Castle Inn in San Francisco

Prima hotel, Centraal gelegen met ruime gratis parkeergelegenheid, Ruime schone kamer. Aardige medewerkers en prima service. In de buurt net om de hoek van de straat leuke restaurantjes en koffieshopjes en winkeltjes. Zeker een aanrader.

Heel vriendelijke ontvangst met een woordje uitleg over de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden en de te minder aan te raden stadsdelen van San Francisco. Centraal gelegen, op wandelafstand van de meeste toeristische bezienswaardigheden. Ook de parking was inbegrepen, wat toch een besparing is van enkele tientallen dollars is per dag. Wel werd ons niet vermeld bij het inchecken dat er een klein ontbijtje inbegrepen was (yoghurt, muffins, koffie, fruitsap, thee en enkele ontbijtkoekjes naar keuze), dit hebben we pas de 2e dag bij het uitchecken gezien, maar toch nog 1 keer van kunnen genieten. We hadden het natuurlijk ook kunnen vragen bij het inchecken, maar we waren vol ongeduld om de stad in te gaan. Ook was het vrij makkelijk te bereiken, op Broadway net om de hoek van de `Van Ness Avenue`, in een vlakke straat. Hoewel bij een wandeling in de buurt wel enkele vrij serieuze hoogteverschillen en afdalingen te overbruggen zijn. Bij het uitchecken correcte afrekening, geen onverwachte extra`s. Nothing particularly fancy, but had pleasant staff, clean room, convenient location for my business needs.

small room but clean and great staff. Great price considering it includes in and out parking. walking distance to restaurants on Polk.

Although the room we had at the Castle Inn was nothing special, the staff were especially friendly and helpful, they have free parking, and it is centrally located for taking public transportation anywhere one would want to go in San Francisco. Stayed at the Castle Inn for five nights - top floor at the back of the building - very quiet and an easy location for walking around the city - through the Broadway Tunnel to North Beach. Good price.

Offered the best price at the time of booking. Friendly service, clean, but old room. Decent breakfast: o.j., coffee, tea, muffins, oatmeal, cereal bars, fruit. The best part of the whole experience is the location. We loved the neighborhood. Fantastic little restaurants are just around the corner. Easy access to public transportation.

Staff was extremely friendly and professional from the very start! I was lost driving into town at night and the wonderful man at the front desk stayed on the phone with me to safely guide me to the hotel! Clean and comfortable and a short walking distance to China Town, the Wharf and the Trolley was a block away! As expected with reasonable rate for downtown area.

This isn't listed in the site-but there are no check ins after 11pm. They also will not refund you in case you show up past this unlisted deadline. Hopefully this helps with your travel planning.

The parking was free but fitting in to the very small spaces is a chore. The room was ok didnt like the water stains on the ceiling in several spots (it just looked bad). It served it's purpose one overnight stay.

Do not expect a five star hotel when you book the Castle Inn; that said, we were quite pleased with everything about our 3 night stay. Though the Castle Inn is not a new property, the managers, Marshal and Arlene, do a great job with their staff in keeping the rooms in good condition. We did not have a car, so we used the excellent Muni buses to get […] everywhere. The hotel is conveniently located one block from Polk street where you can find cafes, restaurants, even a hardware store. Those who do have a car get free parking at the Castle Inn, a real savings. The biggest issue was it was very noisy. The people were very nice and helpful. We were taking our son to UCSF for surgery and the location was great.

This hotel was ideal for what we needed in San Francisco. The reception staff were very helpful and had a list of buses to get to all the sights in San Francicso.

Worth every cent! Location was perfect for travel to any spot in the City you would want to visit. Plenty of restaurants and shops near by if one just wants to get out and walk for a bit. For the price we were happy with our stay at the Castle Inn. The people at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. The free covered parking is a real value - some places charge $10, $20 or even $30 for parking so make sure you take that into account when comparing rates. The staff were great! The beds super comfortable and it was within walking distance of most of all we wanted to do! The breakfast is not much to write home about, but there are lot of really nice resteraunts close by. All in all it was a very pleasant stay and would recommend it you are going to SF.

We made a reservation and there was 3 of us so we needed 2 beds. The site we booked thru faxed that we wanted a king size so the made accommodations so we had what we needed! Some of the nicest people I have ever dealt with! Would stay there again anytime! They definatley have great customer service skills and that's a plus!:)

comparing all motels in SF downtown, I think it is a good place. good price and very clean! the most important is that it has free parking. so, we can walk to fisherman wharf.

So I needed a quick hotel for the night - the room was great for all of us. Two queen beds, comfortable and clean. I would definitely stay there again!!

The hotel was like a barrack. Thin walls, noisy, couldn't sleep. Value/price ratio was a big disappointment.

The hotel staff was very helpful and courteous.

The hotel is in a great location. You can easily walk to Lombard street, Pier 39 and Ghiradelli square. If you aren't much of a walker, the trolly car stops just one block from the hotel. I would recommend a City Pass if you are staying for several days, it gives you unlimited trolley/cable/bus rides for your entire stay. Castle Inn was within walking distance to obtain public transport pass, close to some restaurants, and 50 m to bus stop. You need to be able to access public transport in San Francisco. Breakfast was basic, free car parking was a bonus.

I have been going to The Castle as a getaway for over 20 yrs. Great location in a fantastically cosmopolitan neighborhood with every ethnic food you can imagine eating within footsteps of your room. Oh, and did I mention your choice of Starbucks or Pete"s coffee just seconds away? Bus routes bisecting the area gives you mass transit access to anywhere […] in the city; Chinatown, North Beach, cable cars, Fisherman's Wharf, SOMA. Very clean and comfortable beds! Free parking and within a good little walk to the Wharf. The hotel looks a little shady from the outside, but it is actually very nice!

I stay at many 2 star hotels, as I prefer economy over "extras". I had a non-smoking room. When I walked into the halls of either floor, the scent of cigarettes permeates every inch. I could not rid my room of the smell. The front desk took 15 minutes to greet me upon checkin. The window's lock and the toilet were broken. The edges of the carpet were […] filthy. We mean it, this is the BEST location you can stay if you visit SF for holidays. You have all kind of cool places around and a walking distances and of course, as has to comment about the hotel, it´s great, SUPER kind and helpful staff and very clean bedrooms, microwave, fridge, very clean toilet as well, free wireless and free parking and not any add […] surcharges after you book, as happens sometimes with some hotels (it happened to us in the hotl we booked in Vegas but only knew abt it after booking). I was staying while my Mom was at CA Pacific Medical Center, about 9 blocks away. I thought the motel was a good value, and the free parking is great for S.F. The continental breakfast wasn't much (yoghurt, packaged muffins, cereal bars, cereal) but there were coffeemakers in the rooms and they gave me extra coffee. The hotel is better than you would expect for the price. The two staff members I dealt with were very nice, professional and helpful. Overall very clean and quiet but not fancy and need new televisions. The hotel is perfectly located to two buselines going anywhere you'd want to go. Cable car is two blocks away. Very little for breakfast and I wish […] they had customer use computer & printer for boarding passes. If I ever need a reasonable priced room in San Francisco, I'd stay at the Castle Inn again.
