Colonial Gables Oceanfront Village in Belfast

We loved the place even though the weather didn't cooperate. The only problem we had was the hot water suddenly turned off while I was showering and the temp of the room was a little hard to keep steady. The ladies running the hotel / cottages were lovely.

We were 'up-graded' to a chalet. It was in a great position right on the beach . It had excellent accommodation. The ladies in the office were helpful & friendly.

We booked at the last minute, read reviews, and opted for a refurbished studio cabin/cottage. This was lovely and as described. It was obvious that around the site there were other, un-refurbished units, and I cannot comment on their condition. I was charmed by the picture of the cute yellow and blue rooms and was stuck in an ugly rust and green. Old. could see the ones next door were the cute ones. Disappointed. Booked in advance - only one other car there when we got there and was disappointed in the room. Liked to location and the beach. the little cottages, though old, were quaint

CUTE CABIN....BEAUTIFUL VIEW...Close to beach....Cabin needed a little work on interior paint and outside front of porch....but over all Worth every penny to stay in and enjoy! Would definitely recommend :-) VERY FRIENDLY STAFF...VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT AREA! OVERALL GREAT EXPERIENCE! :-)

We were upgraded to a little cabin and it was clean, cozy, and had a beautiful ocean view. For the price, this charming little collection of cabins cannot be beat on the Maine Coast. They also have several regular motel rooms, but we did not see inside.

Upgraded to a cottage by the very friendly staff, was decorated like a small house with all the amenities you could need. The beach doesn't look exactly like the pictures but overall the site is nicely kept.

The lodging from the outside looked shabby, but the cabin inside was updated, very well appointed, and comfortable. It could have been cleaner. The Clerk up-graded our room to a cottage and had someone lead us through the property to our cottage. The clerk also recommended a good restuarant.

Clean, convenient and quiet. Nautilus restaurant a mile closer to Belfast is excellent, as well as Darby's in town next to the movie theater.

Great location n beautiful view from all rooms of bay. Was overcast day we were there and I suspect much nicer on a clear sunny day so we could have enjoyed sitting on balcony to enjoy scenery. Room smelled a bit musty when first entered n for hour or more. I opened door leading to balcony to air out room.

We had a great stay at Colonial Gables. All cottages have a water view. There's a nice little beach. Our cottage appeared to have been renovated and was very comfortable and had everything we needed. There's a grocery store just down the road. There's a nice little 9-hole golf course about 10 minutes away (Searsport Pines) - super nice owners. Young's […] Lobster pound also just down the road - had lobster four days of the five and even brought some home. They'll steam it and crack it for you - you can eat it there or take it back to your cottage - delicious!! It takes about an hour to drive to Bar Harbour, I loved it, it's a nice little place to shop, walk around, stop for a drink and something to eat. Lees meer

By accident, we got a room that was almost in the water at high tide-- waves lapping, great breeze, stunning view. You would have to ask for one of the lower cabins because they are not represented as any different-- but they really are!!! Rooms a little rough around the edges, but more than compensated by the campy feel.

We stayed in the cabins. They were all a bit different. we had a studio that was spacious and had a well equiped kitchen. It had been recently remodeled with a screen porch with an ocean view. The property had a beach with small pebbles, some playground equipment and a firepit on the beach. I would very much recommend it.

I stayed one night. On arrival was given an upgrade to a cottage overlooking the ocean. The cottage had been newly decorated and was darling. Was upgraded to a waterfront Cabin for the same price as a motel room. Sat by the fire till late into the night . Very friendly staff . If I could I would get on my Harley and drive the 3 and a half hours and stay for a month

My fiancee and I stayed here for three nights in August and we loved it. When we first pulled up we thought it looked a bit sketchy (some peeling paint on the buildings, etc), but the interior of our little cottage was beautiful, clean and well maintained. If you like old time motel rooms with "tube" televisions, pink sinks and toilets, acoustic tile ceilings and patchwork repairs on top of patchwork repairs, then this is the place for you! We were located in a cabin that was recently renovated and it was great. 100 yds from the water and a great view of the bay each morning. Most pleasant surprise we have had in accommodations ever. Doesn't look so great when you drive up but the place fit our family completely. Can't say enough good things about our stay.

The room needed some upgrades, the bathroom paint was peeling, mold along the corners, the fixtures were old and worn. The outside grounds of the hotel are much nicer than the rooms.

When we first pulled up, their huge sign was very impressive.The room was old, the bedding was very questionable and the bathroom..........pink walls and tiles with white fixtures and pink door. There was a rear door for each units that faces the bay; would I stay there again? NO.

Good location,about a couple miles out of town. Ask for a renovated cabin. Ours was updated but the exterior was not. [very shabby exterior] would not stay there again especially for the money. Very clean except for the worn sheets and bedspread.

This is a '40's era motel with a few rooms and many small cottages. The ladies at the front desk were so nice and accommodating, the motel room was large and CLEAN, and the view from the back balcony was of a lovely cove and the cottages! Great location, just a short drive to wonderful little town of Belfast. Check-in was a breeze and clerk was very knowledgeable about the area and local restaurants. You gotta try the local lobster pound -- it's the best around. And breakfast in town was good, too. Hotel is in a nice town downeast a short 40 minute drive from Acadia National Park. We stayed in the motel part. The grounds are nice, right on the coast. The room was clean and had a nice balcony to watch the ocean. The room was very outdated. The bathroom decor was right out of the 1970s. Plastic panels glued to the wall. Plastic floor tile pealing. […] It was fine, but to not update for 30+ years is ridiculous. A ugly, dark bedspread. A good price and the room was clean. Would not want to stay too many nights. We were upgraded to an oceanfront cottage which was decorated in blue and yellow, clean and very comfortable. We sat on the little deck attached to the cottage and watched the ocean, then took a walk on the beach and sat on a swing while others started a beach bonfire.
