. Next time we come down we will stay here again.... What did it for us was the staff. So polite and courteous and made us feel like we were on vacation.....they all had great attitudes and made us feel so welcome to stay there. Hotel staff was very friendly, attentive to service. Even though we booked with Hotels.com, they gave us a complementary upgrade before we checked in as they had other rooms available. We went out to dinner, however did have breakfast in the restaurant in the morning and again, very attentive service. The grounds are lovely with waterfalls and lots […] of tropical plants. Very courteous staff, bell desk was very helpful. Room was and hotel grounds were well maintained. Great sushi bar in the lobby. Very satisfied with our stay there.

The hotel was very close to nearby attractions, and the room was big and spacious with 2 adults and 2 children. The beds and linens were also clean. The only unfortunate thing is that we have to pay for the daily parking. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

Second Crowne Plaze I stayed at in 3 nights and the last time. These hotels need updating badly. Location and staff are OK but the rooms are in bad need of a makeover. No hotel should be charging for WiFi these days let alone asking for an internet device if you have more than one computer to use.

We were in town visiting family for Thanksgiving. This hotel is very centrally located. We had a lovely room, overlooking the golf course with a microwave & fridge. Worked out great for us. Liked the tropical decor. Good food choices at the hotel also.

"Hanalei Hotel, Mission Valley, San Diego"
Love this hotel. We have stayed here many times over the years because the location is so perfect, the rooms are wonderful, and the housekeeping staff are so dedicated. Also, the restaurant is hard to beat. We hosted our family for a very good dinner in the Sushi Bar at Happy Hour. Very good value and great food. Everyone enjoyed it and we'll definitely […] be back; probably do the Thanksgiving Dinner Buffet next year with our family. It's also very quiet. Happy travels. Julie Lees meer

Nicely maintained, very nice grounds. Polite staff and rooms comfortable. Very convenient for vacation or business. Very close to most major area attractions and airport.
"decent place for a single night stay"
I stayed just for the night to be closer to the airport. It was hard to find an interesting place to eat nearby for me and my 10 yearold. But the room was clean and the tv worked, so we we're happy. The pool looked nice to but the weather did not cooperate.

"Avoid at all costs"
I cannot believe this hotels charges as much as a hilton. I entered the room to find ants on the bed surrounding their free shampoo baggy and it smelled like it hadnt been cleaned on weeks, musky, aka moldy. It was late at night and i didnt want to drive so i accepted another room but didnt sleep much. The people were great and i felt bad they had to […] represent the hotel. "Excellent hotel"
This hotel isn't fancy, but it's clean, comfortable and has most of the amenities a traveler might wish for. We traveled with a one year old who loved riding in the glass elevator and looking at the fountains. The hotel provided us with a crib. Be sure to ask for a room with a fridge if traveling with children. Not every room has fridge. We stayed on […] the side facing the golf course and it was quiet and the view was pleasant. "Crown Plaza Hanalei in San Diego"
The room felt like a cheap motel room. It smelled musty like there had been some unresolved water intrusion. It just felt dirty and more like a 2-star hotel/motel. My room was located off of an exterior hallway and felt insecure at night when I was walking to my room alone.

The room was pretty run down. The bathroom door didn't even close all the way. The sliding door to the balcony didn't keep out the noise from the freeway very well. TV in the room sucks; we ordered a movie (for $10!) and the picture quality was SO bad! Breakfast buffet at their Islands restaurant was $14 for some fruit, eggs, bacon/sausage and potatoes.
