We hadden een kamer met uitzicht op de tropische tuin, prachtig. Kamer van alle gemakken voorzien. Wel veel problemen gehad bij het inchecken: men vroeg om onze creditcard als borg voor eventuele uitgaven die wij tijdens ons verblijf zouden maken. Onze card werkte echter niet en dat werd als een (abnormaal) groot probleem gezien; ondanks dat wij aanboden om tot 500 dollar cash te 'betalen'; men wilde ons zelfs in 1e instantie als gast weigeren, terwijl het hotel natuurlijk al via hotels.com betaald was. Zeer onaangenaam en men ging pas meewerken nadat we erg hebben opgespeeld; uiteindelijk 100 dollar borg betaald. Geen leuk begin van een verder overigens prima verblijf daar.

Prima locatie om van daaruit San Diego te ontdekken. Naar o.a. de Zoo, het Balbaopark en ophaaladres van huurauto gebracht en opgehaald met shuttledienst van het hotel, ideaal. Schone kamer, van alle gemakken voorzien. Redelijk ontbijt met plastic bordjes en bestek.

Het hotel ligt midden in het uitgaansgebied; veel restaurants in de omgeving en ook de winkelstraat is om de hoek. De bediening is gastvrij en zeer vriendelijk. Het ontbijt is echter simpel, maar dat schijnt in Amerika normaal te zijn. Kortom: als je op zoek bent naar een centraal gelegen hotel met alle gewenste voorzieningen in de buurt en ruime kamers, dan ben je bij Gaslamp Plaza suites op het juiste adres!

Ligging.
Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina ligt heel handig vlak bij de luchthaven in San Diego, dicht bij Marinerekrutendepot, Maritiem museum van San Diego en Vliegdekschipmuseum. In de buurt vind je ook NTC Promenade en B Street Cruise Ship Terminal.
Hotelvoorzieningen.
Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina heeft een volledig uitgeruste spa, een jachthaven, 3 buitenzwembaden en 3 spabaden. Tegen betaling kan je in openbare ruimtes gebruikmaken van een snelle draadloze internetverbinding, terwijl de accommodatie over een werkstation beschikt. Dit hotel met 4 sterren beschikt over zakelijke voorzieningen waaronder een businesscentrum met 24/7 toegang, vergaderruimtes voor kleine groepen en een technisch supportteam. Dit hotel heeft 5 restaurants. Daarnaast heb je ook een koffiebar/café en een bar/lounge. Het personeel kan op verzoek hulp bij excursies/tickets, een huwelijksservice en een cateringdienst voor evenementen regelen. Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een healthclub, een kinderzwembad en een fitnesscentrum. Gasten kunnen gratis gebruikmaken van een luchthavenshuttle (op geplande tijden). Gasten kunnen tegen betaling parkeren. Dit is een rookvrije accommodatie. De volledige renovatie van deze accommodatie werd in december 2009 voltooid.

Elke kamer heeft een patio. Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina heeft 1053 kamers met airconditioning die zijn voorzien van een minibar en een kluis. Gasten kunnen tegen betaling gebruikmaken van de snelle internetverbinding (via kabel) op de kamer. Elke 32-inch lcd-televisie heeft kanalen via digitale ontvanger en betaalfilms. Elke kamer beschikt over een bureau, een gratis weekkrant en een telefoon met meerdere lijnen met voicemail.
Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere een koffiezetapparaat/waterkoker en een föhn. Bovendien kun je op verzoek gebruikmaken van voorzieningen zoals hypoallergeen beddengoed, extra handdoeken/beddengoed en een telefonische wekdienst. Een huishoudservice is dagelijks beschikbaar. Op de kamers van Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina mag niet worden gerookt.
Afhankelijk van het hotelbeleid kan voor extra personen een toeslag worden aangerekend.
Bij het inchecken dien je in het geval van incidentele kosten een erkend identiteitsbewijs en een borgsom in contanten of creditcard voor te leggen.

Milieuvriendelijke/duurzame accommodatie - Verklaring van derden
Deze accommodatie neemt deel aan Green Seal, een extern certificatieprogramma dat onafhankelijk is gecertificeerd. Certificatie door derden meet de impact van de accommodatie op onder andere het milieu, de gemeenschap, het cultureel erfgoed en de plaatselijke economie. Een objectieve beoordeling van de duurzame toeristische praktijken van deze accommodatie is uitgevoerd door een auditor die niet aan het externe certificatieprogramma verbonden is.
Harbors Edge - Dit restaurant met uitzicht op de oceaan serveert ontbijt, lunch en diner. Een kindermenu is beschikbaar.
Tapatini Tapas/ Wine Bar - Dit tapasrestaurant met uitzicht op de oceaan en het zwembad serveert alleen diner. Gasten kunnen aan de bar gezellig van een drankje genieten.
Starbucks - Dit koffierestaurant serveert ontbijt en lunch.
Quinns Mooring - Dit restaurant het zwembad serveert lunch en diner. Gasten kunnen aan de bar van een drankje genieten.
Bay Tower Lounge - Dit restaurant serveert ontbijt en diner en beschikt over een bar. Sommige maaltijden zijn mogelijk niet elke dag beschikbaar.
Een 24-uurse roomservice is beschikbaar.
De recreatieve voorzieningen bij dit hotel zijn onoverdekte tennisbanen, een jachthaven en een healthclub.De locatie beschikt over 3 buitenzwembaden en 3 spabaden. Naast een kinderzwembad bestaan de recreatieve voorzieningen onder andere uit een sauna en een fitnesscentrum.

De luchthaven van San Diego ligt vlak bij het water en ten noordwesten van het centrum. Je vindt bij de luchthaven het Diego Convention Center, het PetCo Park-stadion en de Gaslamp Quarter's. De restaurants en bars van deze wijk zijn het middelpunt van het nachtleven van de stad. Balboa Park en de San Diego Zoo zijn de groene strook van deze stedelijke jungle. Op Coronado Island heb je een prachtig uitzicht op de skyline van de stad.

Heerlijk hotel, niet ver van Sea World, San Diego Zoo, uss Midway, Gaslamp, Old Town en het strand. Allemaal binnen acceptabele tijd per auto te bereiken. Super mooi hotel met ruime kamers. Het is wel een gehorig hotel, wat vooral in het weekend lawaai met zich mee bracht van buren. Door de weeks was de marine aan de overkant van het water met trainingen […] bezig. Dit vonden wij niet heel storend, maar het geluid is er wel. Verder zit ontbijt er niet bij in en is heel duur als je dat nog bij wilt nemen. Dat is echt een minpunt. Als je dit hotel boekt, hou er rekening mee dat het twee locaties zijn. Wij zaten in de tower en het 'grotere gebeuren' was verder op. We hadden wel een lobby, servicebalie, restaurant en verwarmd zwembad, dus dat is prima voor elkaar. De starbucks en de grote lobby van de foto's zit in het andere gedeelte. De kamers zijn echt super ruim! We hadden een ruim zitgedeelte en eettafel erbij, en dat voor een gewone kamer. Uitzicht op zee was erg mooi. Lees meer
"kamer als een Hotel - prijs te duur"
De kamer in dit hotel voelde aan als een Motel kamer, geen *Hotel* kamer. En zeker niet als een Hotel kamer welke je in een "Sheraton" zou verwachten. En absoluut zeker niet voor deze prijs: veel te duur!!! (prijs buiten de handen van hotels.com, het gaat over de algemene prijs van dit hotel zelf) Dus enige redenen om in dit hotel te verblijven: je […] hebt er een cursus waar je te vroeg s'ochtends moet zijn en welke lang in de avond door gaat. "23 wedding anniversary"
Choose to stay here w/ my wife on our 23 wedding anniversary and evrything met our expectations. Was offered a free appitizer at the Bar and Grill which was Very nice. Third time I have stayed at this hotel and every stay has been ecxellent.

The room smelled like smoke and i have asthma asked for a marina view room the bathroom was dirty pulled out a towel with a diry sock in it i have stayed here before at the other tower and never had i seen the room so nasty looking unable to take my shoes off couldnt sleep thinking about the room awful makes me not to want to return. Pleople were smoking […] pot next door and the smell was coming through the bottom of the door.I left a message for some one to call me back but so far no one has contacted me. Its a shame since i rented to do the msm walk was going to say another day but not after that. Lees meer
"Great but bed was flimsy"
The room was wonderful but the bed was squishy and not comfortable. Lacks support. Pillows nice and long but mushy --no neck support.
Hotel was lovely. Great location and good views. Only slight disappointment was having to pay for internet services as extra. Would definitely stay there again.

I loved this hotel. My family of 3 had a great stay here for 5 days. The hotel is beautiful & located in the heart of everything. The amenities are great! Large pool, hot tub, firepit that is sometimes occupied, tennis court, free gym & ping pong table that was fun. Drinks at the Quinn's bar was reasonablly priced. The room was in good condition/-just […] be sure to stay in the marina tower & get a good view. We were above the parking lot which I would've changed but view was still good! The balcony was a bit outdated but everything else was good. Didn't eat at the hotel but plenty of options close by. I recommend Vigilucci's Italian restaurant on Coronado island which is only about 10 mins away. The best meal ever. Also Corvette Diner was good. Close to nothing except airport. Fraternity party from UCLA checked into my floor Friday night and were very loud until 3am. The hotel did relocate me and gave me a $80 hotel credit. However, the fact that they put me on the same floor in the first place, was poor management on their part. I would never recommend the bay tower and would not stay there […] again. Lees meer

Staff was extremely helpful. Room was as expected with a little bit more (view!). Solid hotel for the price. Only drawback was the surrounding area - had to drive to get to anything you might want to see.

"Next Time we stay two days before flying home"
Great staff of happy to serve you people....from check it to shuttle to airport- maybe a special rate for a 2 night stay?
We stayed in the Bay Tower which is the older part of the hotel. It was a little worn looking compared to the main hotel. The gym was under renovation and a shuttle was provided back and forth to the Marina Tower(main hotel). Our room was spacious and clean. 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels were provided so we had to request more bath towels because […] they did not dry overnight. With the airport being so close, the jets taking off and landing were very noisy. I heard that they did not take off after 11:30 PM and the nights were quiet. As our room overlooked the lagoon towards the airport it was very noisy to be on the balcony. The shuttle also went to and from the airport which was convenient for using public transportation to town. Staff was polite and helpful. Lees meer
"The Perfect R & R"
The best place to revive and reinvigorate. The fire pits and the sunsets were perfect. The staff and the housekeepers were the best. We have stayed there before and will do it again!

Only complaint is be very careful when you book on a 3rd party as it is not very clear where you will be staying at the hotel. Harbour Tower, Marina Tower or Lanai. It is very misleading. "Nice View, not a great hotel"
The hotel is located on the harbor and offers beautiful views of the harbor and marina. However, the hotel is old and realy needs to be updated. I would not have been happy at all if I would have paid full price for this hotel. The fact that I got a great deal through hotels.com made the visit tolerable.

Rude receptionist that could not find our reservation on arrival.On check out they didn't mention "self parking" was $ 22.00 per day until the bill was printed. No water pressure in the shower and unreasonable internet connection.No shuttle service to Sea World or Zoo. Way to close to the airport runway. Would not suggest this hotel.

"Decent Stay"
They need free wifi and need to better screen who they accept to rent their conference facilities. Looked like drug rehab and biker members had a convention the last three nights of our stay this last week.

The hotel was very nice. Very clean and attractive. The food was not very good and very expensive for what you get. That would be my only complaint. The location was excellent for all the "doings" in San Diego, CA.
"No access to anything without a car"
Was very disappointed to find that nothing was easily accessible from this location. Took a cab to dinner that was only 2 miles away and it cost $20 in each direction. Bell Hops told us should be $7 - $10. Although right up the street from Island Prime...highly recommend eating there!

"experience"
Somehow communication broke down regarding what I needed for my 89 year old father. The front desk had me parking in an opposite area of our rooms and forbid me to park in an area that was more convenient. I had to leave my father on the curb with his cane and no where to sit until I parked the car and then ran back to him to walk him to his room. At […] one evening they allowed me to go in to an area but insisted I come out immediately before I could even walk him to his room. By the end of the stay I finally spoke to someone who explained this was a true misunderstanding and did not charge me the $44. for the 2 nights. As nice as this was and appreciated it was a huge nightmare for me and the worry I had regarding my father and the possibility he could fall while waiting for me to return to help him to his room. I spoke to several people about this and no one seemed to have any understanding of the stress they were putting me through by not allowing me to help my dad. I feel a better training needs to be put forth so that the outside staff understands the needs of the elderly and accomodates that need regardless of the rules regarding where to park. It turned out that no one understood what I was saying as they all seemed to think our rooms were in a different location and that is why I was put through this no matter what I explained to them. It was only at the end of the stay that they realized I could have parked next to our rooms all along! No one was listening to the details and this small but very valuable part in service to the customers was missed. I am glad that my dad was ok but it was very scary for me to leave him alone while I went through this process. Lees meer

"Nice room, bad service"
When I checked in on Saturday, I was told by the front desk that all the rooms in the tower that I had a reservation for were booked. They offered me a room in the other tower, which is about a quarter mile away. The lady at the front desk also said that this distance was easily walkable. When I finally hauled all my luggage to the other tower and […] got into my room, I noticed that the room was not the deluxe suite I had originally booked. I was/still am incredibly disappointed by the lack of communication and professionalism of Starwood. Needless to say, I will not be staying with them in future. Lees meer

"Sheraton marina"
I did not care for this hotel. You could hear the airplanes taking off an landing all night. I could hear people running down the hall at 3:00am and then hear the people by the pool till late at night and early morning. The parking was far. Had to pay too much to park in dirt!

My fiancé, son, and I stayed here after our trip to the San Diego Zoo. Our view was incredibly beautiful. We had a view if the marina and the SD Airport. My 1 year old loved watching the planes take off and land. The room was incredible and was kid friendly. The bed was so comfortable. We ordered room services and I felt like a queen when it was delivered […] with the way we were waited on. The walls are a bit thin and parking is overpriced at $22 self park, but overall this was an incredible hotel to stay at. I wish we had more time there. Lees meer
"Stayed here for a conference"
Stayed here for a conference, as I'm sure many of the guests do. If I came on vacation, I'd probably stay somewhere in a better location. It was easy (shuttle + public bus) to get places (downtown, beach) but I'd rather have stayed somewhere more central. It is RIGHT next to the airport which is GREAT! The staff was very helpful and the place was always […] very clean. The beds are very comfy! And I liked having a balcony. Also liked how you can easily walk between the two towers and there is a sandwich shop, and Starbucks, etc. Overall a great stay! Lees meer
I was very disappointed that there was no free wifi in the room you had to go sit in e lobby to access the wifi.

My husband and I really enjoyed our recent stay at the Sheraton. The location was right on the water and we had a room with a marina view. The room was spaceous, tastefully decorated, the linens were soft and the Starbucks coffee was bold, just the way we like it! I would definitely stay there again.

Great hotel and room with very comfortable beds. However, be wary if you have a rent a car of $22.00 per day parking charge (self-parking) and also Internet usage fee of $11.95 per day....this adds up quickly for a multi-day stay.
