Pepper Tree Inn in Tahoe City

This place is essentially a "basic" motel in a great location with some very thoughtful touches. It's smack in the middle of Tahoe City restaurants and shops and only a few miles to Squaw Valley or any of the other North Tahoe ski resorts. The Pepper tree inn was fantastic! Great breakfast in the morning and super friendly staff - they let us check in a bit early which was really nice. The hotel room was clean - great shower. I would definitely come back!

We recently stayed here for one night. The hotel is a bit older and the rooms are small. But they are nicely decorated. Our room had a small fridge and microwave and coffee maker which was nice. I would stay here again.

I'm not sure why all other reviews didn't mention how small the rooms were. I chose the pepper tree for its location and price. Pleased with both. amazing views of the lake. It was very close to alpine (5 min), squaw and northstar (20min). The staff were helpful and accomodating, but the floor still had sunflower seeds from the previous guests. Dont […] expect luxury. The lady who checked us in I believe was the co-owner and she was extremely nice and accommodating. My husband and I had arrived in the morning and check-in was at 3 p.m. And she gave us an upgrade with a room with a view of the lake. justt because. I was not expecting anything - we were the ones early.

several problems upon arrival - however, everyone was super nice and took care of us right away. best free breakfast at any hotel i have ever stayed at. LOVE Tahoe City - great central location and views. we biked everywhere we needed to be and free summer shuttle was right across the street. we'll be back!

Excellent location with a distant but clear view of Lake tahoe. Benefits from a small but well maintained pool and outsude seating. An excellent breakfast with a good choice of fresh goodies and drinks.

The staff was very helpful and courteous. We arrived a few hours before check-in time and instead of just telling us we were early and needed to wait, they found us a room that had already been serviced. The breakfast was very good, more than just the usual “Continental” breakfast for just coffee, juice, bread, and cereal. Probably the best thing about the hotel is the view from the tower. You look out your window or step out of your room and are greeted with a fabulous view of Lake Tahoe. The room was nicely decorated and the breakfast was actually not bad. We were close to stores and restaurants and had a nice view of the lake. The staff were exceptionally friendly. Great value for the money.

Good room, nice coffee machine, fast wireless, good breakfast, splendid location. Rent bikes opposite and bike the Truckee river!

We booked here because it is close to Squaw Valley Resort where we were skiing. The location is convienient, room was basic but clean and the bed was very comforable. Also, the extended breakfast is very good.

Not a bad little motel! Very convenient access to Northstar (20-30 min), Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley (15 min). Walking distance to shops and restaurants, across the street from the lake. The room was a little small (a queen and a double bed took up most of the space) and there was no DVD player for the tv, so you're stuck with their cable selection […] (not bad). We were worried about staying here due to the other reviews but was pleasantly surprised. We arrived late Friday (close to midnight), but we called ahead and they left the key for us. Covered parking was available! We stayed on the sixth floor and had a great view of the lake. The room was clean. The coffee machine was a grind-and-brew set up, which […] was impressive. Shower stayed hot 'n steamy all the way through. The only problem was that the heater didn't get very hot, but they had an extra fleece blanket. The big surprise was the nifty free gift package they gave us (lots of small knick-knacks) and the large breakfast spread -- waffles, burritos, muffins, hard-boiled eggs, cereal, etc. We were not expecting either. The hotel is conveniently located on the main drag, so walking to restaurants is easy. Close to Squaw (15 min drive) and Homewood resorts. While our room faced the road, it wasn't that loud at nighttime. We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel.The modest price meant that our expectations were not high, but the owners are obviously making an effort to offer a good product. Nothing special. I woke up to find dust all over my bags that sat in front of the heating duct. Not sure what was up with that. The kitchen table near the window would fall over if you looked at it wrong.

Good central location to everything in Tahoe City. Check in was fast and simple, the person who was there was okay, we arrived a bit early and were able to check in which was very nice. Great views from the balcony floors - 3rd floor and up. We stayed for 2 nights, the first night, two people were up talking very loudly next door until 2AM and you could […] hear them. The second night was better as no one is up talking. They also have a great balcony area up on the 2nd floor with plenty of chairs and tables with umbrellas so you can sit and enjoy the view or do a take out and eat at the tables. Great shower in our room. There is a swimming pool, but they don't have towels out and you have to ask. The breakfast area is good with hard boiled eggs - you knew that they were fresh because someone had penciled the date the the eggs!, pastries, french toast, waffles, bagels and cream cheese, selection of cereal. Good coffee and hot chocolate.There was always an attendant there to help out if necessary. So over all with the location, breakfast in the morning, and view, I would definitely recommend this place. The room is full of amenities - but what good is it if they don't work! There is no air conditioning and while it is No. Lake Tahoe and not that hot, you still need some ventilation. There was a fan, but the plug didn't work. The coffee pot was really nice, but again the plug didn't work. The hair dryer didn't work and had to run out and buy one. When […] I told them about the issues, the response was, "yea ok. We may be able to fix the plug, but I don't think we can do anything about the hair dryer". Needless to say, they didn't fix the plug either and I was there 3 nights. The bedding is very old and worn out. I didn't expect the Ritz, but I did expect things to work or at least respond to the need. The location is good and where I wanted to be. It is nice having the breakfast there. Lees meer
