Comfort Suites Beachside in South Padre Island

The front desk employees were very helpful & friendly. We had 3 different people attend to us & each one was great. I needed a safety pin so the young man behind the desk took about 1 minute to find me one, such a huge lifesaver! The only big problem for me was the smell when I walked in the room. Hotel is outdated. The hotel has primer all over from unfinished paint work. The room smelled terrible. The sheets and comforter were all stained. Towels were rough and stained. The hotel is very noisy, could never sleep. Called to the front desk several times, but they did nothing about it. On the second day the whole hotel smelled liked up a backed […] up sewer. This is the first time we stay at the Comfort Suites; we have visited the Island for so many years and tried all kind of accommodations: hotels, condos, beach houses. I was really impressed with this hotel and the surrounding area. Right in the heart of the Island. Room very clean, spacious, really good for a family of 5. Highly recommended!!!

comfort suites beachside was a great place to stay, you were close to the beach and mcdonalds, plus alot of stores that had some pretty good stuff in them. this hotel is deffinatly one that i would reccomend to others.

Great value. Easy beach access, huge room where you can be very comfortable, even for an extended stay. Breakfast way better than any others we've experienced. We will definitely return whenever we go to South Padre.

Check in was a hassle... The person in the front desk was a bit rude and left me alone trying to check in while she went and spoke with her supervisor for a room that was paid for previously. My room's tv remote did not work and it was not fixed before my departure. The chair on the desk was missing a rolleer so it was hard to use. I would not stay […] in this hotel again. Lees meer

Great location, great price, great people! We truly enjoyed our stay. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was a little outdated, but very clean and comfortable. Awesome breakfast! Nice location, right near all the attractions and they even have beach access. Couldn't beat the price either.. i have been staying at Comfort Suites on Padre for 4 years now. I love this place. The prices are good, they are always friendly and the rooms are comfortable. My only problem I have with the hotel is the A/C system. I can never get the temp adjusted the way I like. The a/c works but just hard to adjust the right setting.

Although there was access to the beach, i did not realize you could NOT see the beach from the first and second floor - it is not ON the beach. I would have been willing to pay more for a hotel ON the beach. The ground floor room we initially had smelled moldy. The staff was VERY accomodating and friendly.

Everything was excellent!!

We've never had any problems in the past when we've stayed at this hotel but this last time they had a roach problem. We found roaches in the bathroom and even.inside the refrigerator where we were keeping our food. It made us wonder what types of insects we were sleeping on at night.

The hotel room was very nice. I was pleasantly surprised as the suite was actually a nice King bed in one room and 2 Queens and a sofa bed in the other. We could close the door for privacy. In the room with the King Bed, we had a table that was missing chairs and were not brought to us until the next day. The Jack and Jill bathroom was great. The shower […] is not the best. Very low water pressure and only slightly warm water, not hot! Other than that the room was great. The one thing I did not like and did not appreciate, I'm on PST zone and traveling to a CST time zone. I specifically chose this hotel to have the breakfast buffet to save some time. They closed the breakfast at 10am, which is 8am to me and my family, so both days we missed the breakfast and the front desk staff acted as if it's not their problem and could care less. The website I booked off of showed open til 11am. Like I said, the staff didn't much care. Outside of this and the poor shower, this was a nice hotel. The pool was heated and clean, the hot tub could have been hotter - like the shower, not very hot. For the other reviews complaining about the walk to the beach, they are ridiculous. Yes you walk a bit, but if you're there in the summer, the concrete and sand will burn your feet and thongs, where ever you walk from. Every summer I lose a pair of thongs to melting from the heat of the concrete and sand. It's normal. You can't expect that 90+ or 100+ days, the sand or concrete would not be hot. I still cant believe that I lived at a very good place at a resonable price. Above all, nice and spacious suite and very nearby easy access to beach. I must say that for my successful trip, this suites had play the great part.

Our stay was very pleasant. The hotel staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The free breakfast was very good. The only bad part of our stay was that there was a palm tree, not only outside of our room but IN our balcony. And on that palm tree are many ANNOYING crows that are very loud and do not let you get a good nights sleep. Please trim those […] trees and figure out something to do about those birds... Lees meer

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The inside could use some updating. The carpets are worn and the walls could use paint. These can be overlooked but there is only one chair in the room and a very low sleeper sofa. My husband and I both have back problems and couldn't use it to sit on so one of us got the chair and the other the bed. We did […] get one of the 3 rooms with a view of the gulf between two buildings. The walk to the beach is short. My husband loved the waffles they served for breakfast. It is a good place to stay. We had our children with us and they loved the pool and breakfast. The walk to the beach was private and nice. The hotel staff was very friendly and courteous. The rooms are bigger than we expected them to be. You would have to try to find something bad about this place.

hotel was nice, the contential breakfast could of had more variety.. i also went down one morning to get a waffle and it was near time for the breakfast ending, but the housekeepers were making there waffles and when i stood there to make myself one ,one of the housekeepers turned and told me that the bar was closed they were just making themsleves […] one... i thought this was a bit rude... since there were plenty of people still in the breaksfast are eating.. Very attentive and courteous staff. Clean but damp room. Loud air conditioner. Great beds and pillows. Appropriately priced.

Very comfortable mattress, clean room, close walk to the beach.

The room was not bad, Birds kept singing all night long at the location we were in as it was a corner room and had a tree and light which kept the birds awake. Location is horrible. Entering and leaving hotel is a hazard. I will never use that hotel again or recomend to anyone. Have a wonderful day.

This Hotel is Great! Very Welcoming! We went to SPI for the weekend and could not fully enjoy the beach due to an unusual amount of Jellyfish. However the hotel went above and beyond normal courteousness to assure our weekend was a GREAT ONE! We really enjoyed the walk way to the beach and it was very quiet area. When you walk to the beach make sure you wear tennis shoes the sand and concrete is so hot it will put blisters on your feet. our room was not cleaned like it should of been. We would go to the beach and spend all day and come bace around five and we would have to stand in the hallway while we waited for them to clean our room. That just silly. When […] we checked in there was a piece of cereal against the wall on the forth day when we checked out the cereal was still there. On the first day we went into the gift shop to get a soda and they were a buck and a half. From that point on there was always a different price. My wife question the desk clerk and thay said oh thats ok just give me a dollar. I travel alot and I've always stayed at L.Q. and Best Western but this time we gave Choice hotels a chance and I'll tell you never again and I'll make sure to spread the word. Lees meer

Beware!!! Hotel has a small gift shop in lobby and you can purchase drinks, etc. We stayed three nights and all three nights were charged different amounts for the same soda's. The first night they were $1.00 each, second night $2.00, and third night $2.50. When we questioned them the second night they pretended not to understand us due to the language […] barrier. The third night the guy said "oh ok $2.00 a peice will be ok". ALSO BEWARE of walkway to beach. They have a concrete walkway heading from hotel to sand, but when you reach the sand furthest from the water IT IS SCOLDING HOT!!! IT BURNT THROUGH MY FLIP FLOPS AND LEFT BLISTERS ON MY FOOT. We began running trying to reach the concrete and the hot sand was hitting the back of our legs. It is a pretty good walk from the concrete slab to the sand closest to the water, so you can imagine being unprepared and burning while trying to run in sand. We mentioned this to the staff and they would not offer us any other way to get to beach area and even said they didn't understand what we were trying to say. Apparently due to the language barrier. There are NO signs posted warning of this. After the first day we didn't go back to the beach until after sundown when we could actually walk on the sand. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITION! Several of the guest were complaining and nothing was done. We called the corporate office to complain, but they totally ignored the issue. Other than these two things the hotel was ok. Not the cleanest. Found a pubic hair on notepad beside bed. The ocean is amazing and definately a nice trip, but would choose another hotel due to these concerns. They are major issues. Lees meer

Hotels.com helped me out of my mess! I needed to be close to Corpus and made a reservation for a hotel on the wrong padre island. The staff is great; I appreciated how the male employee treated me when checking in, he was very kind and helpful. There were many men in the lobby when I checked in, I did not feel threatened but did appreciated the way […] he made sure not to anounce my room number outloud, instead he pointed the number to me. This should be a practice at all hotels for the protection of the guest. The facility was clean, it was nice to have real plates, cups and silverware in the room. A/C worked well. The breakfast is very light. Would stay again if I am in the area. Lees meer

We enjoyed our stay at the Comfort Suites Beachside. The location was good - although it would have been nice to have a wooden walkway to the beach. We were a little frustrated that we couldn't get ice from any machine (2 were broken and others empty) and had to go to McDonald's next door for it. Also, after we got home, we realized that our debit card […] had been taken out of my husband's wallet while it was in the room. The number was copied and purchases were attempted in California the next day. Lock up your valuables! We can only assume this happened when we were at the beach by a cleaning person. Lees meer

The hotel was not bad at all. Room had a musty smell from the humidity. One draw back was the entrance to the hotel. The entrance was narrow and kind of hard to find. The other was the hotel had beach access with no tents your chairs for the guests.

Hotel was great only problem was the walk to the beach and the hot, hot sand. Other surrounding hotels had mats/ walkways but the comfort suites did not. My feet actually were burnt while using sandals. Very dangerous condition.

We were looking for a hotel last minute, and were concerned with some of the reviews made on this particular hotel on this and other websites. it seemed there were negative reviews wherever you looked. We decided to try this hotel during July 4th week. What a pleasant experience. Some of these people that write these reviews are either bitter, or just […] miserable and unable to please. The rooms were wonderful. The A/C worked great. Everything was clean and presentable. The breakfast was delicious and full of choices, especially since it was "complimentary". I would have to say that the one part that i didn't care for too much was the walk to the beach. Instead of being directly in the sand, you had to walk out of the hotel, down a private sidewalk-like path for about 2 minutes, and then you hit the sand for the beach. Yes, it was "beach access", but not directly on the beach. This wasn't a big deal to me, but if i had traveled with my small children, it couldve been a pain if i had to keep running back and forth. You know that always happens. So, be aware of that. Parking was fine, and well lit. There are a bunch of little shops and places to eat, all within a few minutes walking distance from this hotel. There is a mini-golf across the street, and if you have a car you will be literally 5 minutes from anything, including the dolphin tours, sea turtles, and the main bridge that gets you to and from the island. CVS is also 1 block away. The best thing that we found was the suite on the 1st floor that we stayed in. it was 2 seperate rooms. Each room had its own bathroom, and was joined by a seperate bathing area with a jetted tub. Definetly worth a few extra bucks. The front staff were exceptional too, and very concerned with the comfort of our stay. This was a great hotel, don't let a few bad reviews fool you. Lees meer

This hotel was perfect for us. Perfect location with easy access to everything.

Very friendly, decedent continental breakfast, nice that they have a laundry room in almost every floor. The pillow could be better as well as the T.V. But overall experience was nice!! I loved that the beach was near and that it was very clean. Good Location. Everything was in walking distant.

Overall stay satified, Great location for the price. My personal experience during breakast was good. The girl servicing the lobby breakfast was great. The only down side was when my room was being cleaned, the personnel would put blankets and comforters on the sandy dirty floor, then back on the beds. VERY disaappointed in that aspect. if you like a quiet, relaxing stay, this side of the island is just that. It is close to some of the attractions, but far away from the padre island part.

Hotel was packed! Staff worked their azzes off and did a great job! Maid service's were great and always their to help! Nice safe family environment. Staff is very observant of customers and their children and helped bunches with my 2 little monsters! Thanks Guys!
