Chose this hotel for short break with my wife as had excellent reviews and preferable to impersonal overpriced 5 star hotels which often fail to deliver. Really good location and just few minutes walk from lovely beach which we unexpectedly enjoyed as weather was great for January. Double room, not large but certainly not cramped and clean as was bathroom. Breakfast […] well presented, good choice and delicious. On first morning the hotel manager at breakfast made a point of introducing himself and chatting which was really appreciated and we were very impressed. We also noted the next day the manager walking into kitchens, greeting his staff with a friendly good morning. This is clearly a well run hotel. The hotel common areas are well maintained and clean. My only negative was the check in, hence the 4 not 5 overall rating, which while smooth was carried out by a rather tired looking female receptionist who made no effort to engage us. First impressions are important and she could do better! However, any requests made to the different reception staff during our stay were handled in helpful and friendly manner. The hotel has a calm and relaxed ambience, and good value. We plan to return later in year.. Lees meer

Great location, fairly good breakfast, very nice design of communal spaces, but not the rooms - they are dated and the smell inside is not very nice. Comfort level is also not very high. Overall I would rate it as 4, but probably a 3-3.5 given the price.

We enjoyed staying in this hotel, but we paid too much. Similar, larger hotels with bigger rooms cost less. Still, the staff here was very professional and their free breakfast is truly amazing!!

The hotel is a charming preservation of an older cinema house. The lobby and other open spaces have relics from its older history. The rooms are pleasant with all necessary amenities. If you don't want to stay at a large chain hotel, this is a nice alternative.

The building is really beautiful, it's centrally located, and if you love art deco, this is a great place. Also breakfast is superb, and they also give you a snack at 5pm on the rooftop terrace. However the room is a bit disappointing, it's very basic, and doesn't look like a boutique hotel at all. This is a really unique hotel. The building is truly stunning - a beautifully restored Bauhaus cinema with lots of preserved cinematic equipment on display. It's the first time I have ever checked into a hotel and been able to watch a silent movie at the same time! It is clearly a very well managed establishment, and the staff were polite and helpful. […] There is a lovely roof terrace dotted with tubs of shrubs and flowers and lying there in the morning sun with views of Tel Aviv (such an elegant city) all around, was magical. In the evening drinks and nibbles are provided on the terrace free of charge. The breakfasts were excellent and the dining room and other commumal areas tastefully decorated. It's in a fantastic location about five mintes walk from the beach and very close to shops and good eating places and within easy reach of all the other delights that the city has to offer. A fabulous find: a hotel from the 1930s, sympathetically rennovated, with original projectors and film paraphenalia on every Terrific location, good sized modern rooms, nice terrace to look out over Tel Aviv, great breakfast and free wifi a bonus. I would highly recommend the Hotel Cinema to anyone.

Very convenient location, excellent breakfast, most useful amenities, friendly staff. I especially appreciated that my first two complaints - lack of luggage stand and a stuck shower arm - were solved immediately. The individual air comditioning unit was blocked and although the thermostat was supposed to work even so, I could never adjust it to the […] desired room temperature. I've stayed at the Cinema many times over the past four years, and each time has been a delight. The breakfast buffet is superb and the salads, cheeses, cakes and breads change daily. The afternoon tea buffet is lovely, with different cakes, fruits and drinks each time. There is always an interesting mix of Israelis along with European, North American, […] African and Asian visitors. The location is unbeatable for people who want to explore as tourists or get to work commitments in Tel Aviv or elsewhere in Israel. Excellent proximity to the beach, including by free bicycle provided by the hotel. Close to major streets, bus lines, train stations and taxis (always waiting outside). My wife and I went with our toddler since there were good reviews and it was reasonably affordable for Tel Aviv. We enjoyed our stay and the hotel has a nice mix of old and new. The bed was comfortable and the service was very good, although there was some outside noise from the square at night but nothing too troubling. The windows are not double […] glazed which is a problem. We particularly enjoyed the great range of Kosher food at breakfast, the free popcorn and the 'happy hour' early evening! Free wifi was also a bonus. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to help us especially for our child. Parking is free but tight! once we had to ask the hotel to move 2 cars in order that we could move our car which was a little inconvenient. The rooms were clean, although a little small with a cot in the same room. Overall, a very nice experience, great service, good food and affordable compared to the grand 4 or5* hotels in Tel Aviv. We loved this hotel. It is small and friendly, very modern and chic, converted from a former 1930's cinema. The location is fantastic, the rooms are comfortable though ours was a little small. I was traveling with my 79-year-old Dad, who loved the projectors. I loved the building, the staff and having a great cinema across the square. The hotel could do with somewhere nice to collapse in the evening, but there are so many bars within a block that it's not a great problem.

The Bauhaus architecture, inside and out, is extremely well preserved in this cute hotel. Fun hotel to stay at. Loved the silent movies and free popcorn in the lobby. The old movie posters and movie paraphernalia in the lobbies helped to create a charming atmosphere. The afternoon snacks and drinks served next to the sundeck on the 4th floor was truly a pleasure to come back to after a long day. The views from the sundeck were great as well. […] Great location in the center of the city for both sight seeing and shopping. Good transportation either public or private readily available. The morning breakfast which was included was also excellent. Service in the dining room was excellent and if you asked the staff would usually try and accomodate any special requests. I'm a 63 yr old female traveler from the USA. I searched out a good location for a hotel in Tel Aviv on the web and found this. It is a wonderful concept and a mini museum. It is near the train station for taxis to and from the hotel. The hotel staff are very nice, courteous and spoke to me in English. The continental breakfast has a wide range of foods […] with good serving hours. There is a very good falefal store around the corner, friendly and good falafels. Conveniently located at base of Dizengoff Circle, hotel has transformed legacy as old movie theater into charming theme for relatively small hotel. Samples of old movie equipment are prominently displayed in common spaces on each floor, and classic films of Laurel and Hardy, Charley Chaplin, etc. are continuously shown on screen in lobby, where popcorrn […] is also available at front desk. Other vintage aspects of the original movie theater have also been preserved in common areas. More significantly, the staff was very helpful with of our numerous requests, such as restaurant recommendations, location and hours of pharmacies we needed on emergency basis, calling taxicabs, holding our luggage before/after we checked in/ out. They had a good knowledge of the area and showed genuine attitude to be helpful. There is also a generous and appealing complimentary breakfast as well as a complimentary happy hour each day of wine, lemonade and assorted munchies to be enjoyed leisurely on a roof terrace. Within a few blocks on Dizengoff Street are several popular restaurants/bistros and grocery stores, as well as many apparel and other shops. The only shortfall is the compact space in the rooms, which is to be expected in this kind of hotel in a center city location. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay. Nice hotel and excellent location in the center of Tel Aviv. It's a 5 to 10 minutes walk to most city center locations and about 10 minutes walk to the beach. The Balhaus building is very interesting. The room is a bit small but clean and comfortable. Nice hotel located beside a busy shopping street in Tel Aviv. Avoid the first floor, street side, as there was street noise and a disco that created noise that went late into the night. We stayed twice at this hotel on our trip and on the first stay we were on the second floor, away from the street and it was very quiet. Front desk was very helpful […] and the hotel provides parking. Very nice breakfast although not as extensive as many Israeli breakfasts.
