Cheap hotel in new york of reasonable quality. Safe and the shared bathrooms are clean. Allright for budget hotel.

Buurt zelf, maar ook nabijheid van Union Square metrostation zijn grote plussen. Keurige kamer, incl badkamers op de gang. Wel vrij klein, maar ja 'this is New York'. Alleen is alles erg donker, met daaraan bijdragend behang; en onze kamer had nauwelijks daglicht.

fine and clean place on a very good location. Even if you need a hospital for an unplanned surgery. will be there next time visiting new york

Overall, I think there's a fair balance between price and quality here.

A very good choice if you don't want to spend too much money. Shared bathroom is cleaned multiple times a day. Bed is a bit small, but comfortable. Room comes with your own sink. Sleeping at the back side was very quiet. Nice neighborhood, close to the market, shops (Union Square) and restaurants.

We waren behoorlijk last-minute nog op zoek naar een betaalbaar hotel. Last-minute, betaalbaar en óók nog redelijke kwaliteit is een lastige combinatie in Manhattan. Bij de enkele opties die we vonden stond bij alle wel iets negatiefs. Uiteindelijk hebben kozen we voor Hotel 17 vanwege de redelijk centrale locatie. De keuze is ons goed bevallen. Hotel […] 17 biedt geen hyperdeluxe kamers met modern interieur. De kamers zijn (allemaal?) met gebruik van gedeelde badkamers. Netjes waren onze kamers in elk geval; geen "bed bugs" zoals je in veel recensies over Manhattan budgethotels tegenkomt. De badkamers waren steeds schoon en voorzien van prima sanitair. De service aan de frontdesk was (bijna) altijd vriendelijk en attent. Het hotel lag -in onze ogen- gunstig ten opzichte van alles wat de stad te bieden heeft. Als iets niet binnen loopafstand ligt, bereik je in 5 å 10 minuten de metro. Kortom: ben je voor een lage prijs op zoek naar een redelijk hotel op een goeie, centrale locatie in Manhattan? Eerst hadden we een kamer op de derde verdieping, waar het tapijt niet erg schoon was. Het sanitair was relatief proper, we hebben er eigenlijk geen last van gehad dat we niet op de kamer konden douchen. In de gang hing wel een vieze geur; toen we dat meldden aan het onthaal, beloofden ze meteen om ons diezelfde dag nog te verplaatsen. Hotel was goed gelegen, Amper 3 blocks stappen van union square (+- 5 min) aan union square heb je verschillende eetgelegenheden o.a. mc donals, noodels restaurant, whole foods supermarkt, walgreens, donuts, starbucks.... noem maar op. Aan union square heb je de metro: de gele en de groene lijn. bv gele lijn 3 haltes naar Times Square. De gezamelijke […] badkamer is zeer proper. 2 per gang. we reserved this hotel using hotels.com -- and is was a charm. commodities are basic, but it is clean, quiet and close to everything new york. i'd recommend it to everyone on a tight budget, looking for a place to sleep in nueva york. hell yes! the bed was on the small side -- but besides that: excellent place to sleep

Nothing special, no disappointments. A bit pricey for what you get but not entirely surprising for location in NYC.

Great neighborhood, clean, friendly staff, fair price but weak bed, shared bathroom, dated furnishings. Recommend breakfast at Bite on east 14th

I did not noticed the shared bathroom situation until I received my reservation confirmation. Have not stayed in this type of hotel since my 1982 college Summer Program in Europe. I only needed a place to crash for the night and take a shower so I said, why not. The hotel has been recently renovated, is a true European designed hotel in the Gramercy […] Park area of Manhattan. Great stay for that kind of money. Perfect location.

I've been a guest at Hotel 17 many times in the last 7-8 years. They have done a great deal of updating & refurbishing in the last couple of years, making it not just a great bargain but a nice place to stay. The location is convenient to the Union Sq farmer's market & subway, the Strand Bookstore & East Village shopping. I would recommend Hotel 17 […] to anyone who isn't shy about shring a bathroom! We really liked the location and the hotel was nice, clean. My only complaint was that we did not get maid service everyday and we ran out of clean towels other than that we were very satified.

i booked this hotel based on a review that said, i hate to make it public for fear i won't be able to get a resi next time. my daughter and i were only there for one night, but it definitely did not reflect budget. location, 3 blocks east of union sq. is fabulous. i hope to stay again, and wish they had a sister hotel about 20 blocks more uptown.

I wanted was a clean, inexpensive room for an overnight stay in New York. I understood that I would have to share a bathroom, and I was okay with that - I've done it before in other hotels with no problem. But I was disappointed in this hotel because there was NO SINK in my room, and only one of the bathrooms on my floor had a sink in it. This was extremely […] inconvenient, as I basically had to compete with everyone else just to brush my teeth and wash my face. The hotel room was small, but comfortable, clean, air-conditioned. Two bathrooms per floor with functioning utilities and very clean. Toiletries included, great price, highly recommend for a bargain stay in Manhattan.

As cheap hotels go, this one was excellent. Shared bathrooms but they were clean and there was rarely a wait. My one complaint is that I purposely put the "Do NotDisturb" sign on the door so I could sleep in but the maid burst in at 8am on Sunday! Stuff like that is easily fixed and I did inform the manager.

I've booked this hotel 3 times now through hotels.com and each subsequent time, only 2 weeks apart, the price has gone up for the same type of room. I needed to stay close to Beth Israel hospital, this is the closest hotel. It's very clean and well maintained, but there are absolutely no amenities and most rooms have a dorm-style "shared bath". There […] is free Wi-Fi but you have to ask for SSID, it's not touted anywhere at the front desk or in the room. There's a Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts 2 blocks away, as well as a good Italian deli (hot foods, salads, sandwiches, etc.). I would recommend this place if all you need to do is sleep and clean up at the hotel and spend the entire day sight-seeing or being near the hospital or Stuyvesant Town. Lees meer

The ONLY negative was the shared bath. I had to stand out in the hall both mornings to stake my claim and get in there! It was never clear to me how many rooms were sharing the bathroom...but I know I waited a LONG time both mornings before I was able to RUN it there.

Hotel 17 is a fantastic little european style hotel at a fantastic price for anywhere, let alone NYC. The shared bathroom is a non-issue- one is always free and they are always clean. Reasonably priced 24 hour parking garage and a breakfast cafe on the corner if you can't possibly make it to Union Sq without a cup of joe asap. Great place.

I've stayed at Hotel 17 several times - the rooms are simple but the location and the condition of the hotel is excellent. My room has always been spotless and the bathrooms (which are shared) have always been immaculate. This hotel may not be for everyone - if you need a lot of space or are expecting luxurious accomodations you may want to stay elsewhere. […] But if you are looking for a basic hotel with a great location at a very reasonable price, I encourage you to stay here. When ever I stay in Manhattan, This is the first Hotel I check to see if it's available. The location is great. The staff is wonderful. {Except for one of the front desk clerks named Qasim. He is not one of the nicest people you would like to meet, and would do much better as the luggage clerk. Take the luggage clerk they have now, and give him Qasim's […] job. It was close to the place I wanted to visit, and it was very clean. As many hotels they did not really use duvets, but blankets, which was kinda cold, but they provide extra if you ask for them. However their evening/night portier was very cranky and not at all helpful. Maybe it was because he was a night portier and therefore not equiped to do anything […] much - but then he could just say that with a smile on his face instead of making people feel like they were a huge inconvinience on his time. Beautiful old hotel, shared bathroom very clean and not a problem.

It has a privileged location near the L line of the subway. My nights there were absolutely peaceful and the overall look was pretty clean.

Must go places in greenwich village is the spotted pig, best food in manhattan! Rooms were a bit gaudy but that's the era they were going for with the rooms. Good location for the subway.

No bedbugs. Clean room. Convenient location and close to subway. Bed was comfortable. Decor was a little dumpy, but you don't stay in Manhattan for the hotel room. The hotel is centrally located and its easy to get anywhere from here. The pricing is very good. The shared bathrooms is a pain in rush hours. They got two bathrooms in each floor which has like 12- 14 rooms.

A very good hotel or hostel, depending on your definition. The room was clean and the bed quite comfortable. The bathrooms in the hallway were also very clean (but I still recommend shower shoes).
