Aston at the Maui Banyan in Kihei

None of our pre-holiday research had advised us to stay at Kihei, all the focus seemed to be Lahaina and Hana (which we stayed at for longer periods) and we only stayed here for our last night for convenience to the airport. We were therefore very pleasantly surprised to find that Kinhei was such a nice place, perfect for young families, a lovely beach […] right across from the hotel and many restaurant choices very close by, in a nice looking neighborhood. The Aston itself is quite dated but still very comfortable and friendly, the rooms are spacious and clean despite their age and the pool area was nice with numerous BBQ's available for use. Although the front desk clerk was very personable, the hotel room at Maui Banyan were very outdated. They are in dire need of a major renovation. The room did not feel clean and it was very small. Would not recommend this hotel.

GREAT and FRIENDLY service!

Our stay was pleasent until the third night when the fire alarm went off at 1 am. It stopped around 3am. So the loss of sleep was quite frustrating and the only compensation was that they waived the charges for wifi (not free).

We stayed at the partial ocean view delux. The suite was super, with a huge lanai. However the view of the ocean was merely partial - a tiny tiny bit. But it's just 3 min walk from the ocean, just across the street from the complex, so we did not mind too much. There are couple of restaurants and a small marketplace within 2 min walk from the hotel, […] so it's very conveniently located. But keep in mind this is not the main tourist spot. Wailea beach is about 5 min drive south and lahaina is 40 mins drive north (longer than to airport which was not apparent from the map), those are the places dense with tourists. There is a nice beach right across the street though, where I saw few people hanging around. We were told by receptionist delux rooms were renovated, non delux were not as nice. So keep in mind. The location to everything was great and the staff was friendly enough but the room itself was a standard room. No glasses for drinking water or cups for coffee. The matresses were very uncomfortable and our room was not vacumed when we arrived.

We booked to stay at this place as it was right on a swimming beach and walking distance to shops etc.When we arrived they said they couldn't fit us in and had moved us to another place. This new place was a considerable distance down the road if we didn't have a hire car would have cost us taxi ride.Although new place was nice-room what we had asked […] for and had a pool and spa it was not on a swimming beach or walking distance to shops. It close to everything but location is perfect. If you tight on budget, it is a nice choice.

The Maui Banyan was an excellent choice of a home away from home for our recent family vacation in Hawai"i. The accomodations were clean and comfortable. The grounds were well manicured and presented an atmosphere of a lush tropical paradise. The staff was friendly and attentive. The price was reasonable, (by Maui standards). The front desk crew were incredibly helpful and friendly. Really made our short stay pleasurable. The room was nice, the pullout couch impossible to sleep on though. Since this was a condo rental, I can't speak for all rooms as they are individually furnished. Finding the fan controls was a little difficult, a/c was available but we had acclimated to […] fans only and didn't need it. The beds were a little saggy. The bed spreads were dog earred. the air conditioner didn't work, but the weather was cool enough that we didn't need it. However we only needed it one night as we planned to stay at a friend's condo for the next week near by. You get good location, cheap big rooms, kitchen, decent pool/bbq area. You also get, ants, clogged drain, terrible beds/linens, little warm water. Would def stay again, just know what you are getting into. Its not an actual hotel but a condo complex that Aston books the vacancies for. So you can see how some corners are cut.

The bed felt very old. The water was turned off for 7 hours in the middle of the day.

EXCELLENT HOTEL!!, perfect for our family of 5, we booked a 2 bedroom apartment which was absolutely fabulous, all recently remodeled, with brand new appliances (full kitchen, washer, drier, which saved us a lot in food) and all the comforts that you need for a pleasant stay. The hotel staff was always very nice, upon arrival they give you coupons and […] discounts for local shops and even though we got there 2 hours earlier than check in time, they managed to get our room ready within an hour. The hotel is located in South Kihei, very close to Waimea, across the street from the beach, so you can walk there or take a short drive to any of the amazing beaches to the south. 100% recommended! Family stayed for two nights in a fully appointed suite. Had all utensils and a 20lb bag of ice, already in the freezer! Pool was clean, has grills (3) for preparing poolside meals. Will plan to cook IN the next time we visit Maui. Highly recommend.

Just know that you are booking a budget hotel room NOT a condo. It is a very small room . TINY outdated bathroom- no tub thin bath towels. The balcony was very small no room to sit facing forward on a chair you have to sit sideways- no joke. Fridge no microwave. Old noisy window air conditioner that made the entire room smell musty. First room we were given had blind panels missing. Requested another room which was acceptable. Although old, the room was clean and quiet. Location of hotel was good with beach,shops and restaurants close by and good parking facilities. Great location in Kihei, across the road from Kamaole Beach. No luxuries and the room is on the smaller side, but was very clean and well maintained. Just as expected and at a reasonable price.

It's a condominium complex with tiny hotel rooms. The resort is too big. Two small pools that are crowded even when the place was semi empty. Uncomfortable to load and unload luggage to and from the room. It could be better.

This was a great place to stay, large room, comfortable bed, great kitchen and well stocked. The lanai was perfect with plenty of room. The grounds were very well maintained and beautiful. The pool area very well kept and plenty of sitting. We had a red-eye flight out and the hotel let us keep our pool key after we checked out at 12:00. We were able […] to hang by the pool and then at 6:00pm they provided us a free complimentary hospitality room that we could use to shower to get ready for our late flight - that was great, we felt like we had an entire day free!!! The room needed a deep cleaning and refresh. Baseboards were filthy, and the carpet was coming up at the edges. Towels were skimpy and dingy. Little ant-like bugs were everywhere. First impression was that the hotel needs to be updated, refreshed. But that issue quickly receded, as the location was superb. Right across the road from Kamaole Beach. This was our second stay at the Maui Banyon. It is a really great place and quite economical. During this stay, we had a room close to the main road, which meant less walking and a great view of the ocean. On a previous stay we were further up the hill and the room overlooked an empty field. It stinks you get hit with a surcharge for the safe. The smaller hotel rooms do not have access to washer and dryer which would have been nice. The grounds were amazing. Two pools, hot tubs, and grills everywhere for quests. A very close walk to nice restaurants. When returning to Maui we will definately have the Maui Banyan on our short list of places to stay. Great location and easy access to nearby beaches. In fact, there's a beach right across the street. There's a shower located right when you come into the parking lot, making it so much easier to get rid of all the sand that's still stuck on you. Our room was very clean. Even if you don't need room service, housekeeping still leaves a bag of clean towels […] outside your door daily. There are a huge variety of restaurants nearby if you don't want to cook. This place was clean and very close to the beach and good food. The only negative was that while some rooms have washers and dryers some don't, and if you get a room without, there are no laundry facilities on site.

This is a good little time share lock off location where you get hotel rates, but not the dingy roach hotel feel. Not too bad for the price paid in the location

This was a lock off timeshare that we stayed in. It was not a bad place, it was simply an older place with a window air conditioner unit. The apartment worked in all ways, including the mini fridge with a separate freezer. I would recommend it as a cheap alternative for a lower cost place to stay. Just remember, it's not the Ritz!

Only downside was the lighting (poor) in bathroom and bedroom, sink faucets didn't work properly.

The room was clean and tidy, though it had tile on the floors of the hotel room, rather than carpet. Felt like you were sleeping in a kitchen, but if you don't mind wearing slippers, it was a good value for the money.

Need some updating and replacement of dirty carpet. Was not well stocked. Confusing layout of buildings and floors. Room was crowded and no place to put suitcases.

HOTEL WAS CONVENIENTLY LOCATED IN KEHEI WITH LOTS OF SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS IN THE SURROUNDING AREA. NICE CONDO W/KITCHEN AND LIVING ROOM AND TV IN BOTH LIVING ROOM AND BEDROOM. We booked the room to have a queensize bed in the bedroom and a queensize sofa sleeper in the living room. The sofa was a dual recliner and not a sofa bed. We were only there a few nights and made due. We did advise the hotel of the discrepancy. They most likely would have changed the room if we had requested it.

Maui Banyan worked out so well for us. We got a 2bdrm condo and the rooms were spacious and the complex was well maintained and landscaped. The decor was outdated, but the pictures on hotels.com when we booked it were exactly what it looked like, so I was prepared for that. Plus, we got it for a great price! The master bedroom doors are sliding frosted […] class doors and so not extremely private from the living area, but this was not a problem for us with our family. There were lots of closets, and the kitchen was equipped with dish soap, dishes, etc. so we were able to cook there no problem. And the location is perfect for walking to the beach, shopping, and restaurants. We went at a time that wasn't very busy, so never thought the pool or hot tub was too crowded and didn't have a problem finding parking, but at peak times, this could be a problem because there certainly are a lot of rooms at the complex. Hotel is right across the street from a very nice beach. loved the location in kihei. hotel was great for a two bedroom standard for the price. Evberything was there, the dishes, the gear for sunbathing, boggeyboarding, beach chairs, and a cooler. It was a great stay. fully satisfied.

Ausgesprochen schön, wie in den meisten Hotels von Hawaii ist der Gartenbereich und der Poolbereich des Hotels gestaltet. Dieses Hotel ist Teil einer Seniorenresidenz. Das wäre auch die perfekte Zielgruppe für Übernachtungsgäste, denn für Senioren gibt es hier so einige Erleichterungen, wie z.B. spezielle Einkaufswägen zum Transportieren des Einkaufs […] vom PKW zum Zimmer. Sowohl am Pool, als auch beim Grillen am Pool treffen sich jeden Tag bzw. Abend die Senioren zum "Stammtisch". Wir hatten ein Standardzimmer mit recht einfacher Ausstattung. Leider ist der Raum sehr klein. Wir wussten zuerst gar nicht, wo wir unsere zwei Koffer unterbringen sollen. Die Wände zum Nachbarzimmer sind hellhörig. Unser Nachbar bekam bereits um 6 Uhr Morgens Telefonanrufe, die wir leider mitverfolgen mussten. Wer eine einfache Unterkunft möchte und bereits die 60 überschritten hat, ist hier genau richtig. Wir würden dieses Hotelzimmer nicht mehr buchen, da das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis unserer Meinung nach nicht ausgewogen ist. Lees meer

Vi hade en mycket bra vistelse på hotellet. Fick ett kylskåp som inte fungerade och personalen var direkt mycket vänlig och fixade ett nytt samt frågade om vi ville byta rum. Hotellet skulle behöva lite renovering med färg men annars allt rent och snyggt samt trevliga rum med egen balkong. gratis perkering och tennis bana att låna. ett stort plus att […] det bara tog någon minut ner till havet/stranden. Allgemeines: Die Hotelanlage liegt, nur durch die Küstenstraße getrennt, am Strand. Restaurants sind einige in unmittelbarer Nähe. In der gesamten Anlage ist es sehr ruhig. Die Pools dürfen bis 22Uhr benutzt werden. 3 große Gasgrills stehen im Poolbereich zur Verfügung. Man konnte auch die kostenlosen Tennisplätze und Schläger/Bälle unkompliziert nutzen. Zimmer: Die […] Apartments sind scheinbar Eigentumsapartments, die vom Hotel verwaltet werden. Dadurch ergibt sich eine individuelle Ausstattung.Unser Zimmer lag fast am Ende der Anlage, sodass der Fußweg zum Strand schon einige Zeit brauchte. Unser 2-Raum-Apartment T301/301A war hervorragend ausgestattet. Die Küche war für mindestens 6-10 Personen ausgerüstet. Es war absolut alles vorhanden was man nur brauchen könnte und auch darüber hinaus: von der Parmesanreibe, Auflaufschalen bis zu 4 verschiedenen Obstkörben. Täglich wurden 2 Spülmaschinentabs und neue Handtücher gebracht. Es standen 3 Flachbildschirmfernseher, eine Playstation, ca. 20 DVDs ....zur Verfügung. Auch gab eine Waschmaschine und Trockner mit Waschmittel. Zur großen Freude der Kinder gab es 4 Boogieboards und Sandspielsachen auf dem Balkon. Bei unseren Überlegungen, ob es auch negatives zu berichten gibt, fiel uns nur ein, dass man (wie bei all unseren Hotels, Häusern und Wohnungen auf Hawaii) die Zimmer nicht verdunkeln kann, sodass es ab ca. 6Uhr hell wird.
