Salt Lake Plaza Hotel at Temple Square in Salt Lake City

Though this hotel is older it has clearly been renovated....very, very clean and terrific staff. It's right across the street from Temple Square so excellent location. Though the room was small, the bed was fantastic.....wonderfully plush pillowtop mattress and superb pillows. We would definitely make this our hotel of choice in Salt Lake City!

I have used this hotel for years as it conviently located close to the Family History library. The first five floors are now being used as dorms for women, for a nearby business school. It is a little inconvenient getting luggage from the parking area, as only the lobby and lower level have access (hotel customers have to park above the second level […] parking area). Suit cases must be brought to lobby level via stairs, if my husband had not been along I would not have been able to manage it. My advise bring your suitcases in when you register at lobby level. The hotel is in a convenient location, as I was attending a conference within walking distance. I'd say it needs a bit of updating--peeling wallpaper, new carpet, etc--but the biggest thing I noticed was the lack of A/C in the hallways and elevators. It was incredibly hot! I did forget my toothbrush and the front desk had one on hand, which was terrific. […] If you have your own car, there is a parking garage and the front desk gives you a ticket to get in and out each day; which you pay for in advance. I liked that I didn't have to pay each time I left. My room was RIGHT next to the elevator (my bathroom butted up against the elevator shaft) and I worried I wouldn't be able to sleep, but I only heard the elevator once. Not a bad place to stay. location, location and location. this hotel is at center of down town and in the heart of business district. safe to walk around at night , clean area. Though this hotel is bit old style , needs some major upgrade but it works for buisness travelers who is looking for quiet room to relax at night . free wireless is a big plus.

My wife and I stayed here for just one night but we were very pleased with the hotel. The room was clean and well maintained. The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful. The location is excellent! Price was good for such a nice place to stay. A/C worked great too. Bed was comfortable. Highly recommended!! We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel has a great location right next to a tram stop. The hotel is literally across the street from Temple Square. The Staff was was acceptable, but sometimes hard to find. The main problem with this hotel is its age. My room was very small. The room was functional, just small. The lobby was kept at a nice temperature, the corridors for the rooms […] did not appear to have A/C at all. The hotel has a good location but is aging. I guess it is a give and take cenario. The hotel was in a good location and overall was nice.

We wanted to spend a night near temple square and this was a great way to do it. The price was right and the room was very clean and comfy. Will definitely try to stay there again.

Temple Square is half a block from the hotel. We could walk to a wedding at the Temple.

Hotel staff was friendly, hotel was clean and close to all the attractions we wanted to visit. Only negative was having to be charged for parking. The parking garage was empty. Many tour busses stay here so not many cars. It would have been a nice courtesy to have this be part of our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay. The Plaza is close to everything-- Temple Square,the free Trax train stops right in front of the hotel and goes to all of the attractions. The room was very clean and the food in the restaurant on site was fabulous! We would definitely stay again!

Great location for seeing the LDS and downtown Salt Lake. The restaurant is great too. This hotel is awesome!

3 star hotel in a 5 star location if you want to visit the family history library at Temple Square - hotel was clean and friendly, but we had one of the smallest hotel rooms I've ever been in. Their pool area is also tiny.

We stayed twice at the Plaza Hotel at Temple Square in SLC (6/20 & 7/21/11) on an extended auto tour of the national parks in the US and Canadian Rockies. It was an excellent location to see most of the major tourist attractions in SLC as was adjacent to the Mormon Family History Library and Temple Square. Urban light rail service is in front of the […] hotel. There is an attached restaurant, which we used for a few meals, but the friendly counter staff provided recommendations and a map to other downtown eating establishments. The hotel is well maintained and the rooms are standard size with a microwave and refrigerator in the two we used. Street traffic noise is minimal. Courtesy shuttle service from and to the airport was welcomed and efficient. The gift shop is modest. Two computers and a printer for securing boarding passes and checking e-mail are provided free in the lobby area, as there is no business center. Ample parking for your car in a five-story parking structure is adjacent to the hotel. Enterprise car rental downtown SLC officer are close at Pioneer Park. My wife and I (ages 69 and 65 respectively) are experienced international travelers. We would rebook at this hotel for any future visit to SLC. Lees meer

Clean Rooms! Comfy Beds! and Quiet Hallways on the 7th floor! Nice view of the capitol building from the room, and beautiful evening view of the temple's castle-like roof that is lit up at night while we sat at the edge of the pool each evening to dip our feet in the cool water after a long day of walking around the convention centre! So close to the […] convention centre's back door (which is never busy with line-ups, and we were never out of bed early enough to know if it was or wasn't unlocked at the same time as the front doors). And right out front of the hotel is the local train - which took us on a short ride to the Smith's Marketplace for smoothies, fruit, and veggies to keep in our room's bar-fridge! This hotel does not offer breakfast like many of the other hotels in the area do... but for us - a sit-down breakfast would mean getting out of bed an extra hour earlier! whereas protein powder in a smoothie only takes 5 mins and leaves more sleep-time! hahaha! so that was just fine with us! And what a GREAT discount by using hotels.com! So glad that tripadvisor website recommended your website before we booked elsewhere for a much higher amount! oh yeah - and the hotel is only a half-block from the gate to the temple square gardens! I travel to Salt Lake City about once a year to attend a Convention located at the Salt Palace Convention Center. This hotel is just across the street from the Convention complex, about a 7-minute walk to the main doors of the conv. center. It's always been less expensive than a "blocked" hotel through myh company. Love the JB's restaurant on the first […] level, love the free Wifi! My only complaint this time would be that we were given a smaller room than the two previous visits. Then, it was more like a suite with a sitting area where the TV was and a sliding glass door than opened to an unusably-small patio, but at least it was nice to open to the outside. This time, no sitting area, really "tight" -- barely had enough room to walk to my side of the bed next to the wall. Guess I could have gotten in bed on hubby's side and rolled over, but... Also I didn't have a night-stand on my side, which I could have used, and the sliding glass door was bolted shut! But love the JB's restaurant downstairs, love that Temple Square is across a different street, love the free Wifi and the "library". Definitely would, or WILL, stay here again, but I guess I'd try to be more particular in articulating what kind of room I'd want... Lees meer

The hotel employees were very pleasant and helped us very much. It was very clean, close to the library and JB's restaurant.

This was a quality hotel across the street from the Mormon Temple. It was incredibly cheap for the quality.

Clean room, clean TV channels, right next to temple square, wifi was a little spotty at night but worked well in morning.

Fortunately I did not need to spend a lot of time in my room as it was very cramped. However, it was extremely convenient for the activities I had planned during my stay. The hotel staff were kind and accomodating.

Exellent hotel ,Food next door very good also gift shop on sight, the onl complaint we were on the 11th floor exelent views of City but they had trouble with the lifts but not to spoil our stay.Staff very pleasent.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Salt Lake Plaza Hotel at Temple Square June 9th – June 12th this year for the MonaVie Imagine convention they were within a block of the Salt Palace which was very convenient and they had shuttle service to and from the airport. We found the staff and facilities to be very good. We were pleased with the fact that […] they had good food at a reasonable rate. We forgot a signed book in our room when we left and they recovered and sent to us which was very much appreciated. Our thanks to everyone there! My family and I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. It is very accessable to surrounding activities. The quality of service was excellent. Our stay was very relaxing and enjoyable. The rooms were very comfortable. I recommend this hotel to anyone going to Salt Lake City, UT. The area is a very beautiful location.

This was a great hotel. The room was very comfortable and there were warm cookies in the lobby for our arrival, everyone was very nice and most importantly to us the location was perfect. Easy walk to everywhere!! Would definitely stay again.

Clean, comfortable, great view, very helpful and professional staff, and good amenities. Bathroom tile, shower, and wallpaper worn.

Although we booked last minute, the hotel was clean and the room was nice. However, the room was very small, barely enough to walk around the bed with the other furniture. It was billed as a "single queen", which I did not understand at the time translated into "tiny room", it was a little too small; i felt claustrophobic on the 12th floor!

I found the Plaza to be right up there with the four and five star hotels without the extra costs. The people were friendly and courteous. Great location, right across the street from Temple Square. A lot of historical sites and stuff nearby within walking distance. Parking was no problem. Great place to stay.

Perfect location for Temple Square and the convention center. Trax was right there and plenty of great restaurants within walking distance.

We were placed in a room between 2 elevator shafts, called the front desk to request change, and we were hung up on. When I questioned the front desk person about his intent, he admitted he hung up intentionally. I would never return to this hotel when so many other reputable hotels were within one block.

The Hotel had a nice resturant and right across the street from temple square, close to a lot of the history buildings downtown.

The hotel offers a good value and an excellent location. It's not as slick as a Marriott or Hilton, but the room was clean and comfortable (mine was a little small because I checked in late and got a romom by the elevator), and on the higher floors, there's an excellent view of the mountains or Temple Square. I am a local to SLC and I travel quite often. I had to stay near the convention center one night downtown and this room was close. The staff seem helpful enough, but the room is very tiny. If I had to share with someone and had substantial luggage too it would not have worked. It was fine for overnight. It is very dated and used to be a HoJo. Looks […] like they didn't change much in the 15 years or so since they changed hands. The room is fine and the bed comfortable, but if I was paying the same price I would go somewhere else-- the Marriot is close too. The restaurant downstairs is not great but fine for a quick meal. Basically if you are only there for a night, it fine, otherwise go somewhere else. Lees meer
