Rydges World Square in Sydney

To be honest I wasn't expecting much because the room rate was cheap, but was amazed by the friendliness of all the staff and very impressed by the beautiful room. The location is great, monorail station just outside the front door, very easy access to everything. Thank you for a great experience.

we upgraded so that we could have city views only to get a view of the roof and air conditioning motor of the building next to us, for the money we paid the room was basic, we have not been away for a long time and due to the special occassion we wanted to do something special so upgraded, it was a disappointment as it was a very standard room for the […] amount we paid. we could get better staying somewhere else. will not recommend this to others. I recently had to revisit Sydney for important business that lasted for 6 days. Found the otel online. Good rates, very convenient location and did the job for me. I also got the contract that I was there for. From a former Sydney resident, I would stay there again for sure.

The hotel is in the middle of the backpackers area, mostly Asian takeaway restaurants in the immediate area and crowded streets of people walking home trying to catch a cab past 3am. The Italian restaurant downstairs in the hotel did serve really good Italian food, no ambiance but good food. The guys that help us with the luggage are very nice. The things that was wrong with this hotel, we didn't get to check in to the hotell before 9.30. we were then told that we could have the room longer the day we were checking out. when that day came, we had to check out at normal time. we got two rooms, both were filled with smoke. my mom got a headacke […] and felt tired of that. to help us with that problem, we got some airfreshener on the carpets. also we should have been told that there was no breakfast included and that the internet is not worth paying 22 dollars for when it is so slow Lees meer

Great location, very convenient. Staff was very helpful and courteous. We even extended our stay another 3 days at this hotel. Only negative, internet not included and internet fees seemed high.

The room was old, dust at panels and picture frames. It was booked to two persons, but was except from a king size bed, only made for one. Only one chair, only one bed lamp etc. The cleaning was not in order. Several complains later, it was only made a little better. They have been saving monay on maintaining and cleaning, and it shows. Unhelpful managers. […] Will NOT pay in advance again. NOT worth the price. And by the way. We did have a view to at wall and not the city. Lees meer

hotel was very central to town, 10 min easy walk to circular quay, train stations near by.Over all a great place to stay staff were very friendly and professional. Looking arround our room the only thing that we were dissappointed with was the hair in the bathroom and the finger prints on the mirror.

We had family room on level 17. Room is dark. Family room has 2 bedrooms but no living space. Staff are very rude. Poor value for money. Moved to Meriton World Square (next door 20m apart) at same price, which had breath taking view, very spacious, airy, bright 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living and kitchen.

I couldn't have been happier with my stay Rydges! Great location, i walked everywhere!

This hotel has always been excellent whenever we stay with them. The staff are very professional and always helpful. The rooms are great. Spacious, with a very comfortable bed after a hard night of partying! Will always stay here everytime we go to town. Highly recommended.

I booked this hotel for my recent business trip. Location is quite central. There's a lovely sushi restaurant right at the corner of the hotel. Very fresh sushi and price reasonable. In general, has no major complaints except i feel that the service level can be better. Example: there's no 'Make Up Room' sign in the room and one of the bed lights […] was not working at all. Central location made it very easy to get around without a vehicle. Room was very comfortable and all hotel staff we dealt with were great.

This hotel is in a very convenient location. Mono rail station just around the corner, although you don't really need to use it as the hotel is so central. We were upgraded from a superiour double room to a family room....what a treat! I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

We were very satisfied during our stay in this hotel. The only thing missing was the skin lotion in the bathroom(we forgot to bring one). It will be also good to have a mandarin tv when we get up early in the morning or watch tv before going to bed. We will go book again this hotel next time we go to Sydney. Regards Gabriel

Great hotel in the city.

An absolute delight to stay in, the staff, the room, location was excellent.

If you stay here, make sure you request a room in the courtyard. The street side can be very noisy. This is a hotel that was probably stunning in the early 90s, but could use some updating. Internet is very expensive. But the location cannot be denied.

clean room, professional staff, most of all excellent location. We stayed there for a weekend, but it was pretty noisy outside and still could hear from the room.

I chose this hotel because it's the closest to where I work. Not bad at all. You definitely get what you pay for. Hotel breaksfast was really nice and the service was excellent. Would definitely stay again. There's a lot of cafes and restuarannts downstairs as well as supermarket and pharmacy. Train station isn't far either, though it is quite far from […] the harbour. Very good Hotel for the price, Very handy to everything took free bus from the near bus stop to see the opera house and 7 min walk to central train station. In the heart of city centre, Tour bus stoped in front of the Hotel for pickup. Avis car rental very close.

Apart from the initial man at concierge who was curt and dismissive, all other staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was ideally located and close to all the good food places. There were some biscuit crumbs on the carpet next to the beds initially, but the next day it was cleaned up with the regular room service. For those who visit Sydney for its rich culinary experience , and those who would not end their day at 6 pm.... Rydges World Square is the most ideal place to stay .... it nestled in World Square .... surrounds by every world restaurant imaginable .... and two big supermarket that close on 12 midnight ..... Some even 24 hours supermarket and cafes .... […] you would never have a chance to starve in this area...... The hotel itself is well maintained, fast and effective staff, very nice concierge guys ....everything is just right ... ohh and the hotel coffee shop is lovely .... would love to stay in Rydges World Square again on my next visit to Sydney Lees meer

We enjoyed the couple of days at Rydges, we found the staff very helpful when we needed it and as we were in Sydney for a convention loved the fact that the restaurant offered 'Breakfast on the run' which was both cost effective and time effective! Will stay there again.

Lovely people, exceptionally helpful. The hotel needs an upgrade. There was mould in the bathroom. I wouldn't rush back to stay there again.

One reason we picked Rydges Sydney was because our room was advertised as being on a fairly high floor in the building so there would be a view and was a "premium" room. Not true. The second floor of the building is floor 12, so each floor level is falsely elevated by 10 stories. Our room was far down a winding hallway, it felt like there must be 1000 […] rooms. The gym is tiny and stuffy, one laundry machine serves the entire building if you want to do your own. Room service was rather poor except for breakfast. When we checked in the laundry was dirty and we had to have it changed (and I mean BLACK). Also the television is terrible - few channels and it took about 5 minutes to turn on. Would recommend staying somewhere else. Pay extra and get a room near the harbor or stay out of the city altogether and just go there for a day. Lees meer

The hotel was right on the monorail line, with a 5 minute ride to Darling Harbour, and also within easy access of the train line as well. We ate in the dining room one night and although it was expensive, as we expected it would be, the service was impeccable and the food really delicious. We ate breakfasts at a little place right next door to the hotel. […] There are lots of convenience stores nearby and many places to eat, most of them oriental. We took two tours arranged by the hotel and were picked up from the hotel and delivered back there at the end of the day. We were too tired to take a cab out of the area, as the only complaint I would have is most of the restaurants in the area cater to Orientals. The one place nearby which serves pizza and North American style food was packed when we wanted to eat there. It was easy walking to shopping, with a good souvenir shop right across from the hotel. Location is great (<10mins walk to qvb & chinatown) and price reasonable. Front desk and concierge staff were friendly & helpful. Our room was good-sized, comfortable without being luxurious, most important the king bed was great. Bathroom is clean but jaded and small, fortunately water pressure was good. Housekeeping is dicey, they kept forgetting […] to replenish stuff like towels, coffee etc. On our last night we found a cockroach in the bathroom. I liked the room I stayed in, but the only disappointment was the valet parking when checking in, as there was only one person valet parking. Trying to find a park on busy Pitt Street while waiting for someone to park the car was terrible, as there are no set down area for cars. It was also badly organised when trying to check out and get your car out […] of the park by the valet staff because there was only 1 or 2 guys doing it. After a 14-hour flight from Los Angeles and three hours to get from the airport to the hotel, we were exhausted. We arrived hours before normal check-in time, and the staff went out of their way to get a room ready early and had our bags held by the concierge. While we waited, we went to the hotel restaurant. The hostess welcomed us warmly and inquired […] about our travels. After hearing our tale of the long flight and airport transportation issues, she said she wanted our first day in Australia to be a good experience and she "comped" our breakfast! It was almost embarrassing, but it was the first of countless examples of the good nature of our Australian hosts everywhere we went. The folks who staff the concierge desk at the Rydges were incredibly helpful, professional, and friendly. We would definitely stay there again should we be so lucky as to go back to Australia! The staf was very friendly, helpful and courteous. I would definetily stay here again.

We asked for a quiet room and were given one on the 19th floor. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in - these even an option to select different pillows. The room was clean and furnished with quality fittings. The hotel is very conveniently located - it's an easy walk to all the main sights and everything in the CBD, and close to […] Darling Harbour and the markets. The only downside is that the room is not well lit and we did get some noise from the corridor and neighouring room but the hotel did not seem busy so we weren't disturbed all that much. The hotel seems to be located in the middle of the Asian area of Sydney and is surrounded by mostly Asian businesses and eating places but a 15min walk towards the CBD or Darling HArbour provides plenty of other choice. These comments are based on a 5 night stay on the top floor executive level. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. All service staff were polite and enthusiastic. The worst aspect of the stay was room service food arriving cool or cold, unfortunate given the food at the in-house Sphere Restaurant (rib eye on the bone with sides of broccolini and […] kipfler potatoes) was enjoyable and piping hot with a surprising good wine selection (the Yering Station Pinot Noir is delicious). The Executive Lounge fare was cleared away before the appointed close, which could be percieved as a oittle rude. The TV remote was temperamental. Tourists may find a location closer to the harbour more inspiring. The room cost was greatly discounted through hotels.com - the full price would probbaly not be good value for money when alternative hotels with harbour views are available. Lees meer
