Ik was een week in San Francisco voor een Typografie Event (Yerba Buena Gardens). Na het landen in SFO kan je direct de trein nemen (8 dollar-enkele rit) naar Powel St Station (enkele minuten loopafstand van het hotel). Wijnuur in het hotel tussen 17-18 was OK (maar ze hadden vaak enkel de zoete, witte Moscato wijn). Gratis koffie 's morgens is voor […] echte koffieliefhebbers niet te pruimen. Loop liever naar Starbucks (2 minuten wandelafstand). Idem voor Supermarkt Walgreens (kan je kant-en-klare maaltijden kopen). Niet gegeten in het hotel. Tip: probeer de Thai "Bangkok" op Powell St (super en spotgoedkoop!). Andere tip: reserveer tickets voor een Comedy Avond (Cobb's Comedy Club), maak een rit op een Segway (Golden Gate Park), ga zeker naar Alcatraz (vooraf reserveren aanbevolen), eet Dungeness Crab in de Blue Mermaid (Fishermans Warf). Vergeet verder de opmerkingen op de site over onveiligheid (SF Bay begint 's avonds pas wat creepy te worden vanaf 9th St. Dus: Er lopen in de buurt van het hotel wel wat daklozen rond maar die doen niemand kwaad. Had a big presentation that morning (8:30) of check out. Construction sounds (drills) disrupted my train of thought and preparation. Very disappointing. I received breakfast free but it didn't help my presentation. They should have warned ahead of time or discounted room prior to selection.

Located conveniently in Union Square, this swanky hotel has quickly become our favorite San Fran hotel. My girlfriend and I drove up from Santa Cruz, CA for a weekend getaway, and that's exactly what this hotel was: a break from the hustle and bustle of work. Every night hosts a free wine tasting in the uber-hip lounge. It's like stepping into posh club and being catered to without have to pay for "bottle service". After strolling the streets of Union Square, this wine break was well received. And if you're a dog owner, this hotel is dog-friendly. Always a treat to see a boxer checking in as you're checking out. The service was great: the recommendations of restaurants and night life were epic. All around great experience. Average room, bathroom on the small side. Good location, excellent service. To nit pick the TV selection seemed to be informercial channels or pay per view.

Loved it! Just wished we could've stayed longer! We stayed in an 'inner view' room which was extremely quiet! Nice....

This location is great for shopping and theater and walking. It's a nice boutique hotel; friendly service; valet parking very secure and quick to get our car.

Yays: friendly staff, cute lab "mascot", nice refreshment extras, beautiful facility, perfect location! Great Location, nice rooms, bathrooms need to be updated and bikes need to have a compressor for all the bikes they lend it's a great service

We were very pleased with the location of this hotel, close to everything. The room was a little smaller than we expected, but was okay. We ate in the restaurant our first night and after telling the waiter of a shellfish allergy, there was a problem of hives that night. I am not sure what caused it, but I only ate there. this Hotel is just off Union Square which makes it a little less noisy then those hotels right on Union Square. The Muni stops right outside and you are in very close walking distance to all your shopping and tourism activities. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We look forward to our next stay at Hotel Palomar!

Hotel was clean, quiet, with good location. Close to museums and 5th street parking garage. Short ride to North Beach restaurants. Did not try the 5th Floor restaurant, but it has a good reputation.

Superb Hotel...no surprise it's well run by Kimpton! The staff was outstanding and room service very timely We were told the timing of our breakfast delivery and it was absolutely accurate. No detail was overlooked. We were very very satisfied

Super boutique hotel, very comfortable and really central.

Can't say enough great things about the hotel staff. Really all just wonderful. Highly recommend. Nice rooms, super location, well priced.

Picked this hotel because of the reviews. We were not impressed. The hotel front desk people were indifferent, at best. Lobby bare minimum and looks like a low-end establishment. I would NOT recommend this hotel.

Only a few minutes from the Bart and cable car turning circle, yet very quiet as it is above the shops although you access at ground level. We overlooked the glass roof of a shop several levels below which meant it was very quiet - no traffic sounds which is pretty amazing for the location. I was there with my older mom for six nights between Christmas and New Year's. Great location near Union Square shopping and SOMA museums. Service ranging from excellent to bend-over backwards extraordinary. Tasteful decor with blooming plants. The wine-tasting hour was more of an all-you-can-politely-drink, which was quite a treat with the decent wine. My […] only complaint was high cost of internet usage on the business center computer, almost six dollars for every fifteen minutes. Access was free if you had a laptop, which I didn't. I love this hotel for many reasons...valet is downstairs so you do not have to wait 15 minutes for them to pull up from a remote lot...the toiletries are Etro...the bathrobes are animal print...and best of all, the hotel is pet friendly! This hotel is right in the middle of the city center. If you want convenience of shopping (there is a Westfields around the corner) and restaurants, this hotel is in the perfect location. This hotel is very historic and very old school charm, friendly and helpful staff and nothing is an effort. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel was very clean and very central.

Great hotel, great staff, close to Union Square and Powell Street Cable Car and BART. Easy access to all buses too! Our room was very quiet with updated decor; super helpful front desk. I will definately stay here again!

This was my third stay at the Palomar...I keep coming back because it's outstanding in every way. Our room overlooked busy Market & Fourth, and yet the room is perfectly peaceful. And the oversized tubs in the Luxury King rooms are amazing. Lots of nice extra touches...wine reception at five in gorgeous Fifth Floor restaurant's bar, iced waters with […] fresh fruit in the lobby, organic coffees in the morning. I recently stayed at Hotel Palomar, San Francisco. It is my first time to San Francisco and I like the location of the hotel. It is convenient to go anyway, example, you can walk back to Howard Street to rent a car from BUDGET or to walk to UNION SQUARE (within 10 minutes. Shops are everywhere. The only concern that i had, was i saw beggars almost […] everywhere on the busy streets. They might not be aggressive or we need to be careful with personal belongings. Back to the hotel room, it is comfortable and mattress are just right. Quality of the pillows are good. This hotel serves good quality of toiletries. Booked the hotel in order to stay one night in dt San Francisco. The rate was slashed to half and i thought it was excellent opportunity. I booked the room with double deluxe bed - which i though was 2 beds. I realized this day after i booked and tried to contact hotel via email. There was no reply and i had to find different angle/email to contact […] them. After a long struggle i was just told that there are no 2 bed rooms available for that night. Hotel must of been prepaid so there was no way to cancel. When i got to the hotel they surprised me with valet parking for 51 bucks. they did not even let me keep the keys on me, since it was a rental car, i declined and found another parking near buy for half price. The room was position right next to their lounge so there was noise well into the night. There was no complimentary breakfast and a lock on the fridge. You could not open the window and it was too hot in the room. Could not figure out how to turn the heat down. I had to sleep with my mom on the same bed. It got to the point that sheets and environment were so warm that at 4 am i opted to sleep on the floor. Myself nor my mom got a good sleep and since i had to drive 500 kilometres on the following they it wasn't ideal situation. My mom was finaly looking to have some view from downtown hotel window, but on top of everything they were unable to give us anything better than fifth floor facing to inner courtyard. It was quiter than cemetery. I had better sleep and service on my week long vacation in San Francisco in comfort inns and other cheaper hotels. I do not recommend this hotel to anybody, not even at half a price i paid. The location was the only plus of this hotel, but only if you do not have a car, otherwise you need to buy a bed parking at a steep price too. Save yourself hassle. Find another hotel. Lees meer

I called and talked to the hotel reservationist and explained that I was driving down from the state of washington aprox. 12 hours and I could either stop at Redding,ca. or be in San Francisco,Ca. at 1:00am I asked if I could be accomadated at that early hour with out an extra charge he said yes and put a note in the computer.This is not what happened […] 1st NO room ready 2nd note in computer so sorry please wait in Bar lobby until they get room ready a 3:45am room ready but only 1 bed my reservation was for 2 . I was extremley tiered and went to bed no more arguing . At aprox. 9:00am I called down to the lobby and talked to the manager and explained I needed room with 2 beds He said he'll try but would need 100.00 dollars to cover maid service. I tried to explain That I would not even be here if your employee had'nt told no problem with my request remember he put a note in the computer which everyone acknowledged. Now you want $100.00 for maid service I said No I could go on about My wife and 2 kids that flew up that morning and how 1 stayed with friend and they would not even supply a cot unless I agreed to pay $35.00 additional per night. Overall was OK for one night, nothing special though about this hotel, considering high price. Parking was more than $50 per night with tax included. There was no breakfast, gym is just a one room with literally 3-4 exercise machines, very bad. The area is convenient, very close to Union square. Overall, disappointed.
