Vriendelijk personeel, erg service gericht. Praktische locatie; metrostation voor de deur. Snelle en goede roomservice. Het hotel was netjes en schoon, veder niets op aan te merken dus.

Stayed for one week for a sightseeing visit . Pluses: clean, helpfull staff, view from pool area, close to Ramblas /harbour. Minuses: small pool area (go to sundeck), expensive minibar, our room had no daylight (probably should have asked for one). Lively neighbourhood, although somewhat dodgy streets to Ramblas. Het was een mooi hotel met veel comfort. Mooi zwembad op de 10e etage. Enige nadeel vond ik de drukke straat met veel verkeer. Verder centrum en haven op loopafstand Rita (6/9/2011)

Prima hotel, ongeveer 10 minuten lopen vN de ramblas, Zeer nette ruime kamer (3 personen) Zeker een aanrader voor stedenstrippers. Ontbijt was ook prima.

Al voor we arriveerde emailcontact gehad met de receptie van het hotel en praktisch per kerende mail antwoord ontvangen. Een zeer keurig ietwat modern ogend hotel met zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. De ligging op loopafstand van de haven, een metrostation en onder andere Rambla maken het een uitsekende uitvalbasis voor de bezichtiging van […] Barcelona. Genoten van het kleine zwembad op de tiende verdieping en daarmee ook het uitzicht over Barcelona. Het hotel lag voldoende ver van de haven/Middelandse zee dat de soms hardnekkige zeemist geen invloed had op ons zonovergoten verblijf. Lees meer

Erg vriendelijk personeel. Goed eten in het restaurant van het hotel. Gezellige bar. De kamers zijn erg schoon en netjes. Ik geef het cijfer 9.

Mooi hotel dichtbij metro en haven. Schone en luxe kamer. Wij zaten op de 9e verdieping (bovenste met kamers, nummer 903, 10e etage is zwembadje) en hadden groot prive-terras wat we helaas door koud weer niet echt hebben gebruikt. Wel mooi uitzicht! Kamer is niet heel groot, maar groot genoeg voor 2 personen die eigenlijk alleen maar overnachten. Goed […] kingsize 2persoonsbed. Badkamer met luxe bubbelbad en bidet. Enige kleine nadeel is misschien dat als je stilte gewend bent, je beter niet aan de straatkant kunt zitten i.v.m. verkeer en sirenes. Lees meer

De titel zegt het al. Ik zou zo weer heen gaan. 3 Dagen met mijn vrouw naar Barcelona. Verbleven in Hotel Barcelona Universal. Top ligging. Zeer snel op de Rambla. Hotel uitlopen en ca. 30 meter naar rechts kun je de trap af naar de Metro. Helemaal top. Hotel netjes, vriendelijke mensen. Wifi (niet heel sterk maar voldoende om te kunnen internetten […] en mailen - Voipebuster verloor telkens zijn verbinding - jammer). Eerste dag kwamen wij heel vroeg aan. Spullen netjes achter mogen laten - kamer was nog niet klaar - kregen een bonnentje voor onze koffer en we konden de stad in. Hebben een Metro kaart gekocht voor 3 dagen. Deze kaart is ook geldig voor sommige bussen (hebben wij niet gebruikt) en de trein terug. Wij zijn overigens vanaf het vliegveld Barcelona met de trein naar CS gereden in Barcelona en daar met de metro verder gegaan. Dan stap je dus uit voor je hotel (Halte Paral - Lel). In de hotel kamer Kingsize bed. TV. En nette badkamer. Ontbijt buffet 's morgens (hadden wij er bij geboekt) was ook heerlijk. Ruim voldoende assortiment. Let in Barcelona erg goed op voor zakkenrollers. Top 3 dagen gehad. Gaan echt nog eens heen. Lees meer

keurig hotel met vriendelijk, behulpzaam en net hotel. Ondanks drukte weinig 'last' van lawaai van medegasten. Gesitueerd vlakbij Metrostation waardoor heel Barcelona makkelijk bereikbaar is, zelfs de buitenwijken. Is er dan niks jammer: ja dineren is niet echt gezellig doordat er weinig gasten gebruikmaken van restaurant toen wij er waren. Dit in tegenstelling […] met het ontbijt en er was een wachttijd om te gaan ontbijten. De aanvulling van het buffet dan kan beter logostiek geredeneerd. Het hotel ligt perfect gelegen aan het metrostation Paral Lel. Van daar uit perfecte verbindingen met metrolijnen 2 en 3. Ook zijn een heleboel bezienswaardigheden binnen loopafstand. Zoals Mont Juich, de fontijnen en dus ook Place Espagna, de Ramblas.

Keurig hotel op loopafstand van de Ramblas , direct aan een metrohalte en dus perfect voor verder bezoek Barcelona. Dakterras niet erg groot maar groots uitzicht en wel heel comfortabel. Ontbijt goed. Zeker aan te bevelen.

Een prima hotel, verzorgde kamers, redelijk ruim en netjes. De bedden waren niet doorgezakt en zelfs iets aan de harde kant. Wij hadden twee kamers. Eén had uitzicht op de wat rommelige achterkant van het hotel. De andere was had alleen een raam voor wat licht zonder uitzicht en kwam daardoor wat somber over. Deze kamer was echter wel rustig gelegen. […] De andere was duidelijk wat rumoeriger en als u licht slaapt zijn een paar oordopjes aan te raden. Dit is een uitstekend hotel, uiterst vriendelijke service, heerlijke lounge, goede wijnen, zeer goed bereikbaar vanaf het vliegveld, uitstekende uitval naar het stadshart. Een aanrader! Wij gaan hiernaar terug!

After several visits to Barcelona, I think I finally found the hotel I want to come back to for the future. Clean, modern, good location, and modestly priced (at least when we booked it). The rooftop swimming pool with the great view over the city is really the icing on the cake.

The hotel was clean and neat, the staff very helpful, and the bathroom was great. We also found the price fair and reasonable. The view out of the back of the hotel was not the best- apartment back porches and dirty laundry, so keep the curtains closed.

would have preferred a room with a window but it worked as not in the room much

The Universal is in a good, non-touristy location about a 15-minute walk from the Rambla and exudes "fancy." Our room, however, was the most uncomfortable we've experienced in many a year. The walls, draperies and upholstery were charcoal grey, and the only natural light came from a frosted glass window that opened onto an air shaft. Hotel was fantastic, in a great location with Metro stop instantly outside the front door making anywhere in the city easy to reach in no time. staff were great& helpful. Sampled the breakfast 1 day, no a massive selection but not scarce neither. Overall this was a fantastic stay& would recommend it.

This is a fine modern hotel only a 5-minute cab ride from the port. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. A short walk to Las Ramblas. Friendly, helpful staff and a good value.

Food in room service not very hot, in fact the tea and coffee were cold. The snack was not what we imagined, however the rest of the hotel services were very good - Thank you to the most helpful staff

Very nice hotel, on busy road and very convienent for metro which gets you anywhere Las ramblas 5 min walk as is port plenty of bars and Rest. Would use again would choose back room. Staff very helpful.

hotel staffs are good in behave. The position of the hotel is so good. Noise from nearby road is high, the windows are not soundproofed. Breakfast is very expensive. If you eat out, you get to eat as good breakfast with only a one third of the hotel rate. The hotel not appears to be a real four star.

Pleasantly surprised by amenities (internet, computers, restaurant, pool). Staff were very helpful and attentive. The breakfast was excellent both in variety, quality and cleanliness.

I recommend the Hotel Barcelona Universal to anyone going to Barcelona. It is near everything including a short walk to the Mediterranean Sea. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and wonderful. Breakfast each morning was delicious and the staff very courteous. The only downfall was the traffic noise. If you're sensitive to noise, this isn't the hotel […] for you. It's on Avenue Parallel which is busy 24 hours a day. We stayed on the 5th floor (I think out of 10). Stay on 10, will be quieter. Lees meer

This hotel was located about three blocks from la Rambla where there are many stores and restaurants. Overall the location is ok and the Metro is located about 50 feet from the hotel which is very convenient for easy travel on an excellent train system. The only drawback that I experienced is that the cleaning staff is extremely loud when cleaning and […] vacuuming the hallway and adjoining rooms it sounded like construction going on in the hallway, also a phone charger and camera charger were removed from my room by the cleaning staff and the front desk really didn't offer a solution, everything else was kept in the in room safe but chargers seemed safe to leave out of the safe. Overall the hotel is ok for the price and close to transportation and very clean. I would recommend the hotel just secure all of your items. Lees meer

Booked the hotel for a mid week stay and was very satisfied. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Breakfast had a great selection that was constantly topped up (recommend the mini muffins!). Location is great for the metro and the ramblas. Rooms were a generous size and clean and comnfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is a very good one. Nicely decorated and the staff are very friendly and security is good. However; my wife and I are in our 60s and we were robbed twice in Barcelona clearly being targetted as tourists. Once near the hotel when my iPhone was grabbed by a runner, and the second away from the hotel when a scooter mounted the pavement and two […] guys on it grabbed my wife's bag, knocking her to the ground. We told the hotel that hotels in the city need to put pressure on the Mayor and the politicians to have a zero-tolerance policy, but after years of this they seem incapable of action. Tourists should boycott Barcelona until something is done. If you must go there do not bring cameras, bags (of any kind), wallets, credit cards or anything but your immediate cash needs with you. If possible dress like a local and look agressive. And if you are robbed, don't bother the police, the mayor or the hotels: they couldn't care less. Lees meer

Hotel staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional. Convenient location to the Gothic quarters, and the port.

This hotel is placed in very convenient spot, no doubt about. Literally few meters from metro station, getting to all interesting areas of Barcelona is easy. Hotel staff is helpful, maybe not smiling all the time, but helpful and professional. Unfortunately placement of this hotel is also it's curse. If you won't get room on highest floors you will […] not have a quiet stay. Night life in Barcelona is very extensive and I had a feeling that big part of it is focusing around Universal :) You can hear people, you can hear cars, you can hear everything. Maybe it is possible to get quitter rooms, we did not ask. But if you are a party person yourself and you're not planning going to bed early I don't see a reason why not to choose this hotel. Great service, location and hospitality. Only that rooms are to noisy

Hotel staff sooooo great nice and helpful. Hotel is just a 10 minute walk to La Rambla and a 2 minute walk to an awesome quiet paella restaurant going the other way. They upgraded our room and it was quiet clean and comfortable. One English tv station was comforting after being out all day walking around. I would stay there again for sure!!!

Good location near the subway system... easy assess to everything but away from the noise of la rumbla.

They hotel was very nice and clean. The staff was very friendly, professional and informative. They had all the tourist locations, the hop on hop off bus tours etc. If you want to take the train its right outside the hotel to the left, just a minute or two walk. The metro stop is cross the street and to the right of the hotel. The cabs also stop by […] frequently to the hotle as well. Very good location close to La Ramblas but not too close. Well within walking distance. Family friendly as well. Had a crib already in the room for my 6 month old son. The room was very nice and spacious. The walls are kind of thin but living in Europe everywhere you go the walls are thin. Thats just the way the buildings are constructed out here. Definitely recommend anyone to go. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. We will definitely stay there again when ever we come back to visit. Lees meer

Location of the hotel is very good - a 5 minute walk to the bottom of Las Ramblas (seafront side) and 15 mins to Place de Catalunya. The metro stop outside the hotel is very handy for getting the metro to Barceloneta, the beach and the zoo. The hotel staff were very helpful. We didn't have any food in the hotel so I can't comment on that aspect of […] the hotel. Hotel is ok but should be rated 3 stars. Ventilation in bathroom did not work! Staff were extremely rude. Since this hotel does not provide a kettle in the room, we asked for a cup of hot water (we had our own tea bags). The answer was no, period. They wanted us to order a cup of water with room service. When we said we didn't want to pay room service […] for our own cup of tea and that we would go down to the cafe to get it, they said no no no. On checkout, they wanted to charge us for breakfast although we didn't take breakfast. They showed us a receipt with someone's signature and argued with us when we said we never had breakfast at the hotel. The were extremely rude about it too. If the hotel is cheap, then it's fine. We travel extensively and this was my second visit to Barcelona. Wonderful, elegant hotel in a fantastic location--5 minute walk to Las Ramblas, and literally steps to Metro. I had requested a room at the rear of hotel, away from the main street, and was given a lovely room with it's own private patio. Our room and bath were both reasonably spacious […] (especially by European standards), elegantly furnished, updated and very clean. We also had no issues with noise. We found the multi-lingual staff to be friendly and extremely helpful, accommodating our requests for local restaurants--there are several very good ones within a block or two--and information regarding the many points of interest. We were even offered the loan of an umbrella one evening when it rained. We were quite pleased with the breakfast buffet--it was very extensive with both hot and cold offerings, and the hours of operation were quite convenient for us. The buffet always kept us satisfied until our late afternoon "tapas and sangria" break! All in all, a fantastic stay, we would certainly return and we recommend it highly. Lees meer

The hotel is perfect for the price,the only thing that really disterbe is the noise from the street that came out and you can not sleep very calme ...so rooms not on the street said will feet every one. So in the total the stay was excellent but... Thanks

hotel was very nice, staff were very helpful and friendly. breakfast was excellent plenty of everything up to 11 o clock which is great when on holidays, everything was very fresh and a good variety. the surrounding area does not meet the great standards of the hotel.
