Microtel Inn Olathe in Olathe

this hotel is nothing like the photos! rooms were very small, no cable and 13"tv sitting in top of closet. refridgerator was very loud so loud we had to unplug it just to sleep. i would not reccomend this hotel to anyone. it was dirty and unkept

I would not even let my dog stay in this hotel. It was unclean, unsafe, and totally unfit for people to reside in. We left after 15 minutes and checked in to a perfectly lovely hotel just down the street. If you don't know the area be careful where you book.

Tiny space no amenities

It appeared that the bedding was changed and some of the bathroom had been cleaned. However, the floors were filthy! It was obvious that the carpet had not been vacuumed or the floor in the bathroom scrubbed. Maintenance was ho-hum. For the price we paid, it should have been much cleaner, and better maintained. We probably will not stay at a Microtel […] again. The motels we stay at don't have to be fancy, but cleanliness is a requirement for us. There simply is no excuse for dirty. We had reservations a couple weeks in advance and called them an hour before our arrival. No excuses! I also didn't care for the attitude of the lady when we checked out, although I can't describe the look she gave me, she appeared to be very unfriendly and didn't have a "caring" attitude. No smile, no asking how things were, etc. And no, we did nothing to give her that attitude towards us. We did not complain about anything while we were there. We are the type of people that if we aren't satisfied, we just don't go back. We will give the business to another place where our business is better accomodated and appreciated. Thanks for asking. When we checked in, the man at the desk was far less than hospitable. I can't recall him saying a word over the neccissary. As we checked out 3 days later, what seemed to be the owners or people in charge, were very unfriendly. Upon hauling our bags out, they asked us what room we were vacating but regretted to say thank you or any salutation. We were […] also dissapointed with the complimentary breakfast: cereal, milk, OJ, bagels, jelly, cream cheese, and little packaged muffins. At one point, my friend and I needed a ice bucket to help fill our cooler. We asked the owner/lady in charge if we could use one. She asked if we had a room there. Well yes of course! The hotel was in a good location for where I was working at in the KC area. There is a Wendy's, McDonald's and Burger King near the property. There is also a gas station/truck stop across the street. When I pulled up there were only 3-4 cars in the parking lot at about 9pm. I went inside the front desk was courteous. Getting in the elevator to go to […] my room on the 3rd floor the elevator smelled like cigarette smoke. I am a non smoker and this was pretty bad. While walking thru the hallway there was a musty/gym sock smell. When I entered my room the room was clean and odor free. The bed was comfortable. There was a desk space to set up my laptop and work. The shower was refreshing with good pressure however it didn't drain well. It took about 60 seconds from turning the shower on to getting hot water to take a shower. There is a good selection of cable channels. The tv is way up on the wall on top of the wardrobe cabinet. The ac is very cold. There is breakfast in the morning however I did not eat it. On my way out the door glancing at the selections as I walked by there was cereal, donuts and juices. The typical breakfast offerings. Lees meer

The room was very cheap, but you get what you pay for. The hotel needs a major renovation. Simple amenities like shampoo, coffee maker, etc are not included in the room. I had to go to the front desk to get an iron to use. One plus is that they did provide free wireless.

A perfect place to just get a good night sleep,we do not spend alot of time in the room or hotel,serves our needs for the price.people are friendly there at front desk.

The lobby and hallways in this hotel smelled like bad B.O. The room was ok and did not smell at all surprising enough. The best thing about the room is the A/C was already on the room was at a great temperature.

This was the worst hotel I have been to. First it is way out of the way. As I pulled in the parking lot my car bottomed out because of the big potholes. I noticed the abandoned building with trash surrounding it that was pouring out into the pothole riddled lot. I walked in to check out and stepped in a pile of dirt and hair. I went to thefront desk […] and found the most uncourteous and rude attendant I have ever seen. On top of that he barely spoke English and had a thick Indian accent. I went in my room after the 15 minute checkin process because of the language barrier. The carpet was stained and sticky. Dirt in the corners if the room and on the floor. Bathroom had mold stains and hairs in the tub and sink. No soap or shampoo. I asked for a different room and after another 15 minutes speaking to the rude man i got a room not much better. The pool smelled of pee and mold. Not one thing was good about this place. Do not stay here! You can find way better hotels. Lees meer

The hotel is in a poor part of town. The driveway to the place has pot holes you could swim in. The noise from the truckstop across the street was loud as they run their air all night because it is so hot. The place next door was out of business and a real mess. The front desk was manned by some indifferent people, more absorbed in their computer poker […] games than saying hello. The elevator and hallways were VERY bad smelling. The room was clean and neat and smelled ok. If they can get the elevator and hallway odor problem under control and do some training on their desk people it would be a pretty good choice. The hotel was ok at first but then the air conditioner busted. It made a noise similar to a buzz saw every 20 minutes. We asked to move rooms and the front desk person told us we had to wait. When we came back to switch rooms the overnight guy was asleep and seemed to not care about our concerns. The room was smaller than most hotels, but it was clean and you can't beat the price. They don't advertise a breakfast or a pool, but both were satisfactory. Did I say it was cheap? What a deal.

For the price paid, its a good hotel for a quick overnighter. I would'nt stay here for any period of time longer than one night. Located across from a truck stop, the guests were made up of mostly truckers. There was a train track 20 feet from my room window, although I never had a train come by in the 12 hours I was there. Absolutely filthy, rundown, aweful. Never take children here. It's full of truckers and 'girls.' I was scared to go to sleep, and more afraid my car would be broken into.

The room is small but it is clean and well maintained. If you are just needing a place to sleep it is perfect. There was a contentinal breakfast and you can't beat the price!

Price was good. Hotel smelled like cigaretts and dirty laundry. Front desk guy that worked nights has no personality and was not nice at all. You get what you pay for I know that. So if you want a cheap hotel and dont care about anything else, this is good.

My friend was very excited because he had stayed in a Microtel before and it lived up to our standards. The room was clean, nice, and we enjoyed relaxing there for a few days. He especially liked the desk which he utilized during the day for writing. The only problem was the hot tub. We were excited one evening to get back to the hotel in time to catch […] the hot tub hours only to be disappointed in the cleanliness of the hot tub. Debris had collected in the corners and when we sat down in it, we noticed a film on the surface of the water. I would be curious to find out when it was cleaned thoroughly the last time. The staff was courteous and friendly. We forgot a hair dryer, and they provided one for us. Good location and easy to get to.

Very small room, but get what you pay for. Pretty clean, and a small, but unexpected, continental breakfast.

It served its purpose. I was in town on business for four days, and the hotel was clean and comfortable. My major knock was that the room was pretty "Micro" Just enough room to fit me in it, would not take a family here. Overall an ok stay.

This hotel was economical and a good choice for a 1-night stay while taking our son back to MidAmerica Nazarene University which is just a few miles away via I-35. The continental breakfast was pretty basic, but the place was clean and we felt safe.

It's a Microtel, so know not to bring the kids. Not that they aren't family friendly, just the rooms aren't very big. We just needed a hotel to sleep and shower. Since the price was right, this is where we stayed.

The price was great for what we needed just a clean place to sleep,not much time was spent in the room.Staff was very friendly.Would stay again for the price.The location was also a plus for us.

I was in the KC area visiting my daughter at KU. The Microtel was merely a place to crash and sleep in for two nights. While the room was small, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. If you're looking for a cheap no frills motel, for nothing more than sleeping in, I recommend this Microtel.

a little disappointed with the Hotel, the pool area wasn't very clean, hot tub didn't work very well it was warm but no jets, the rooms were pretty little but it was close to the race track

The price per night for this place was very cheap. But you really get what you've paid for. The room is very similar to ones in Motel6. You get a decent room to get a night's sleep. It's definitely not luxurious. The building right next to the hotel was abandoned and overgrown with weed. It is also right across the street from a truck stop. The location […] is very convenient... very close to the Great Mall and several fast food restaurants. Lees meer

This is probably the least well maintained Microtel I've ever stayed in. The carpet is coming up in the hallways, and there was mold on the ceiling of my 3rd floor room. I think part of the problem is that each room has their own AC unit - in the summer, the hallways aren't airconditioned and the building just smells musty. My room's AC wasn't on when […] I came in, so it was ridiculously hot and muggy in the room until the AC caught up. However, the price was good, the bed was comfortable, and the linens and bathroom appeared to be clean. I only spent about 7 hours in the room, most of them asleep, and this was adequate for that purpose. Location was very convenient. If I have to stopover in KC again, I would probably stay there again. Lees meer

After staying at a few other Microtel hotels with good experiences, thought this one would be similar. Was I wrong. The abandoned building next door wasn't comforting. At check-in, the guy asked me for my License Plate #, Make, and Model "in case anything happens to your vehicle." This wasn't comforting either. The place looked run-down, unfriendly […] service, the stairwell was so hot and filled with smoke smell and could not breathe. The elevator looked quite sketch. The room had one bed, but apparently the size of the room decreases significantly as well. The carpet felt damp (probably from trying to get all the stains out, and still not successful either), upholstery was tearing, no shampoo in the bathroom. Stayed here for only 7 hours to sleep, but still 7 hours too long here. Price isn't everything. Lees meer

We requested a non-smoking room, but received a smoking one. The entire 2nd floor absolutely reeked of cigarettes, including our room. Only after 24 hours of running the air conditioner was the smell inside the room tolerable. The smell also seeped into the lobby. I had read reviews and was not expecting too much. It exceeded them! The room was very small, good sized bathroom with tub. The sheets had a small stain on them, just took that sheet off. I was not planning on being there too long, just about 7 hours and it would all be spent sleeping so room size and such was not important. I did not check out the […] pool and also just barely peeked at what they offered for breakfast, I thought that since I had saved so much on the hotel room, I would take myself out for a big breakfast. The location was very convienent. I would reccomend this hotel for someone in the same situation as I was, just needing a place to catch a little shut eye. Room would not have worked if we would have had our children with us. The air conditioner was awesome, pretty sure I could see my breath when I got up in the morning! Lees meer

If you are looking for a place to sleep and is clean, than this is your place. It was quite and had no problems.

We had someone above us who kept banging and banging and we were not satisfied with how it was handled .. the room, location, cleanliness was just fine ... we called someone who said they went outside and there was no one above us?? odd he did not check the resevations ?? and it continued so I went out to the front desk ... the desk clerk who was a […] different person then who I talked to on the phone earler actually did call the guest above us ... BUT the noise continued well into the night .. we could not stand the noise so we packed our bags and left ... they oculd have AT LEAST offered to move us to another room ... the place was only a third full ... The room was very clean and comfortable. We looked for a lower rate and found it here. The was a small breakfast with limited choices but we didn't expect a lot. I found the staff we talked to very polite and helpful. I would recommend this hotel.
