Een goed betaalbaar hotel op loopafstand van de Hauptbahnhof, de Bahnhofstrasse en andere beziens- en shopwaardigheden. 2 Tramhaltes voor de deur en een gezellig restaurant en bar ernaast met goede kwaliteit eten.

Hotel X-tra ligt drie haltes met de tram vanaf het centrum, de tram rijdt iedere vijf minuten, is echt top. De kamers zijn schoon, simpel, maar goede bedden. 's Avonds wel veel jeugd in de omgeving (aan de linkerzijde van het hotel is een discotheek), aan de rechterzijde merk je hier weinig van. Voor dit lage bedrag is dit een prima slaapplaats.

the location near the mail rail station is the only good thing about the hotel. The receptionist(male) does not know how to behave with guests. He is rude in answering. The person in charge of Breakfast was quite good.

Early check-in was very nice. You pay for what you get - it's a bit dated. X-tra Hotel's location however is great and the tram takes less than 5 mins to get to the main train station. Yes the hotel could be nicer, but when you're on a budget this hotel does the trick. Hopefully you'll spend more time in the city than at the hotel, and since the tram […] rides are so efficient, why spend 3 times as much to save you a 4 min. tram ride - well unless of course you're a BOSS! Good value for money. It is walking distance to bus and rail station. Tour of Zurich is available at the bus station that make life easier for us to tour around. Shopping center is also within walking distance. Be sure that you do your shopping before Sunday as all retail shop are closed.

The X Tra Hotel is really more like a hostel than a hotel. VERY basic furnishings and tiny bathroom is all you're getting. The tv is the bulky type suspended in the corner of the room. The front desk service is fine and there is free internet in the lobby. Location is maybe 8 blocks from the train station.

X Tra hotel in Zurich is a very good choice. It is clean, comfortable and well located close to the train station and public transportation. The staff were very helpful and provided us with pack n plays for the babies. We slept extremely well and the breakfast was fabulous. I would recommend this hotel anytime. The price, too, was to our advantage.

If you are looking to step of the train and walk to your hotel and immerse yourself into a funky evening with the locals, Xtra is the place for you. Do not expect creature comforts but all is well and available from the friendly, helpful staff with some more modest but clean rooms in the hotel. The poor experience started right from the beginning when the hotel receptionist was arrogant and rude. We were told that the club/bar at X Tra was a private party and we were unable to attend. We asked for suggestions as to bars we could grab a drink and he gave us barely any guidance. We later found out that the bar at X Tra was open to the public. […] We had reserves a non smoking room and the stench of cigarettes was so strongin the room that we had to leave the widowa open all night even though it was 0 degrees C outside. Nice hotel. Clean and basic. Good location about 7 mins walk from the main station. Even though the hotel is above a nightclub it was very quiet. The hotel staff were pretty unfriendly. They were helfpul enough, but pretty blunt and rude. Free wifi access only available in the lobby (you have to pay to use it on a laptop in your room).

I have stayed in this hotel before so know what to expect. Zurich Hotels are mega expensive, but i think this is one for more of the bargain hunters. Rooms are clean, tidy and in good nick. The shower is hot and powerful. Televison works well and the staff are friendly and the hotel feels safe. You are at the top end of langerstrasse though you are […] not in the red-light district. Walking to the main station takes 10mins and is safe.# The negatives are the price of the restaurant (in keeping with Zurich) the cost of the internet (though it is free in the lobby) and the fact that my bed only had a single duvet, even though it was a double bed. I stayed at Hotel Xtra on 1st November and the first thing is that i was made to feel extremely welcome and although i arrived 3 hours prior to my agreed check in time, my room was made available at no extra expense. The Direktor and the staff were all great regarding directions and it was not only myself, they made everyone feel like they were at home. […] Even when i foolishly locked my passport in the safe, it was rectified without any fuss and immediately. I will now always use Hotel Xtra for my stays in Zurich and would thoroughly recommend this Hotel to anyone who requires somewhere that is home from home, close to the centre and very reasonably priced. When booking this hotel my main objectives were price and vicinity to the train station, both of which are pretty good. I was a bit worried about the area being the "red" district but we saw nothing that would cause concern. It is a nice clean, modern hotel with a fast working elevator. They had a free computer terminal in the lobby and breakfast downstairs for an up charge. My only complaint was the night club downstairs. Fortunately I was so tired that I fell asleep despite the pounding music. it was terrible because of Noise from club until 3 am. If you would like to play by that time, it is good.

Very basic hotel looking like a student dorm with old carpet ,small metal table, a tiny TV attached to the sealing. asked for an extra piloow and never got it. No service of any kind. not very close to any attractions, but a tram is close to the hotel.

My 2 college age daughters and I stayed at the X-TRA Hotel in Zurich and were very satisfied. We found the front desk staff at check- in helpful and accomodating. The room had three twin beds that were comfortable and clean. Yes, there is some noise from the street since our room was on the side overlooking tram and street noise, but the front desk […] will provide free of charge ear plugs (however, we brought our own for our 4 week trek across Europe). The housekeepers were so helpful to me when I had difficulty using the laundry facility. Best of all was the manager (I think he was) who gave us valuable information to go to Lucerne and catch a boat tour and cable ride. Loved the entire experience. You must know that Switzerland is the most expensive country out of the 12 we visited, and we did pay more for this hotel than any other, but compared to the rates of the other ones, it was well worth the cost. The hotel is situated at excellent location. This would be my first choice in Zurich if some improvement are done. Like Air conditioning of rooms. Improvement in house keeping services and porter service.

This was a good hotel for just needing a place to stay while touring Zurich. It was an easy walk from the train station (about 10 minutes) if you are traveling light. Or there is also a tram that stops nearby if you prefer not to walk. It was also close to the Swiss History & design museums. The shower was big by European standards and the room was […] clean. We did not choose to purchase breakfast at the hotel, but there was a Starbucks at the end of our street, close to the train station. However, it was much more pricey than in the U.S. There are most quick food stands in the train station. Overall, our stay was fine & we'd stay there again. Lees meer

This is on tram lines 4 and 13, or an easy walk from Hauptbahnhof and downtown. Try to get a back room, as the ones in front get the tram noise. Also there are shades on the outside of the windows which should be used, but they were not pointed out to me. I saw them next morning. Unlike most hotels in Switzerland, breakfast is not included. Good hotel close to Station, good value for money. Train arrived 5 hours late at 23.30. Phoned Hotels.com from train and they warned hotel we would be very late, thank you for that service.

Happy to recommend this hotel as a low-cost option in Zurich. Surrounding area not great and quite noisy but clean room, friendly staff and low price make it good value.

Helpful staff and easy connection to the main train station (3-5 minutes via tram). I'll second others' comments about the risks of staying if you are a light sleeper. We stayed here for two nights and actually bought a plane ticket home and canceled our next day reservation at this hotel because the service was so unfriendly, unprofessional and rude here. The front desk is incompetent, the hotel information booklet is incorrect, and the management constantly "watches" you all the time. We purchased a card to use […] the washing facilities but weren't told we had to wait for 7 hours to begin doing so. Our room wasn't clean even after the hotel booklet stated it would be serviced until 2 pm (we left our room a little after 1 pm). Room service was unavailable on Sundays but not listed as such in the hotel information booklet; room service was also unavailable from 4 to 6 which again was not told to us or printed anywhere. And that's not to mention the room itself which I don't know why its called the Xtra Hotel more like the No Frills Hotel. Never again. Lees meer

Everything was as expected and even more than expected. It's great value for money, no need to spend twice the price on other hotels around. The location is good and there is a tram train nearby, place to buy food, fruits and vegs if you like to keep it healthy. Overall I liked the hotel.

The location is not far from railway station and train station. Good service, room is clean with good supply of hot water and heat. Breakfast is good, with lots of variety(continetial breakfast). Money worth.

this hotel is very convenient, affordable and close to main railway station...the condition and color scheme of the room was marvelous(mango color with blue curtain) and very suiting to the eyes...just like a Swiss ice cream

A lovely clean, warm hotel. We were on the third floor on the front of the hotel. The only downside would be the local clock that chimes every quarter hour, and the hourly chimes. Also even though we were 3 floors up, the ground level bar's music could be heard for at least 2 nights until 1am (especially the bass), which is not good when you are up […] again at 6am for you departure flight. This would be the only thing that let the hotel itself down. If you miss breakfast - go to Migros (right out of the hotel) - they have a handy cafe serving fruits, and pastries as well as hot meals at reasonable prices. Lees meer

The hotel is in the center of Zurich : one of its only quality in fact. It's quite difficult to sleep because of a church and a discotheque very close to the rooms. The windows had problems and could not be correctly closed ... You have to pay expensive fees to use internet in the rooms . At least, the staff was correct and the room was clean ... The hotel was very comfortable, ideally located and with an extremely courteous front desk, it made our stay pleasant and memorable for the right reasons. I would definitely stay again and recommend others to stay there.

The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the Zurich Banhoff Railway station and the main shopping street the Banhoffstrasse is just across the road from the station. From the end of Banhoffstrasse is Zurich's lake, probably a 15 minute walk from the station. Trams and the S. Bahn are all easily accessible from the hotel. The X Tra Hotel is easy to find for any first time visitor to Zurich and short train ride from the Airport and them either a quick tram or easy walk from the main train station. Staff is young, friendly and enthusiastic. Zurich can be an extremely expensive city so this property offer value to the budget conscious traveler.

I booked 2 seperated stays at this hotel. I did not realize that there were two different rates, one with brakfast, and another without. I had booked my first stay without, by mistake. The manager of the hotel, would not let me make up the difference to get breakfast. He charged us 20 dollars a person for a continental breakfast. This is not a hotel, but a hostel. There are even rooms where you have to share the bathroom, just like a hostel. The building seemed like a warehouse, or office building that is turned into a hotel without much renovation. This area north of the train station is not the main happening area in Zurich, south of the station is. So, we had to go all the way to the south to see all the attractions of Zurich - Bahnhof str, kunst haus, old city, etc. At night the receptionist was nice, but in the morning another receptionist was a bit unfriendly. The bed was comfortable. Bed sheets, comforter, etc. were good. Bathroom was small, no tub, but was good. There was an additional futon besides two beds. There is an office across the street. The surrounding was not the best place in Zurich. Morning breakfast was good, in a nice restaurant, which is part of their main business - the bar and lounge. I can't figure out the name... There is nothing extraordinary about the hotel. Service is good. The place is clean and the rooms are comfortable. However, there were no bath amenities. And, like most hotels and offices in northern Europe, there is no air-conditioning. Therefore one must depend upon the windows to ventilate and adjust the temperature. […] Fortunately the weather was great. But the problem is that virtually all the rooms are exterior to the streets. Therefore there is street noise for most of the night which doesn't help one's sleep! Also, there is a nightclub attached owned and operated by the hotel. The greatest thing in this hotel is the location. It was close to the Central station. And the room was also very wide and clean, but I needed a key to use the fridge. It was not convenient. I asked a lady at the reception how to open that, she was not polite.
