We hadden een kamer met uitzicht op de tropische tuin, prachtig. Kamer van alle gemakken voorzien. Wel veel problemen gehad bij het inchecken: men vroeg om onze creditcard als borg voor eventuele uitgaven die wij tijdens ons verblijf zouden maken. Onze card werkte echter niet en dat werd als een (abnormaal) groot probleem gezien; ondanks dat wij aanboden om tot 500 dollar cash te 'betalen'; men wilde ons zelfs in 1e instantie als gast weigeren, terwijl het hotel natuurlijk al via hotels.com betaald was. Zeer onaangenaam en men ging pas meewerken nadat we erg hebben opgespeeld; uiteindelijk 100 dollar borg betaald. Geen leuk begin van een verder overigens prima verblijf daar.

Prima locatie om van daaruit San Diego te ontdekken. Naar o.a. de Zoo, het Balbaopark en ophaaladres van huurauto gebracht en opgehaald met shuttledienst van het hotel, ideaal. Schone kamer, van alle gemakken voorzien. Redelijk ontbijt met plastic bordjes en bestek.

Heerlijk hotel, niet ver van Sea World, San Diego Zoo, uss Midway, Gaslamp, Old Town en het strand. Allemaal binnen acceptabele tijd per auto te bereiken. Super mooi hotel met ruime kamers. Het is wel een gehorig hotel, wat vooral in het weekend lawaai met zich mee bracht van buren. Door de weeks was de marine aan de overkant van het water met trainingen bezig. Dit vonden wij niet heel storend, maar het geluid is er wel. Verder zit ontbijt er niet bij in en is heel duur als je dat nog bij wilt nemen. Dat is echt een minpunt. Als je dit hotel boekt, hou er rekening mee dat het twee locaties zijn. Wij zaten in de tower en het 'grotere gebeuren' was verder op. We hadden wel een lobby, servicebalie, restaurant en verwarmd zwembad, dus dat is prima voor elkaar. De starbucks en de grote lobby van de foto's zit in het andere gedeelte. De kamers zijn echt super ruim! We hadden een ruim zitgedeelte en eettafel erbij, en dat voor een gewone kamer. Uitzicht op zee was erg mooi.

Het hotel ligt midden in het uitgaansgebied; veel restaurants in de omgeving en ook de winkelstraat is om de hoek. De bediening is gastvrij en zeer vriendelijk. Het ontbijt is echter simpel, maar dat schijnt in Amerika normaal te zijn. Kortom: als je op zoek bent naar een centraal gelegen hotel met alle gewenste voorzieningen in de buurt en ruime kamers, dan ben je bij Gaslamp Plaza suites op het juiste adres!
Ligging.
Super 8 Motel - San Diego - South Bay ligt in South Bay in San Diego, met bezienswaardigheden zoals Las Americas Premium Outlets, Silver Strand State Beach en Knott's Soak City San Diego in de buurt. Een andere bezienswaardigheid in de buurt is Cricket Wireless Amphitheater.

Het uitgespreide South Bay is bekend vanwege de ligging bij de Amerikaans-Mexicaanse grens. San Ysidro, ten noorden van de grens, staat bekend als 's werelds drukste grensovergang. Het hoofdzakelijk residentiële South Bay heeft centra met industrie, handel en militaire installaties. Het Knott's Soak City Water Park en het Coors Amphitheatre, waar grote concerten worden gegeven, zijn populaire toeristische attracties van South Bay.

For The price you can find something better. Stayed for two nights and house keeping didn't get done. The comforter was stained. Carpet was filthy. Windows didn't open and even though all the Windows and door were closed you could feel a draft of cold air in the room. Horrible.
"Super 8 comfort"
I was pleasingly surprised as to the shape of the hotel. We had been told by friends to stay there but not to expect much. It had all the immenities needed + continental breakfast & a pool...quite a surprise. Only downside was the mattress, we thought someone stole it & just left the box springs for us!
"Nära mexikanska gränsen"
Small cozy motell, close to Mexico! The hotel is avarage but the staff is top notch!! Latoya and Courtney aka coco were the BEST! They served everything we could have asked for!!
"Super 8 in Imperial Beach"
This hotel is OK for the money but I wouldn't stay more than a night or two here. The building is showing it's age, maintenance is somewhat lacking.

I was not very happy with the location of this hotel. I didn't realize how far away from the San Diego attractions it is. The room was not very clean and not in good repair. There was not enough hot water for showers. The microwave didn't work at all and the tv remote did not work. The internet connection was terrible. Overall not very impressive.
"Cheap stay"
The poorest hotel we stayed at on our trip. Not much more to say - you get what you pay for. Wifi and cell signals were good.

The room was clean, except the carpet. The pool was small but OK. The breakfast was a small snack. The price was OK for the room. Thanks to the receptionist - this lady was very nice and helpful! For the same price we would stay again in this hotel.

"Served its purpose"
The hotel was definitely in need of work and I wouldn't want to stay there longer than we did, a 10 hour overnight stay, but it served its purpose and was close to a great many things. It'll do in a pinch for a place to sleep but was definitely falling apart and seemed less than clean/sanitary.
Very friendly staff and our room was clean and smoke free.

After reading a couple bad reviews, We were a little afraid of what we were getting our sleves in to. But after sleeping there 2 nights, i have to say not bad place. clean, nice people.. This is no Hilton..for the price it was nice. very quit, i have no complaints.. I would stay there again!

"Near the beach!"
I stay here when I want to surf at Imperial Beach. The staff are always nice and helpful. The neighborhood isn't great, the rooms are old (like the entire area), but very close to the beach. They could change out some of the older mattresses and replace a few tubs, but overall, for the price and location and especially the staff, I will keep coming […] back. Lees meer
Sheets smelled like mildew.
the employee's were very nice. I was not too happy with the room that we got. the key didn't open the door. the front desk employee had to go open it for us. She said they would fix it the following day and they didn't. So when my kids got back to the room they had to wait till the front desk lady found the master key to let them in.

The price of the hotel may have been cheap, but the beds in the rooms were THE worst beds that my husband and I have ever slept on! I've had better nights sleep when I was stationed on the ship 10 years ago. I will never sleep at a Super 8 ever again!

The room was filthy. I turned down the bed to find hair on the sheets. The bedspreads were soiled and discolored, with cigarrette holes. I canceled my reservations and found another hotel.

Being a former resident from the area, I am aware of the crime for this area, but we experienced no problems during our stay. Was comfortable and if anything was needed, just have to ask.

For the price, room was comfortable, people were very friendly, continental breakfast was OK. The only problem I saw was the outside could have been cleaner and carpets could have been better. I would stay again. It was located only one mile from beach, which was great!

The motel is old and a bit run down, but the staff is excellent and keep it nice and clean. They were very friendly and helpful during our stay. we spent most of our time sight seeing and going to the beach, so it was fine for just relaxing after a long day and sleeping. My kids enjoyed the pool and the pool was open until 11pm.

Our stay in San Diego was great.Super 8 is a convenient location,there's stores all over and a decent beach, and just a minutes drive from downtown and other better beaches.The staff was helpful in letting us know what places were nice around!

"Needs MAJOR Imp"
Stayed at hotel with family. Carpet was filthy...would not walk on barefoot. Although convenient with microwave and fridge...overall room was dirty. Luckily, we checked in late and only needed it for one nigh sleep. Would not stay there again - regardless of price...nor will I recommend it to others. Go elsewhere...pay a little more!
"Needs Improvement"
The room was nice and large. The carpet was spotty with stains. Towels very scratchy, not soft at all (like sandpaper). The sink stopper did not go up or down. Lights above mirror in Bathroom didn't work as well as the hair blower. It has so much potential but it is dirty. By the way, the King size bed had a Queen size bottom sheet to it.

"The worst place we've ever stayed"
This place was really bad.Bad neighborhood.Constant smell of pot from the people living in the room next to ours.The room was in terrible condition. The bed and pillows were extremely uncomfortable. Holes in the curtains and mattress.Many other problems
"Perfect location"
The hotel it's located in the perfect spot , it's close to one of the beautyfull beaches southern California it's close to seaworld and San Diego zoo , it's really close to Tijuana and the most the covenience of the freeway it's so close you can go wherever you one it's the best hotels I ever been beside I always trust super 8 I recommend this hotel Cause […] I know you and your family be safe like I was great hotel. Place was a decent value just to sleep & jet. Not a great place to hang out..great location to Imperial Beach. Kinda rough around the edges & run-down.

"Terrible!!"
This was the only place to stay but the beach would have been just as good. Everything was dirty, roaches and smelled bad. I dont know how hotels.com can even put this hotel on their list.

I just stayed in the hotel for a night but found everything fine. The breakfast was good and the staff is friendly.
