Embassy Inn in Washington

Ik had een kleine hotelkamer met geen bijzonder uitzicht, maar het voldeed verder aan al mijn wensen. Uitstekende en vriendelijke service. Zeker aan te raden.

The hotel clean and comfortable. My room was rather small but I was only there to sleep in the evenings. The neighborhood was quaint and close to the metro and restaurants. I felt safe walking around, even at night. I'd stay there again.

Had a great stay at this hotel while on business in DC. Room was very clean and it was quiet. The rooms have been updated since the website photos were taken. No frills though and not for people who want a lot of services, amenities, and grand lobby. Great location in DC and within a 10-15 min walk to DuPont Circle and Metro station. Overall experience was good. Had some problems with the A/C in the first room we got but the guy in the front desk was kind to help us and eventually gave us a new room with working A/C. Walking […] distance from the White House, appr. 20min walk. Breakfast wasn't really a breakfast we've used to: toast, bagels, coffee, donuts. But it was better than nothing. No parking which was a down side. They offer a parking garage a few blocks away which cost $20/day. You can park free in front of the hotel after 6pm and before 9am. We were quite disappointed. Arrived prior to 7:00am and told they could not tell us where the car park was for us to use. Neither car park was convenient to the hotel. TV repair took an unusually long time. Hotel is not handicap accessible.

But if you're looking for luxury, then this is not for you. The hotel room itself is not cleaned properly as we found food behind the nightstand from who knows when. And when fluffing up your comforter, it was very dusty so hope you don't have allergies. This was not a great stay for us. First of all, the person on duty nearly refused to honor the 2 beds needed for my family... 2 Adults, 2 Children was on the request. After we went round and round, he was able to find a room. The alley noice was impossible to sleep through! All the way until 2 A.M. party-goers were at it right outside of the window! […] The [apparent] newlyweds were a bit much right next door. Parking off site really does mean way far away in a sketchy garage that had a sliding scale on what we were going to pay. The hotel said $20 and they were asking for $35 (even though the sign stated $20 for over night). They neighborhood was lovely and a great walk to the metro and fabulous eats! As I stepped out of the shower in the morning and grab a towel, it was only then I noticed how damp and moldy smelling they all were. It was better to drip dry. Lees meer

The lack of parking made the hotel very difficult to access. i had to park two blocks away. I desk staff were difficult to understand. when i called the hotel, i was put on hold for 15 minutes and then the call was dropped. Accessibilty for the handicapped is all but lacking. No wheel chair access to front of hotel.

Close walk to restaurants in Dupont as well as on 14th and U streets. Room was cramped with 3 people in the 2 double beds but all we wanted was a place to sleep so that's fine (although it would have been nice if there were enough room between the bed and the desk to put the chair actually in front of the desk instead of next to it. . . ). Very quiet […] at night. Staff was fine except for in the morning when there were lots of guests trying to serve themselves breakfast in the small breakfast room and at least 3 staff women were in there trying to serve themselves food as well. A lovely little patio with table and garden out front was a good place to unwind. Cheap for the location. You get what you pay for but it was not an unpleasant experience. I'd stay there again. This little place reminded me a great deal of a European pension. The continental breakfast had real bakery bread, instead of Wonder bread, and instead of a noisy TV blaring, the breakfast Stube/room had lots of books. The service was good, and the location seemed safe and clean. I felt comfortable as a woman walking alone the several blocks' walk from […] the Dupont Circle Metro to the hotel, even at 10 p.m. at night. Only drawbacks: the electricity kept shorting out in the bathroom, and the single room was so small it was hard to get my carryon (!) suitcase into the bedroom when I arrived; the edge of the bed was that close to the door! Each time I had a problem with the electricity, the staff got it fixed, but it made me wonder why it happened two days out of my four-day stay. Overall, though, nice place, and fine if you are trying to save a few dollars while here on business or for a vacation where you won't be spending hours in the hotel itself. Lees meer

I had the room directly behind the front desk. It was very noisy in that room. I was awakened at all hours by the business occuring at the front desk. I should of asked for a different room, but alas I did not. All other aspects of the hotel were good. Hotel staff was very pleasant and accommodating.

Despite the small rooms the hotel is located in proximity to all museums and the embassies

We needed a place near Dupont circle and this hotel fit the bill. The rooms are small but very comfortable and while the front desk staff are a little bit less than helpful, they are certainly adequate. Hotel is conveniently located close to Metro. The room was small but well maintained and clean. There is no hotel parking so it is necessary to park on the street or enter a garage two blocks away. Breakfast was included and very adequate.

Overall the stay was great. Location and price were perfect for my needs. Room was small but fine. Only issue was the credit card process upon check in. Otherwise, I would stay again.

I travel to DC for work a lot and this was perfect for me! Quarters are a little tight but wonderful stay!

As long as you know what you're in for (small rooms, minimal luxuries, etc) this place is perfectly fine. Close to lots of bars/restaurants. We came down from Philly to see a show at the 9:30 club, which was about a 5 minute cab ride away. We basically wanted a clean room to crash in for the night. When they say "European" they mean the rooms. Small, like on the continent. Nice location and inexpensive. Good for the Black Cat and other venues near Dupont Circle, U st and Adams Morgan. Who wants to hang out in a hotel room anyway?

I needed a quiet room on a business trip near my meetings, and this was perfect. Very nice people at the front desk. One block from lots of good restaurants. Great bargain.

I found the Embassy Inn in Washington, DC and place that provided hospitality and charm...at a very reasonable price. Located in a mixed residential commercial area, within moments of entering the Embassy Inn, seeing the interiors and the welcome of the front desk receptionist, I knew this was a home with character. Hot water and tea materials available, […] classical music from NPR in the background, complementary Washington Post newspapers...and this was only the front entrance. The rooms were comfortable, nicely decorated and a continental breakfast was included. The hotel staff were all friendly and happy to help with any requests. I would highly recommend the Embassy Inn. I was in D.C. for one night and needed a reliable hotel in the DuPont Circle area that had breakfast. This place fit the bill, no complaints. The hotel looks better in person than the pictures illustrate. Great location, just off of 17th street nightlife. Walls are a bit thin, neighbors can be noisy. TV station list better than at other inexpensive places. Decent breakfast for the size of the place. Parking is a big downside, if you don't know the area.

Very nice small hotel for a good price. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms are extremely small with no closets. Good shower but no tub. WiFi free and reasonably fast. Breakfast very minimal. Had some problems with phones calling room to room.

Although there was charm with his small hotel in a great neighborhood just north of the White House, we had some issues, some of which were resolved. First, the room. It was below ground in the corner next to the maintenance room. The room was clean and simple but there was no closet...just a coat rack. So we had to drape our clothes on that. There […] was a vent in the room for heat but no heat and no thermostat on the wall. It got chilly that night so we called and told them about it and asked for an extra blanket. The night clerk called back and said there were no extra blankets in the hotel. In the early morning, the cleaning staff were having a great time in their cleaning room, banging around and laughing and joking at the expense of my sleep time and later my work. Also, the breakfast area was down the hall and there was noise coming from that area. The continental breakfast was okay but only one choice of cereal, Cheerios. Assorted pastries and bagels, coffee, tea juice. There was not enough room to seat but maybe 8 people so tables and chairs lined part of the downstairs hallway. Fortunately for us the weather was balmy the next night so the lack of heat was not an issue. But the third night was very chilly. We called the night clerk...he finally came with a space heater, which did help. The morning crew continued to be noisy. I talked to the day manager about the early and excessive noise and she thanked me for telling her. I also informed her of the lack of heat, which surprised her. She offered to move us and also show me two rooms. So I did find one of the rooms on the main floor to be satisfactory. The day management was curteous and helpful but the gentleman that worked at night was not too quick to solve problems or inform the day people of the issues. Although the location was really nice and it was very clean, for the other reasons I would not go back. I have had better service from a discount chain. Lees meer

First, the location was great and the staff I interacted with were very friendly. My only complaints were that the hotel is up off the street and there aren't ramps. That meas carrying your luggage up a bunch fo stairs to get in and to the front desk. Also, no accessable power outlet in my room anywhere near the desk. About a 10 min walk from Dupont Circle metro. Safe neighborhood; one block over, 17th St has several eating places and a Safeway. There was some confusion at check-in: the desk clerk could not locate my reservation and was about to send me to another property when suddenly he found my name. Single room on main floor: fan/heater, but centrally controlled. […] Clean bathroom and bedding; rug rather dubious. Breakfast was starch (muffins, donuts, bagels) but coffee and oj were above average for such a hotel. Some noise in my room from cleaning staff, and from plumbing from other rooms. It's a pretty hotel in a nice area, and the staff was nice. The room was a little cramped, and the bathroom had no fan. They had wall mounted LCD TV with a cable box sitting precariously on top of the TV and leaning back against the wall. Then again, they had good croissants with breakfast. I walked into this dirty shabby and run down environment and was immediatly disappointed. I waited as one couple from Scotland attempted to have their reservation located. It finally was after about ten minutes. While there another guest wondered if there really was only one lightbulb in his room, I suspected I had made a serious mistake. The first […] room I was offered was in the basement with barely enough room to walk around the bed and single window that was placed high on the wall looking at an adjoining building's blank facade 5 feet away. It was dark and timy. I complained and was offered another room on the first floor that was hardly any better. This is one of a four hotel chain and the desk clerk offered to have me go to one of the other hotels Hotel Baron. He put me in a cab and paid the fee. This hotel's room was larger and had large windows overlooking a busy thoroughfare. It was spartan but the room was clean. The halls were dirty and the carpets unvacuumed. Hotels dot com said this hotel allowed pets. i got there and was told there was new ownership and teh policy had changed and they were forbidden. Then I was told I would have to pay a $75 non refundable fee. Then finally they relented and charged me a refundable deposit. The brochure said they offerred complementary sherrry and snacks.
