This Hotel is just perfect. Rooms are spacious, beds most comfortable. Do not understand complaints about the decor? Loved how clean the whole property was. Staff most helpful and my husband and I just felt very relaxed and peaceful. Pools are picture perfect and clean and so many of them. You can have your pick.Then there is a beach few steps away! […] Nothing to complain about, will probably stay there again. Golf course needs a bit of upgrade as well as gym. Lavish gardens/golf course, though abt 1km out of town. Huge pool/lagoon artea near rooms offers v. pleasant swimming experience. Garden rooms offer more privacy than balcony rooms overlooking pool. Love the swimming pool & fake beach. Friendly & helpful staff. Whenever they clean our room they somehow always blast the fan and air-con on high & coldest setting and always feel like a freezer after a day out but easily rectifiable. On our last day we told them that we were gonna check out late and get picked up at 3pm and although they said it was […] fine, they only extended from 11am to 12pm without telling us that there will be extra charges. The establishment is a bit too old and bed was quite uncomfortable

The most significant problem with the Mirage is searching for sun lounges by the pools - there are not enough and rude people try to reserve them all day (when not using them). This was such a negative feature in my last stay (despite other things being still OK) that I won't go back unless they do something about it. Couldnt have asked for more in the way of service. We were pampered from the moment we arrived. Champagne awaited us in our room which was a lovely surprise. Only real dissappointment was the unavailability of the other restaurant at the hotel which was booked out for most of our stay for private functions. I was very impressed with general standard of cleanliness, service and set up of the hotel. The points I felt could be improved on are: Exhaust fans in bathrooms (very annoying when mirror is fogged.) The bus into the shopping centre could be a complimentary trip. Im sure alot of visitors have no idea how far it is to the town when booking. A casual […] relaxed bar area for those laid back afternoon or eventing drinks inside the hotel. Not related to your hotel specifically, but the drivers of the bus into the town centre; whilst two were polite and friendly, the rest were quite abrupt, and unfriendly. Having stayed at the resort 26 years ago, we decided to re-visit. We don't know of anyone capable of eating a $42 brekfast buffet, a stupid idea. Rooms have been renewed and are large by any standard. Meals in general are very good. However, the golf course is an embarrassment to the rest. The greens are patchy at best and the general upkeep is obviously […] understaffed. The Country Club is empty, as is the commercial centre, except for some beauty shops. The pool area is magnificent - 8 lagoon pools - so it would never get crowded ... even in summer. Great for kids. Wish l was there right now!!

Very much in need of a makeover,it is tired and dated. For a championship Golf Course they should be ashamed at the condition of the greens. Complaints are met with comments that the hotel has been sold. Would not stay here again until overhaul complete. It is a shame that such an iconic resort has been let go like this. Probably the most stunning resort we've ever stayed in.... Spacious room with garden outlook, excellent food and interesting wine list at IL Pescatore Restaurant. Close to beach, an easy walk along the beach to Port Douglas vilage or the resort minibus if you feel lazy. Very dated accommodation, extremely expensive, even charge a large delivery fee for room service, rear projection tvs that didn't work. Not very close to the main street of PD. Great pool and cocktails if you can overlook the rest.

Fantastic property but now showing it's age in lots and lots of ways. Maintenance has been less than perfect. Porters and other staff excellent and remarkably helpful and friendly. Breakfast very disappointing: staff unfriendly and range of foods pretty meagre. Still don't get why you have to pay extra for an espresso when you pay at least $30 for a […] bowl of cereal and some fruit! Hyatt doesn't charge extra. Lees meer

The hotel is absolutely fabulous. The booking was easy to do and everything was confirmed and no problems at all with the booking once our arrival at the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. the gardens and pool are stunning and you can walk onto the beach. It is located in Port Douglas which is a beautiful township which is close to the Great […] Barrier Reef and also the Rainforests. Mosman Gorge is a beautiful sight for a rainforest experience. Also, along the Captain Cook Highway are places of interest such as Palm Cove, Barron Falls and Barron Gorge. Lees meer

It was perfect, what more needs to be said?

The Sheraton has got wonderful grounds, terrific swimming pool, but has become tired in the decor of the rooms. The rooms were very spacious and clean, but just a little worn. We noticed the kids creche looked quite rundown. Overall, the hotel would be great if it under went a current refurbishment!

Grounds of the hotel were lovely, good pools etc - but the state of the hotel warrants a 3* at best. The decor is stuck in the 1970's, bathrooms possibly out of the 1960's. very nice place. 5 acres worth of lagoon pools, golf course and beach right behind made for a great feel. its not cluttered and looks great. the hotel room was good.gym was not so good. little expensive, although you'd expect it. what you wouldnt expect was the room service fee just to bring your food. too much on top of the already pricey food. breakfast, […] although nice, is the most expensive breakfast i have experienced. room service staff were friendly and smilng, reception always polite and helpful, activities booking staff were good also. the breakfast staff seemed more reserved.they should smile more. so for the price we found this place at (very discounted) it was great, the pools stand out in my memories. We had just a short break over New Year. Our stay couldn't have been better. After reading a lot of reviews, I have to say we were a bit worried but because of this I think we went with an open mind and don't think we could have had a more wonderful experience. Staff in reception and the restraints were all welcoming and courteous. The only hiccup was […] a couple of mistakes made at the pool bar, but this didn't t stop us returning, they just seemed extremely under staffed for the amount of people at the resort. The pools were amazing, warm all the time, we didnt have any trouble getting a lounge. I was with my husband and child free, although there were a lot of families on holiday some with very loud screaming children we were always able to find a quiet spot by one of the pools to read and relax. We were lucky enough to receive an upgrade on arrival to the premier mirage room which although was a bit dated as I had read, it looked over the pools was spotless the bed comfortable and all the fittings were well maintained. It was cleaned daily with no stone left unturned. We didn't have breakfast included, but did have full breakfast one time which was great, a lot of choice for everyone. We had a car so often just dined where ever we were. We did have the most delightful meal in the Italian restaurant at the resort. The food was just wonderful and the staff went out of their way to make our time there special. We only touched the surface on what Port Douglas has too offer, so we will be returning and have no hesitation at all in staying again at the Sheraton Mirage Resort. Lees meer

Wow! The hotel website doesnt do this place justice! Yes so the decor is a bit dated, very 80s but still cool and well kept, and there's 2 acres of beautiful lagoons to swim through! Not to mention the pool swim up bar, what a great idea - I still cant get over the stools and foot rest in the water, the best place for an afternoon cocktail for sure! Staff were very friendly and they have the great idea of a Choice voucher which gives you $20 back a day if you dont get your room serviced to help the environment (you can still get clean towels, milk, tea, coffee etc). Port Douglas is also a great place to holiday and there is a shuttle bus from hotel to town every half hour. I cant wait to go back! Lees meer

The most amazing pools in the southern hemisphere

We loved our holiday at the Sheraton Mirage. I booked the holiday online because of the great 50% off special without doing any research, and then later read some of the reviews, so was a little dubious as to whether it was going to be disappointing, but my husband and I just loved the complex and everything about it. Sure it wasn't brand spanking new, […] but it was beautifully maintained, in a great position on the beach and set in the most magnificent tropical gardens. Our room was an utter delight being on one of the many waterways and we took full advantage of popping in and swimming around into the main lagoons. It was also very spacious which allowed us to eat on the verandah or inside - so much more than just a hotel room, and decorated with a lovely tropical theme. One of the features we enjoyed was the service they offered whereby you could forgo daily cleaning in lieu of $20 dollar vouchers to spend in the dining areas or bars. We took advantage of this and were credited with $120 which we spent having dinner in two of their restaurants - a nice little bonus. It was nothing to wipe over the bathroom and make the bed each day and housekeeping came midstay. Even if you chose not to have housekeeping you could still order fresh towels and linen daily and any supplies you required. We thought it was a great idea, you could have as much or as little housekeeping as you wanted. All in all we loved our stay at Sheraton Mirage and would definitely go back, and recommend it highly to those who appreciate beautiful surroundings and real class. Lees meer

The Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas has the potential to be a magnificent 5+ star hotel but requires a lot maintenance and modernisation to get it back up to where I imagine it once was. The pools and surrounding gardens are spectacular, very clean tidy and well maintained. The rooms on the other hand are like stepping into a time warp and heading back […] to a 1980s Golden girls television set... far too much cane and florals and peach to be considered a modern 5 star complex! Not to mention the beds are now kingsized but the linen obviously hasn’t been upgraded to fit the new beds and the towels had holes! The location isn’t too bad – 20 min walk along the beach into the town centre or a $7 return bus trip. Not a bad property just no longer lives up to the hype that it once deserved Lees meer

Everything was great except that one early morning wake-up call request was not fulfilled. Fortunately, we had set an alarm as back-up and were able to meet our timelines.

Fabulous stay - recommended to anyone wanting a realxing break. If you are staying mostly on the grounds the meal vouchers were a great idea and saved us heaps of money

great location, right on the beach and easy to get into town. Hotel interior is stuck in the 80's and needs a revamp. Food prices are way too expensive, do not eat or drink at the hotel. Would only stay here again if the rooms are on sale/heavily discounted.

Amazing. I seriously cannot believe the good price we received. We have a 6 month old baby and the pools and facilities are amazing. It's a 20 minute walk to town which is nothing and we didn't even bother going to the beach the poolside so so good. The Hotel is very picturesque. The Staff go out of their way to make you feel special. Couldn't get a better scene to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Rooms are very comfortable with size able bathrooms. For the Golf lover there is an 18 hole golf course on site to be enjoyed.

Set in lush tropical gardens with sparkling pools everywhere, everything about this Hotel was first class and without fault. The staff were all very attentive and friendly and the service was wonderful. The selection, presentation and quality of food was superb for both buffet meals and room service. Having 4 mile beach on the doorstep to walk along or sit and watch the sunrise or sunset was also amazing. Transport into and back from town was a short bus ride well organised and easy to access. Beautiful landscaping and pools. Very nice rooms. Didn't eat there as it was too expensive, except for breakfast which was pretty good. Silly prices on mini bar - when will they learn ? You really need a car in this area.
