This was a good option money-wise. Overall our stay was good, but we had some bad experiences. We didn't enjoy the activities offered at the pool since they where too loud. The beach is awesome!! But they should have a system to do reservations for the chairs. By 7am all of the chairs where "taken" in the beach and pool areas. Towels where placed on […] them making them unavailable. We where up early every day and we still couldn't get chairs or find a shade. We usually enjoy cool pools, but this was extremely cold. Food was not great, it was OK. Calling the concierge to make a reservation for specialty restaurants was like flipping a coin and praying they would answer. If the concierge was not there they asked us to walk to the concierge of the hotel next door, the Grand Oasis, because they couldn't transfer the calls!! HILARIOUS!! So we only got one reservation (out of three nights) for a specialty restaurant and it was at the mexican place called El Sarape and it was fine. I repeat, you get what you pay for and it is an OK hotel. Overall staff was very rude, the guy at the Nori Sushi Bar at the pool was the worst. We wouldn't even finish ordering and he was already turning his back on us. AWFUL! We had a good time as a family, just avoid asking staff for help. Checking in and checking out was nightmare!! Rooms were clean but room for improvement. Small amount of mold in nooks and crannies. Wait staff,bartenders and entertainment staff were awesome, friendly and funny but front desk was not helpful. Bottled water was very hard to come by. 4 people only 2 bottles per day. Got food poisoning (not from our resort) so my husband tried to get water. He was […] told to go himself to the bar, the bar said they didn't have any. went back to front desk but the front desk didn't have any and no offer to help so we had to find and steal it ourselves from the storage area even though we informed him of our health issues . Water was a very common complaint. Food was good and had some variety. Waiters were quick and polite and gracious but could use more 1 or 2 more at high times. Beach towels were very limited so most days were scooped up quickly. beach and poolside chairs could be reserved by placing a towel or personal items on them. Most days the chairs were claimed by 5:00 am with some guests claiming theirs the night before. I feel this should not be allowed. Hotel is undergoing changes.older section is ok but faucets leak and also temperature fluctuates(odd hot shot while showering). Beds and linens were clean but did have a musty smell if the room got hot. Beach front is clean but signs warning of sea urchins should be installed for safety as many guests are unaware and pay the price . The resort was nice overall. The concierge was helpful, but the front desk was useless. We had a few issues at check-in, and they were not apologetic or helpful resolving issues. The buffet breakfast was delicious, lunch and dinner were mediocre. The two restaurants' food was very good. There were only one or two waiters in each restaurant, so the […] service was very slow. We were there for about two hours each night. The snack bars have delicious food. The pools and beach were very clean. Get your pool chairs early because people start saving them the night before. There are enough pools that there's something for everyone. The activities at excellent. Many fish right off the beach. Drinks were decent. Not all the bartenders are familiar with drinks that aren't on the menu, but they do have a good selection. Some bartenders were very slow to acknowledge you if you didn't tip them, which is not required. Maid service was good, but they often didn't clean our room until the mid-afternoon. The showers are not very hot. The hair dryer would kill the power at times. The water pressure was very iffy. There are movies every night. There are shows in the theatre and on the beach. We loved the quiz show that started before the main show. If you win the quiz game, you get wine. All 3 couples had fun. Some issues, but if you don't expect much from the customer service or buffet. A group of eight booked this hotel due to the extensive renovations promised by Oasis Hotels and the promise of a free upgrade to the Grand Tulum. The renovations are minimal at best and the upgrade never happened. As a result we only spent one night here before moving to the Oasis Viva in Cancun. We wanted to enjoy the snorkeling and beach at Akumal, […] but could not tolerate the poor conditions of the "resort" nor the lies told. We have no complaints regarding the Viva as that proved an adequate substitute. If you book the Grand I'd say you could enjoy a stay for a few days, but do NOT book the Tulum. Lees meer

Where do I begin...at check in not one person at that front desk would deal with a single customer through to the end. They would start waiting on you then move to another person before finishing with you. Could only give us one room key as there weren't enough. FINALLY get a key to a room only to find when we get to our room and swipe the key there […] is ANOTHER persons things in the room, so they gave us another room only to have yet another couple in it. Finally get us a room and we walked in and said we booked a king bed (well apparently their KING is two doubles pushed together) Had a patio with no loungers on it. Front desk told us our beach towels would be in our rooms, but they weren't. Went to pool after getting settled and there were NO chairs or loungers around pool. CONCRETE!!!! Next day went to get a shower and the water was ice cold. Let it run for a good twenty minutes and it was STILL COLD. Decided right then and there that we were leaving. Again as we were checking out not one person at the front desk worked with us personally it what a mixture of people. As we were leaving met another family that booked 3 rooms only for them to arrive and they had no rooms for them!! Needless to say they were leaving to. This was supposed to be our Honeymoon! We were terrified by the reviews leading up to our vacation at Oasis Tulum and were pleasantly surprised overall. The beach is amazing and there is excellent snorkeling right outside. The hotel in general (both the grand Tulum and the Oasis Tulum) are very nice except for a few minor issues. Examples include leaky faucets, beach towels running out early […] and average food. However, we knew that the nightly rate we were paying was not going to get us the very best that Mexican luxury resorts have to offer and simply can not complain about these things the way some of the reviews have done. Our room (in Oasis Tulum) was very nice. It was clean, service was great and our room and beds were made daily. The staff generally were very friendly and helpful. We would strongly recommend carrying your own snorkeling gear and visiting neighboring beaches such as Playa Del Carmel and Tulum. The newer part of the resort is very chic and has a lot of potential, but it seems recently finished and a few finishing touches (such as hot water in small pools and jaccuzis) were not yet up and running. Overall a great vacation without any sewage smell or any of the other hellish stories mentioned in previous reviews, at least for us. Lees meer

Was told room would be ready at 3pm...at 4:30 I was finally walked to a room that was already occupied. Go back to the front desk and the staff seemed to think it was funny that I was angry. Food in the restaurant took almost an hour...was dry and tasteless.

We had a room that was connected to another..you can hear everything. The buffet was great!! Its a hit and miss with the services..and the lack of beach chairs is a pain. We had to get up by 6am to reserve chairs. Overall, it was a great time for the value. We would be back.

Our room was on the second floor, and housekeeper kept our room in great condition. He made towel animals for us every day, fixed the curtains, and added two bottles of water for us as well. MAJOR down side - a couple had their room broken into TWICE. The first time the thief stole both iphone chargers and the girl's iphone. The second night one charger was returned, but the thief also left something else... in their toilet. They were on the first floor, so be careful. Another couple did not have their room cleaned for three days straight. The bar & restaurant choices are not as extensive as they make it out to be online, most require you to be upgraded to Grand. The buffet was the only option for breakfast, the dinner options were only the buffet, an Italian place, and a Mexican place. We were all please with the lunch choices, so mostly skipped breakfast and held out for those. As for the bars, there were two swim-ups connected to the main pool, a sports bar, and one near the beach. The beach was nice, but once you go in the water, expect rocks. Infinity pool is for upgraded use only. Entertainment staff was great – especially Fredy and David. The best bartender was Fernando, who seemed to be a very hard worker. Oasis Tulum has a great infraestructure, gorgeous beach, beatifull swiming pool, excelent food, every night has a live show, but... fail in baisc services like a towell availability, reception staff bring a poor service. I recommend because the new general manager has a commitmend to do a better quality of service and he is working hard to do that. Oasis […] Tulum has in the same space a Grand Oasis Tulum that is great, better drinks and services and may be will be better for travalers that like drink more that margueritas and piña coladas. This hotel is under new management and under new name - Oasis Tulum (old names: Grand Oasis, BeLive). New management is working very hard to fix all different issues this hotel had in the past. This is our 4th time in this hotel (name of hotel is changed again). Staff as always very friendly and working hard to make you vacation pleasant. We had several […] small issues with room (broken lights, mirror, etc.) but most of issues were fixed promptly once reported to reception (nothing serious). Food is excellent and nice selection of drinks. Hotel is still under renovation, so part of it closed, but it seems it will be very nice once renovation is completed. Cons: 1. Our request to get all rooms together was not accommodated even so it was sent several month in advance. 2. Beach was a bill rocky due to resent storm - but this is no hotels fault and we were told this will be fixed soon as part of Federal program. The overall resort experiance was very good for myself, my husband and our two girls (10 & 11yrs). We were a little learly reading online reviews but were pleasanly suprised and felt the reviews didn't tell the whole story. The Oasis Tulum has been revovating for the last year and had just reopened the week we arrived. We had requested an ocean view […] non smoking room when we booked. Our requested was accomodated upon our four hour late arrival, but the room had a few problems. We asked to switch rooms the next morning. Our new room overlooked the pool area. No problems with this room! It was super clean and everyone was thrilled with the orgami towel art each day.The staff in the resort were nothing but hardworking, friendy, and took pride with what services they provided. The staff made us feel safe and welcome for our enitre stay. Given the resort did not have alot of guests when we arrived it was hard for the activity staff to organize games by the beach and pool. When we were leaving the resort was hopping with new guests so I'm sure the paricapation level was going to be higher. The resort is small and easy walking to all the areas, no shuttle service needed within it. I would recommend this resort to other who would be looking for a lazy beach, front door snokling (the second largest coral reef is swimming distance from shore), walkable, and great service. Our girls said it was a better vacation that Disneyland. If you go say Ola to Hugo, Freddie and Isabeth for us ;o)!! Lees meer

Beautiful hotel, great design, right on the beach. Kids and parents alike enjoyed every minute. Food is plentiful and delicious, buffet plus three individual restaurants. Great service, friendly staff, a lot of attention to detail. We went in the low season, no negatives at all.

For the price, this is a solid all-inclusive. The food was great, the service was great and the location is beautiful. Awesome snorkeling right off the beach, plus beautiful sandy swimming area. Just came back for a second time. They still have some kinks to work out, but what they lack they make up for in service!! It's a smaller property so if you are looking for big crazy resort fun, this is not for you! Food is okay, very good in the restaurants, and plentiful! Thae beach is excellent!! The majority of the staff, bell boy, restaurant staff, etc. was wonderful. The front desk had no idea what they were doing and really put a bad taste in our mouth for what should have been a relaxing vacation. Our room was right next to the laundry room, so you heard metal wheels on the tile going up and down the hall early in the morning and late at […] night. There were cockroaches in our room day and night, when we threw them away new ones would pop up. We asked if an upgrade was an option and they said sure, but it took a day and half to make it work. If you are looking for a quiet, no frills vacation with a beautiful beach, nice pools, and good food, this is it. Since the resort did not have enough umbrellas and chairs, I had to be up by 6 am to claim mine for the day. Beach- was beautiful and groomed each morning by resort staff. The sand was as soft as sugar and the water, a turquoise blue. Lots […] of beautiful fish but bring your own snorkel. Pools- were clean, refreshing and lovely. The Spiderman pool hosted a swim up bar for children and one for adults. If you bring your own insulated mug, they will fill it up with the beverage of your choice, even alcoholic. Food- Four restaurants (Italian, Brazilian, Gourmet and Asian), a buffet, and a Sushi Bar for. Reservations are needed for any restaurant other than the buffet. I thought the food was great. There was a lot of variety and food was plentiful. The buffet was open morning, lunch and dinner. Some people complained that bacon was available every morning. Cleanliness- the staff kept the resort immaculate. The staff was friendly and worked their tails off but do not expect to be catered to, they do not have enough staff. Evening shows - I only attend one, a live Mexican dance show in the theater. The dancers were excellent and very professional. The theater had a wooden floor stage so the tapping of the dancers feet drowned out the music being danced to. The theater lacked acoustics which detracted from the performance. We booked through expedia and did not get the room we paid for or expected. We booked a balcony room with a garden view and walked into a room with no balcony that had a dumpster view...literally three dumpsters right outside our window. We proceeded to the washroom and were greeted by two huge cockroaches. The toilet would not flush and there was no […] hot water to shower with. We demanded another room and the woman at the fromt desk agreed that we did not get the right room but was unable to move us because there was no available rooms at that time...manager no where to be found. Needless to say 2 days and 2 nights later we had a room change, but not without headache, disappointment and a waste of valuable vacation time. Rumor has it that this hotel will be closing after spring break...hence why management and the lobby personnel can care less about all the complaints. The customer service was horrible - we were supposed to have drinks in our fridge (who did not work by the way) and never got them, even after calling the service desk every time their answer was in 30 minutes; and we never got anything delivered; food was ok, not great; rooms were horrible and needed desperately update - our shower was leaking and […] never got fixed after 3 times we call and got the same answer - in 30 minutes; we did not have pressure in the bathroom sink the first 2 days, but luckily after i filed a complaint with the concierge it did get fixed; i can write a lot more , but please take my advice and go to other resorts - it is worth spending the extra couple hundred bucks :) Lees meer

We spent a week in the middle of March 2012 and wanted to say that despite a few shortcomings, there are some great things about this hotel. Yes, the rooms look a bit dated but the cleanliness is impecable and the beds are extremely comfortable. As a plus, the sheets get changed every day. The beach is truly amazing - I have never seen clearer water. […] You can actually see some small fish swimming and, I hear, you can snorkel around it too. As a plus to me, the hotel is small so it has a cozy feeling about it. Some of the shortcomings are that staff even at the reception are not fluent in English and it just doesn't feel like there is strong management. Some small things could be better - like have more variety at the buffet (although the food itself was great and there were tons of healthy options), they could buy more swimming masks, etc. But, overall, this is a value hotel so don't expect lobster dinners but be realistic about where it stands on the price scale and thus the services you will get. But it is odd to see that faucets are opening in the wrong direction, no hot water because the pilot light was off - the plumber on duty came fast and reset it telling to wait 20 min to get hot water. Great news when you have a restaurant reservation in 15 min. Room service was coming between 3 and 5 p.m. when all civilized world is having […] a siesta... So we had to get up and leave to have our room cleaned or cancel until the next day. There is an ongoing drama between the condo people and the resort guests (condo buildings where we were staying are about half private, half resort operated. It's all about sharing the palapas and the chaises longues on the beach like we supposed to know the rules the locals are following. Remember to get up at 6-7 am to reserve yours, they VERY limited. Waiters are expecting you tips and if you don't, they remember you and make faces as they serve you. Maybe the staff should be reminded that we tipped them already. The location is fabulous. Our Ocean Front rooms was truly Ocean Front. The Beach is the best in the vicinity with soft white sand and great snorkeling literally steps from the shore. Water shoes are a must however, as there are some rocks and some very spikey sea urchins out further from shore. Beach chairs do really get snapped up before 6 AM, so plan […] on rising early to get a spot. Didn't see any kayaks, or where you could get snorkeling gear (brought our own). The biggest disappointment was the lack of communication from staff in regards to dinning options and the facilties in general. Many staff do not speak any English. The hotel meet our expectations and more....We played tennis and participated in yoga, water aerobics, and dance classes. The beach was beautiful and relaxing.

We had a wonderful relaxing time at BeLive (believe) Grand Mayan Resort. It is a hidden gem on the Mayan Riviera, away from all the busy life and fluff that one would find at the big and busy resorts. If you need to get away from it all, BeLive is a great place to go. The beach is less than 100 ft from the dining and activities centers, they have three […] large pools located near the resort rooms, and six restaurants to provide a variety of food styles. We enjoyed the Italian and Gourmet restaurants the best, plus the numerous bars around the grounds. It is not a Sandals or Secrets resort, but you will recognize that the people that go there are looking for a relaxing time at an affordable price! The staff was wonderful, outside of the main counter. If you wanted anything done, ask a bell-hop. The bell-hops were the "bankers", if you needed change, they were the go-to people.Akumal, a sleepy little community just south of the BeLive resort, is a great place to visit early in the morning, go snorkeling and see the turtles and fish, have breakfast and walk back along the shoreline to BeLive, about 3 km in distance. If you want loud, wild, night life, Playa Del Carmen has CoCo Bongo, just a 30km taxi ride from BeLive. . Did I mention that divers and snorklers come here from all over the world? A great diving reef to explore lies just off shore and stretches over ten kms. Lees meer

What a wonderful trip to the Riviera Maya. Be Live was a lovely resort, with really great staff. We were pleasantly surprised because we were'nt expecting much after reading all of the reviews. There were a few things that need improvement, as the hotel is aging, but the staff is always at work cleaning and maintaining the resort. Armondo, the hotel […] manager is amazing! He set up a lovely moonlit dinner for us on our last day. George the bartender is a blast...check him out on the rooftop bar after 11pm. The beach was beautiful...we snorkeled right off the beach and saw many colorful fish and reefs. I fell in love with the delicious fruit smoothies available in the pool bar. Try the Akumal smoothie. Yum! The food was good, especially in the gourmet restaurant. We ate the buffet for breakfast and lunch and made reservations for dinner each night in one of the five different restaurants. The reservations arent that hard to deal with. Just wait at 530pm each evening for a time either 630, 730 or 830. Beds were nice and soft. Grab your towel and chair as early as possible as it is true that they fill up quick and run out. We never saw anyone camping out on the sand, so people must ave found chairs. Tons of French Canadian and Argentinian people here...we were the minority as amercians, so that was interesting. Oh! Do bring your own insulated mug for drinks. I appreciate the hard workers on the Resort who were friendly and approachable at the bar, restuarants, cleaning services!!! However.......Our toliet ran all night which is very annoying on our 2 year anniversary vacation stay, when comfort mattered. The room had a VERY stale smell and you noticed cobb-webs in the corner, signifying the room had not […] been maintain for a while! I arrived at this Hotel after a dreadful flight with American Airlines ( delayed and lost baggage). I was pleasantly surprised to find that my garden view room was squeaky clean and stocked with clean towels, etc. The mostly young staff were very helpful to my every needs (even with limited English) and they looked so dedicated to their jobs.
