"Cheap hotel"
Cheap hotel in more ways than one, bottom line the room smelled like feet and smelly dog, and was poorly maintained, but you get what ya pay for and next time I will spend the money for a better hotel
"Very descent for the money"
I was quite comfortable staying there overnight. The room was rather small, with two chairs and a queen sized bed, but satisfactory for one person to comfortably spend the night in. "Super 8 Ames, IA 1418 S Dayton Ave"
I would not stay at this hotel simply because of the experience. I think that the service was great and all but it was very disappointing when I woke up in the morning with red bumps all over my neck, my whole body, and hands. I got bitten by bed bugs and I wasn't really sure until I actually lifted the bed in the morning and I saw these bed bugs all […] over the bed and crawling everywhere. I had to throw out all of my clothes, my suit case, and everything that I had brought with me. Both my mother and boyfriend had to also throw everything out because the bed bugs were everywhere. My boyfriend went down to the office to get the manager on call to look at the bed bugs, the guy at the counter simply didn't bother to get up and come to the room, and said, " It's okay Mr. I believe you. I have no reason to argue with you. We'll go a head and reverse the charges. Sorry about this incident." Therefore, I would not recommend anyone this hotel. It's been about 3 weeks since this has happened and I'm very infected and I'm taking high dosage of antibiotic because I have a very infected finger and hand. I would not want this to happen to anyone else. "Good cheap hotel"
Good hotel room. Try to avoid the rooms by the staircase. Lots of noise coming from people going up and down. Requested the manager a different room and he gladly got me another one. He was a good Indian man.
Great place for staying for people and pets.

For the rate I received this hotel was satisfactory. It was little further from Jack Trice than I expected, which was kind of disappointing. The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was decent, and the rate was great.

"College tour"
It was an ok hotel stayed for 3 days. didn't made the beds on day.Room was clean . stairs outside were durty.breakfast was a normal cold one .
"Noisy"
The refrigerator in our room made a loud knocking sound, we had to unplug it in order to sleep. The door to the room wouldn't close slowly-always slammed shut.

We drove 16 hrs for a wedding this past saturday and the last thing we wanted to worry about was where we were staying. This place had a nice location, close to downtown and a lot of stuff to do, but the overall experience there was horrible. They did not make the beds for us they only took out the trash and gave us new towels. The fridge didn't even […] work to keep the food cold. I will never stay there again, I paid for 2 nights plus $15 per night for my dog and we did not even stay the 2nd night because our room smelled so bad and we felt very unsafe, there were a bunch of hoodlums hanging around outside of the hotel!! all in all it was the worst place I have ever stayed!!!!

"Ames Iowa Super 8 - convenient & good for a budget"
I have stayed here several times before due to the convenient location and the value for the price. It is 10 minutes from the University and five minutes from Duff Avenue restaurants, very near the Interstate highway but not at all noisy. Spring for the extra money and check into a nicer place. It works for a cheap place to stay, but in hindsight, I would have paid more for a different location the price and had a cleaner/newer room with some amenities. "Great for the cost!"
It's a motel for the price you pay for it. If you're looking for luxury, then you probably should keep looking. For me however, it fit perfectly into what I needed: A place to sleep when I wasn't out and about checking out Ames and Des Moines. The room was clean, the staff was friendly and accommodating even though we arrived very late. Didn't look […] to bad outside either! "Never staying here again"
room was ready, problem was between 1st and 2nd night, they literally moved me out of my room, took my bag to lost and found, they made a SMALL concession, giving me $15 off for the inconvenience. I will NEVER stay at this SUPER 8 again, dirty, furnishings haven't been updated in 20 years, not comfortable surroundings at all
"Super 8 in Ames"
Overall for the price and a one night stay it wasn't too bad.
The facilities are minimal, perhaps OK for spending one night at a reasonable rate. The breakfast (included in the rate) was comparatively better than what I expected. My only complaint: the only room left for us was a smoking room when we were expecting to get a non-smoking room. The front desk person was helpful during check-in.

"Great Room for the Money I Spent"
the room was clean and the front desk was very helpful with directions. My room was located near the laundry room which was kind of noisey in the morning with the cleaning folks...but over all I would definately stay there again.

I couldn't find a better value in town -- especially during Homecoming weekend. Room was clean, cheapo breakfast offer adequate, friendly front desk help. My only suggestion for improvement -- Super8 needs to back off on the 'fresh scent'. It was simply overbearing -- in the lobby, in the room -- heck, it even followed me to the parking lot.

Yuck ! The place smelled musty and like it had just been sprayed for bugs. Thankfully after some work we could get the window open for fresh air. We found a lighter in the bathroom of a non smoking room. How long has that been there? The one in Story City is much nicer.
