Staff was nice. $10/day parking fee I wasn't expecting and room was priced a little higher than it should've been. Room was clean but a little dark - lights seemed to be energy efficient ones that didn't provide much light, especially light by the door. AC worked too well - had to get up in the middle of the night to turn it down - no auto setting just […] high, low and off. Bed was decent but nothing special. The parking was very unsafe and inconvenient. The room was old and nasty. The floors had unsafe spots where holes or broken boards were just covered with carpet. I cancelled the room the next day and was granted a refund for both nights. If I has not been on the road 10 hours, I would have found somewhere else to stay that night. I felt very unclean […] after leaving early the next morning. However the Holiday Inn Express south of Richmond in Chester was very nice clean and accommodating. Lees meer

This is an older hotel, but very nice. Our corner room was GIGANTIC. Probably the largest hotel room I've every seen. Would be ideal for a family that needed extra roll-away beds for the kids. It was very quiet, the pillows and bed were comfortable. Modern, flat-screen TV. Small microwave oven and fridge. Typical hotel breakfast included. The HIX is at the border of the downtown area, close to restaurants (the Capital Ale House is an easy walk), the Capitol, and within a few blocks from the main transit route on Broad Street. The hotel breakfasts were done with care and some creativity. We had a good stay that well-served our needs.

We only stayed one night in this Hotel but were very impressed with the lovely room, the friendliness of the staff and the very good quality of everything. A good breakfast room really set us up for our onward journey.

week-end "free" breakfast was disgusting. Commercial frozen/reheated egg patties!!! Very questionable sauage Sometimes "free" is too expensive. Desk employees unfriendly and unhelpful.

Great location for our needs. Staff informative and polite. Room and bath clean and bed comfty. Pretty good breakfast too.

This hotel is horrible, the towels were dirty on the first day as if they just re-folded it from a previous stay. They never came to clean our room the next day and when we complained to the front desk she said it's only one housekeeper to 3 floors. That's insane they need more staff. I was only in town for a quick overnight trip before a workshop. The hotel was perfectly adequate for my needs: a clean room, a bed, a shower, breakfast, and convenient to the downtown area where my workshop was held. (Breakfast was actually quite good!) I would stay there again.

It is my humble opinion that although the hotel was otherwise fine, Holiday Inn should NOT charge for parking. My daughter and I met there to attend a James Taylor concert and with both of us having to pay to park, the cost of our stay was driven up 20 percent. We stayed at this hotel while attending the CAA tournament. It was a little too far to walk to the Coliseum, especially in the rain, but it didn't matter since there was a lot of cheap parking at the stadium. The hotel was very modern for being in an older building. There was ample street parking. The breakfast was surprisingly good for a continental […] breakfast. The only down side was that there was an unpleasant odor in the room itself, buteventually got used to it and we didn't try to get a new room. The room itself was really clean, so I can't complain. My wife and I checked in between 6 and 7pm. As mentioned before, the room we reserved was not available and had to make due with almost a double-twin bed room. It was not all that clean, I believe there were crumbs in the bed and the room itself - along with the rest of the hotel - was in need of some TLC. You may be attracted to this hotel by the rates, […] but because of the unfriendly staff, extra parking fees and the outdated almost grungy feel I'd pay an extra 20 to 30 dollars to stay somewhere else. Check in was great very friendly front desk, left things in my room and got a call offering to mail them the next day, but I picked them up a few days later and the items were at the front desk and ready to be picked up as I was told they would be. I even decided to stay at the one in Charlotte this upcoming weekend.

Located in a very centric location, easy access from any place in town. Very nice rooms with very comfortable beds. Breakfast has many options. Only the bathrooms in the rooms were not remodeled completely but they are still very nice. This is the place I will stay during all my visits to Richmond.

The rooms and hotel service were fine enough, but the walls were super thin! My first night, I was kept up until 2 when I complained about the room next to me, and eventually went over myself. No less than 12 college kids packed into one room, smoking and drinking. They were impossible to try to tune out, and I had work the next morning. When I told […] the front desk there was a party in the room next to mine, they said they'd call to tell them to be quiet. I had hoped they would move my room. The call wasn't terribly effective, but luckily 20 year old partiers are easily intimidated by a disheveled 25 year old in pajamas. My second night, I heard a couple's all-night session. I would have slept better the third night, but the window did not have blackout curtains that could pull closed. The hotel staff was nice and friendly, but my experience was not satisfactory, even for a cheap rate. Initially we had a hard time finding the hotel because it was on a corner and we didn't see the sign, but once we found it we were quite pleased. The staff were very helpful, the room (King non/smoking) was really large and the layout of the room was really nice. Great place to stay and close / convenient to RIR. Had a great time.

I stayed here after the Richmond race. It is no frills and no extras, but was a decent price and was about 7 miles from the track.

Holiday Inn Express keeps a good standard. Nice hotel! Great price for the room and breakfast!

The hotel is just a few blocks from downtown and from the Civil War Center. The rooms are nice. The breakfast is basic, nothing fancy but passable. All of the staff are helptul, friendly, and courteous. It's probably the best hotel deal the you'll find in Richmond. There is a gym and other amenities.

The hotel staff is excellent. They were all very friendly, and all hadf answers to my questions about the Richmond area. I do a lot of walking, and I asked the gentleman at the desk where I could take a long leisure walk. He grabbed a large size map, and showed me where to go. It was a great walk! The only thing is, he didn't tell me there would be […] steep hills to climb, but I made it. The air conditioning in my room was inadequate, and I reported it when I checked out. Overall though, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Richmond. Lees meer

The room was quite large, extremely quite and very comfortable. The bathroom was large, bright and clean.

I have a F150 and found parking difficult. If you have a truck or van over 6 ft, to bad for you, you will need to hunt for a space in very limited outside parking area or find a street near with parking. Also it cost $10 a day to park at hotel. Other than that great large rooms. Very clean and good staff. I missed breakfast relaxing in comfortable  […] bed. Lees meer

the hotel was clean and coveniently located, plenty of free parking around and restaurants close by, the room had a slightly dingy smell but wasn't intolerable. However the hotel advertises free wi-fi internet access in everyroom, which it did have, but after about an hour of use the connection no longer worked, when I called down to the front desk […] to get them to fix it, the desk guy that checked me in gave me an 800 # to a tech support line, and told ME to call them and get help, of course I didn't want to spend my vacation time talking to computer techs attempting to correct the hotels wi-fi problem, so I asked to talk to the manager and was told that he was the only person in the hotel and he was busy checking people in, in the end, i had to talk to the tech guy and fix the hotels wi-fi myself if i wanted to have internet access, which i did. There was lots of noise in the morning that woke us up.

This is a very nice hotel- recently renovated, clean, bright and comfortable. The people who work there were extremely friendly and very helpful. An extremely nice hotel in the middle of downtown.
