Clarion Hotel Airport in Kansas City

Where do I begin? The staff were friendly, the room was spacious and mostly clean. The coffee pot had an old filter in it which had begun to mold, the toilet wouldnt flush unless you held down the lever and the ice machine on my floor was out of order so I had to go two flights up to get ice. The hotel was full so when we returned late at night there […] was no place to park and the lock on the outer door was not working properly so we had to walk around the hotel at 1:00am until we found a door that worked. The only saving grace was that the bed was very comfortable. It was definitely NOT worth the money I paid and I believe the quality I experienced was more along the lines of a No Tell Motel, rather than a Clarion. Extremely disapointed. Lees meer

I stayed 1 night at this property with my 2 children...what a nightmare! We spent over AN HOUR at the front desk, waiting to be given our room keys, even though I had the confirmation email showing I'd booked and already payed for the room online. Apparently, the desk clerk couldn't figure out how to get the room charged to the company. (All the while, […] other patrons were bringing dirty towels/washcloths to the front desk--red flag!--and she was also trying to figure out which rooms had been cleaned or not!!) It was past 9pm before we got to our room, which was supposed to be nonsmoking. When I saw it was smoking, I tried to call the front desk, but the phone just rang and rang. We walked back downstairs to inform them of the mistake, but she bluntly informed me smoking was all they had left. To top it off, besides reeking of stale smoke, the room was FILTHY. There were short black hairs on the towels, washcloths, and in the tub, the sheets and pillowcases were stained, the bedding consisted of 1 fitted sheet, 1 flat sheet, and 1 thin, scratchy quilt. NONE of the ice machines worked, and there were very few working tv channels. Because of several other events going on in the city, all the other hotels in the area were booked, so I was forced to stay in the nastiness with my 13- and 10-yr. old. (They actually asked if we could just sleep in our car!) I am NOT a picky person, and can deal with old decor, but this was disgusting. Please take a mom's advice and STAY AWAY!!!!!!! Lees meer

If you like hotels that have elevators that smell of urine, dated dacor, tube tv's, bathrooms that look visually old and due for refurbish, than this is your hotel! Don't get me wrong, this place has great location, right next to the airport. But for having really good location, they don't care to keep their hotel up to date, it seems. Enjoy!

Everythin was fine other that we asked for a non-smoking room and gave us a smoking one, we were extremly tired to made the move to another room.

Elevator didn't work. Internet was down. Rooms weren't very nice. I feel I could've stayed somewhere much nicer for the same price.

This is a great place to stay, it's close to the airport, very courteous shuttle and service, wonderful clean, quiet rooms, hot waffles, cereal, fruit, for breakfast, just what I needed after a long day of traveling.

This was a very clean, quiet hotel to stay in. The price was great as well, I would definitely refer family and friends.

quiet, clean and convenient. will stay at this facility again.

Very comfortable, nice staff. Wonderful full breakfast available EARLY, 5:30am! Shuttle service to and from the airport. I would definately stay again for the reasonable rate.

We arrived to the Clarion around 10:00 pm and found that our room door had been left open, either by the cleaning staff or someone with a key and things were missing from the room. Not feeling safe, we asked for another room and my pregnant wife and I were given a smoking room. The second room (smoking room) was in worse condition than the first; the […] head board had been removed from the wall and was leaning up against another wall, the bed was unmade and the room was otherwise trashed. We again went down to the front desk and were given our original room key, again by another staff member. We asked for yet another room and after getting to the third room, decided that even though there weren't light bulbs in but one of the lamps, the room would have to do as it was now 11:00 pm and we had a 5 am flight. We barely felt comfortable in the bed as there were large stains and holes that looked like they had been burned into the sheets. The phone in the room also didn't work (nor did the alarm) so be ready to set an alarm on your cell. All in all, it was a pretty terrible experience and I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The only plus was the front desk staff was very courtious through the process and even though the young girl had obviously recently started and was a bit frazzled, she held it together well and was helpful. My room had a light that didn't work, a door that was poorly secured so that it made noise whenever people passed, and had two dead phone lines. Suffice to say, I'm sure there are better options near the airport.

I was disappointed on several points. 1- not enough help at the front desk. 2- No washcloths in room. Called at 9:00 and went to bed at 11:30 and never got a call or the washcloths that were promised. 3- No fan in the bathroom. 4- No info in room on basic questions, like where to get ice, when is breakfast, 5- We could not find hotel with mapquest map […] and called the hotel and they did not know there was two Cookingham roads. My family had a great day at the NASCAR races and were so excited afterwards in getting to the hotel, taking showers, eating dinner and going swimming! It had been 94 degrees that day and my family was very hot and hungryt. When we got there, it took one hour and twenty minutes waiting in line to check in and there were only 4 parties in front of us! […] The lady at registration explained that the internet had been going down off & on for the past 3 days and they were unable to check anyone in until the internet came back up even though we all had our reservations with us and prepaid. The two parties behind us had called and cancelled their reservations since they found rooms at the hotels around us and were not having any problems. Their rooms were actually at a cheaper rate. Finally, we checked in. I gave her my reservation. She said she needed my credit card to charge the room. Again, I had to tell her it was prepaid. Next, we parked the car only to find out the door was broke with a sign to use the other one. Then, one of the elevators were out of order as well. Only one was working in the whole hotel. In our room, we found that it was up to standards! But we soon ran out of towelssince there was only two for a family of four. So my son ran down to get some. He had to follow the maid to 4th floor and handed 3 hand towels! Then the ice machine was broken and the only one working in the whole hotel was on the fourth floor. Then, came the pool! But when we went down there was a sign that it was closed by the KS Dept of Health yet they were still letting people swim! It was full! I couldn't believe it. If you are closed by a goverment agency then the hotel should abide by it. This was a terrible experience! Lees meer

Hotel was convenient to the airport, and the shuttle service was the best feature. The restaurant was poor at best. Continental breakfast consisted for cereal, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, and assorted (still in the bag) bagels. Suggest you take your own food. There was a refrigerator but no microwave in the room. Furniture was mismatched and some was […] in poor condition. Bed was suppose to have an air controlled mattress but it did not work. Would not choose to stay here again. Traveling through the area, good price for Hotel. Good size room. Loved the balcony for fresh air. Plenty of hot water and good pressure. Staff was friendly. Close to Airport with shuttle service.

Great hotel. I was shocked for the price I got a well worth stay. I recommend it to everyone.

decent hotel, great shuttle service to/from airport, very close to the airport and several other hotels but nothing else walking distance. clean, small indoor pool, had a problem with their cable TV so only had 5 channels available at the time of my stay.

This hotel was listed as a 3 star hotel and after my stay found that it's barely a 2. There is not a full service restaurant in the hotel which is one of the reasons I chose it in the first place. You can go next door to the Four Seasons for bar food. Was much older inside/out than expected. Sleep number bed didn't work.

My stay was only a short one, but the staff were very nice and responsive to my needs. However, saying they have a 'restaurant' would be a bit of an overstatement. I would not count on this. Also, don't count on the breakfast, unless you are the first person there. Marginal at best. Still, high marks for courtesy of the staff!
